Cleric changing domains [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-04-04, 03:13 PM Hi there,

I've read carefully the PHB and I've not seen anything about a cleric that wants to change his domains of the same Deity.

Is it okay to do so?

06-04-04, 03:31 PM I don't think it's ok...how often do you intend to change your doms?Only once?Once per week?Maybe a single change would be ok and a miracle to justify it even better...:embarrass

I'm a LG cleric of Pelor and I'd like to take the radiant servant PrC. I just don,t have the Sun domain since I took the Good and Lawful Cleric..

I did turn a lot more undead than I supposed I would have to so I would have changed the good domain for the sun.

06-04-04, 03:53 PM If you'd like to be within the rules then you should consider multiclassing into a divine agent which gives you an extra domain from your deity's portfolio(you still use 1 domain spell/spell level per day however)

I haven't seen anything about the possibility or impossibility of changing the domains of a cleric.

06-04-04, 04:21 PM Within the rules, you could renounce your faith and then take an atonement spell to get it back and choose new domains, but that is really cheesy.

If you were one of my players, and I was afraid of setting a bad precedent, I would get you to purchase/quest for a scroll of miracle and use that.

I'm an exalted VOP Cleric and the radiant servant of Pelor would be an excellent PrC for my character.

I didn't think the Sun domain would be fitting well with my character but the healing part sure do.

06-12-04, 08:15 PM Actually, I had the same question myself, playing a Human Cleric not devoted to a particular Diety. Changing domains wouldn't be changing religion, but changing an inclination. Penalty?

06-12-04, 08:31 PM Did you just recently get access to the Radiant Servant PrC and decided that you wanted it? If so, I'd allow you to simply change your domains as if they'd always been that way.

06-12-04, 08:44 PM No, not playing any prestige classes in this campaign, just vanilla flavour 3rd Ed. Cleric has been worked up to 7th level, and the game has evolved a bit. Just a question on domain change for standard Cleric, not devoted to any particular diety, alignment is Neutral Good.
