But, what if everytime you gained a level you just chose a class ability from on of the classes that exist. Now I could be way of on this but I'll try and explain a little how it could be balanced. Say at every level you are allowed "one class feature" these features would act like feat in that they would have prerequisites, for instance say at level 1 you go, alright, I want sneak attack. A requirement to get your next die in sneak attack would be being level 3. Similarly you may want uncanny dodge, and since that is a higher level ability on the rogues list maybe sneak attack would be a prereq for the uncanny dodge ability. As for how you decide what HD you would get, what base attack and base saves would be, and skill points, you could make it so that whatever ability you took you get the save, attack, HD, and skills for that class at that level. Would this even be possible? |

Each level you gained 5 bonus features that added to a selection of features, like arcane evocation or sneak attack or improved health progression (increase the die). It was odd but it just about worked. It generally produced more focused characters, like Arcane casters with priamarily arcane spells and an undead familiar. I don't think you should use the exact same system as D&D uses for classes systems, though Haldrik has his Paragon - be whatever you want class. |
