| Holy Warrior02-29-04, 06:42 AM | You know in AD&D, there were some ability score requirrements for some classes, d'you think it is right to use this in my games? What do you say? |
| Thermanshs02-29-04, 07:48 AM | I think that a class's most important abilities are already met by players in 3,5 so why put further restriction? It also prevents players being caught in all these stereotypes that trade flavor/variation for power |
| Kage Wellby02-29-04, 09:28 AM | I agree. Just because it benefits a rogue to be dexterous doesn't mean that a rogue should have a certain dex or higher. PrCs are a different story, though. |
| Shadowfax702-29-04, 10:04 AM | I agree as well, no minimum requirements to ability scores should exist for the classes. Versatility in having a low STR fighter or low DEX Rogue enhance the roleplaying aspect of the game. And all spellcasting classes already have a minimum stat requirement to cast their spells. :) |
| Aramas02-29-04, 11:39 AM | Actually, it specifically states in the DMG that when designing a PrC an ability score of a certain value is a poor choice for a requirement. You may, however, require a certain feat that has a prerequisite ability score. I don't think any class should require you to have rolled a certain number at character creation just to take the class. |
| Holy Warrior02-29-04, 01:38 PM | OK! OK! I give up! You're right. But please do not reply the word 3.5, I don't like it! |

With this rule, AD&D basically gave players who would already have more powerful characters based on higher stats, another power boost by giving them access to more powerful classes. I have literally nothing good to say about this. |
