Having seen the great success Myrridin has had with running a module on these boards, I would like to initate my own P&P module.

Personally, I have a great interest in running this mini-campaign, The Banewarrens, as it was created by the great Monet Cook (who I admittedly revere) and since I am finding that I will be unable to run it here at school next year, despite my best intentions (simply put, there is no good time to run it and I do have to graduate ;))

Thusly, given the relative relaxed nature of P&P gamign (re: time) I am attempting to establish this module.

SO here's how it will go:

Being as this is the CoCO, I will only be allowing material from the COre books, and the SRD of the XPHB.

Second, if you are already involved in the Return EE module, you may sign up, but I will give precedence to others. I have nothing against those who are in RoTEE *shakes fist*, but I just want to make sure everyone has a chance to participate.

Third, I will caution that my primary time to run this thing will be from 2 PM EST to 11 PM EST. So if you run on a schedule far removed from these times, you may miss out on the action.

Presently, I will be permitting a party of 4 6th level characters to participate, with a possibility of a 5th member being added later.

We will be working with a 36 point-buy, and I will note that both combat and role-playing opportunites will come into play in this game, so all builds are welcome. It is a dangerous module, so be warned :devil: I don't make it much easier.

I will keep track of who is interested and who is on a wiating list. I invite any questions, and am always happy to see possible characters posted- Good character backgrounds & clever builds will give you a better chance of being a selected member.

1. Below one's hit points, one should list Dying/Dead: #/#
Rather than following unconscious at -1, and dying at -10, a player (and monsters/NPcs) will become staggered based on their Con Modifer (their Dying Score) and die at their Con score.

Example: Joe-Bob the Dwarf Fighter has a Con of 15.
Dying/Dead: -2/-15.
Joe-Bob will be staggered when his hp run from 0 to -2, he falls unconscious at -3 hp, and dies at -15.

Moseph the Elven Commoner has a Con of 9.
Dying/Dead: 1/9.
Moseph will be staggered when his hp reaches 1, falls unconscious at 0, and dies at -9.

Xel'Tarof the Xill Tank has a Con of 32.
Dying/Dead: -11/-32.
Xel'Tarof will be staggered when his hp range from 0 to -11, falls unconscious at -12, and dies at -32 hp.

Banewarrens is an extensive dungeon-crawl with a reasonable amount of NPC interaction- very smilar to Return to EE in its scope. It reflects a "defeat terrible evil" scheme, but does not require an individual character to be entirely focused on that goal from the outset. Feel no limitations on your story, and keep in mind that by 6th level, each of you weilds a fair amount of power to the avergae individual.

SO count on being in dangerous locales, fighting savage monsters, and dealing with a bit of mystery/intrigue on the side.

I will hold off on selecting the party until I actually see some builds, but Druid and Ender, you guys are certainly welcome to post your characters, as first come = first served :)

Edit: Yup, the 3.5 Psionics are permitted, and I'll be happy to help you learn them if you want to make such a character.

"P&P" is the acronym for "Post & Play", which simply explains how these games are played.

Being on the waiting list is no problem, I'm there myself :D

Storn is a very gruff dwarf who has lived on the surface for almost thirty years now. His clan moved to the nearby town of Hillsfar because of the good ore there. Storn served in the city guard for several years, earning himself a well-deserved reputation as a beserker. He would charge headlong into battle, heedless of the odds. After learning to protect his home, he set out into the wild to learn how to protect himself better. After several years in the wild, he returned to find that the town was even more prosperous than ever. Quickly becoming tired of the sedentary life that Hillsfar had to offer, he set out onto the road to find adventure, and is still looking as of now.
Standing 4'7" tall, he has the hard features of a seasoned veteran and the scars to prove that he is one. With his trusty greatsword, Growler, he fights as a Dwarf possessed. Wading into battle with his bright mail with the dragon emblazoned across the front, he shies from nothing and is a sight to behold.
He has a very developed sense of honor, and, despite not thinkning that the "civilized" life is the best for everyone, he knows that as a good person, it is his fate in life to protect those weaker than himself. He hopes that, someday, he will make his clan proud (they did not all approve of his leaving to look for adventure), and help the name of Rivenshield become legend. His attempts to date have fallen somewhat short of accomplishing this, but he is a seasoned veteran nonetheless. His fight with the drake at Coldwater made him a local hero for saving the town, but the notoriety soon wore off for him, and he moved on. Afraid of nothing but boredom and being caged in the trappings of civilization, he always looks for the next mountain to climb.

Wow.. I should have expected this quick a response, huh? Alright, Druid, Ender, Sindorin, & Beldin were the first to respond.

I think that the best is when the players are uniformely sprayed in the world, as that way there's a post any three or four hours in average, with a good continuity.

Bio:

“So, there I was… standing at the edge of the pier, awaiting the arrival of the ship bearing my love, Ara. The ship arrived in port, and my heart began beating rapidly… as I awaited the captain’s orders to disembark the ship, I saw her kissing with the first mate… my love, Ara, kissing… him. The next thing I knew, The ship was aflame, the Ara, her father the captain, the first mate, and the crew were all swimming to the edge of the pier, and I was sweating, completely exhausted. I left town that night, ashamed at my actions and shattered at my loss. However, my emotions… those are what have made me strong. My five year journey has helped me learn to control my anger, and focus all other states into the same power. I feel at times that I have mastered all… except one day I received a parchment by carrier pidgeon from an anonymous sender.
It contained a riddle:

"Most will desecrate me by their interpretation.
Many will mistake me for something else.
I am often thrown around prematurely.
There is a lot to learn about me,
and few know who I really am.
Everyone can fall into me.
What am I?

"To this day I have not been able to figure out the answer… I keep the riddle still, hoping some day to solve this cryptic work.” – Sokai

Sokai Calanis comes forth from the eastern coast in good spirits, hoping to adventure into unknown realms, find treasure, and possibly bring glory to his family name after his father was exiled from his hometown of Reston because of gambling debts, and his own incident at the pier. This is how he lets on to others. His real goal: find love.

He is usually rather quiet, only speaking up when his emotions direct him to, and much like his father, is very persistent to the point where it will get him in trouble. He often goggles at any attractive woman, and it is unsure whether this is a rebound from the hurt he has experienced with Ara, or if it is genuine attraction that he feels justly. His quiet reserved nature allows him to observe the opposite sex with great interest, and he also finds women of races such as elves and humans (and the occasional halfling) especially attractive.
When faced with a fight, Sokai tends to forget about bottling everything up and cuts loose, knowing of course that his life is on the line, and those of any companions he may be traveling with. Although he hasn’t found love yet, Sokai greatly appreciates friendship and trust, and is very eager to give his own.

The first feature one notices when taking their first glance at Sokai Calanis is his skin. His skin is lightly tanned w/ tiny yellow and slightly larger (but still small) blue crystals embedded , along with a few tatoos. Along with his skin, Sokai's long black hair, gray eyes, and reserved disposition give some the misconception that he is a low-level Dragon Disciple, whereas more knowledgeable people observe him as a Maenad, how he really is.
Sokai wears a dark blue cloak with armor underneath, and when travelling carries a backpack full of goodies often known as "Sokai's Bag of Tricks." A bastard sword hangs sheathed from his belt under the cloak where he can simply reach between the fold of his cloak to draw it, and a large crossbow also hangs from his back.

Party Relationships
-Verosast Ki: Sokai sees the halfling as a welcome addition to the group, bringing many skills. To himself she is a model of female behavior, which, pending on her demeanor, can easily lead Sokai to certain misconceptions about women.
-Storn Rivenshield: Sokai is understanding of the dwarf's gruff demeanor, not only because he is dwarf, but also because Sokai knows what it feels like to be disliked in one's hometown. He hopes to help Storn dispel enmity between he and his family.
-Zan: Sokai greatly admires the elves, hence why he has taken the time to learn their tongue. In Zan, Sokai admires the wizard's great intelligence, and looks to him often just to see what the intelligent elf will say. He also admires that Zan is adventuring for himself rather than indulging in his family's wealth.
-Thynian: Sokai is a very curious fellow, and Thynian's religious practices greatly interest him. Were it not for Sokai's chaotic bent, he might even take further interest in the subject. He respects it nonetheless.

Overall, Sokai is a very open-minded individual to everyone's problems, past and present.

Zan is about 5 in a half feet tall, very slender, and kind of pale. He wears blue robes, a black cloak, and a black headband. Around his waist is a black, many pocketed sash with a silver rod tucked in it.

Zan is a slightly arrogent, yet well mannered individual, with a love of knowledge and all things magical. He can be cruel at times, more concerned with himself then others.

@Ender - NICE looking wizard, I like that big fat 23 on Int. You may want to watch your item costs though, but i'll wait for Mag's word on that. I'd also watch the spells in your book, as here in the Core Coliseum it can be quite costly to scribe spells into it.

Hmm, if you think the prospect of a sorceror, wilder, and wizard is bad, my first campaign group (which is entering the 3rd year RL of my campaign) was as follows:

Weirdest group I've had yet ;) Strangely, the half-fey Swashbuckler Duelist makes me long for the old days :-P

See, the Half-fiend [LN] chose to manipulate negative energy. And the psion could take some hits, but he honestly couldn't hit at all (did crit on some skels a few times though)

The only meleer could be the aasimar, and he was using his bare fists with a Str of 14... so he didn't hit much and nearly died from a crit by a Large skeleton (his hp & AC were low to say the least).

I agree, it worked out, but it was truly a non-standard group (when faced with SR and Fast Healing, they certainly ran into difficulties)

Don't worry about offending, I have the curse of dial up, and I happen to get disconnected about every 30 seconds. That means that when I click the edit button, sometimes it disconnectes me but still brings up an outdated offline version, which I continue to edit. I only just recently noticed this. I put the carrying capacity and how much weight I have next to my move speed, and put how much gold I spent by the items with the total spent and total remaining under the equipement. I am still catching a couple of things missing, (like a list of scrolls I had that disapeared) so let me know if there's still something wrong.

I don't know if my "6.5k" rule is being confused, ti only means that you should be able to take any three of your items, add their prices together, and they do not exceed 6500 gp. This is simply to cut down on a player buying only 4 powerful items (which can leave them less than versatile and prevents the abuses of a fully chged Wand of Fireball in a 6th level game ;))

In Zan's case, I presume your Rod is your most expensive item @ 3000 gp, so as long as any two other items don't cost over 3.5k, you're golden.

I saw you had a Ring of Protection, and that its gone now.. you're more than welcome to buy it, my friend, as 3k+2k= 5k, which means any other item you own can be up to 1.5k. As I said before, this is only a limit vs. total min/maxing, and you don't seem to be crossing that line right now.

Re: posts I'm simply testing and learning how to build battlemaps on the boards :) You'll enjoy Quoting me rather than making them yourselves :)

Edit: Other than maybe the confusion re: items, it all looks good :). So just feel free to get some more items with your cash, scribe scrolls, whatever ya feel like :).

Thynian wears yust functional clothes, since he is on the road the last 6 years. His armor and shield have no decoration or signs, but they are well cared for. He tries to keep clean, but thats difficult on the road. His clothes are usually dark-grey or black.
Thynian is not easily recognizeable as a priest of Wee Jas. But if he is asked he does not deny his goddess
Personality:
Before he met his "master" he was open minded, fast to anger and wanted to right every wrong he encountered. As long as that had nothing to do with his past, his father encouraged him to do so. He struck to that after his father disappeared, but getting money for wenching and drinking was more important then.
That has changed. Now he is much calmer and usually the problems of others are not of his concern. He has grown quiter and calmer. He does not want to know if thats simply because he has grown more adult or if its a subtle manipulation of Wee Jas.
He is not fast to make friends, but he has grown accustomed to his companions

1. I know there is no minimum CL on crafting items (aside from having the spell) but for records sake, could you please list crafted Magic items with their CL if not the same as the book? (I.e. Amulet of Health [+2] (CL 3rd)

For money, Beldin, perhaps scrolls? There's always some nice Cleric spells you may neglect to memorize, and the scrolls can cover that.

I'm afraid Jindl's correct on this one, as the PHB (and likely SRD) states that all lawful neutral clerics of Wee Jas convert to Inflict, just as all clerics of St. Cuthbert and non-evil followers of Obad-hai convert to Cure.

Personally, I think your 2 CLW wands will cover you, but this is your call if you wish to change Deity or alignment (you can convert to cure if your LG, but I'd need an amazing reason to have a LG follower of the Queen of the Dead).

Anecdotaly: My current RL campaign group's character is LN and converts to Inflict, but some mem'd spells and many Wands of Curing have seen them clear up to 16th level. And I think Snark has found converting to Inflict to be a nice way of softening up a nasty meleer.

Just some thoughts.

Thynian changed a little bit, now he is a bit more priest and a bit less fighter since we have someone who can melee much better.

Why not name our group Sokai's Blades, since he is the charismatic guy. The name is simple but everyone would get a good impression of what we are.
Of course we could be something like The Dragon's Claws or the Bloody Mummers...

Hehe, remember, that's not how Sokai will let on. That's a deep down motive. I may RP him to play 'hard to get' if you mess around with that :). He fell too easily and is reluctant to do so again, so it may take some time.

As you're working on your character, Jindl, don't forget that your three msot expensive items (well, any three items really) cannot cost more than 6.5k altogether. The Circlet of persuasion is well and good, but remember that all the rest of your items may not cost more than 1000 gold each.

*nod* Just so you were aware- powers and stats look good, skill points seem to have 73 out of 63 skill pts spent, but I'm sure that's just a work in progress. I'd say you'll want her done by Friday or Saturday so I can approve and integrate her into the group.

I understand, I figured as much, but it would have been cool, and would have set up the Wilder to be practically a perfect build for the DD.

I just figured a bonus spell could mean a bonus power known or something like that, the knowledge arcana could be changed to knowledge psionics... making such a class would be really simple and COOL.
