I was looking to take advantage of the war domains free weapon feats, but I was wanting my good aligned cleric to use a greatsword. I was liking the look of the Repose domain for my 2nd one.

I don't see any gods that fit what I'm looking for. So that would leave me with a Cleric following no diety. No diety would mean no diety's favored weapon for the war domain right?

Can you follow a diety, but vary from their domain list?

technically you don't need to worship a diety you can worhship ideas, so your cleric could worship the idea's of war and repose finding them sacred. and the only the domains you can vary are like worshiping a NG diety and you CG or LG and choosing law or chaos.

I think there actually are rules for War domain with no diety, but it may have just been 3.0 addition. I think it went based on your alignment, with the following results.

*Edit* Just look at post number 4.

So, I think that a Lawful Evil character could choose the Flail or Longsword as their favored weapon.

Though I'm not certain, I believe that a godless cleric who chooses the War domain is forced to choose a weapon based on alignment.

Good - Warhammer.
Evil - Flail.
Chaos - Battleaxe.
Law - Longsword.

A cookie to anyone who can prove that I'm not a raving lunatic making things up on the spot. :twitch:

*Edit.* Fine, beat me to it by mere seconds! See if I care!

Hmmm

I emailed the DM to see if he would let me follow Kord to some degree, but basically a newish branch. Kinda like being a Christian and choosing one of the many churchs. Or the kind of worshipper that does good for his religion, but is not strictly involved.

I'd like to find some roleplay value to it without exploiting something just to get the feats and sword I want. :)

I like the war spells and dont want to waste the feats associated with it.

Actually, DM Denubis, you are right, and after I post this, I will delete my list. Sigh, I guess thats what I get for posting so late at night.
