One thing i really don't like is to always recalculate character equipment and character weight. I see an increasing amount of red-ink that mods are making to character sheets due to encumberance. ANd some things that should be flagged that aren't.

PHB p.109 has the table for height/weight.

Anyone under the influence of permanent enlarge spells have their character weight x8 and equipment x2.

ANY human weighing 120lbs is not possible. Cat and MO, you guys are the largest offenders of this.

You have 6'0 tall humans weighing 120lbs. Or at least had (haven't check recently)

If you are human and are 6'0, then your minimum weight is 120+(2x14)=148lbs.
The 2 is the weight modifier (minimum is 2)
and the 14 is inches over 4'10.

I remember seeing MO's character being 7'10 and weighing 120lbs or something ridiculous like that. HAHahaha

For mounted opponents these numbers are extremely cruicial as ray of enfeeblement is a threat at any level.

Item #2. I saw someone get reduced to 1 str and still carry all their gear. While in this state you are denied dex bonus to AC (and all dodge bonuses) and only move 5' as a full round action. There are other penalties, not getting into it, i'm sure ya'll can read. So please read encumberance effects on a pc.

That's my peace for the moment.

ToK thanks for starting this thread! It needed to be here and I'm glad one of the Elder 8 is recognizing how important this issue is! I think a list of PC's who are violating the rules for this should be listed here near the top or some other public location and they should not be allowed into the arena till their PC's are fixed appropriately. This should also go for PC's who are not listing their weigh load amounts in their character sheets and are not listing weights for their gear.

Not to point fingers but Harvy 2 had about 200 lbs of gear on his 120lb body and the gall to claim

"about 100lbs" of gear on his character cheat... er sheet.

lol, if they changed their gender to female then the weights might be right.

C'mon people, unless you are scrawny wizard w/ str 6-8 you should be around at least ~150 lbs. Now, if you are like a big strong adventurer with str 14-18 muslce weighs a lot think 200-300 lbs. respecitively. Have any of you seen football players?

Yup. Like i said, some ppl are more error prone than others when it comes to calculating their height/weight and encumberance.

@Kat: i'm not looking for avg weights for the height, just legal ones. As it stands there are few legally dimensioned characters.

Wow - I didn't realize this was important. I thought stuff like height & weight was just description. I'll double-check my sheet.

I also noticed in another thread you caught money errors. Thanks Tellish.
Even with us low-level beginner guys, cash is very important. Catch the errors early if you can! Mistakes tend to exponate after the first few levels.

Height isn't so much a factor, it just determines the multiplier used for weight.

Weight and encumberance is the bigger issue of the two. Even a ray of enfeeblement for 1 or 2 pts can hamper a pc who is on the brink of encumberance penalties.

It can also be used to severely limit the mobility of mounted pc's. Encumber the horse and suddenly you just took a lot of wind of of someone's sails. This tactic has been used effectively in the past to stop deadly charges and on mounted flyers to ground them.

I have just started a thread called "Character Violations". Please post any mistakes you find in a character sheet there, so that we have a central place to check and make our corrections.

Please continue this discussion there on the new thread, as it is a central location for all "mistakes" on character sheets.

Thanks!

If given leeway in there I would make the Harvester <10 lb because there`s not much under these robes really.

Equipment calculation is a pain in the ass. This time could be better used with flaming :D

"About" is relative, right? :D No seriously, I wrote that some fights ago but bought things meanwhile without recounting the weight every time. Can`t we just do it approximately?

@cat :

As long as you're sure you're light encumberance it doesn't matter too much, but you were medium encumbered and trying to pass it off as light so that does make a bit of a difference. I really didn't think it made a difference in your fight but things should be close to reality all the same

I believe I randomly determined Bruno's height and weight, and based Zorander's weight off the height I chose. Feel free to pick your chars height, but make sure to randomly add the weight to go along with such height, its all in Chapter 6 of PHB/SRD (Description).

Note: One's encumberance level only matters if one is carrying enough weight to pass their armor's encumberance. I.E. Those in heavy armor should most be concerned if they are either mounted (not a huge deal for Harvester & Nightingale, but Atticus has to be close to toppling over under Iron's weight) or if they run the risk of having their Strengthened decreased, such as when fighting Pale Rider or Bruno... Thus, I think it would be wise for all to calculate basic carrying wieght, at least within 5lbs. I will do this for Zorander ASAP, but if it won't come up this week, I think I'd rather pass my classes ^_~. As for Bruno, I'll get him eventually, he's really only carrying that Small Scythe :)

I have reviewed Brackin and Candessa's Equipment, and listed both hight and weights for both on my sheet. I also listed the amount of the weight each is carrying, and the light load for Candy, who is only like 10lbs. away from her minimum light load. Brackin's light load is like 200lbs, and he is only carrying 20lbs, so I didn't bother to list his.

And Tellish, I went ahead and audited my characters. I found Candy had miscalculated somehow, and had 5k to much. I removed the ammount from her gold. Since she had over 23k on her, I don't think the 5k had to big an impact on any past fights, depending on when I made the error.

As for Brackin, I found him to be over 4k under what he should have. I assumed some of it was due to a past expendature not being recorded, but I added almost 4k to his sheet.

If any other Elder would be so kind, I wouldn't mind if someone would check the math. I have recorded every item bought and used and sold on my sheets, so every single coin should be on the sheet somewhere.

 ugh... guys, ahem.... am i right that only armor and equipment can slow someone down? i mean, the carrying capacity table has nothing to do with someoneīs body-weight, right?

...so as long as noone forces me to sit on a horse, itīs irrelevant how large i am or how fat, right? :P

Any thoughts on where I could find similar height and weight data for an ork? I listed Grimlock as 6'4, 295 becuase he has strength 20 and con 16, and I invision him being like an orcish Brock Lesnar. I'm guessing this is a fair size, if actually a bit too big, but I'd like to be sure.

Orcish Brock Lesner huh? If I'm not mistaken, Brock bulked up to 305'.... I'm not to sure though, I haven't seen Smackdown in over a month, since my direct TV stoped carrying that local channel.

Still, for an orc, 6'4 would be short. Half-orcs are 6 to 7 feet tall. So an orc would be at least a little taller. So were probably looking at 6' 6" as the average, at least. Then, just roll weight as an orc, but add an extra d6, since orcs are more mussle than even half-orcs. Thats how I'd do it anyway. Or, just pick a weight withen your race's "range" of weights. 295 defanitly fits the bill, so your prettymuch good to go as is.

So if your guy is the Orc Brock Lesner, when does he fight Brackin? After all, Brackin is the half-orc Bill Goldburg.

Just trying to give people an idea what their weights should be.

If someone tries to "Violently Hurl" you via telekenisis it is. :D
So if you never plan to ever be mounted, make your guy as fat and pudgy as you possibly can. LOL
