| Cheesykees05-25-05, 02:18 PM | Hi, I'm planning a Campaign with a egyptian like setting. So a cleric would become a Priest, but to put a priest in Fullplate would be a little strange. So I was thinking of giving the priest the extra wisdom bonus in AC like the Monk. Would this really unbalance the class? |

The word "cleric" is actually of latin origins (from the word clericus), so you're right that it doesn't really fit. As far as heavy armor goes, platemail was pretty much a european thing, and you may want to simply remove it entirely from the game. Still, that doesn't considerably weaken classes that tend to rely on heavy armor, such as the cleric, fighter and paladin. It does make classes like the ranger look a little more appealing (as does the harsh desert setting), but frankly it should. Classes that get along well in the desert should be more usefull in the role of an adventurer. As a side-note, be sure to have a look at Deities & Demigods for a complete "pharaonic" (read: Egyptian) pantheon that is ready and waiting for you. ~Ginger |
