Cleric Turning Question [Archive] - Wizards Community

Cleric 7 / Sacred Purifier 5 / some other turning PrC 2
with the sacred ability on his shield (+2 efective lvl to turn/rebuke checks) and a Phylactery of Undead Turning (turn 4 lvls higher)

so this cleric turns undead as a 20th lvl cleric. that's fine
my question has to deal with his domain abilty, though. The moon domain allows this cleric to turn/destroy lycanthropes as a good cleric turns or destroys the undead. Does he turn lycanthropes as a 20th lvl cleric as well?

I really could go either way on this. On the one case, the Phlyactery of Undead Turning and Sacred Purifiers seem to suggest that the increase in turning ability is supposed to be for the undead, specifically. However, the moon domain says you turn lycanthropes as a good cleric turns the undead.

Doesn't matter to me, I just want to be sure

04-06-07, 03:29 AM Read the wording very carefully. The 'as' may refer to the ability itself, not the turning level.

Truth be told though, turning scales very poorly, so I wouldn't really worry if this character COULD turn lycanthropes.

The text reads almost word for word how I posted. Turn or destroy lycanthropes as a good cleric turns or destroys the undead. usable number of times per day equal to bla bla bla bla.

Even though turning scaling is pretty poor with regards to the undead, this still concerns me a little bit. Lycanthropes (unless a massive base creature is used or the template is applied to something with class lvls) won't have as many HD as similar CR undead, and will likely be extremely easy to turn.
