Debate: CoCo Advertising [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-26-04, 02:42 PM Hey gang! We have to spread the word! If we want to keep having fun every week with battles galore and see the continued growth of the Core Coliseum, then people have to know where to find us! What better way to tell people where we are than to include some catchy and exciting lines to our taglines?

Why do we need more people?
Many people want to earn credits faster. Some just want to be able to see their characters fight every week. I would like to see a fuller, more detailed city of Gladius! As it stands right now, we are coming up on a point where the lower levels are thinned out and many of the players with level 13 characters have several characters at the lower levels too; this may place a limit on how many characters fight once the 13s are active again.

Why advertise?
To get the word out! Some people may wander here form time to time and some hear about it from friends, but the best way to attract new people is to find some way that people are going to read about us from time to time. Most people have their signature settings to allowing them and a few lines is all it takes to get peoples attention. Make it colorful, make it catchy - just get their attention!

Why my signature?
Well, you are here having a good time and enjoy what we have, right? Well, wouldn’t everyone else like to have as good a time as you are having?

But I don’t visit many of the other boards…
Well, now might be the time to start. The Wizards.COMmunity boards have a lot to offer and you might just find some inspiration for your next character, get some pointers on making more colorful characters or even just get information on the new supplements that our hitting the shelves next week. There is a lot out there and the more we share with other boards, the greater presence we have!

We have all discussed various ways of 'Advertising' ourselves to the rest of the boards, and here is where I say that EVERYONE who is a member of the CoCo should post their thoughts and agree to some creative and colorful lines to put into our Signatures. The ideas should be catchy and exciting. Something that piques peoples interest and makes them want to follow the link. This is especially important for those out there who spend much time on other boards.

07-26-04, 10:32 PM The CoCo can support far more gladiators than we have now. We only use a fraction of our capacity! ...and only a fraction of all members.

The wizards boards have as many as 93,000 members, and this number increases daily. The CoCo however has only about 40 members, a tiny number of this, ~0.005%. If only 50 or 100 of these 90k would flock to the CoCo, we would have a significant increase, doubling and tripleing our numbers!

I'm sure many of these people would love to participate in the CoCo if they'd only knew about it! That's the reason why we have to make more advertisement! As Brian said, put a link to the CoCo into your sig but use the expression "Core Coliseum" since no one knows what Gladius is. And also lose a word that it's about "Testing builds"

You might visit other boards from time to time and even if it's only once a year - if only one person joins us because of your sig, it was a success.

I want to ask you to make this small change to your signature!

Especially the Elders as prime representants should add a line or two including a link to the forum but every other one is encouraged to do so aswell.

Ask your friends!
As another possibility, ask your friends at home. Tell them about this place and explain it to them. Try to convince them to give it a try. This might not be successful when trying to talk your mom into this but almost everyone of you has a D&D group and one or two of them might be interested!

Conventions!
Cons are held everywhere around the globe, some are small, some huge but in any case, you'll get acquainted with a lot of people. Tell them about the CoCo. Make them give it a chance! Post advertisments - and if it's just a piece of paper - on blackboards!

Roleplaying Stores!
Every city has at least one roleplaying store where all the players meet. And they surely have a blackboard where you can leave a message. Post the address of this board! Write some lines, explain them what it is about and that it is a lot of fun! Make them long for the CoCo!!

Anything else?
If you have other ideas, tell us!! Post your suggestion here - it is greatly appreciated - and even if it is a minor thing, every bit helps! Members of the CoCo, help us to grow, to make this a better place, a bigger place. The more gladiators are out there, the more fun it will be!

For those of you heading off to college, don't forget that there are plenty of gamers there!

Still in public school? Start up a Role Playing Club after school! I did this in my High School years ago and it was a legacy of mine that lasted for over 10 years. If you want any adivce or input, feel free to write me...

If you want to add a link remember to include the name 'Core Coliseum' into the signature. No one knows what Gladius is or who your characters are.

It is nice to see them all over the place and hopefully many of you are visiting other boards and not just advertising to us. There are always conventions, gaming shops, friends and other sigs to advertise in. Do try to get the word out. The more we have, the more we have to offer. Much like a real city, the more people we have here the more diversity and excitement we will have!
