| arjomanes10-29-07, 08:45 PM | A Cloistered Cleric with appropriate domains could make a very good rogue-like character, but it's missing trapfinding. Is there a cleric class or feat a cleric could take that grants trapfinding? Also, aside from cloistered cleric in unerathed arcana, is there a cleric with more skills than 2+Int/level? Thank you for any help. |
| runestar10-29-07, 08:53 PM | Kobold domain (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060420a) |
| arjomanes10-29-07, 10:17 PM | Thank you. That's awesome. No kobolds allowed in our current campaign, but I love the concept. I think I'll hold onto the idea and make myself a roguish kobold cleric sometime in the future. |
| runestar10-30-07, 12:48 AM | You don't have to be a kobold to choose the kobold domain...;) |
| Lokathor10-30-07, 03:45 AM | I thought there was a rule that you had to be of a race to pick a racial domain, even without a god. Isn't there? |
| runestar10-30-07, 05:46 AM | I thought there was a rule that you had to be of a race to pick a racial domain, even without a god. Isn't there? Not that I am aware of. But then again, I don't own every single splatbook in print. Anyone care to confirm or debunk this?:) |
| Mr_Teapot10-30-07, 06:17 AM | I thought there was a rule that you had to be of a race to pick a racial domain, even without a god. Isn't there? I don't be;ieve so. Chatacter wise, it makes sense for, say, humans raised by elves to access the Elf domain. or even gnomes who hate kobolds to have the Kobold domain in a "know thy enemy" way (certainly trapfinding is useful when fighting kobolds). Alternately, you could just prepare several castings of Find Traps each day, or one persisted version of it. |
| Lokathor10-30-07, 08:08 AM | I'm probably thinking of the gods thing (racial gods only grant spells to that race), combined with the fact that in FR was the only source for the Elf domain for the longest time, which was only granted by elven specific gods (and you couldn't have godless clerics). As a result, you had to be an elf to easily pull off the cleric archer. |
| StruckingFuggle10-30-07, 10:09 AM | The way I see it, a nonkobold with the Kobold domain admires their tricksyness and seeks to venerate it and emulate it, regardless of their feelings towards the adorable little hellions. |
| Eerongal10-30-07, 10:14 AM | I believe There's a soulmeld in magic of incarnum that gives you trapfinding that you can take a feat to shape. However, if can't remember for the life of me if you need to bind it or not. If you need to bind it, this certainly makes it a rather sub-par decision. |
| LoneFlame10-30-07, 10:56 AM | Magic of Incarnum is only good for making Raziel from Soul Reaver. Everyone knows that. Also, props to any DM who has to balls to say 'shut the hell up' to the endless sea of Kobold obsessed people. Kobolds sucks. They're supposed to suck. Stop trying to make something that's not cool, cool. Kobolds are lame. Period. Anywayz. Sorry for the rant. In the Magic Item Compendium, there are these things called Arcane Thieves' Tools, which bestow the Trapfinding ability(they also let you sacrifice arcane spells to get you bonuses, but that's not relevant). |
