| gixanthrax01-28-08, 07:13 PM | Sorry, this may sound stupid, but is there any restriction to the number of spells a cleric can learn/ knows? I'm quite familiar with the alignment restrictions but apart from that, are there any other restrictions? So does a cleric automatically know all spells (except the alignement restricted ones) from PhB? What about the spells in the Complete series or in other extensions? Is there a rule or is it DMs Rule Nr.0 ? We are a group of 6 players and 3 of us take alternating terms DMing and there are quite "some different opinions" on the clerics spells known. One DM allows all spells from nearly all wizards sources( even BoVD spells) another one allows Wisdom Mod X Level spells known without alignment restrictions and the third allows something like : "each level you gain one additional spell known per spell level acessable, but there are spells I consider broken so they are banned. - I don't care wheter it's a domain spell or not, you simply don't know it." |
| Salla01-28-08, 07:16 PM | By RAW, a cleric can prepare any spell on the general cleric list (except where alignment interferes). They do not have a limitation on spells known; they have access to every last one of 'em. That's one of the reasons clerics and druids are such powerhouses. |
| LoneFlame01-28-08, 08:44 PM | The only way Cleric has a certain number of spells known is with this variant (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/spontaneousDivineCasters.htm). |

| pigknight01-28-08, 09:36 PM | Clerics/Druids no every single cleric/druid spell (except in my campain diety-less clerics gain spellbook as an ability and guess what they have to do). |
