Just buy a tamed winged creature that can carry a small sized character and roleplay it as your animal companion. Better yet, get good at handle animal and tame a wild one.

~Ok, i think your best bet might be to have Races of Wild and take halfling racila substatution levels, and actually either a regular eagle or a dire eagle from Races of Stone would be a great flying animal companion.

could a regular eagle carry a halfling?

No, regular eagles are small creatures with 10str, I think he meant a giant eagle (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/eagleGiant.htm), which can carry up to 300lbs, and is large sized so a small creature has no problem mounting it.

Cost-wise if you aren't a druid, "Giant eagle eggs are worth 2,500 gp apiece on the open market, while chicks are worth 4,000 gp each. Professional trainers charge 1,000 gp to rear or train a giant eagle." (cost is free if you can track one down, spend 6 weeks training it, and make a DC 25 handle animal check)

Become a wizard or cleric.
Animate a zombie dragon or some other flying bugger with 10 HD or less (vrock is the most HD available, but not very well adapted for carrying a hafling).
Fly about.

Take leadership, find something that flies and can carry you. Make it your cohort. Ride it.

Any PrC with a flying mount can work fine for you. There are griffonriders, hawkriders, pegasus riders, and all that kind, and their companions usually advance quite well. A very weird way to handle it is by becoming a Dracolyte, and getting a golden wyrmling (hey, it's medium). Sorcerers or wizards can do it with the draconic familiar feat, paladins can take dragon steed or just opt for a flying mount (should be able to get a medium one by lvl 8 or so), rangers and druids can use an animal companion, etc. The MM 1 doesn't have many medium + birds, but other sources mention them.

Alternatively, save a feat for leadership and you're set. Failing that, you could just pay for a trained giant owl, see the MM for details.

Or you could go Wizard and then Zhentarin Skymage, effectively becoming an one man bomber.

True, that's one seriously bad-donkey PrC. The Moonsea Skysentinels apparently have a serious death wish.

where is that griffon rider class located? because if icould find a way to get that to ork, I would do that. and also is there like progression tables for griffons, like riding a medium one?
