I know Clerics are NOT big skill users, but i was just wondering if a couple of Knowledge skills are worth it, and which ones? Ditto Spellcraft

If you don't metagame, then knowledge skills are definitely useful in 3.5. Now, you can make a knowledge check to identify a monster with DC 10 + monster's HD. With this you get one useful piece of information, plus another piece for every 5 you beat the DC by. Again, if you don't metagame your character into knowing every monster in the book, then this is very useful. Various knowledge skills allow you to ID different types of mosters. Check the PHB or SRD to determine which ones you like the most. I prefer planes, religion, arcana, and dungeoneering.

I would tend to skip on spellcraft and concentrate on Knowledge skills. "Religion" is the obvious choice for the cleric, but any others that take your fancy are good. John_bakken had some good suggestions, but consider the deity of the god your cleric worships when you decide. E.g. a god of travelling may take on Knowledge (geography).

To me spellcraft is one of the most powerful skills around, especially to casters because you can know what the other casters are casting BEFORE the effects take place.

I think skill givens for most Cleric types, are:

Spellcraft
Concentration
Knowledge (religion)

From there on out it's personal choice.

Dude, I play a 12th cleric right now in a game.

I have a 13 INT and I am Human so I get 4 skill points a level

Spellcraft: This skill is so underrated. not only does it let you know what other casters are doing, it helps identify items like potions, and you need it for epic spellcasting. I max my spellcraft out.

Knowledge (Arcane, Religion, Planes, history) It's huge whe you use the right way. Religion is the one I have the most ranks in (again religion is needed for epic levels) I have medium ranks in Arcane and Planes and low ranks in history.

Concentration. I got high ranks in as well. not maxed but close to it.

I got a few out of class ranks in bluff and spot and low ranks in Diplomacy (my CHA is good so that doesn't matter to much)

Ok, heres the deal, im a level 1 Human Cleric, with a +2 Int bonus, so i can max out 5 skills

Concentration, Diplomacy are a cert, its just what knowledges to take, whether i should max them all out, and if i should get Spellcraft?

This is what I would do with that:

1) Spellcraft – 4 ranks
2) Concentration – 4 ranks
3) Knowledge (Religion) – 4 ranks
4) Diplomacy – 4 ranks
5) Knowledge (Arcana) – 2 ranks
6) Heal – 2 ranks

As a rule of thumb I usually use about 80% of my characters skill points at full strength and use the rest for cross class or reduced rank skills.
