This Poll is for Core Coliseum Elders only!

- Elders are Pittbull, LLMadCow, Tellish of Ket, Huan, and King Uther -

Elders, this poll will be closed automatically in 3 days from now on (saturday). If you haven't voted by then, you abstain. On the other hand it would be better to think about it again before you vote.

Note to myself: Include a "I am no Elder" option next time.

Sorry Steve :(

You've been away along with Jindl, Druid, and Cellardweller. I had to nominate new Elders, and along with it, new responsibilities. Perhaps there will be a free spot soon when I throw out LLMadCow for abusing the Size7 tag, Uther for not updating his Questlogs, or Huan for always writing Arachangel :D

That's pretty much what I figured. Maybe Huan thought Ixenthor had four arms, two legs, and then those wings made of light - that would give him 8 limbs, and thus the title "Arachangel" would be fitting...

I'll let the poll be decided - I'm probably not supposed to be posting here anyway

You need to create a sig, Hobbey. And pick an avatar.

@Caterane
Yeah, yeah. :P

Well, during a discussion on this, Maverick_Knight brought up a good point that Psicrystals have no attack mode, but are still allowed to deliver touch attacks. Checking up in the RAW for guidance:
PSICRYSTAL
Diminutive Construct
Hit Dice: As master’s HD (hp 1/2 master’s)
Initiative: +2
Speed: 30 ft. (6 squares), climb 20 ft.*
Armor Class: 16 (+4 size, +2 Dex*), touch 16, flatfooted 14
Base Attack/Grapple: +0/–17
Attack: —
Full Attack: —
Space/Reach: 1 ft./0 ft.
Special Attacks: —
Special Qualities: Construct traits, hardness 8, psicrystal granted abilities (improved evasion, personality, self-propulsion, share powers, sighted, telepathic link)
Saves: As master’s saves
Abilities: Str 1*, Dex 15*, Con —, Int 6, Wis 10, Cha 10
Skills: Climb +14*, Listen +6, Move Silently +6, Search +2, Spot +6
Feats: Alertness
Environment: Any
Organization: Solitary
Challenge Rating: Included with master
Treasure: None
Alignment: As master
Advancement: —
Level Adjustment: —
*With self-propulsion ability activated.
The psicrystal described here is that of a 1st-level manifester.

COMBAT
A psicrystal’s characteristics depend on its master. Its Hit Dice are equal to its master’s Hit Dice (counting only levels in psion or wilder), its hit points are equal to half its master’s, and its saving throw bonuses are the same as its master’s.

Construct Traits: A psicrystal has immunity to poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, disease, death effects, necromancy effects, mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects), and any effect that requires a Fortitude save unless it also works on objects or is harmless. It is not subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain. It cannot heal damage, but it can be repaired. Psicrystals do not have the usual construct traits of darkvision and low-light vision.
Psicrystal Granted Abilities: The psicrystal described here has the special abilities of self-propulsion, alertness, improved evasion, share powers, telepathic link, sighted, and personality (If its master chooses not to activate the self-propulsion ability, the psicrystal reverts to a speed of 0 feet and has no Strength score and no Dexterity score.)
Skills: A psicrystal (with its self-propulsion ability activated) uses its Dexterity modifier instead of its Strength modifier on Climb checks. It has a +8 racial bonus on Climb checks and can always choose to take 10, even if rushed or threatened.

Nope, no attack mode... just like Toads/Bats.

For famliars:
Deliver Touch Spells (Su): If the master is 3rd level or higher, a familiar can deliver touch spells for him. If the master and the familiar are in contact at the time the master casts a touch spell, he can designate his familiar as the “toucher.” The familiar can then deliver the touch spell just as the master could. As usual, if the master casts another spell before the touch is delivered, the touch spell dissipates.

For psicrystals:
Deliver Touch Powers (Su): If the owner is 3rd level or higher, his psicrystal can deliver touch powers for him. If the owner and psicrystal are in contact at the time the owner manifests a touch power, he can designate his psicrystal as the “toucher.” The psicrystal can then deliver the touch power just as the owner could. As usual, if the owner manifests another power before the touch is delivered, the touch power dissipates.
Pretty much identical in wording.

So, under that train of logic, it seems acceptable to extend the conclusion that toads/bats (through whatever means of the imagination) can deliver touch attacks despite having no normal means of attacking naturally (just like psicrystals).

This was a long, tough, debate. I have always said yes, and here is one of the biggest arguements I use to support it:

Fact #1: A shrieker has no means of attack.
Fact #2: The [Formian] queen does not fight.
Fact #3: The ONLY two instances [in the Monster Manual] where a creature has no means of attack are both clearly listed in the book, and the description expressly states that the creature has no means to attack.
Fact #4: The shrieker and the Formian Queen are the ONLY two creatures with no STR and no DEX.
Fact #5: When you have a listed strength of "-", your attack is based off of your Dex. So, when your Str and Dex are both "-", then you have no means of attacking.

So, it is reasonable to conclude that anything having EITHER a Str or a Dex can attack; it all comes down to can they actually damage anything.
