| Pitlords12-08-04, 04:03 PM | Please stop editing your characters... NOW. |
| Caterane12-08-04, 04:16 PM | SINDORIIIIIN!!! :tantrum: :nonono: :D |
| Beldin12-08-04, 04:46 PM | @Ashenai: Please consider Rhaegar ready so that he can fight Herrix, I had no time to edit him today. thx Beldin |
| Pittbull12-08-04, 06:05 PM | Please send your tactics as soon as possible, I'll be quite busy at weekend and the sooner I get the more is possible, that I'll be able to post the fights on friday. Jindl, this is exspecially for you, I'll do the best I can, but I'm not sure, you'll find a mistake. ;) To avoid any delay, please hurry. Thanks a lot! Tactics needed from: - Taryn Thunderstorm (Jindl) - Cliché Ferech (Sindorin) ----> got it!canceled - Sin (Kemal) - Ragnarr (scaryfroman) - Malsvir (Piuro) EDIT: Tactic for Hagrid has been sent! |
| cellardweller12-08-04, 08:07 PM | Headband of Intellect (+4) 11200 gp (crafted by Adele) Ash, Adele isn't allowed to craft items, can I assume you will just replace this with a +2 instead? |
| Huan12-08-04, 08:41 PM | Tactics for Ixenthor received. EDIT: Yeah, Caterane has explained to me the new system quite nicely. |
| Pitlords12-08-04, 08:44 PM | Pairings (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=2700233&postcount=3) are complete. Tactics are due by Friday, and the fights are due by Monday. Please post all questions, comments, and concerns regarding the fights here. Credit changes: Pittbull, Huan: +2 Snommelp, Ayatoshi, Battousai2005, Scaryfroman, T'Var, LLMadCow, Caterane: +1 Jindl, Cellardweller, Beldin: -1 Also, I'd like to call everyone's attention to the great stories penned by Caterane (part 1 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4957873), part 2 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4957934)), Sindorin (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4966330), Battousai2005 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4980157), and Huan (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4981647). These people all get another +1 credit for their efforts, and we'd like to encourage everyone else to write stories as well, if they have time! And if you don't have the time, maybe you could still write cool little vignettes like those in scaryfroman's (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4839993), Piuro's (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4975567), Snommelp's (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4989156), or Ayatoshi's (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4993178) fights? No credits for those, but they still brighten up a fight by a lot, and make things more fun for everyone. :) (uh, why is everyone looking at me?) Finally, please take note (especially Huan): The Ildechai-Ixenthor match will take place using new, experimental rules for spellcasting. The details will be given in Ildechai's tactics. Let's get it ON! |
| Ashenai12-08-04, 08:47 PM | Ash, Adele isn't allowed to craft items, can I assume you will just replace this with a +2 instead? Uh, yes, of course. Sorry about that. I haven't touched Ildechai at all since his last fight, except for setting him to "ready", and I forgot to fix this error. |
| Sindorin12-08-04, 11:15 PM | SINDORIIIIIN!!! :tantrum: :nonono: :D YO HO HO A PIRATE'S LIFE FER ME! :evillaugh |
| Sindorin12-09-04, 12:08 AM | @ Pittbull - Tactics sent as quick as could be, as per request. @ MysticMonk2005 - I notice that your level 2 rolled out and that Pard is not fighting. If you wish, I could bring Tair Malek out of retirement (though he may require a bit of editing on his cohort's part, because it was all messed up) and we could have our fight - I have an extra credit from story that could be used so I can get an extra character out. Just let me know. |
| T'Var12-09-04, 12:28 AM | Huan, could you roll Init for T'Var vs Lance would help in writing tactics thanks |
| Sindorin12-09-04, 12:36 AM | For MysticMonk2005 and Pitlords (if Mystic agrees): Tair Malek (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=3330034&postcount=140) Edit: Illyx and Cliche's tactics have both been PM'd to the respective pitlord. Have fun, mateys! |
| LLMadCow12-09-04, 12:51 AM | @Caterane - I have sent the tactics for the Herrix vs Rhaegar fight. Wish me luck! :D |
| Ayatoshi12-09-04, 06:55 AM | I have a question about why my new character was never even accnowlaged I wanted her to fight this week |
| Ashenai12-09-04, 07:13 AM | If you're talking about Swift, please read the Character Violations thread; specifically, the post made by Pitlords. |
| Ayatoshi12-09-04, 07:36 AM | I was aware that they start at level 2 but I wanted to spen the credits I had because I had three and had been planning on making her at level 3 |
| Huan12-09-04, 08:20 AM | Tactics received for Lance. |
| T'Var12-09-04, 08:32 AM | tactics received for Illyx Solus (Sindorin) and Tara Brightblade (Snommelp) still need them from Luken the Renegade (Huan) Khalil Odar (KerlanRayne) |
| Snommelp12-09-04, 11:14 AM | Tactics still needed for both Razor the Storm and Tard Longfellow. I accept tactics in the form of PMs, e-mails, candygrams, or barbershop singing telegrams. |
| Beldin12-09-04, 11:30 AM | @Cat: tactics for Rhaegar have been sent. Do not use magic missles; that would be stupid. |
| Beldin12-09-04, 11:56 AM | @Sindorin: you got an e-mail, too! ;) |
| Sindorin12-09-04, 12:26 PM | I sure did, and I sure did reply. |
| Jindl12-09-04, 01:35 PM | @Pitlords - Why is Taryn paired with Cliche? Cliche's header says he is sitting out to let the Sindorin's other character fight. Taryn should be facing Malsvir (instead of Piuro having his only PC be forced to sit out.) Is this something you want to correct? Or should I go ahead and write tactics against Cliche? -Jindl |
| Pitlords12-09-04, 06:18 PM | Thanks for the heads-up; it was a mistake. Taryn will be fighting Malsvir instead. Credit changes: Sindorin +1 |
| Sindorin12-09-04, 07:05 PM | Yeah, I had wondered about that, too. Sorry for in a way causing all the confusion, I decided last minute that I was more interested in Illyx's progression than I was in Cliche's and switched their ready statuses. Writing tactics for Cliche was fun. Arrr. the Sindorin's :D I felt obligated to make one of my level 4's sit out a week since there is an odd number... last week was kind of mean on my part, IMO, because I think someone sat out while Illyx and Cliche both fought and won... and possibly may continue to do so... leaving an odd man out because of a roll that IMHO was not needed. We could add a pairing rule stating that if a player has two or more PC's at one level they should only ready one in case of oddness and have the other stated as "secondarily ready" or some similar indication, so as to benefit people other than me that like to work on one character at a time, that way everyone at least has one character getting paired. |
| Battousai200512-09-04, 07:16 PM | Got tactics from T'var and sent them for Prince. If I could get a conferm on those, it would be great. |
| Huan12-09-04, 11:06 PM | Tactics for T'Var received. Proceeding with T'Var vs Lance fight... Tactics for Luken have been sent to T'Var (via help from Zepher, thank you man.) You see, my computer was down from storms over here, so Zepher, my buddy in real life, helped me out by relaying my tactics for me (just this one time). I hope no one's upset about that... Still waiting on tactics from Ildechai Hazewever (Ashenai) |
| Ashenai12-09-04, 11:27 PM | Heads-up for Jindl: after clarifying how Blindsight can detect incorporeal creatures (it can't), I allowed Snark to switch the Blindsight power on his construct out for Concussion. |
| KerlanRayne12-10-04, 03:57 AM | I was aware that they start at level 2 but I wanted to spen the credits I had because I had three and had been planning on making her at level 3Credits can only be used to compensate for racial hit dice and level adjustment, not regular class levels. KerlanRayne |
| T'Var12-10-04, 08:13 AM | Illyx vs Luken is up, a bit one sided, speed+long range=win |
| Ashenai12-10-04, 08:36 AM | Quick note: saves are never impossible. A roll of 20 is always a success (and a 1 is always a failure), regardless of DC. Please roll that last save. :) |
| T'Var12-10-04, 08:44 AM | Quick note: saves are never impossible. A roll of 20 is always a success (and a 1 is always a failure), regardless of DC. Please roll that last save. :) fixed, rolled a 16+4=20 for the save, didnt change the outcome thanks for the catch Ashenai |
| Sindorin12-10-04, 02:38 PM | @ MadCowTemplate I don't have tactics for Lorelei yet. Please send them before noon on saturday so I can get the fight running. Thanks. edit: Lorelei won initiative, if that helps your tactic writing any. |
| Kaigan12-10-04, 05:35 PM | @Snommelp: Sent tactics for Tard via email |
| Jindl12-10-04, 10:06 PM | @Pittbull - Tactics for Taryn have been PM'd. Please respond with any ?'s. @Ashenai - I'm working on Anna's tactics now. I'll try to get them out tonight :( Thanks for the heads-up on blindsight -> concussion. -Jindl |
| SnarkHunter12-10-04, 10:30 PM | Tactics for Evram sent out, best of luck to Jindl and Ashenai. |
| Zepher12-10-04, 10:54 PM | Tactics for Razor sent to Snommelp, sorry to be a little late. :( |
| Snommelp12-11-04, 01:13 AM | Tactics recieved for both Tard and Razor. I guess that means I won't get to have them fight with salmon while being ridden by kobolds... |
| Ashenai12-11-04, 06:36 AM | Tactics sent for Ildechai Hazeweaver (to Huan) and Moksha Jehannum (to LLMadCow). Sorry about the lateness, things are kinda hectic here right now. Tactics for Evram received. Tactics for Anna NOT RECEIVED. Jindl, please get tactics to me ASAP. I'd hate to run this fight without tactics for Anna. |
| LLMadCow12-11-04, 07:20 AM | All tactics have been received for my fight. Hopefully will post fight by Sunday night. Any story ideas from either gladiator? |
| Sindorin12-11-04, 09:05 AM | Tactics for Lorelei have not been received. She does have default tactics, but I would rather have actual written ones. I'll probably be running the fight tomorrow, so please get them in today at some point. Thanks |
| Huan12-11-04, 09:15 AM | Tactics received for Ildechai, thank you. |
| Jindl12-11-04, 12:18 PM | @Ash - Anna's tactics sent via PM. -Jindl |
| Battousai200512-11-04, 06:02 PM | Cremator vs. Aureus is up. Please excuse the ramblings of my madness. Or, should I say, /\/\4|)|\|355? |
| Ashenai12-11-04, 08:21 PM | Anna's tactics received. |
| Sindorin12-11-04, 11:04 PM | @ Battousai The battle for l33tness is possilbly one of the funniest things I've read on here. *props* |
| Battousai200512-11-04, 11:17 PM | @ Battousai The battle for l33tness is possilbly one of the funniest things I've read on here. *props* Thanks. Just goes to show what a little inginuity and a lot of boredom can accomplish! |
| Sindorin12-11-04, 11:45 PM | When Riding Dogs Attack... Lorelei vs. Zhaiyad (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5033078&postcount=1101) is up. |
| Snommelp12-12-04, 04:25 AM | Tard Longfellow vs. Razor the Storm (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5034148) is up. Will Razor fare better than he did last time I ran him? Tune in to find out! BTW, it's almost 2:30 in the morning here and now, so any mistakes I made will be blamed on me being tired. |
| Beldin12-12-04, 06:27 AM | @sindorin: Autsch! a small mistake I noticed: He then casts Blindness at Lorelei (Lorelei Will Save: 9+5=14vs.DC17, fails) should be: (Lorelei Fort Save: 9+7+2(pro evil) =18vs DC19(10+2lvl+4int+1nec+2fox cunning), fails) |
| Sindorin12-12-04, 09:51 AM | @sindorin: Autsch! a small mistake I noticed: He then casts Blindness at Lorelei (Lorelei Will Save: 9+5=14vs.DC17, fails) should be: (Lorelei Fort Save: 9+7+2(pro evil) =18vs DC19(10+2lvl+4int+1nec+2fox cunning), fails) I see... that's funny, because I think I did use a fort save in Zhaiyad's last fight, and for some reason I have reverted to giving the victim a will save. Silly me. oh well, as long as the outcome wouldn't change or anything. I think I probably misread your dc's on your spell list, which, now that I think about it, are for necromancy spells, something I completely forgot to look at. I don't think it would have changed anything, so I'll let it be unless it really should be fixed. I am sorry about what happened :). My dice have a mind of their own. |
| T'Var12-12-04, 02:46 PM | Cremator vs. Aureus is up. Please excuse the ramblings of my madness. Or, should I say, /\/\4|)|\|355? OMG I have never laughed so much!!! the multi translations were sweet! 1 little thing that didnt affect the outcome though Basically stand at the starting point manifest Expansion on myself and use all 3 power points to make its duration 10 minutes. Then start pandering to the crowd holding action for him to become visible. Now ill take a few early hits so hopefully it wont cost me much. Erm, it actually comes to 1 minute, or 10 rounds actually the reason i spent 3 pps is because, 1=manifests and the other two Augment: You can augment this power in one or more of the following ways. 1. If you spend 6 additional power points, this power increases your size by two size categories instead of one. You gain a +4 size bonus to Strength, a -4 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum effective Dexterity score of 1), a -2 size penalty on attack rolls, and a -2 size penalty to Armor Class due to your increased size. 2. If you spend 6 additional power points, you can manifest this power as a swift action instead of a standard action. 3. If you spend 2 additional power points, this power’s duration is 10 minutes per level rather than 1 round per level. great fight and worth an extra credit for the story IMHO |
| Ayatoshi12-12-04, 07:38 PM | Round 6: Aureus: Listen check: 16+5=21 vs. 10-god knows what. Panicks. Urm, at this point, you are basically screwed. Its grapple time anyway, so I'll at least make you prepared. Manifests his mind blade. Cremator: Engages into a grapple: Touch attack: 11+7=18 vs flat footed and touch ac...yah. Grapple started. Grapple check: 16+15=31. Resist: 9+3=12. Damage: 12. Aureus: 20/32 (-1,-4) Vigor 4/10, SoF 3/10 Cremator: 24/24 (-1,-4) Expansion 6/10 Many errors here... 1) I heard him right next to me why didn't I attack Now for theat grapple 1) He's not raging minus -2 to attack 2) no +2 from invis 3) I keep my dex to AC (2+3 from blind fight feat) so in the end 7+7=14 vs 16 fail |
| T'Var12-12-04, 08:22 PM | Khalil vs Tara EDIT: re-read rules in disabled, and that changed the outcome |
| T'Var12-12-04, 08:35 PM | Many errors here... 1) I heard him right next to me why didn't I attack dont know, but even a max dmg crit would not have dropped me, and because of reach moving more than 5 feet would have provoked an AoO and also a charge attack bonuses on Cremator's action Now for theat grapple 1) He's not raging minus -2 to attack 2) no +2 from invis 3) I keep my dex to AC (2+3 from blind fight feat) so in the end 7+7=14 vs 16 fail 1)He didnt put that in but it is clear in my tactics to rage before the grapple attack but reading Blindfighting feat, number 2 and 3 are correct. so it would infact be 11(rolled)+7(str bonus including rage an enlarged)=18 vs 14(i have to hit your touch ac not your flat footed AC) Hit |
| Snommelp12-12-04, 08:54 PM | Double KO? Oh no! Actually, looking in the PHB I don't think Khalil could have gotten that second shot. In the description of Rapid Shot it says you have to do a full attack, which is a full round action (Pages 99 and 143 of the PHB). However, you can only do a standard action or a move action when you're disabled (Page 145 of the PHB). Feel free to double-check this, but I believe Tara survives to collect Khalil's ear. EDIT: You work fast, T'Var! I went to get some dinner, brought it back up to my room to eat it, and the fight had already been fixed! I am impressed! |
| Ayatoshi12-12-04, 09:47 PM | dont know, but even a max dmg crit would not have dropped me, and because of reach moving more than 5 feet would have provoked an AoO and also a charge attack bonuses on Cremator's action 1)He didnt put that in but it is clear in my tactics to rage before the grapple attack but reading Blindfighting feat, number 2 and 3 are correct. so it would infact be 11(rolled)+7(str bonus including rage an enlarged)=18 vs 14(i have to hit your touch ac not your flat footed AC) Hit Cremator was only 5 feet away in the first place... okay yeah but I don't think it really would have mattered cause it would have been 18 vs 16 (SoF) I just think that the extra attack would have made a huge difference because it only would have had to do 9 damage |
| T'Var12-12-04, 10:02 PM | Cremator was only 5 feet away in the first place... okay yeah but I don't think it really would have mattered cause it would have been 18 vs 16 (SoF) I just think that the extra attack would have made a huge difference because it only would have had to do 9 damage what would 9 dmg have done? Cremator had 24 hitpoints when he entered the grapple |
| Ayatoshi12-12-04, 10:13 PM | yeah my last attack dealt 15 damage during the grapple |
| T'Var12-12-04, 10:18 PM | yeah my last attack dealt 15 damage during the grapple actually looking in on that, the crit was not confirmed how did a 1d6+2 dmg weapon do 15 points? I think that might have been a typo of 5 dmg but we will have to wait for Battousai2005 to answer that one |
| Ayatoshi12-12-04, 10:38 PM | now that I see it battousai forgot to write the psychic strike. What would have happened would you would have taken 1d6+1d8+2 from unincluded attack then I would have charged sword with psychic strike and then hit again for 1d6+1d8+2 (15 was rolled) so with that attack it would have been avg 25 damage. He just didn't write the psychic strike down though it was prebuffed. |
| T'Var12-12-04, 10:45 PM | now that I see it battousai forgot to write the psychic strike. He just didn't write the psychic strike down though it was prebuffed. Ahh, thought psi strike was like sneak attack dmg guess not. nod, if the first attack made it still a 50% miss chance, even though you get to re-roll once |
| Ayatoshi12-12-04, 10:48 PM | but still that's a huge difference 20 50% chances to add 4-16 damage to Cremator. That's fight changing. If it had hit it would have changed the fight in Aureus' favor probably won it for him. Yeah and psi strike is just take a move action and add 1d8 to the mindblade damage. I love the ability |
| T'Var12-12-04, 10:57 PM | Then that brings into the question of this statment If You’re Grappling When you are grappling (regardless of who started the grapple), you can perform any of the following actions. Some of these actions take the place of an attack (rather than being a standard action or a move action). If your base attack bonus allows you multiple attacks, you can attempt one of these actions in place of each of your attacks, but at successively lower base attack bonuses. says you can preform any of the following actions blah blah blah (rather than being a standard action or a move action). that sounds like you dont get the normal standard action, and move action in a grapple you just get grapple options Not that it would matter in this fight but perhaps the next one |
| Pittbull12-13-04, 03:16 AM | Tactics due Friday, Fights due Monday Sins tactic has been sent in time. Jindl and Scaryfroman didn't send their tactic on friday, none of them told me that there is a delay, not responding to my please to send their tactics early. I'll have a 10-hour-plus working day today and I'm not sure if I'll be able to post a fight, but we will see. Jindl, you should know that there is a limit for posting tactics and being in time is very necessary for people, who have to work during the day. Piuro hasn't sent me a tactic at all. :waits: |
| Kemal12-13-04, 06:32 AM | I'll have a 10-hour-plus working day today and I'm not sure if I'll be able to post a fight, but we will see Take your time... No rush, its Ok for me, even if you post the fight on wednesday ;) Of course your Job is more important.... |
| Pittbull12-13-04, 08:09 AM | Take your time... No rush, its Ok for me, even if you post the fight on wednesday ;) Of course your Job is more important.... Thanks, but no problem, the fight is almost finished and will be posted this afternoon. Still got no tactics from Piuro. This fight might be posted on tuesday and might be modded with his default-tactics. EDIT:Checking his charactersheet, I saw this:Ready for 12/15 He might not know, that he's paired this week! Please GMs, make decission, if I shall run the fight or not. |

| Pittbull12-13-04, 09:41 AM | My tactics were PM'd at 10:03 pm EST on Friday. -Jindl We work with GMT not EST! But never the less, I will run the fight, if Puiros status is clear. |
| Jindl12-13-04, 12:01 PM | Well, I don't want Piuro to be screwed over. So if it is necessary to postpone the fight until next weekend, I can handle that (although I would ask Pitlords to make the necessary credit changes). -Jindl |
| Pitlords12-13-04, 02:33 PM | Hmmm. Unfortunately, Malsvir was edited well after the Wednesday deadline; this makes it impossible to tell whether pairing him was an error on my part (he was set to ready for next week the whole time), or on Piuro's part (he was set to ready this week, then changed it after pairings). This is important, because in the first case, the fight should be postponed, while in the second case, Taryn should get an auto-win. In any case, since Jindl is willing to allow a postponement, I'll take him up on his offer: the Taryn/Malsvir fight is postponed until next week. Credit changes: Jindl +1 If Pittbull has no objections, then he will still be running the fight next week. |

I remember checking that when I raised the question of why Taryn was originally paired vs Cliche. However, I don't want Taryn to get an auto-win, so lets just postpone to next week. Pittbull can use the same tactics for Taryn. -Jindl |

| Battousai200512-13-04, 06:20 PM | Ok, lemme sort out all the complaints here. I'll start with T'vars. 1) Looking at the SRD that I JUST DOWNLOADED, it says 1 minute per level. I don't know if you added a zero on accident or if mine is just messed up, but unless someone else can conferm me wrong, that decision stands. Moving on to Ayatoshi: 1) Yes, you knew he was close, but listen CANNOT pinpoint. If you had gotten a natural 20, then I would have given it to you. You knew his general direction and general vicinity, but thats it. If you want the rules for Listen and spot checks, look here. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=1691088&postcount=1334) As you can see, best that you can pinpoint to is a 3x3 area. 2) Ummm, yah, forgot to mention that I had him rage. My fault. Sorry for the confusion. But in that instance, he does hit. 3) The grappling rules are hazy at the best of times. I know for a fact that you can only do the actions listed. I get the impression that if you can't take both move actions and standard actions in a grapple (meaning full round actions). |

I don't know if you added a zero on accident or if mine is just messed up, but unless someone else can conferm me wrong, that decision stands. ahh just checked the SRD from wizards and it does say 1 minute, so my bad, ive been using http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/home.html has a better visual format and that was the first error ive found since its been published again, my bad dude thanks |

Yah, but the DC was not beaten by 20, so I guess in this instance, it is a moot point. |
| T'Var12-13-04, 08:07 PM | Well its that time again ladies and gents, monday has come and gone and there are fights yet to be ran...If anyone needs me to take over there fight for any reason, just let me know and forward the tactics via PM and ill run them before this time tomorrow night |
| Snommelp12-13-04, 08:23 PM | Well its that time again ladies and gents, monday has come and gone and there are fights yet to be ran...If anyone needs me to take over there fight for any reason, just let me know and forward the tactics via PM and ill run them before this time tomorrow night And this week I am willing to make the same offer. All of my finals were today, so I have some free time. |
| Battousai200512-13-04, 09:51 PM | And this week I am willing to make the same offer. All of my finals were today, so I have some free time. Lucky you. Mine are spread over the week |
| Sindorin12-13-04, 10:10 PM | I don't know how lucky that would be... I wouldn't like having multiple finals on one day... but I guess it would be a relief after they're all done. |
| Huan12-13-04, 11:35 PM | Lance vs T'Var (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5046376) Ixenthor vs Ildechai (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5046385) These are the BARE skeleton versions of the fights. I promise that a story for each will be up soon (polishing them now) and the posts edited. I have had a family emergency just now, and thus have been away all weekend. I barely got these fights done before deadline, so I apologize. As a comment on the fights, might I add that the companions in each fight helped significantly towards the wins of the victors. |
| Ashenai12-13-04, 11:38 PM | ...Gurblegork. Well, that sure tested the alternate casting system mighty well, that it did. And I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for you meddling cohorts! |
| Huan12-13-04, 11:40 PM | ...Gurblegork. Well, that sure tested the alternate casting system mighty well, that it did. And I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for you meddling cohorts! Heh, yeah ... I suppose next time we can ask Ixenthor to wait to unleash his mighty griffon and sword until after it has been tested ... Out of curiosity, what is the most a fighter has ever been reduced into the negatives? Maybe there should be a record for that... -54 looked like a world of hurt... |
| T'Var12-14-04, 12:20 AM | actually i have a few problems with T'Var vs Lance first off, If he is already visible, If he already has Mirror Image and there are only 3 images, or he has not cast mirror image yet, fire a poison arrow at Lance (meta-game thinking aim for the one in the correct position to be guiding a horse) trying to end this early. if there are more images instead fire the poison arrow at his horse, this should either drop the horse or destroy its ability to carry a rider due to the str dmg. 1)since it was an either Lance or Horse i was taking held actions not readied action and since there were 5 images the posion arrow should have been fired at the horse not at Lance and also witht the meta-gameing in my tactics if I had fired at lance i would have fired at the middle one since it was the only one sitting on the horse and not extreamly off center 2) once my dog attacks then you roll to see if it was the image or the real thing. images only have an ac of (10+sixe+dex) 14 not 17, and there ac does not increase when he casts shield. so Fluffys attack on round 3, 4, 5(possably twice because the roll isnt given for the AoO), 8, all had the chance to destroy an image. this with the fact that his horse should have taken 3D6 str dmg and therefor been out of the battle could would have prolonged the fight for several more rounds allowing T'Var to outlast the laughter and get back into the fight |
| SnarkHunter12-14-04, 01:03 AM | Thats an intresting alternate casting system all right. I'd still prefer multiple fights a day, choose which spells/PPs you use for those fights though. AS a stop gap measure though, I'll concieve its usefulness. |
| cellardweller12-14-04, 01:46 AM | also witht the meta-gameing in my tactics if I had fired at lance i would have fired at the middle one since it was the only one sitting on the horse and not extreamly off center Enemies attempting to attack you or cast spells at you must select from among indistinguishable targets. Emphasis mine. Common sense has no place in dnd. Other points are valid. If you are modifiying the fight Huan, the shield scroll required a umd check and pls don't forget Lance's mounted combat feat. |
| Ashenai12-14-04, 02:10 AM | Regarding the Anna-Evram fight: my apologies for the extreme lateness, neither Evram nor Anna are very pitlord-friendly gladiators. :( I have to go to class now; I'll keep working on it, and it should be done soon. Here's where you guys are right now: Round 4 Anna is slightly annoyed by Evram's invisibility, so she wields her Wand of Faerie Fire, gracefully pokes her head and her wand arm out of the pillar, and Faerie Fires Evram and the construct. The Construct is Faerie Fired, Evram isn't (no chance of breaking through the Power Resistance). She then pops back inside the pillar, thinking of her next plan. Evram begins manifesting a double-Overchanneled Astral Construct. The Gorgon chews its cud. ** Anna 44/44 (-3,2,12) ** Evram 69/62 (-7,5,12) 31 PPs, Invisible[31], Force Screen(+5)[111], Inertial Armor(+10)[inf], Vigor[inf], Power Resistance(25)[132] ** Gorgon 93/93 (-3,5,3) ** Construct 101/101 (-7,5,12) Concussion, Extra Attack, Improved Fly, Pounce, Faerie Fire[14] |
| SnarkHunter12-14-04, 02:44 AM | Take your time man, I should probably be studying or somesuch myself. Re the fight: Disconcerting that. Not many PP's left either, but then, I expected that. |
| Pittbull12-14-04, 02:48 AM | If Pittbull has no objections, then he will still be running the fight next week. Of course I have no objections. Piuro told me that he'll be able to send me his tactics this night, if it happens, I'll be able to post the fight before next pairings. :) @Scaryfoman: Where are you? There is still a fight to be modded. ;) Edit: Mission complete: the fight has been posted. |

The RTF version of the SRD doesn't have the errata, the HTML version does have it. The errata changed the Augmentation to 10 minutes per level. The only error I have found on Sovelior's SRD is it has 1/2 BAB for Wilder when it should be 3/4. KerlanRayne |

Also, you fired at him because it was on a horse as well, as you point out. I ruled that Mirror Image, since it is supposed to duplicate the caster exactly, would either duplicate images of him atop horses (like how I did), OR images of him riding thin air, but mimicking him exactly. To me, the latter is a bit ridiculous and makes the spell a moot point, so I ruled the former instead. Thus, you did fire at the first spotting of Lance atop his horse.... it just wasn't real. I even asked the people in the Magic and Spells forum about this usage of Mirror Image, and they concurred. 2) once my dog attacks then you roll to see if it was the image or the real thing. images only have an ac of (10+sixe+dex) 14 not 17, and there ac does not increase when he casts shield. so Fluffys attack on round 3, 4, 5(possably twice because the roll isnt given for the AoO), 8, all had the chance to destroy an image. You said in your tactics for Fluffy to attack Lance. I took this as meaning the real Lance, and none of the images. Since Fluffy has scent, he could pinpoint and attack the real Lance with no problem, and continued to do so, although missing due to Lance's high AC. Fluffy could have been instructed to shift focus and eliminate all images, but that was not suggested. this with the fact that his horse should have taken 3D6 str dmg and therefor been out of the battle could would have prolonged the fight for several more rounds allowing T'Var to outlast the laughter and get back into the fight I agree, this is true. Conversely, had Lance known that shooting his bow while you were prone was worse for him instead of better (and thus would have switched to sword quicker), that would have ended the fight at a different time as well... Oh, and please note that for the future, I have noted Celeste's and Fluffy's Tricks in their stats. |

MI makes the target and ONLY the target of the spell duplicate. Yes the images should have been riding off kilter or in mid air because Magic is odd you cant give him the advantage just because his spell choise is easily meta-gamed thought thru that is the point of tactics My arrow with meta-game tactics should have hit Lance because his images were riding thin air |

I could rerun the fight real fast today on this decision... So, if I rerun the fight, it would be where T'Var fires a poison arrow at the horse (succeed or not). However, I seriously doubt the horse would drop it's ability to carry Lance as a Rider (but, it is possible if the 3d6 poison from a failed save ended up matching or beating the horse's Str 16). The fight would have progressed the exact same after then... except for one thing. What WOULD have made a difference is the Str dmg would have made the Horse miss more attacks, thus T'Var would have been alive in time to fight back from prone. So, the fight would have been prolonged. |
| Ashenai12-14-04, 09:02 AM | Any other input on this? I could rerun the fight today real fast with this decision... You ran it correctly. There is, indeed, no way to distinguish between the Images, and there's no mundane way around this (except shutting your eyes, as described in the spell description). While it is not clearly stated what this means if the original is sitting atop a horse, I'd rule that while no new horse images are created (if an opponent wishes to attack the horse instead of you, he won't accidentally hit an image), the Mirror Images all seem to be sitting on the horse. Perhaps they seem to be "leaning" in different directions. Remember when Agent Smith was dodging bullets in the original Matrix? Like that. :D |

| scaryfroman12-14-04, 02:28 PM | Yeah, It's done, but I couldnt post it last night for some reason. I am away from my computer now, and will post it tonight. I came upon some interesting problems. Mainly involving rules for climbing in the CoCo, and the application of the 10 round rule. Hagrid was psionically perched on a pillar, safe from hagrid because he had Deflect arrows. Derthark was relativly safe, as Hagrid had to roll a 20 to hit him. I ruled in favor of the 10 second rule, and used an unruly guest to knock hagrid off with a beer bottle. The melee battle was short after that. I had two other options. Derthark could have thrown the tanglefoot bag, then climbed up and hit with the axe Hagrid could have kept shooting, hoping for 20s. Anyway, I'll post it tonight. |
| Pittbull12-14-04, 02:49 PM | Shouting each round, hoping to get a nat 20 doesn't interfere with the ten rounds-rule. 50 bolts give quite a chance to get some 20!'s. Sorry for that boring tactic! Rule as you like, I'll never ask for a rerun. Edit: Not only arrows or bolts can be deflected with the feat, all his other thrown attacks can be deflected too, since he is not able to throw rocks. :) |

| T'Var12-14-04, 03:24 PM | Andrue Meleghost (Dragoon101) vs The Prince of Persia (Battousai2005): Ayatoshi Catherine Talyana (Cellardweller) vs Moksha Jehannum (Ashenai): LLMadCow still over due...(Dragoon, Battousai), (Cellardweller, Ashenai) i need to know if you want your fights ran I can do it tonight but only if i reseive tactics from both opponents otherwise i guess these fights will lay over till next week |
| Sindorin12-14-04, 03:36 PM | hmm... yes, lots of late fights. It is likely due to this week being finals week for all the college kids here, myself included. I propose a lessened late penalty for late fights this week. Finals week is tough for everyone. |

| scaryfroman12-14-04, 06:20 PM | It's up. I got hit with the firewall thing, and just realized it. It was kind of confusing running this fight, so I will rerun it if someone could think of a better way to do it. |
| Pittbull12-14-04, 06:35 PM | It's up. I got hit with the firewall thing, and just realized it. It was kind of confusing running this fight, so I will rerun it if someone could think of a better way to do it. As I mentioned above, ruling this way, wasn't very nice! There has been no circumstance to use the ten-rounds-rule and as you see, there has been a reason why chose this tactic. But your the pitlord and it's your decission. :( Edit: Also another mistake: Round 15: Derthark charges (6+10=16 vs. AC 14; Damage = 4+6=10) Hagrid slumps to the ground in a bloody mess. After drinking the potion, Hagrids AC is 18. Derthaks charge gives him a +2 on his attack. Edit2: Round 14: Derthark smiles, 5ft steps to hagrid and attacks. (14+24 vs. AC 14 = Hit Damage= 10+6=16) Hagrid Hits with Quarterstaff (18+5=23 vs. AC23= HIT!!, Damage = 6+4= 10), then moves 30ft away Hagrid attacked with the Quaterstaff and he runs away? Shouldn't he try to grapple as mentioned in the tactics, if there is a melee? Derthaks AC is 21 after the charge, also. |
| T'Var12-14-04, 06:43 PM | It's up. I got hit with the firewall thing, and just realized it. It was kind of confusing running this fight, so I will rerun it if someone could think of a better way to do it. Umm I saw no reason to invoke the 10 round rule Hagrid had supperior tactics and should not be faulted for that. its the same as being on a horse and being able fire an arrow and stay out of any range of your enemy the 10 round rule is if one char is avoiding combat totally for 10 rounds Hagrid isnt he is activly attacking just needs a lucky shot to hit |
| scaryfroman12-14-04, 06:54 PM | ok. I will rerun, rolling 15 more shots. After that, we'll see. |
| Einzelgaenger12-14-04, 07:01 PM | ok. I will rerun, rolling 15 more shots. After that, we'll see. also, what about me turning invisible/big, as part of my tactics? i can stay invisible for 40 turns (4 minutes), so i think turning invisible to wait him out would have been appropriate, and turning invisible was part of my tactics sent and if you really need me doing something, i can always walk around the pillar and try to chop it down. |
| Pittbull12-15-04, 02:23 AM | also, what about me turning invisible/big, as part of my tactics? i can stay invisible for 40 turns (4 minutes), so i think turning invisible to wait him out would have been appropriate, and turning invisible was part of my tactics sent and if you really need me doing something, i can always walk around the pillar and try to chop it down. Choping the pillar is useless, because Hargid is able to walk to the ceiling, even it isn't in your tactics and it's an adjustment to mine. But your right regarding your tactic, Derthak should be enlarged and invisible, but you can't wait him out, this is a violation of the ten-trounds-rule and Derthak has no idea how long the wall-walker-power-duration is. It might be longer than his own spell-like-abillities, he doesn't know. ;) |
| Ashenai12-15-04, 02:58 AM | Anna vs. Evram is up. Much lateness. This was a very difficult battle to run, and I might have made made some mistakes. If neither of you is in a rush, I'll be happy to do revisions as needed. Not like I'll be running any other fights for the next two weeks. :raincloud |
| Pitlords12-15-04, 03:32 AM | Okay, couple of issues. Late fight penalties: Ayatoshi, LLMadCow, Ashenai, and Scaryfroman get late penalties and -1 credit. Since Piuro managed to get his tactics in, and Pittbull did the impossible, the Taryn-Malsvir fight is actually done this week. Credit changes: Jindl -1. Two fights are still not up: Andrue Meleghost (Dragoon101) vs The Prince of Persia (Battousai2005): Ayatoshi Catherine Talyana (Cellardweller) vs Moksha Jehannum (Ashenai): LLMadCow If these fights aren't up by the time pairings are due, they'll be assigned to the same pitlords again. Piuro: Malsvir Haurach is prepared for level 4; he is actually level 5, because he was eligible for a bump. |

Not like I'll be running any other fights for the next two weeks. :raincloud Aye well better late then never 2 things: Telekinesis can only be used every 1d4 rounds, didn't see a role so its possible that you missed it. Why didn't construct 1 ever attack? |
| Ashenai12-15-04, 04:13 AM | Aye well better late then never 2 things: Telekinesis can only be used every 1d4 rounds, didn't see a role so its possible that you missed it. I did miss that. Curses. Just rolled it (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=Anna-Evram), and got a 4... so yeah, that last round is FUBAR. I'll rerun. Why didn't construct 1 ever attack? Attack whom? Anna was never out of her pillar, and I thought you only wanted the second Construct to kill the gorgon (that's what your tactics said, anyway). Incidentally, I somehow managed to make the Gorgon fly. Hmmm. Luckily, you made the save, so the Gorgon mistake(s) won't really change anything. The Telekinesis is a bad one, yes, I'll have to rerun that. |
| SnarkHunter12-15-04, 04:27 AM | Well the concussions are free action force effects. I could also see attacking the weapons as being a handy thing. |

| Ashenai12-15-04, 09:58 AM | umm shouldnt they be reassigned to different pitlords, i mean they have the 2week penalty they shouldnt get to a second go around until those 2 weeks are served No, this is how it has always worked; 2 week penalty or not, you're supposed to finish your own fights. This is so any work already done on the fights doesn't go to waste. If Ayatoshi or LLMadCow don't show up and comment by Friday, the fights will be re-assigned to anyone else who wants them. |
| Ayatoshi12-15-04, 03:36 PM | I can only be on fir a minute but I apologize about the lack of fight posting because I have some family issues going on and probably won't be on much at all in the next 4 or five days so someone can take my fight if possible please. :( :( |
| scaryfroman12-15-04, 06:32 PM | Hagrid v. Derthark is done. Very close, exciting fight. Hagrid had one hit point when he won. I really hope everything turned out right. |
| Einzelgaenger12-15-04, 07:33 PM | Hagrid v. Derthark is done. Very close, exciting fight. Hagrid had one hit point when he won. I really hope everything turned out right. couple things...one, how did he know my exact square for in the first place, and 2, did you include the 50% miss chance for any hit against the square. even if he somehow pinpointed me and was shooting at that square, any hit against that square counts as total concealment and has a 50% chance of missing. also, i think moving around a bit would be the only logical thing to do if i'm getting shot at! w/o getting a listen check at 20 over a move silently check, or true seeing or whatnot, he'd have to guess the square, and when large, i can attack that square from 8 different spots... |
| scaryfroman12-15-04, 08:22 PM | oops... I had run the fight, and took a quick run over the tactics again, and realized that I had forgotten invisiblility, so I added it in. Again, I will fix it. what a mess, huh? sorry i'm being so nitpicky, but i really want this to go right. also, do note that i can hit him when he's 15 or 20 feet up the pillar, and he may fall or something and end up prone if he gets hit from up there, i dunno that much about psionics afterall :P |
| Pittbull12-16-04, 03:15 AM | Yeah Einzel is right, there has been no invisibility. The use of deflect arrows has been wrong, there is no roll, automatic-success. Derthak does not know that wall-walker wears off in the fight, he has no skill to determing the duration of this power, neither he is a psionic-duergar. So there might be a reasonable chance that he at shot Hagrid. Having a thread on the 22 hit, did you roll 4d6 or 2d6 for damage? |

EDIT: oh, and if i'm not actually waiting right by the pillar for him to walk down, there's even more guessing to do, like an insane amount. |

Since Scaryfroman doesn't show up, dispite he is quite active in our community. Let me give you one offer: I don't want to win this fight, this way. Since Derthak is your only character and I'll present my newest build soon (I just need some more credits), lets declare Derthak has won and you can proceed, if the GMs are ok with that, we can do this this way. Another option would be to make a rerun with the same tactics, but a different pitlord. |
| scaryfroman12-21-04, 12:21 PM | Shoot. I totally forgot about this. I need some advice on what to do, though. While Hagrid is wall-walking, all that Derthark can do is go invisible and wait for him. Hagrid can just barely hit him when he is visible, and not at all when he is invisible. As for deflect arrows, if I am not wrong, it is essentially an auto-miss, and that is how I played it. Hagrid can keep waiting up there, Derthark can keep being invisible, and nothing happens for 30 rounds. I'm pretty sure that would qualify for the 10-round rule. Although, Derthark is not just running away from combat. In fact, he is waiting only a few squares from an enemy that he cannot hurt until something wears off. At the very least, Derthark knows that there is something magic (or psionic) going on here, and that half-giants can't normally walk on walls. If they wait, then Derthark will have a few more hit points, and will have a much better chance of taking Hagrid down when he falls. I will change it today. If there are any more ideas, I would be open to them. |
