| Great Cthulhu06-06-05, 05:29 PM | I'm currently building a campaign world that has some Final Fantasy aspects (don't scorn if you don't think that FF should be in D&D) in it, and I'm wondering if anybody has done some FF classes. Thanks in advance. |
| Jaid06-06-05, 09:50 PM | there's a blue mage kicking around somewhere, and niveus lynx has done a ton of work for FFVIII, and also there is a holy knight PrC from FFT. specifically, here are some links: Basic Items (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=433580) FF Magic (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=432561) FF Weapons/Armor (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=430537) i see you've already found the blue mage class, so i'll leave that one out... and i don't feel like looking for the FFT holy knight class, but it's around somewhere (i haven't got it subscribed, sorry). on another note, it might also be a good idea to check out the video game boards, as those are likely to have some conversions for you as well. missed an I in FFVIII ;) |

Most of them are straightforward and a lot of the regular core classes can be ported over with only a little work to fill some of the classes there. For the rest it should be pretty easy to turn them into D&D classes. |

Thanks in advance. No classes for you, but I do have an idea that would nicely cover the Materia idea of FF7. Specifically, each one has a specific, kind acustom feat built into it. You can't take these feats normally; instead, you wear the materia object (as an amulet, maybe). While wearing it, 10% of any XP you earn gets siphoned off into the materia; when it reaches some predetermined total, the ability wihtinit is learned, permanently, as a bonus feat by the person who's been wearing it. Best if the XP totals are tracked by player, rather than just a single total in any given materia. It needs a LOT of work, but it might prov worth the effort, since IMO it would definitely model a very FF-esque element, threby supporting the FF "feel" of your game. ^_^ |
