| Drag0nUL04-12-07, 03:44 AM | I don't think multiclassing a cleric with a dragon shaman is a very good idea. Most dragon shaman abilities are level-dependent(breath weapon, auras, touch of vitality) and getting just one level in the class doesn't help much. As for suggesting cleric multiclassing: cleric 3/wizard 3/mystic theurge seems the best to me. On the other hand, if your cleric is already level 14, the best multiclass I can think of is 2 levels of paladin. You get proficiency with martial weapons and cha bonus to saves, and you lose only 2 caster levels, meaning you still get 9th level spells. |
| Truwen04-12-07, 08:42 AM | Hmm, we intend to get into epic levels. After looking over dragon shaman it seems like it would fit in with basically any class, but you're right they don't really get good till their later levels. I will perhaps have to think on this one a little more. -Truwen |
| Harliquinn04-12-07, 09:05 AM | If you just want a Fast Healing 1 aura, Dragon Shaman 1 is fine. If you really want to focus on the draconic aspects with a sprinkle of other abilities, then you would want to dip something and take more Dragon Shaman. The highest level of Dragon Shaman isn't that great because you don't get flight until 19th level (by then you probably have other ways to fly), so you could take 2 levels of something else without much loss of DS abilities (Your auras would be 1 point less). Barbarian (for rage CON bonuses for breath weapon DC's), Cleric (for turn undead), Paladin (for Charisma synergy on saves), Warlock/Dragonfire Adept (Additional breath weapon, some useful invocations), etc. make nice dips for a Dragon Shaman. |
| Truwen04-12-07, 03:26 PM | I was considering warlock/cleric tool, but honestly im not surew hat would be good for a cleric multiclass. warlock can use med armor with a feat and not get an arcane casting penalty, but then I would lose my 35 cold resist, 10 fire resist + 5 full plate armor. Hrmm...and then theres the thing about a shield, I use a nice shield and with warlock I don't think id be able to use the shield Right? Since they aren't proficiant in it, though im already proficiant with shields so ...hmm. I dunno its just hard to decide what i want to do hehe, I don't like cleric and am more or less required ot play it since we "need" true rez. /Shrug. So I am looking for alternatives as far as multi classing goes. -Truwen |
| glacialcat04-12-07, 03:32 PM | Well if you want to combine Warlock/Cleric, look into the Eldritch Disciple prestige class in Complete Mage. Its like Mystic Theurge, but for Divine Casters/Invocation Users. You would have to loose your heavy armor and shield however. |

| Chimaera200004-13-07, 03:53 AM | You can gain another advantage from one level of dragon shaman if you have access to Dragon Magic. Dragon shamans are considered to have the dragonblood subtype, meaning that any aura you gain throught the Draconic Aura feat scales with your level. |

"Dragon shamans and Draconic Heritage The dragon shaman is a standard class introduced in players Handbook II that reveres a particular kind of dragon. Whenever a dragon shaman selects a feat or other option whose effect depends on a character's draconic heritage (from the Draconic Heritage feat), treat his totem dragon as his heritage selection. For example, if a dragon shaman who has chosen silver dragon as his totem selects the Dragonfire Assault feat, the extra damage dealt by the feat would be cold damage, as appropriate for a character with Draconic Heritage (silver)." So this means I don't need to take the Draconic Heritage feat when I am a dragon shaman, because dragon shaman gives the character the "heritage" just by becoming the dragon shaman? With that I might see if they will allow this book to be added into our campaigns. Theres some pretty good stuff in here for both the warlock, and the sorc, and from what I can tell a lot that can augment the dragon shaman. -Truwen |
