Let's say a character takes an alternative class feature (like Ranger's trading spellcasting for bonus feats at 4,8,12, etc).

Later in this character's career, the player decides to take a prestige class the specifically advances Ranger spellcasting by 1 per level.

Is it out-of-line to change "+1 to Ranger spellcasting" to +1 to Effective Ranger Level (this would encompass the bonus feats). I figure it is too much to make this increase also increase favored enemy bonuses as well.

Thanks.

If the PrC stated specifically Ranger spellcasting, then it would probably be a good ruling to at least add +1 Ranger level Bonus feat aquisition.

rangers get bonus feats for each level tier they acquire, so if it would've given them access to a new level of spells, give them a feat.
