I'm going for Daggerspell Mage and I don't know where to go after that. I don't like Arcane Trickster because that's more of a ranged class and I'm going for melee. Anybody know another class with +1 Arcane Caster Level, 4 or more skill points per level and d6 hp or better each level? I can use anything WoTC. Thanks.

I'm not sure what the Daggerspell mage is...but if you want 6 skill points plus arcane spellcasting look at the Beguiler in the PHII.

Daggerspell Mage is in the Complete Adventure. Beguiler isn't what I'm looking for because it has it's own spell list, not +1 Caster Level.

-fohclucan lyrist, but that is for bards, so probably not what you were looking for

Are you looking for a base class or a PrC?

It seems pretty obvious IMO opinion that he's looking for a PrC

If you can find me a PC that has what I'm looking for I'm down like a clown Charlie Brah. Down like a clown Charlie Brah. Down like a clown Charlie Brown.

well, the beguiler is a base class (PHB2), that has 9 levels of spellcasting (mostly enchantment and illusion) and has 6+int skill points per level

Everybody keeps coming back to beguiler which is 100% not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a class that has this in it's description:

"Spells per Day

When a new ********** level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increased effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one spellcasting class before becoming an ***********, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for purposes of determining spells per day. "

Amd this:

+1 level of existing class

Along with 4 or more skill points, 6 or better hit die.

Sorry if I wasn't specific enough.

I'd still say Arcane Trickster. You may see a ranged character but the only thing I see that it lets you do at range is use some skills. Your sneak attack is just a personal as ever.

The d4 hp screams ranged to me.

I can't really argue with that. :)

I'd like to say ahead of time, I know this is cheese. My appolgies in advance. Also, if your already playing your character, it's worthless since it's based on race. That said, here it goes...

:::Cheese Alert:::

You could go Changeling rouge/caster/daggerspell/warshaper/arcane trickster... With 2 lvls of war shaper, you get 100% Fortification, a bump to strength which would help in mele, for extra damage if nothing else, and a bump in con that would basically make the tricksters d4's into d8's... Not to mention the hit dice from your other classes... It would make it hurt less to take the trickster levels, but the down side is it would still cost you 2 caster levels to pull it off...

True.

How about Eldritch Knight (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/eldritchKnight.htm)? It's only d6 but has full BAB and good Fort saves.

edit: nevermind... doesn't have the skills you want.

I couldn't think of anything exactly as you wanted but.. the sublime chord is pretty close. True you need bardic music but you can grab a level of virtuoso for that.

Otherwise you might try a Harper Agent (if on the FR) or the Ruathar from Races of the Wild.

There may be more in Dragon Mag but I wouldn't know them.

Loremaster gets 4+Int modifier skill points each level, and +1 casting level each level. It's only d4 HP, but you can have +3 HP is you select Secret Health, which for something like 4 remaining levels, isn't that bad...

Everaskan Tomb Guardian: +1 Arcane spellcasting, 4 skill points, d4, but you need to be an elf.

Green Star Adept keeps half the spell progression, but full caster level. Only 2 skill points each level, but D8 HD and Damage Reduction/Adamantine...

Are you wizard or sorcerer? If sorcerer, Dragon Disciple might be interresting. Not really what you're looking for, but still interresting...

In short, it'll be difficult to have average skill points, average HD, and good spellcasting... Checking in Crystal Keep, I find many PrC with 2 out of 3, but neither with all 3.

Daggerspell Mage(CA) is the sweet spot with all three. Here's what I have so far.

17-20 I just don't know

He is more roguey then Wizzy.

Lore Master looks alot better then I remember her from 3.0, she looked as ugly as Paris Hilton back then but now she's got this pre-Star Wars Natile Portman thing going on.
Harper Agent might do it too, I checked it on crystalkeep but I gotta dig out that book and take a look, thanks.

I know youre opposed to this, but Arcane Trickster seems to be everything you want for this guy: Skill-points, SA-dice, full casting? Whats not to love? Impromptu Sneak Attack and Ranged Legerdemain are just some gravy.

Over these 4 levels, you'll average four fewer hit-points than if you took a clas that offered a d6. At that level, 4 hit-points isnt going to kill you.

Ardent Dilentte.
Except the first level has no spellcasting increase.
Qualifying for level 4 and above is hard as well
