Classes with Exotic Weapon Proficiency [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-07-06, 03:15 PM I am looking for a class that provides three or more exotic weapon proficiencies. I understand there is a fighter variant in Dragon Magazine called the Exoticist that gives proficiency with up to four exotic weapons in exchange for martial weapon proficiency. Unfortunately, that is all I know about the class, and I don't have access to that issue. Are there any classes published by WotC with something similar?

09-07-06, 03:22 PM Monks are proficient with sai, siangham, nunchaku, and kamas, which are all exotic. That's honestly all I can think of.

09-07-06, 03:27 PM I should probably clarify. I want to select which exotic weapons with which to be proficient. So, any classes that grant specific weapon proficiencies are probably not going to be helpful.

To get three, choose a human fighter. Three feats - three weapons.

That is one way to do it, but I am trying to find something more efficient. I'd like to use my feats elsewhere at the same time, so I don't want to use my feats on exotic weapon proficiencies if I don't have to. Besides, I'm going for a more roguish character here. A two-level dip into a fighter class would be acceptable, though.

I found more information about the Exoticist there. Is the information on those variant classes complete, or would I need to find a copy of Dragon Magazine 310 to actually play an Exoticist?

That is another option I wanted to look at. That's basically what the Exoticist does (trades all martial proficiencies for four exotic proficiencies). I may be able to convince the DM to allow that if I can't find any good alternatives.
