| PolishNinja0104-29-07, 07:13 PM | I have been playing my lvl 7 duskblade for quite some time now, and I was thinking of multiclassing into something else. I am looking for some ideas on what would be a good choice, and I was thinking for the heck of it to try a barbarian or ninja but that was for storyline purposes so I was not thinking of what would make my character better. What would help bring out the duskblade better, as even I myself am starting to see it fade away and it will fade even more at higher levels, so any ideas? Thanks in advance. |
| Lotus Crane04-29-07, 07:49 PM | The duskblade doesn't multiclass particularly well, and sticking with it means you'll get full arcane channeling at 13th level, which will dramatically bring your power back up. If you're starting to feel weak at the moment though, you may also want to consider optimizing the equipment you use. There's supposedly some sort of duskblade/Spellsword with spell-storing weapon trick out there that generates damage on par with the most abusive Power Leap Attacking barbarian builds. If you insist on multiclassing right now though, please don't choose barbarian or ninja; both of them interfere badly with duskblade abilities. Barbarian rage will prevent you from casting spells; ninjas can't wear armor, they rely on Wis instead of Int, and because you can only use 1 swift action per round, you'll be forced to choose between quick casting and ki powers. If anything, a few levels of warblade won't be the worst thing in the world, since at least you're getting Int synergy, both classes use medium armor, and the lenient ToB multiclassing rules mean that at 1st level of warblade, you'd be a 4th level martial adept with access to 2nd level maneuvers. |

My wife's duskblade just hit 9th and is easily one of the best heavy hitters in the party. Ensure you have arcane strike, it's key to adding extra damage. |

| Khoran04-29-07, 08:15 PM | Don't multiclass until after level 13, which is where you get Arcane Channeling for your full attack. However, after that, if you wanted to do a Duskblade/Barbarian sort of thing, I would recomend only a 1 level dip then taking levels in Rage Mage from Complete Warrior. It's not a great class, but it would let you keep casting spells as your raged, which is good. |
| Waterhammer04-29-07, 10:39 PM | There is one option for duskblade multi-classing that I quite like. It is Scout, which gives you good skill points, and list. It improves your reflex save, you get Uncanny Dodge. Unlike the ninja you can still wear armor. All for a small dip to BAB. |
| Drachasor04-29-07, 11:46 PM | Multiclassing into a class that gives you more spells can be a very good idea. Chameleon can give you a lot more spells, and you can use their touch attack spells through your sword. -Drachasor |
| NineInchNall04-30-07, 02:04 AM | Really, your best multiclassing option is Ur-priest and Mystic Theurge. Duskblade 13/Ur-priest 2/Mystic Theurge 5 gives you seventh level Cleric spells - which can be used with arcane channeling. Ever want to hit everyone around you with a spell that really matters, like slay living, harm, or shivering touch? Yeah, I thought so. You'll also end up with a respectable +16 BAB (which can be further improved via divine power). |

One question what level are you planning to go with him if only a few more levels tell the game ends then maxing out your spellcasters just is bad and a prc might do better... Dragon Diciplw is a good one level dip either way if you want taste. |

Dragon Diciplw is a good one level dip either way if you want taste. I have not yet decided, and am considered some options and perhaps go with him till lvl 13, but I still might want to look at some other options into what will help my duskblade. Thanks for asking |
| NineInchNall04-30-07, 10:14 AM | Actually, the "Hexblade" bit was a typo. It was supposed to be Duskblade 13/Ur-priest 2/Mystic Theurge 5. Which should have been obvious by my further description of the character. Pedant. :P |
