Hi everyone. I'm a D&D veteran who has never played a lycanthrope. And i'm thinking Werewolf Lord (Dire Wolf that is). I'm wondering what your opinions are on what character class I should go with.

Any ideas?

Scout/ Ranger? If you're playing FR, maybe a Cleric of Selune.

Between level adjustment and Animal hitdice, your BAB is going to be fairly poor. You'll have damage reduction, though. Missing hitdice sting but you can make up for that (to a degree) with a high Con mod, which shouldn't be too hard for a lycanthrope.

Warshaper (complete warrior) is an obvious PrC choice - fast healing is nice, as is immunity to crits and stunning, and the boosted Str, Con and reach are also helpful. A couple levels of fighter beforehand could be useful to pick up Karmic Strike and its requisite feats, along with Combat Reflexes. If you'll be starting at a really high level Robilar's Gambit would be a better feat choice, but securing that might be impractical otherwise. Letting attacks in and using a counterattacker fighting style to generate more attacks where BAB won't do can work fairly well for a strong lycanthrope, IME. Of course if you do this, you really need be ready for special attacks that will connect on your intentionally low AC (undead with paralysis and/or level drain especially).

For base classes I'm not sure... but the Black Blood Hunter PrC from PGtF looks like it would be pretty fun. Maybe shoot for that?

You get increased DR and eventually the ability to change shape as a free action among other things.
