| Raster10-21-04, 01:58 PM | The Sohei from Oriental Adventures has an ability called fury that is similar to barb's rage, but with a bonus to dex instead of con, but a sohei doesn't really fit in anywhere other than an OA campaign, so I was wondering if anyone knows of another class (or PrC) with this or a similar ability? Thanks in advance ^_^ |
| Raster10-22-04, 12:54 AM | Something about the way I write must make people want not to post, because most threads I post in die down soon after, and ones that I start never take off. Either that, or I only end up posting about things no one else is interested in...Oh well. This my one bump to this thread, and if I don't get any answers I'll just let it go... |

| ksbsnowowl10-22-04, 02:08 AM | but a sohei doesn't really fit in anywhere other than an OA campaignReally? A temple warrior doesn't fit anywhere except an oriental setting? There were plenty of European warriors associated with churches during the time of the crusades. Sure, the historical Templars and Hospitalers already have PrC's named after them, but I see no reason why the Sohei wouldn't fill that roll too. In fact, the Sohei is the only base class other than those in the PHB that I'm allowing the the Nordic/Celtish campaign I'm just about to start. But, to answer your original question, no, I know of no other classes that grant such an ability. |
| Raster10-22-04, 11:11 AM | Ah. That's too bad. I guess I just have to make some sort of prestige class with it ^_^ I said the Sohei didn't really fit in a non-oriental campaign because it's not just a temple warrior, it's an oriental style temple warrior. But then again, I'm still trying to figure out how monks fit in to a normal campaign. So if you can make them fit in your campaign, you're wiser than I am :D Thanks for the responses guys! |

| mercurywyrm10-23-04, 02:50 PM | I don't belive it boosted dex, I think it boosted just strength, gave a dodge bonus to AC, allowed you to make a flurry attack (one extra attack but -2 to hit on all attacks, during a full attack), and at higher levels rather than a will save bonus during rage you got evasion. It was called whirling frenzy and was found in Unearthed Arcana, which, if you don't have, I think might also be in a web preview of UA on the main D&D website. I personally have a problem with the design of the sohei class, it lacks a true strength and has very little going for it other than being kindof like a lesser version of the barbarian who gets mettle and some spellcasting. I think it needs to be reworked and a full BAB class, or given some more little boosts to make it more worthwhile, especially at low and high levels, it's mid levels are pretty good. |
