I'd say Cleric. It's generally considered one of the most powerful classes (like, definitely top 3 and maybe number 1). The Cleric can do more healing than the Paladin can, and with the Barbarian and Wizard on board, you won't need the Paladin's extra damage as much as you'll need the Cleric's extra cure spells.

What respectable paladin would associate with a barbarian and a rogue?

A cleric of Olidimarra would love it, and any Cleric of Kord would be up for the challenge, and even be willing to add his strength when necessary.
(just two examples...)

I agree. A paladin in that setting might just restrict the other players from playing how they want. Of course my favorite class is pallie but still...

Nothing preventing a Paladin for free advturing with a Barbarian with lost of respect, their God (and allies) calls people to do thier work from both the civilized and uncivlized lands.

the rogue well you have to take them on a case by case basade not all rogues are thieves you know.

In my currtasnt campain I have both a Paladin and a rogue (well spellthief) the Rogue is LG like the Paladin.

The major issue for the Paladin will be the Code of Conduct. There are many threads on these boards about whether or not a particular action should cost a Paladin all of his abilities. Typically a cleric has far fewer restrictions (especially a dietyless one).

It is also noted that the Paladin just does not generate haling at low levels. If you start at first level the Paladin is unlikely to have items or healing ability.

If you are starting at higher levels, the cleric can use spells to compete with the Paladin in terms of combat ability.

Paladin seems to only work if you have a specific desire to play one (because they are cool -- I like the idea of the class) or if a cleric will be given equally restrictive roleplaying issues.
