...does not exist. -HOW EVER-, there are some clases that grants imortalaty in the form that you do not die of old age, and you are not a construct or an undead.

Erm...well I can only just come up with the unicorn laidy from Exalted deeds and the moment. If you -REALY- wanne die and be resurected instantly then you need to talk the DM into letting you play the pheanix from Monster Manual II (good luck).

a changeling wizard 15(+racial sub.)/recaster 5= ultimate shape change: all forms and phoenix if you are close to death.

There is a prestige class that might fit your needs. Its called the frenzied berserker, and at 3rd level it gets deathless frenzy, which makes it unable to be killed as long as its in a frenzy...but its also got some steep drawbacks...its in the complete warrior if you want to check it out

But really, why are you looking for a class that gives you immortality? Or do you want the kind of non-aging immortality (or whatever), cause u can get that with the druid at some high level, but I would'nt want immortality...it'd get boring if you couldnt be killed and it would take away all the fun of combat...but this is all I can think of that comes close.

Hope that helps :) ...I guess

There was this distinct mountainpeak PrC in Frostburn that granted at its final level, 10, I believe, true immortality. Perhaps look that book up.

Yep there was a monk PrC that did the ageless thing in Frostburn.

The closest I'm able to think of to the orginal post though is the Sand Shaper from Sandstorm. The 10th level ablity is Resurrection .. not True .. if your body is covered with sand. So there is level loss but if you die in the right place or have just 1 follower / companion who can take care of your body then your character can come back to life fairly easily.

Perhaps you could cast (or have cast upon you?) Contingency and True Ressurection?

Or you can always got the way of the Lich or the Vampire.

Eh, unless you're a god, true immortality is basically evil and an abomination.

it's just that if i die, then i am going to be half the level of the other characters.

You do not "start at half the lvl of the other caracters". First you need to be resurected. If that is not a viable option for the party (or if you don't realy want to) then moast DM's lets you reroll a character. He usualy starts at the lvl you where when you died, or the lovest lvl in the group (DM's choise after all.)

How ever if you do get resurected you do not lose half your lvl's. You just lose 1 lvl (and I am a bit shure of this next part, haven't died in a long time) and you are halfway to the xp to get to next lvl.

This means that if you where lvl 2. you die, you get resurected you are lvl 1 with half the xp you need to become lvl 2.

So in that regard you are right that you lose half your levels.

But if you where lvl 8 and you die, you get resurected - now you are lvl 7, with half as mutch xp you need to lvl 8. I would not cal that lose half your levels.

Also might I add that if you are some lvl'r lover then the rest of the party, then you get more xp when you kill stuff, because it is a harder chalange for you. In that way i balances itself out after a while.

There is a PrC from the Planar Handbook (Ardent Dilettante) which gives an ability called 'death holds no mysteries' at 10th level. Basically it removes the level loss from death, but note that you have to have died before in order to proceed in the PRC that far.

that with the "half the other characters level" is my DMs rule.

that with the "half the other characters level" is my DMs rule.Gah. That makes a character who dies at later levels unplayable which is exactly what resurrection magic is designed to avoid. I'd say remove resurrection magic altogether rather than giving you back a severely crippled character who's likely to die again if he tries to stick around.

As character power is supposed to double roughly every 2 levels, dieing at level 12 would leave you 1/8th as effective as other characters... That's probably not playable, and certainly not 'fun'.

that is the reason to be immortal(and auto-resurrected)

that is the reason to be immortal(and auto-resurrected)I'm not quite sure what you're saying. If you die, and are resurrected, do you use the normal rules for resurrection or do you come back at half the level? Is your GM really drawing distinction between automatically coming back and coming back through a spell?

One thing I might suggest would be to have a Spirit Shaman follower as from level 11 spirit shamans can 1/week return someone who has died to life (no level loss or cost, they just force your spirit back into your body) as long as it is done within 1 round of the death. Give your cohort quicken spell and get him to heal you immediately after wards too as the effect leaves you stable but on -ve HP. Being a spirit shaman itself may also be useful, as they get an ability at level 19 that gives them the effects of a heal spell if they are ever killed at the cost of 1kxp.

It's probably too hard, but you could give Green Star Adept from Complete Arcane a shot. Hard to get into and progress, but 10th level makes you an immortal construct. You could also become a lich or vampire. If your DM will let you, become a Necropolitan (from Libris Mortis). It's like lich except you lose a level instead of level adjustment, and it's slightly different. If you do that, there's a 5th or 6th level spell (depending on your class) also in Libris Mortis called Revive Undead which is like Raise Dead except with undead.

Barring that, you need to be epic and pull off a convoluted process involving epic spells to become a Rank 0 Deity and achieve actual immortality. I'd still want to be an undead, though. Undead "roxxor my soxxors," as the kids say nowadays.
