| T'Var12-22-04, 07:12 PM | Battousais2005 tactics sent via email for Cremator vs Tara |
| Battousai200512-22-04, 10:02 PM | @T'Var: Got 'em. I think I have Tara's as well. Fight will hopefully be up Christmas day. Think of it as a gift! I'll just have to write a good story to make it worth your while... |
| Snommelp12-22-04, 10:10 PM | @Battousai: the tactics you have are not Tara's tactics for this week. Those are from last week when Cliche soundly trounced her. Her tactics for Cremator are going to be much more involved. She's going to be trying her hardest to beat Cremator. After all, he burned her beer! |
| Sindorin12-22-04, 11:01 PM | -2: official fight of the week opener heh heh, burn baby burn... {evil laugh} |
| Snommelp12-22-04, 11:40 PM | Tara's tactics against Cremator have been sent, Battousai. I hope you can come up with a good story for this fight. I don't know about Cremator, but Tara's got a lot of anger to let out for this one. |

| Einzelgaenger12-23-04, 01:42 AM | I have sent my tactics for Alexis. recieved. |

| Caterane12-23-04, 05:14 AM | Thanks Huan. @T'Var: I know you have 2 fights already but since you're set to <max> would you take over the new pairing: Ixenthor vs Herrix? |
| Pittbull12-23-04, 05:26 AM | Tactics recieved for both Khalil and Derthark, thank you. Rerun of Ixenthor vs Ex Nihilo (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5091606) fight done. @Pittbull Tactics for Luken sent via PM. Got it! :) |
| Einzelgaenger12-23-04, 07:03 AM | @Einzelgänger: Tactic has been sent via PM. also recieved, and fight is up. please accept my most heartfelt apologies for playing with your characters like the puppets they are. sock puppets! mwahaha! but seriously, it didn't affect the outcome of the fight, so i think it's open game. like usual, i would love comments etc, as i am still new to GMing. |

One thing i saw this fight, round 6 the horse grapples Hagrid, you have to take into account that it has animal intel, and there are no tricks listed for Mr Ed, but you can assume it has the attack trick. But to actually mean to grapple would take a bit more intel than an animal has, and this would seriously effect the way the fight ends up @Cat Im off work till monday so as long as i get some tactics in im fine with the fights. but everyone the sooner the better with tactics!! |

| Ashenai12-23-04, 08:23 AM | Did someone ask for a l33t-to-English translator? (http://www.jayssite.com/stuff/l33t/l33t_translator.html) It's not perfect (Battousai is a little too l33t for it), but it's a good starting point. :) |

But to actually mean to grapple would take a bit more intel than an animal has, and this would seriously effect the way the fight ends up T'Var is right, I didn't see that, when I was writing my tactic. Hey, nice fight and very quick post. The only concern I have, is, that you didn't follow her tactic at all. All in all it's better to adjust tactics as a pitlord, if the gladiators tactic doesn't work. But making my secondary tactic inverse as her tactic, was quite strange. Don't understand me wrong, I've no problem at all, everthing is OK. Hagrid gets a :bump: anyway. So merry christmas! |

| T'Var12-23-04, 12:46 PM | Ragnarr (scaryfroman) vs Taryn Thunderstorm (Jindl): T'Var Sîn (Kemal) vs Moksha Jehannum (Ashenai): T'Var Archangel Ixenthor (Caterane) vs Herrix Ignatius (LLMadCow): T'Var just a reminder fights will be ran on saturday morning. tactics or not |
| Jindl12-23-04, 01:18 PM | Round 11 [Ixenthor drops down to 35 ft altitude and fires a Wild Surged (safe) sonic ray at Ex Nihilo’s crossbow, Attack 26 vs AC 13, (hit: 6 dmg, crossbow destroyed)] [Ex Nihilo manifests 2 pp Vigor (+10 HP) and sidesteps to cover.] You CANNOT sunder with a ranged attack. No offense to you, Huan, I know you've only recently joined us here, but we have been over this rule like a million times, and its really frustrating to have to go over it yet again. @Cat - Remember when someone used a melf's acid arrow to destroy a spell component pouch. We decided then that according to the rules you cannot sunder items with ranged attacks. Why would destroying your opponent's crossbow with an energy ray be any different? I think you should have known this, since you've been around and participated in all of the previous discussions on this rule. You shouldn't have put that into your tactics. Unless the spell/power specifically targets 1 or more objects (like the Shatter spell), you can't use it to sunder attended objects. -Jindl |
| Caterane12-23-04, 01:26 PM | It wasn't a sunder. I used a ranged touch attack to hit his crossbow, and the effect of the ray hitting it destroyed it. Why shouldn't that be possible? Also, the power explicitly says what happens to items (sonic version) so this is an indicator too. If I have a baseball, and want to hit a gargantuan towershield... why shouldn't I be able to do this? |
| Snommelp12-23-04, 02:13 PM | Cloud Strife (MysticMonk2005) vs Astrokhen (Paranoia): Snommelp I have no tactics. Cloud has very basic general tactics; Astrokhen has none. If no tactics are sent, I will be very tempted to have Astrokhen fight with a salmon while being ridden by a kobold! (NOTE: Tempted does not mean I am seriously considering it. Doesn't mean I'm not, either...) |
| T'Var12-23-04, 02:47 PM | It wasn't a sunder. I used a ranged touch attack to hit his crossbow, and the effect of the ray hitting it destroyed it. Why shouldn't that be possible? Also, the power explicitly says what happens to items (sonic version) so this is an indicator too. Oh come now Cat that is a sad defence...thats like saying, Its wasn't a sunder. I used a melee attack to hit his shield, and the effect of the sword hitting it destroyed it. You cannot sunder with ranged weapons spells ect ect ect unless you have the feat Ranged Sunder which is not in a Core bookl. therefor it cannot be done If I have a baseball, and want to hit a gargantuan towershield... why shouldn't I be able to do this? because the rules say you cannot damage an attended object with a ranged form of attack I compleatly agree with Jindl on this one |
| Pittbull12-23-04, 03:12 PM | I don't like Cat explanation either, but the spell says: Sonic: A ray of this energy type deals -1 point of damage per die and ignores an object’s hardness. Isn't it a kind of psionic shatter-spell-version? |
| T'Var12-23-04, 03:18 PM | Isn't it a kind of psionic shatter-spell-version? no Shatter has this for its target Area or Target: 5-ft.-radius spread; or one solid object or one crystalline creature Energy ray has no target or area of effect listin in its heading. in the text it says hits a target. which would be fine if Cat wanted to destroy a door or a chair noone was sitting in. but once an object becomes attended, held, worn, ect it cannot be effected except by very deffinent effects...otherwize every fireball would not only hurt you but would destroy all your cloths, arrows, bow, backpack ect ect ect |
| Caterane12-23-04, 03:28 PM | I've just talked to Ashenai and he agrees with you guys so it is not possible to hit the crossbow with a ranged touch attack. Won't have any affect on the outcome and Ashenai doesn't want a rerun, neither do I. Still, I'd like to apply to common sense here. Let's say I have a baseball in my hand with which I want to hit the colossal+ towershield wielded by someone. Or a banket table wielded by someone big. Why shouldn't I be able to hit this target? It is way more difficult to miss! |
| Battousai200512-23-04, 03:34 PM | oh dear god........ ...yah. I thought I had too much time on my hands. |
| T'Var12-23-04, 03:38 PM | I've just talked to Ashenai and he agrees with you guys so it is not possible to hit the crossbow with a ranged touch attack. It is way more difficult to miss! because the rules say you cannot damage, or effect any attended object with a ranged ability. except in the rare acception such as a shatter spell. hit it all you want but you cannot damage, or effect it in any way. why can a Red Dragon only breath fire once every 1d4 rounds, why cant i use an overrun as part of a charge attack(errata)? heck why cant you use the Awaken spell on a wolf and keep him as an ally. because the rules say so |
| Battousai200512-23-04, 03:51 PM | I can't find the rule for not allowing a ranged sunder, except for the feat Ranged Sunder. I know for a fact that you can't sunder with a bow or crossbow for the reason that you cannot sunder with a piercing weapon. I originally had Kage with rapiers until I saw that bit. Makes adamantine arrows seem kinda pointless... Spells like this are tricky. I seem to remember having to go over this with a scorching ray spell. My group and I decided that you can target only unattended objects that have hardness with rays. You know, doors, rocks, gems, my ex-girlfriends heart... I think that is what the officials would say. |
| Beldin12-23-04, 04:00 PM | Still, I'd like to apply to common sense here. Everyone knows that one should NEVER apply common sense to the rules. |
| Sindorin12-23-04, 06:18 PM | Tactics for Cliche and Illyx have both been sent to Pittbull. I'll work on tactics for Tair whenever I am not hungry as all get out. |
| Einzelgaenger12-23-04, 06:55 PM | T'Var is right, I didn't see that, when I was writing my tactic. Hey, nice fight and very quick post. So merry christmas! yes, i have to admit i was influenced by your secondary tactic, but that was the first thing to come to mind, and i really needed to change her tactics, and i wasn't quite comfortable with grappling riding people if someone gives me the rules for grappling a riding person, i'd use them next time i have to do that. and if it would make anyone happier, and can have Mr Ed just charge instead of grapplacharge @ T'Var: Mr Ed has a grapple modifier, so I assumed he could use it. |
| T'Var12-23-04, 07:06 PM | yes, i have to admit i was influenced by your secondary tactic, but that was the first thing to come to mind, and i really needed to change her tactics, and i wasn't quite comfortable with grappling riding people if someone gives me the rules for grappling a riding person, i'd use them next time i have to do that. and if it would make anyone happier, and can have Mr Ed just charge instead of grapplacharge @ T'Var: Mr Ed has a grapple modifier, so I assumed he could use it. all creatures have a grapple mod in 3.5 you just have to remember with an animal intel...i mean even in the movies when was the last time you saw a horse without a rider try to grapple some one ;) |
| Einzelgaenger12-23-04, 07:13 PM | all creatures have a grapple mod in 3.5 you just have to remember with an animal intel...i mean even in the movies when was the last time you saw a horse without a rider try to grapple some one ;) medieval combat. horses were often trained to hold and pin and gore enemy knights or peasants or whatnot. that's not just a normal attack, that's a grapple/pin |
| T'Var12-23-04, 08:15 PM | medieval combat. horses were often trained to hold and pin and gore enemy knights or peasants or whatnot. that's not just a normal attack, that's a grapple/pin but since there is no "grapple" trick that an animal can learn you have to stick with the basics, attack, defend, guard, ect ect ect and an animal doing so on its own is highly unlikely, when i knows it does more dmg with 3 attacks a round vs 1 |
| Einzelgaenger12-23-04, 10:04 PM | but since there is no "grapple" trick that an animal can learn you have to stick with the basics, attack, defend, guard, ect ect ect and an animal doing so on its own is highly unlikely, when i knows it does more dmg with 3 attacks a round vs 1 well, since you feel so strongly about it, fight has been changed, outcome is the same, but alexis uses one less arrow, and i got rid of the elongation, but it remains in my heart :D |
| Sindorin12-23-04, 10:36 PM | all tactics have been sent. |
| Huan12-23-04, 11:00 PM | You CANNOT sunder with a ranged attack. No offense to you, Huan, I know you've only recently joined us here, but we have been over this rule like a million times, and its really frustrating to have to go over it yet again. Ah, no offense taken. It was done in ignorance on my part. To be honest, I originally thought the ray could be the one case and exception of ranged sunder in Core, as well. But, now I know better; thanks and sorry for the trouble. :embarrass In respect to animals grappling, I don't feel intelligence is key. I don't think a mimumum intelligence is required to start a grapple for any monster (for some monsters, it comes naturally, like lions), otherwise, the rules would have said so, as we all know. However, even though all monsters have a grapple score, I don't believe it means all animals will feel inclined to grapple, but rather they all can oppose one. :twocents: |
| Battousai200512-24-04, 02:28 AM | I agree with Huan on the grappling. Sure, a horse may not ever feel inclined to put a foot on top of the poor fighter and hold him to the ground, but certainly if a tiger pounced on him and tried to wrestle him to the ground, I'm pretty sure the horse would not calmly sit there and let the tiger grapple him. Besides, horses can always sit on people. Thats a kind of grappling, right? |
| Einzelgaenger12-24-04, 03:55 AM | Thats a kind of grappling, right? Exactly, a horse's grapple may not look quite like a human grapple, given their different shape and limb structure, but there's really no other way to describe the mauling a horse does to an enemy by stomping on 'em and keeping them there. |

| Snommelp12-24-04, 05:47 PM | I have Cloud's tactics, still need Astrokhen's. Or not. The kobold's sharpening the salmon for you now. |

| T'Var12-24-04, 07:57 PM | Ragnarr vs Taryn is up tactics never received from Moksha Jehannum (Ashenai) Herrix Ignatius (LLMadCow) they will be ran on default |
| scaryfroman12-25-04, 12:34 AM | Hmm. interesting fight. Rag seemed to do pretty well there at first, but after that things went downhill. One question, though: Did Rag leave the center structure in the last round? Doesnt matter to me much, but it would be good to know so I can update my tactics. |
| LLMadCow12-25-04, 12:45 AM | Herrix Ignatius (LLMadCow) they will be ran on default Tactics for Herrix have been sent. |

One question, though: Did Rag leave the center structure in the last round? Doesnt matter to me much, but it would be good to know so I can update my tactics. last round yes he did. was low on hp and you didnt mention anything about healing. it was really his only chance to get up close and personal and hope you had a chance to enlarge and keep taryn in your threat range. I really think his downfall this battle was letting taryn buff for almost 6 straight rounds. but you had very few arrows and your tactics said to target the horse. else i would have been lobbing arrows into the mist every round just to put some type of pressure on her |
| T'Var12-25-04, 02:49 AM | Archangel vs Herrix is up |
| Ashenai12-25-04, 09:17 AM | Uh, please don't run Moksha on default tactics, if you haven't already. I double-checked, and I did send Moksha's tactics to your email. <nospam@nospam.com>, right? Tactics sent again, via PM this time. |

| Ashenai12-25-04, 09:52 AM | From Ixenthor's tactics: If I have lost initiative, use luck domain to reroll it. This will not work. From the SRD. LUCK DOMAIN Granted Power: You gain the power of good fortune, which is usable once per day. This extraordinary ability allows you to reroll one roll that you have just made before the DM declares whether the roll results in success or failure. You must take the result of the reroll, even if it’s worse than the original roll. While initiative rolls don't technically result in "success" or "failure", it's clear that you have to decide whether to reroll well before you realize what your opponent rolled. You can say something like "if Ixenthor rolled a 6 or less on the d20 for init, reroll it", but that's all. |
| Caterane12-25-04, 10:31 AM | Tair Malek (Caterane) vs Rhaegar (Caterane): Caterane is finished  |
| T'Var12-25-04, 11:19 AM | Moksha vs Sin is up |
| Snommelp12-25-04, 01:21 PM | I still have no tactics for Astrokhen, and no default tactics to work with. Any advice on what to do? Right now I'm thinking Astrokhen will only defend herself (himself?). |
| Kemal12-25-04, 02:41 PM | I still have no tactics for Astrokhen, and no default tactics to work with. Any advice on what to do? Right now I'm thinking Astrokhen will only defend herself (himself?). You can say something like "if Ixenthor rolled a 6 or less on the d20 for init, reroll it", but that's all. @T'Var - Please re-run the Herrix vs Ixenthor fight! Since Ixenthor's use of Luck for the Initiative was used improperly, I do openly request a re-run, since Herrix won the Initiative. However, I have no problem with Caterane declaring some other use for Luck for further in the fight, as long as it falls within the proper guidelines set by the SRD. I also sent an e-mail to T'Var requesting a re-run, but as of now have yet to hear from him. |
| Snommelp12-25-04, 04:02 PM | Ok, he is sending the tactics to me now, and I will send them to you You should have them in about 5 minutes... got 'em. Strange that it didn't work when he sent them, but it worked when you did... meh, let's blame it on the spirit of Ebenezer Scrooge. Merry Christmas, I'll have the fight up by the end of the day (Arizona time). |
| Caterane12-25-04, 04:38 PM | @T'Var - Please re-run the Herrix vs Ixenthor fight! I also sent an e-mail to T'Var requesting a re-run, but as of now have yet to hear from him. You request that this important part in my tactics is non-existant which is unfair. I should have been asked before the fight to which number I will set the reroll, and I would have chosen a higher number than 11 because Herrix has +8 ini. No one has payed any attention to this, not T'Var, not I, and you neither. And Johan Talyana used the luck domain that way for all his 15 levels and no one complained. Now you say "my fault if I use improper tactics". I allowed you to edit your sheet almost 2 days after the deadline. Even then, you requested in your tactics 200 arrows and a scroll of flame arrow. And now you say I cannot use my luck domain for initiative. No compromise like "Let's roll ini again and ask Cat at which ini roll he wants to use his luck domain"? Got it. And let's do not forget that it is absolutely correct to use the luck power with initiative. IMO this is very very petty. Well, I am not thrilled with a rerun, especially since it took me half the day to update Ixenthor but if T'Var decides to do one, I will be petty too and request he will stick to the very word of our tactics. |

Do not worry about re-running the fight. Both characters were edited AFTER the deadline, and the fight can be run next week. I will take the rest of the week to take my time and not be rushed about preparing for a fight! As it stands, I had little time this week, but tried to get things going so that Caterane could have the fight. It is not my fault that ANYONE ever misues the rules, but my characters have lost fights due to misunderstandings of the rules. It happens. I don't want Cat to be upset that I said my last update did not take effect, and I don't want to be mad for Cat's misuse of the Luck Domain. So, in conclusion, please consider this fight to be null and void, scheduled for next week. I will continue to edit my character as I see fit and set it back to what it was when I last lost a fight. I will spend my gold accordingly and let Cat set tactics in his free time. It really is the best solution. |
| Snommelp12-25-04, 05:26 PM | I was getting ready to run Cloud vs. Astrohken when I noticed a major problem on Astrohken's character sheet. I have brought it up in the character violations thread, but the long and short of it is I can't run the fight unless the problem is fixed. |
| T'Var12-25-04, 05:51 PM | Looking back over all the current posts concerning the fight, I feel that delaying the fight until next week is the best for all involved. this way noone needs to feel rushed or that there tactics are being forsaken Cat im sorry for you spending such time leveling your char but it is easily repaired. copy and save your updated version on your comp, then go back to the fight and copy paste your old sheet. that way it does not take time de-level the Archangel and re-level him should he win. as for the init vs luck domain. just because it has been over looked in fights past, does not make it correct and legal. I will point to the recent discovery of the Necromancer who had taken divination as an prohibited school. noone noticed it for several fights. but once it was noticed it had to be changed. If someone else used Luck to defeat init before someone should have raised the consern then. as it was not and I personaly misread the luck domains power it cannot stand. |
| Ashenai12-25-04, 08:30 PM | Regarding Herrix vs. Ixenthor: First of all, I'd like to make it clear that this is a case of pitlord privilege; it is T'Var's decision to make. He can rerun the fight or not, as he chooses. I've found T'Var to be a very dependable pitlord, and I know he'll be fair and impartial in making the decision. With that said, my personal opinion is that delaying the fight until next week is not a great idea. The Luck domain screw-up was no one's fault; in similar cases in the past, we allowed the result to stand. An on-time rerun might be justified, but delaying the fight for a week--against the wishes of one of the participants--seems like too great a price to pay for correcting this one error. The example of the Necromancer who had to switch one of his domains is a different matter, as he was not in a fight when this was discovered. His last fight was not retroactively rerun, either. I would allow the result to stand, but this will remain my personal opinion. T'Var, please consider the matter carefully, and decide as you see fit. :) |
| Ashenai12-25-04, 08:56 PM | mOkShA hAtEsSs SiN!!! hAtEsEsSsS... *khm* Anyway, well fought, and well run. I'm quite happy with this fight. Exciting stuff. Sin had superior equipment and, well, superior luck. Just one quibble: Sin's Powerstone of Power Resistance is ML 9. It grants him PR 21 (not 18), but he needs to roll a 4 or better on a d20 to successfully manifest it. Could you please roll that, T'Var? |
| Caterane12-25-04, 10:10 PM | T'Var, why don't you just let me choose an initiative number (13) at which I want to use my luck domain, and reroll initiative again? This is the same like I would have done had I known about the proper use of the luck domain. Denying me the use of the luck domain during initiative is cutting an important part of my tactic out. If I win initiative, no need to change the fight. If I lose, well, then it is still to LLMadCow's advantage because I lost an initiative I initially won. Seems like a good offer from my side. Since Ixenthor is my only active character I really do not want to sit out a week because of a delay, especially - and I can't emphasize this enough - because of a minor mistake which no one thought about. And this mistake was not an improper use of the luck domain - the luck domain CAN be used with initiative - no, the mistake was just that I did not specify at which initiative result I would like to use it, a really petty thing that is now being made into an elephant. T'Var, if you still rerun the fight, please do so this week, if possible. I really don't wanna sit out. In any case, use the tactics and sheets that have been posted on the fights thread. LLMadCow now knows my tactic, and I am not going to invent a new one; took me long enough to come up the current one. |
| Snommelp12-25-04, 11:34 PM | Cursed Internet Explorer! I was just about to post my fight when it had a "fatal error." I didn't save the fight, but I remember how it went. It will be up soon, sans rolls and damage. |
| Snommelp12-25-04, 11:50 PM | Cloud vs. Astrohken (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5114334) is up. Sorry about the quality. I'm blaming my computer and the spirit of Ebenezer Scrooge. BTW, Paranoia, you may want to check Astrohken's sheet again. I noticed his HP was too low, and I may have missed other mistakes. |
| Battousai200512-26-04, 12:55 AM | Gah! Sorry. I know I said I'd have the fight up today, but my computer crashed this morning after my sister installed zoo tychoon 2. I didn't even get to play Half Life 2. :weep: :( :weep: Anyway, apologies again. As I should have some free time tommorow, I hope I can get the fight up then. Apologies again. |
| LLMadCow12-26-04, 01:10 AM | And this mistake was not an improper use of the luck domain - the luck domain CAN be used with initiative - no, the mistake was just that I did not specify at which initiative result I would like to use it, a really petty thing that is now being made into an elephant. The improper use of the domain was by not specifying a number, but a situation that was dependant on knowing the number. There have been weeks I did not want to sit out, but - guess what? I sat out. Charaters set as ready for the week sitting out. Sitting out when there were viable opponents. As some people, who shall remain unnamed, might say - it happens. There is always next week. LLMadCow now knows my tactic, and I am not going to invent a new one; took me long enough to come up the current one. For starters, I do not know all of your tactics. I am aware of the tactic "Activate my Griffon and have him attack Herrix," but that is all. In regard to that - OMFG! Surprise, surprise! You intend to use a powerful magical item against an opponent! I never would have expected that. Despite not expecting that, I did manage to comment on it in my tactics. I did not read all of your tactics. Say what you may, but I would more likely have to re-write all of my tactics, but yours are safe, I assure you. Is it really so bad to allow me to actually have some time to properly plan for a battle? All I have asked for, at this point, is to allow proper and timely planning. Oh well, if you are really that upset, Herrix will take the loss. Okay. Herrix loses. At this point, I don't care. Ixenthor can have his unholy, ill-gotten win. I concede. BTW ... HERRIX IS CHAOTIC GOOD! He isn't some evil punk, and HE doesn't feel righteous for beating up good people. |
| T'Var12-26-04, 10:43 AM | well MadCow its a good thing that Im the dm for this match, cause i dont accept your withdraw ;) Ok I have thought long and hard about this and think this will settle the quarrel LLMadCow If you can get tactics and revisions done to your char by 12.01 am Tuesday and tactics into me by the same time I will run the fight before wed. this way cat will be happy because he can revise his tactics conserning the luck domain power, and you will not feel rushed into a fight inwhich noone even knew if it was going to take place. If you cannot have your tactics and revisions done by that time I will re-run the match when new pairing are done on wed. Now for My reasoning. just because something is done wrong over and over again does not make it right. If another charector had used Luck domain to re-roll init it should have been cought there but if noone complained then noone stood up for correctness. resently a Necromancer was found to have taken divination as a prohibited school which is not possable. he fought that way for 2-3 fights before someone found out and said something. noone had complained before but once it was noticed and complained about it had to be corrected. I feel now looking at the luck domain (which I lay the blame on myself as a DM for not looking up during the fight) that the tactic was in error and normaly would be ignoried the same as someone saying they wished to take a 5 foot step before a charge in the same round. however Cat bleived that since it was never disputed before it shouldnt be now. but it was and must be delt with. So Speakith the PitLord ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ash your fight comment was noted, and rolled, Sin got a total of 15 vs DC 10 thanks for the pickup p.s. Gah! Sorry. I know I said I'd have the fight up today, but my computer crashed this morning after my sister installed zoo tychoon 2. I didn't even get to play Half Life 2 Oh suuuuuuure blame it on your sister lol |
| Caterane12-26-04, 12:56 PM | Cat bleived that since it was never disputed before it shouldnt be now. but it was and must be delt with. @T'Var: No, this is not what I said. After Ashenai posted that I have to specify the initiative number at which I want to use my luck domain, we could have either let the fight as it is (because I would have specified a number higher than 10), or change the fight. We chose the latter one, which was in LLMadCow's favor. Ok, so far I am OK with that (compare to your quote above). Now the correct way to handle the situation would be to let me specify the number now and reroll initiative. I am faced with the same situation because I do not know what the rolls will be so this is the obvious solution. However, we're doing a complete rerun and I can use the luck domain later in the fight instead during ini. Alright, again in LLMadCow's favor but still ok. But it won't be a complete rerun only, we are now supposed to write new tactics aswell which has nothing to do with the luck domain at all. Furthermore, the fight will probably be delayed into next week. Considering that the LG reset is imminent (which will knock Ixenthor out for months) I enjoy every week I can face a new opponoment/level. T'Var, I don't understand it. I am not going to revise my tactics (other than the ini luck count) because that is what I think is the best way to deal with Herrix. Unfortunately, my tactics are clearly posted on the fights thread and LLMadCow can now read them and adept perfectly because he is allowed to write new tactics. I really wonder what this has to do with the luck domain. |
| T'Var12-26-04, 01:41 PM | Firstly T'var is going to be out for MONTHS also, So will Cremator so is EVERY charector in the Arena atm to that point is null and void. This will be my final words on the subject. Unless LLMadCow tells Me directly that he wishs truely wishs to abandon this battle, It will be re-ran. It started with the luck debate true, but I was uncomfortable about running this fight to begin with because of the short notice it put both you and he on. since the current fight was totally dependent on archangels roll-over fight. therefor Both of you were rushed to come up with on the spot tactics while yes Cat your tactics have been virtually the same since Archangel made a return appearence againt TVar, so it was not difficult for you to come up with said tactics LLMadCow had to wait until the fight was over, wait until you had updated before rushing tactics to me before friday. He had no choise BUT to edit his char 2 days after the debate over Ixenthor vs Ex Nihilo lasted almost until the 24th. I realize My stance here has probably made me rather unliked for the time being. but it is what I think is right. Cat you have the same ammout of time to change your tactics if youd like as I stated earlier so MadCow cannot just read and conquor as you sugjest. |
| Pittbull12-26-04, 02:13 PM | Puhh! This took very long, but now Lorelei vs. Cliche (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5117307&postcount=1129) is up! Now start with with Illyx vs. Luken! It'll be posted this evening or tomorrow. Edit: Illyx vs Luken is posted too. |
| LLMadCow12-26-04, 07:00 PM | Unless LLMadCow tells Me directly that he wishs truely wishs to abandon this battle, It will be re-ran. Well, after much thought and consideration, I am sticking with the loss for Herrix. Caterane has put a great deal of time and effort into his tactics, and it is very unfair of me to ask for a re-run, especially considering how much time I have had to read his tactics. The issue was minimal. Ixenthor is the superior combatant, and the result would likely be the same. I am not going to re-write tactics, nor am I going to acknowledge any other fight. The fight was short and simple. In hind-sight I was foolish to request a re-run since the likely result is the same with the bonus feature of wasting a bunch of my gold which is just - stupid. So, I am not abandoning this battle, so much as acknowledging the unavoidable truth. I apologize for any inconveniences I have caused. |

| scaryfroman12-26-04, 09:33 PM | I just realized, looking over Rag's sheet, that I had forgotten to update his HP. as a DgD, that's 9 more (or 21 when raging.) I'm not going to request a rerun, though, as it was my fault. If Taryn's player wants a more fair fight, rag would be happy to... |
| Sindorin12-26-04, 11:48 PM | Re: Illyx vs. Luken fight This is being relayed through Nanaleigh at Sindorin's house because he is out of town till Tuesday. I have read his fight to him and he believes that Illyx's tactics were not followed. After Illyx casted hold person, she was supposed to coup de grace that should have ended the fight sooner. Nanaleigh |
| Pittbull12-27-04, 02:53 AM | Re: Illyx vs. Nanaleigh For this fight, Illyx will wear her Periapt of Wisdom instead of her Brooch of Shielding. Illyx enters mounted on Monyx with her bow out and ready. She takes to the air immediately and gets within sight distance of Luken but does not yet attack. Instead she will buff with Resist Energy (electric), and cast magic weapon on her bow, though she may not need it. With this little unnecessary buffs up, proceed to hit him with Doom, then Hold Person from as far away as possible. If he fails the save, kill him. If he does not fail the save, Cast Blindness/Deafness on him, making him blind. If he survives this, keep the pressure on with the other Hold Person. If he manages to make all of these saves, proceed to buff up with Bless and Divine Favor and shoot him with the bow from afar. Always stay out of range of anything he uses, including astral constructs. If Illyx should take any kind of hit and survive, convert to heal her with a level 2 or 3 spell (dispel magic works well) if she is below 18 hps. Keep in the air. If arrows are not hitting well due to his shield spell, try to dispel it. Have fun with Illyx and Luken's rematch!!! @Nanaleigh and Sindorin: Sorry, no problem, but you didn't write "coup de grace him". In combinition that you always wanted to stay away from him, being aware that he is able to manifest during the hold person spell, I thought it's your wish to kill him from the distance. The problem is, Luken got great luck. As you all surely know, I don't speak the best English, if it's my fault, I'll change the fight immedeatly, but we have to be fair and wait to let Huan respond to this issue. |
| Jindl12-27-04, 01:14 PM | I just realized, looking over Rag's sheet, that I had forgotten to update his HP. as a DgD, that's 9 more (or 21 when raging.) I'm not going to request a rerun, though, as it was my fault. If Taryn's player wants a more fair fight, rag would be happy to... It's fine with me if T'Var wants to continue the fight. However, Taryn's last arrow took Ragnarr to -9 hps, so with the correction to bring your uninjured total to 58 hps, that will mean the fight will continue with Ragnarr at 0/58 hps and Taryn at 31/43 hps (and with 3 mirror images left). Perhaps Ragnarr could rage to gain 12 hps and get lucky with some criticals that target the right image, but I'd say the odds are stacked pretty far against you, my friend. @T'Var - It's up to you. I don't mind if you want to finish this fight with the corrected hps. -Jindl |
| T'Var12-27-04, 01:22 PM | will do, Ill continue the battle from the last round with the updated hp |
| Einzelgaenger12-27-04, 10:51 PM | Has Huan been around the last couple days? The fight between Derthark and Khalil isn't up, and it's already Tuesday GMT. |
| Huan12-27-04, 11:15 PM | Yes, I am here, and no, I have not been here the last few days given the holiday weekend. Khalil vs Derthark (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5124491) is up. I apologize for any lateness. The fight is another case of first strike versus an opportunity of lowered AC. Barring no complications, I can revise the bare-bones version by tomorrow morning... I also hope no one thinks I have been skipping out on writing stories... it all comes tomorrow...:smirk: @Pittbull and Sindorin I think Pittbull did a good job of interpreting tactics. On one hand he could have done what you said, moved in for the CDG, but I would have readied an action against so, as said in my tactics. Additionally, I would have very likely interrupted you every time. The fight could have gone that way... or it could have gone how Pittbull deemed it. Either way was fine, but I believe Pittbull did precisely as you requested to the best of his understanding. There was no way for you to get adjacent to me and CDG and stay out of my manifesting range at the same time. |
| T'Var12-28-04, 01:29 AM | Taryn vs Ragnarr has been extended, same result but Taryn used 3 more arrows and Ragnarr used a charge from the enlarge wand |
| Einzelgaenger12-28-04, 06:44 AM | @Huan: Did those listen checks include DC increases for every 10 feet of distance? That may affect the outcome, as he only barely pinpointed me. |
| Huan12-28-04, 08:57 AM | @Einzelgaenger Yes, I took that into account. After Derthark unfortunately happened to do a horrible job of moving silently, Khalil happened to listen really well at that same time. A pure coincidence, really. |
| T'Var12-28-04, 10:52 AM | Battousai2005 any chance on seeing Cremator vs Tara today? |
| Snommelp12-28-04, 01:54 PM | Battousai2005 any chance on seeing Cremator vs Tara today? Ooh, and you're the one who normally offers to run the late fights, too. If Batt's not up to it we'll have to find someone else, I guess. |
| T'Var12-28-04, 03:04 PM | Ooh, and you're the one who normally offers to run the late fights, too. If Batt's not up to it we'll have to find someone else, I guess. doesnt look good does it |
| scaryfroman12-28-04, 04:04 PM | Taryn vs Ragnarr has been extended, same result but Taryn used 3 more arrows and Ragnarr used a charge from the enlarge wand Hmm. Rag is starting to do a little better than before. I see some ways that I could have won this. My mobility could use some improvement, and If I am ever high enough level, my favorite mount could help here. Good fight, though. |
| Sindorin12-28-04, 04:18 PM | Okay first things first: apologies! I am sorry to my Deutsch friends Pittbull and Caterane for my short and vague tactics. I went three for three this week in terms of adaptation, and that is not fair to either of you. Things have been very hectic around here, what with it being the fabled 'holiday season' and whatnot. The tactics were written quickly and since then I have been away from a stable internet connection. I just read over the fights and I greatly applaud my pitlords for their patience, and I have no further questions about how the fights were run. I only had Nanaleigh post because she was here and I was not, and I couldn't see what was going on :) Nice work, fellas. |
| Einzelgaenger12-28-04, 05:12 PM | @Einzelgaenger Yes, I took that into account. After Derthark unfortunately happened to do a horrible job of moving silently, Khalil happened to listen really well at that same time. A pure coincidence, really. how was it a net +2 mod? we were 40-50 feet away, which gives +4 or 5 to DC. one other thing, what lowered my AC to 15? |
| Huan12-28-04, 07:33 PM | The charge lowered your/Derthark's AC to 15. (19 AC -1 size -1 dex (from size) -2 charge = 15 AC) Looking back, I think you may have been correct about the Listen. It seems I took the wrong distance into account. So sorry, but it would not have affected the fight at all (since the attack missed anyway) except that Khalil would then have 2 more pp in the end (since he would not have fired blindly) or he would have had more AC, causing Derthark to miss his tanglefoot bag throw (since he would have darted for cover if he did not pinpoint you). If what you say is true, then it actually helps Khalil (but still a moot point). |
| Battousai200512-28-04, 09:07 PM | Dang. Listen, I'm sorry to everyone. My computer died. I'm at a public computer right now and don't have time. I actually called Mystic up yesterday to try to get him to post something. I have had 0 access to the characters sheets all weekend. I guess its the late penalty. Truth be told, I wasn't planning on pitlording for a while as I just seem to keep screwing up. Not worth the hate mail ;) . Sorry again. |

| Huan12-29-04, 03:26 AM | Ok everyone, now that most of the holiday hustle and bustle is over, I fell I can now unveil the stories I have been holding back on. For some reason, I felt it was better to wait and release them all at once rather than one by one. :P Note that I always intend to write a story for every one of my fights, so if you ever have me as a pitlord, please help out by pointing out a little RP to me (it helps me write more if you do). :) Lance vs T'Var (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5046376) Ixenthor vs Ildechai (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5046385) Ixenthor vs Ex Nihilo (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5091606) Khalil vs Derthark (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5124491) Enjoy! |
