| Phase03-09-06, 01:15 AM | Is it worth going one level of monk to pick up wis to ac and other goodies? Or is it not worth it. |
| meatrace03-09-06, 01:20 AM | if you plan on staying lawful forever and ever, it can be a good dip. also assuming you wear NO ARMOR as a cleric (which is not very smart) otherwise you lose those nifty monk abilities. |
| Phase03-09-06, 02:06 AM | well no armor of course, but with a high wis and dex should be a problem picking up where the armor left off, especially if i get a monks belt also |

Only if you have a good plan for using the added abilities -- e.g. you want to be a Sacred Fist. It's not worth it for the average cleric, but it's certainly possible to design a character around that idea. |

| Father Dale03-09-06, 11:06 AM | It can work very good with Vow of Poverty too. Be sure to take Intuitive Attack to use your wisdom instead of strength on attack rolls with your unarmed strike or simple weapon. |
| supernerd891603-09-06, 11:56 AM | monks can be pretty combat oriented, so if you stand in the background egging your friends on its not worth it. If your right there behind the barbarian or fighter, go for it. if you got the cash, grab a periapt of wisdom or some gloves of dexterity to compensate for your lack of armor. I'm not sure, but i think you can use stuff like bracers of armor without losing your monk abilities ( not sure, i repeat, not sure. ask your DM). if you can spare the feats, get WP whip, combat reflexes and improved trip. |
| Father Dale03-09-06, 12:39 PM | Yeah you could definitely use bracers of armor as a monk/cleric without any problem. Its how most monks eventually get an armor bonus. |
| Harliquinn03-09-06, 02:32 PM | Instead of a level dip, you could just buy a Monk's Belt. It affords the same bonuses (and restrictions) as the monk class when it comes to AC. |
| OravennasBrother03-09-06, 03:10 PM | The "and other goodies part" is where you pick up the biggest advantages. Monks are a bit front loaded - they get a lot in that one level, from Improved unarmed strike, to a group of monk weapon proficiencies, flurry of blows, save bonuses, and the listed AC bonus when unarmored. You pay the most at odd levels when yuo miss a level of spells (9th level celric gets level 5 spels including the ever popular raise dead, while a Monk 1, Cleric 8 only has 4th level spells). Your call if the trade off is worhtwhile in your campaign. |
| Ciradin03-12-06, 08:06 AM | Let's not forget that you can't multiclass again after that, unless you take some thing that allows monks to multi class freely. |
