ok, I'm kinda new to D&D, I have a 6th level half-elf bard charecter that next level I want to prestige class as a Copper Dragon Deciple. So I was looking at the dragon disciple prestige class info and it says that at 2nd level as dragon deciple I get "claws and bite" So I have 2 questions on this: 1. how do claw and bite attacks work (is it a slash and peirce version of an unarmed attack?) and 2. does my charector actually have claws (can I still wear gloves?)

Also because I become more and more dragon like as I level up, is there a way I can ever gain the polymorph ability (without multi-classing) like real dragons have so I can change back to my old half-elf form? Because honestly at level 35 when I become colossal due to enlargement bonuses, it's gonna be hard to fit through a tavern door. (and honestly I think my character will feel a little akward during those middle stages of transformation where she just looks plain old weird. Even with the charisma bonus at level 10, people won't treat her quite the same being so huge and scaly yet looking kinda like a half-elf)

I was just involved in a thread on a similar topic (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=525988).

1. They are slashes (claws) and a pierce (bite) of a natural attack.

2. Yes, you can wear gloves, though they may need to be specially tailored, because you do have claws.

Lastly, the PrC does not increase your size, not even at epic levels. When you hit level 10 of the PrC, you are a half-dragon. Epic levels of the PrC only increase your natural armor bonus, increase your breath weapon damage, give bonus feats, skill point, hit points, etc... but you still remain a half-dragon at the size you originally were.

but if you look at the Epic Insightscolumn on transformational prestige classes it says this:

"Enlargement: At 15th level, and every ten levels
thereafter, the dragon disciple’s size increases by one
step (such as from Large to Huge), to a maximum of
Colossal size. The change in size affects the dragon disciple’s
base natural weapon damage (see below). Apply
the appropriate new size modifier to the character’s
attacks and AC.
If the dragon disciple is already Colossal, he instead
gains a +2 bonus to Strength."

you have to look at the special books to get what you want :D and I do wan't to become a dragon. I just want to change back to my half-elf form at will. And besides, even the pre-epic enlargement to "large" is still pretty big and monstrous.

Hmmm Interesting thing... dunno honestly since I didnt go Dragon Disciple, I just added the Half-Dragon template to my character when we started the campaign.

Wonder if I can convince the DM to allow for that level 15 advancement... I REALLY wanna fly around hehe

Just remember with your claw and bite:

- you have a -5 on each if you dont have the multiattack feat
- Dont bite nasty things like plagued undead, Jelly's or anything else that is icky for the taste buds
- when you get your second attack, it does not apply to the secondary claw and bite unless you have the feat that gives you that ability (Multiweapon fighting I believe)
- You cant use your second claw attack if you have a shield or two handed weapon equipped

On the all, I LOVE my half-draggy... in fact my love of dragons in particular is why my DM allowed me this option without going into the prestige class Dragon Disciple. Heck my char has a whole history already, which is prolly why he let me make the char... well that and the DM is married to me muhahaahaha

"Let me play my Half-Dragon or you're sleeping on the couch tonight"?

By the way, the bite attack deals all three damage types; bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing.

A claw attack deals piercing and slashing damage.

Personally I want to set up a half-Dragon fighter who focuses on natural attacks one of these days, or a Barbarian if I feel like being feat starved.

Well, if you're playing 3.0 rules, or your DM allows it for 3.5, yes, you get larger. Otherwise, you're playing with 3.5 rules for epic levels in dragon disciple. And they are described in full detail in the Epic Level Handbook Update Booklet (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20030718a), and there is no size increase under 3.5 rules. Either way, you don't get anything more than what either the article or the update booklet says, so no polymorph.

If you chose not to use anything but your natural weapons during a full attack action, you'd get to make 2 claw attacks and 1 bite. The two claw attacks would use your full base attack bonus (BAB). Your bite attack would use your BAB -5. Also your bite attack would only add half your strength modifier to damage, IIRC. and 2. does my charector actually have claws (can I still wear gloves?)Yes, you really do have claws, but they shouldn't prevent you from wearing gloves. I generally imagine tearing holes in the fingers or just having fingerless ones. Also because I become more and more dragon like as I level up, is there a way I can ever gain the polymorph ability (without multi-classing) like real dragons have so I can change back to my old half-elf form? IIRC Polymorph is a 5th level spell. That means you'll need to take the feat when you're capable of using 6th level spells, whenever that will be for you (I don't know where you plan to head with the character after Dragon Disciple).
