| Sindorin01-19-05, 12:44 PM | What what WHAT!? I know, it's early. But it's not THAT early. ;) :P :D  |
| Dalton Onestone01-19-05, 03:12 PM | Why is this thread always called "Fight" when "Fights" would be more accurate and clearer? When I first came to this board, that confusion actually got in my way for a while. |
| Jindl01-19-05, 03:18 PM | Why is this thread always called "Fight" when "Fights" would be more accurate and clearer? When I first came to this board, that confusion actually got in my way for a while. When I opened the first "Fights of the Week" thread, it was correctly plural. But as time has gone on and other people have opened it, it has degenerated into the singular version. In the interests of preventing confusion, perhaps we should more correctly name it. -Jindl |
| Beldin01-19-05, 03:21 PM | evolution... ;) |
| LLMadCow01-19-05, 04:14 PM | evolution... ;) Or regression from a previous evolution... |
| Sindorin01-19-05, 04:57 PM | I like to think of it as a united effort, our constant struggle against the bounds by which we play this game in. That's why I, at least, use the singular form of the word. If it is confusing, I can change it to "fights" to avoid confusion, however it occurs. |
| T'Var01-19-05, 05:07 PM | @Pitlords is this weeks fights still on? or pairing delayed ect ect? |
| Sindorin01-20-05, 04:06 PM | ahem Stop editing your sheets now. The adjusted editing deadline is upon us. Let the randomness persist! |
| Pitlords01-20-05, 04:16 PM | Pairings will now commence. Please stop editing your characters. Also, Sindorin, I don't mind if you post the Fights of the Week thread a little early, but 11 months early is perhaps a bit much. Please fix the thread title. :D |
| T'Var01-20-05, 04:35 PM | Pairings will now commence. Please stop editing your characters. Also, Sindorin, I don't mind if you post the Fights of the Week thread a little early, but 11 months early is perhaps a bit much. Please fix the thread title. :D woohoo almost christmas again!!! |
| Sindorin01-20-05, 05:18 PM | Wow, it took a while for someone to notice that. Hehe. |
| Pitlords01-20-05, 07:46 PM | Okay, I'm unable to edit posts again (I spent the better half of an hour wrestling with the boards, to no avail). I'll fix the roster as soon as possible, but I think everyone needs me to roll the pairings already. Until then, please note the following inaccuracies in the roster: Rath (Ayatoshi) and Kiyo Zephlyn (Zepher) have fixed their characters, and now have no violation. Lora "Phoenix" Seagallows (MadCowTemplate) and Brandt, Cadman Chival III (MadCowTemplate) are active this week. Sorry for the delay, we hope the boards will be better soon. Pairings coming up. |
| SnarkHunter01-20-05, 09:17 PM | Most troublesome, I hope you can post the rolls soon anyway. |
| Pitlords01-20-05, 09:37 PM | Pairings are complete. 31 fights... that might just be an all-time record. Please get your tactics in by Saturday midnight, GMT. Fights are still due on Tuesday, 8 AM GMT, as always. If you have any concerns regarding pairings or your fight, please post here. Also post here if you've sent or received tactics. Credit issues: Ashenai, Ayatoshi, and Sindorin have 4 characters active, which costs them 2 credits each. Kaigan, SnarkHunter, Snommelp, and T'Var have 3 characters active, which costs them 1 credit each. Caterane, Pittbull, and T'Var are running 3 fights. They earn 3 credits each. Ashenai, Ayatoshi, Cellardweller, Huan, LLMadCow, MadCowTemplate, scaryfroman, and Snommelp are running 2 fights. They earn 2 credits each. Einzelgaenger, Jindl, Kaigan, Naerdaloth, Sindorin, and SnarkHunter are running 1 fight. They earn 1 credit each. Ashenai and Caterane earn 1 credit each for board administration. LLMadCow earns 1 credit for helping with the FAQ a lot. Furthermore, in the huge rush, we have been neglecting to give story awards to those who deserve them. Better late than never... Huan earns 3 credits for his three awesome stories: Hagrid vs. Astrokhen, Keth'Arian'Kari vs The Buddha, and Naerdaloth vs the Elder. The man is clearly quite mad. That, or he's determined to pass Cat in the credits department. Cellardweller earns 1 credit for "The Duel Masters Saga – Part 1": Ex Nihilo vs. Zeem Z’ayn Sindorin also earns 1 credit for Ayatoshi vs. Oz Savage. Totalling up: Credit changes: Huan +5 Caterane +4 Cellardweller, LLMadCow, Pittbull +3 MadCowTemplate, scaryfroman, T'Var +2 Ashenai, Einzelgaenger, Jindl, Naerdaloth, Snommelp +1 |
| Aramil Dunskar01-20-05, 10:15 PM | Tactics sent to Kaigen for Grakk vs Derth... the barbarian vs barbarian fight.... -Aramil |
| Ashenai01-20-05, 10:18 PM | At Cat's request, I've rolled init for Uhmentarymster vs. KoRn: KoRn: 19 + 2 = 21 Uhmentarymster: 17 + 2 = 19 Plan your tactics accordingly. Rolls are HERE (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=Uhmen-Korn). |
| Dalton Onestone01-20-05, 10:55 PM | Wow, it took a while for someone to notice that. Hehe. Well, I noticed a while ago, but -- perhaps uncharacteristicially -- was too polite to point it out ... |
| Sindorin01-20-05, 11:03 PM | I did it as a kind of psychological experiment - people would be looking for a new Fight of the week thread... but they wouldn't necessarily notice if I changed the month. I guess it failed. oh well. :D |
| One_Winged_Angel01-20-05, 11:11 PM | Sent in tactics for Lia to Huan. Sorry if they are a little long considering they are somewhat simplistic, but I have often felt the sting of getting nailed if I missed something. BTW, forgot my usual "if he does something I don't expect, use your best judgement." |
| Huan01-20-05, 11:13 PM | @OWA Tactics recieved for Lia, thank you. (Better to write too much than too little, I say). |
| SnarkHunter01-20-05, 11:14 PM | *computer explodes into blood and spiders* Well I better get tactics done quick for it gets any worse. |
| One_Winged_Angel01-20-05, 11:16 PM | *computer explodes into blood and spiders* Well I better get tactics done quick for it gets any worse. ...Blood and spiders? ... ... ... Blood, I understand, but spiders?... ... ... |
| SnarkHunter01-21-05, 12:06 AM | ...Blood and spiders? ... ... ... Blood, I understand, but spiders?... ... ... You probably don't want to know. Honestly. You'll sleep better that way. Also tactics for Moon mistakenly emailed to Caterane and then to Sindorian. |
| Jindl01-21-05, 12:11 AM | You probably don't want to know. Honestly. You'll sleep better that way. Also tactics for Moon mistakenly emailed to Caterane and then to Sindorian. Snark- Please check the violations thread for a mistake on Moon-moon. -Jindl |

| SnarkHunter01-21-05, 12:22 AM | Snark- Please check the violations thread for a mistake on Moon-moon. -Jindl Yeah that is a big one. Can't see how I let that slip by, guess that I'll turn Power attack into Ride-by-attack then. I'll mention it to Sin as well. Edit: Tactics for Evram and the Buddha sent off to the proper GMs this time (I hope). |
| Snommelp01-21-05, 12:50 AM | Tactics PMed to T'Var, Huan, and LLMadCow (those were my pitlords, right?) |

| Huan01-21-05, 02:50 AM | Tactics for both Tara and Zactor recieved with impressive speed; expect that fight to be done Saturday. |
| Pitlords01-21-05, 03:43 AM | Addendum to the credit post, above: We realize that DM-ing the WLD is a lot of work, and even though it is not technically a part of Gladius, it's doing a lot to make the CoCo more fun. Therefore, starting now, Jindl will get +1 credit every week, for as long as the WLD thread remains active. |
| Dalton Onestone01-21-05, 04:53 AM | Kwerrock's tactics have been PMed to Snommelp. Yagre's tactics vs. The Buddha will take longer; I have to read up on psionics first. |
| Pittbull01-21-05, 05:29 AM | KoRn's and Boraxx's tactics heve been PMed to their pitlords. Thank you. :) |

| Huan01-22-05, 09:14 AM | Run, Leone, Run (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5286602#post5286602) is up. Why did you not have Nell cast Entangling Ectoplasm at all on either of the two medium-sized constructs while they were out? |
| SnarkHunter01-22-05, 10:55 AM | Run, Leone, Run (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5286602#post5286602) is up. Astral Constructs act as directed by their creators. As a free action, a Construct’s manifester can direct the Construct to attack particular enemies, use specific tactics or powers, perform other actions, or do nothing at all. The Construct does exactly what its creator directs it to do. So...I'd say the constructs are about as smart as Evram is. |
| Vivat Grendel01-22-05, 11:01 AM | Tactics for Zeem sent to Naerdaloth. I got hijacked for an early birthday dinner last night. Good times. Vivat Grendel |
| Zepher01-22-05, 11:22 AM | @Ayatoshi Tactics for Kiyo sent |

| Jindl01-22-05, 12:20 PM | Nachtvogel (Ashenai) vs. Rath (Ayatoshi): Jindl @Ashenai + Ayatoshi - I have NOT recieved tactics from either of you. Please PM them to me sometime today. I will run the fight on Sunday. -Jindl |
| Huan01-22-05, 12:51 PM | @Ayatoshi Tactics for Rei have not been recieved, either. |
| scaryfroman01-22-05, 01:20 PM | Four sets of tactics recieved. DoD tactics not sent yet. |
| Snommelp01-22-05, 01:27 PM | Tactics recieved from Beldin and Maverick Knight. The fight will be run later today (I've said that often enough, but this time I mean it). |
| Caterane01-22-05, 01:40 PM | @Snark: still, it must be basic commands, similar to those given to undead so "attack" or "chase" is ok but not "Helm, lay in an intercept course, mark 104.04.365, maximum warp" @Huan: Jumpey was large so you couldn't target it with entangling ectoplasm. If you hadn't used all your moves to escape, you would've suffered an attack from it, which probably would've been a pounce. Jumpey didn't vanish before Round 12 at which point you were already at 2/30 hp. What I can do is manifest entangling ectoplasm during round 13 on Bitey. |
| scaryfroman01-22-05, 01:47 PM | DoD tactics sent. This'll be a rough one. Pretty much a save or die kind of thing. |
| Naerdaloth01-22-05, 02:17 PM | Boraxx vs. Zeem up. what, you expected me to actually tell you the result here? |
| Ashenai01-22-05, 02:21 PM | All tactics sent. All tactics received. |
| Kaigan01-22-05, 02:22 PM | @Naerdloth: I just briefly looked over your fight, and i noticed something. I think i round 3. You had Boraxx drop his bow, draw his lance, and charge. Well i don't think you can do that. A charge is a full round action. and drawing a weapon is a move action. Just to let you know |
| Arstimis01-22-05, 02:29 PM | @ Pitbull - Tactics for Britknee sent |
| Snommelp01-22-05, 02:30 PM | You had Boraxx drop his bow, draw his lance, and charge. Well i don't think you can do that. A charge is a full round action. and drawing a weapon is a move action. I just checked the PHB, and I think it's allowed. The PHB says that the rider can make both a move action and a standard action while the mount is moving. It doesn't specifically mention charging, but during the charge it would be the mount that was moving, not the rider, which leads me to the conclusion that Boraxx can drop his bow, draw his lance, and attack at the end of Babe's charge. |

I like it! Actually, the issue is here. It also states that to direct a mount is a move action. The reason that mounted charges are even allowed is that it states that your mount charging grants all normal benifits of a charge. |
| Dalton Onestone01-22-05, 03:25 PM | @Naerdaloth: How'd you do that trick with hiding the spoiler? I like it! Hit "Quote" on his post and the answer will become clear. |
| Snommelp01-22-05, 03:30 PM | Actually, the issue is here. It also states that to direct a mount is a move action. The reason that mounted charges are even allowed is that it states that your mount charging grants all normal benifits of a charge. From the context in the Combat chapter, I had assumed the move action to direct it only applied to mounts that weren't combat trained (i.e. heavy horses, but not heavy warhorses). Also, under the Ride skill it says that you do not need to roll to control a warhorse or warpony in combat, which may or may not mean that the move action is not needed. However, since directing a war-trained mount to attack is a free action, I would think it is safe to assume that directing a war-trained mount to charge is also a free action. |
| Caterane01-22-05, 04:39 PM | The fight (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5288998&posted=1#post5288998) where 2 grandmas hit each other with handbags is up. |
| Naerdaloth01-22-05, 04:56 PM | In Boraxx's tactics it mentioned drawing a lance as a free action so thats what I drew it from.. I dunno, I'll go back and edit if need be, though my feelings are even if the charge didnt occur the 50' speed horse could run down a 20' speed halfling in a couple of rounds. |
| scaryfroman01-22-05, 05:10 PM | I need advice. I am in the midst of running a fight, and one of the tactics is seriously lacking. It has absolutly no contingencies, including a "if something else happens, use your best judgement." I hardly doubt a character is just going to sit there and be a pincushion, but that is how it looks according to the tactics. What should I do? Keep running it as written, or improvise a little? Edit: clarification: The character is waiting with a readied action while another is shooting from a long distance. |
| Pitlords01-22-05, 05:18 PM | @Scary: to a certain level, pitlord adaption is absolutely okay. Try to play the character as the player would do but keep it simple since it still is the players responsibility to cover most situations. I've always advocated pitlord adaption. No one wants to see his character acting stupid, and the higher in level he is, the more a player needs to write in his tactics which is just not possible unless you write a dissertation. However, this should not include complicated maneuvers but only simple actions that help the character. |
| Sindorin01-22-05, 05:35 PM | If the aforementioned character is Sokai, I apologize. I've been extremely rushed and busy in RL, and things continue to fall apart as I hope for the best always. I understand if writing the wrong tactics, or forgetting to finish them, causes my characters to lose. It happens quite often and I rarely get out a good set of tactics as I don't think about things that in-depth. Then again, it might not be me... but looking at who you're pitlording for, it probably is. |
| One_Winged_Angel01-22-05, 06:27 PM | The fight (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5288998&posted=1#post5288998) where 2 grandmas hit each other with handbags is up. I think we need to update longest fights in the FUS section of Gladius :D |
| Caterane01-22-05, 07:24 PM | Und der dritte Streich... Sivalyn Hazeweaver - we're all anxious to hear who this is and why he is NG - against Klaxon the fighter can be found here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5289952#post5289952). @Batt: at least make that handbag masterwork!! |

| SnarkHunter01-22-05, 09:33 PM | Recieved tactics from Jindl and Ash, I'll get the fight going as soon as I can get my computer's spiders back in order. |
| LLMadCow01-22-05, 09:35 PM | @All - I didn't check to see who is running McTemplate fights, but he is ill and requests that his fights be run with default tactics. LL |
| Ashenai01-22-05, 11:14 PM | Uhmentarymster the Old vs. KoRn is up. |
| Sindorin01-22-05, 11:16 PM | @ Pitlords, Snarkhunter, & Cellardweller I apologize, but things have gotten really crazy here. I have a lot more homework and reading than I realized, and I have had crises at work so I have been called in unscheduled several times. I will not be able to run this fight (dock whatever credits I would have gotten for it) and I will forward these tactics to someone. I will probably not be as active on here, and maybe with less characters and somehow getting less on my plate, I will manage to make a good effort to write better tactics at some point. I am just glad that I caught this about the fight before it was too late. Once again, I am really sorry. Sometimes I can't help what goes on here in RL. I will PM the prefight that I have completed already to Pitlords. |
| Pitlords01-22-05, 11:29 PM | Thank you for doing this early! There should be no trouble finding a new pitlord. We hope you roll your Escape Artist check against Real Life's grapple soon. :) Your PM with the tactics for MoonMoon vs. Damon Tharkis has been received, and will be sent to the first person who's willing to run the fight. Who's interested? |
| Sindorin01-22-05, 11:34 PM | heh, thanks. I don't know what my modifier would be, but here I go: Escape Artist check (1d20+2=21) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=54618) Hmm. I rolled pretty well. Too bad I don't know what the DC is. Thiry-something, I'd imagine :( :weep: |
| T'Var01-22-05, 11:38 PM | Insane HUGE errors on Klaxon vs Sivlayn: 1: as per my tactics his horse was my first target, so why were AoOs taken against Sivlayn and not his horse??? 2: round 4) AoO should do 4 dmg to his horse, round 5) 9dmg to horse, round 6) 6dmg to his horse which is 19dmg his horse falls dead 3: last round his CDGs me doing only 10 dmg, why was there no saving throw rolled? the DC for me to live was only 20 which means i would have only needed to roll a 14 |
| Ashenai01-23-05, 12:10 AM | Insane HUGE errors on Klaxon vs Sivlayn: 1: as per my tactics his horse was my first target, so why were AoOs taken against Sivlayn and not his horse??? I imagine my horse was using the Withdraw option (as long as it was double-moving anyway, this would be an obvious decision), meaning no AoO against the horse, only Sivalyn (and even that's debatable). 3: last round his CDGs me doing only 10 dmg, why was there no saving throw rolled? the DC for me to live was only 20 which means i would have only needed to roll a 14 You had only 9 hps before the CDG. If you had made the save, you'd still be dying. |
| T'Var01-23-05, 12:35 AM | I imagine my horse was using the Withdraw option (as long as it was double-moving anyway, this would be an obvious decision), meaning no AoO against the horse, only Sivalyn (and even that's debatable). if your horse was only withdrawing than My horse should have gotten a charging attack almost every round since our speed was the same, You had only 9 hps before the CDG. If you had made the save, you'd still be dying. ok but still totally dependent on your horse not dieing. which even if the AoO wasnt against the horse the dmg would have been 15 leaving your horse at 0, disabled and carring a rider even at half movement is stressfull which would do dmg |
| Ashenai01-23-05, 01:20 AM | if your horse was only withdrawing than My horse should have gotten a charging attack almost every round since our speed was the same, Only if my horse was withdrawing in a straight line... and I don't think withdrawing 100' in a straight line is even possible in the Arena, even if my horse wanted to (and he certainly didn't want to). ok but still totally dependent on your horse not dieing. which even if the AoO wasnt against the horse the dmg would have been 15 leaving your horse at 0, disabled and carring a rider even at half movement is stressfull which would do dmg Actually, I think Cat forgot to do damage to my horsie in rounds 4 and 5. That means the shot in round 6 should have taken my horse into negative HPs. From there (according to our tactics): you probably draw your glaive, I hit you with Color Spray (stun for 4 rounds), then Sleep, and CDG. You take 10 damage and make a Fort save against DC 20. If you make it, you wake up but are still stunned, and I steal your glaive. Does that sound about right? |

Does that sound about right? all except if cat were to keep the rolls, those many many attacks from your crossbow would have actually allowed me to be stunned by color spray but save on the next 6 will saves so i never would have fallen asleep so no CDG |
| Snommelp01-23-05, 02:00 AM | It's not midnight in Arizona yet, so this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5292355) is on time! I call it "the attack of the rabid horse!" |
| T'Var01-23-05, 02:10 AM | All of my fights have been posted |
| Snommelp01-23-05, 02:19 AM | Heh... figures I would forget about the potions of PfG and SoF. The only problem I see is that you used the AC of 17. I purposefully left the Dodge bonus out of the listed AC in case I fought a gladiator with an ally. That negates one hit, which would probably only prolong the fight for one more round or so. |

| Snommelp01-23-05, 02:46 AM | Thanks for the edit, T'Var. On a related note, I'm happy he thought I was threatening enough to justify using 200 gp worth of expendables. |
| Ashenai01-23-05, 03:33 AM | all except if cat were to keep the rolls, those many many attacks from your crossbow would have actually allowed me to be stunned by color spray but save on the next 6 will saves so i never would have fallen asleep so no CDG When rerunning, rolls should always be kept "by theme", and not in strict order (for example, a saving throw against Color Spray should remain a saving throw against Color Spray in the rerun, if possible). This is to avoid a person insisting a rerun because of some trivial thing, just because it would then change all of the subsequent rolls. For example, let's say two gladiators are fighting. Neither of them is trying to do anything covert, and they're both looking for each other, so the pitlord doesn't make Move Silently checks. One of the players could then request a rerun, because while Move Silently checks wouldn't normally change anything, they'd make all of the rolls later on different. "He hit me with a critical? Well, if you had rolled Move Silently in every round, that 20 would have been one of my Listen checks!" In other words, keeping rolls in order rather than by theme would make every tiny error a major, fight-changing event, which is a Bad Thing. |
| Einzelgaenger01-23-05, 06:00 AM | Rex vs Orc-dude is up. *looks up* Yeah, rolls already rolled should be kept as that roll, so a replay doesn't give the loser another chance to make that fortitude roll, or suddenly damage given changes. I stated as much when i revamped my third fight. Any roll that occurs in one was the same in the other. The only thing that needs rolling is things that didn't happen the first time around. Likewise, rolls that didn't occur the second time around should not be put in places where they don't belong. Just my $2. |
| Caterane01-23-05, 06:41 AM | I forgot indeed the damage to the horse in round 4+5. The mistake has been corrected. The fight is now much shorter and both parties have used less items. link (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5289952#post5289952) @T'Var: What you request (keep and shift the rolls) is just impossible. As Ash pointed out, it would make pitlording the most annoying job if every time someone loses the loser requests a complete relocation of all the rolls just because my familiar didn't get a listen check against the horse's movement in round 1. Surely Ash can request the same with the result that we will still sit here in 3 weeks and trying to find rolls that could be made and that every pitlord will quit his job (besides, since Sivalyn now got a ride roll to prevent damage from falling out of the saddle, your rolls would be 6 and 12 which both fail the saves but that's as I said unimportant anyway). Rolls by theme however must be kept for the same reason mentioned above. They are tied to a specific clearly distinguishable event and have an impact on most outcomes. This is how we've always handled it. @Cellardweller: I've sent tactics long ago; thursday I think. I've just resent them by PM. |
| stinkygoblin01-23-05, 12:26 PM | wow i can't hit the broadside of a barn. i quess i will will have to attempt to write some better tactics next time. It is time to give up on javelins at least from that far away |
| SnarkHunter01-23-05, 03:42 PM | Just curious, did anyone take Sindorin's fight? |
| Jindl01-23-05, 04:49 PM | Just curious, did anyone take Sindorin's fight? I can take it, if Ash wants to forward the tactics to me (or if cellar and Snark want to just send them to me). @Ayatoshi - Still no tactics for Rath  If I don't have them when I start the fight, I'll just try to extrapolate from your very limited default tactics... @All - I didn't check to see who is running McTemplate fights, but he is ill and requests that his fights be run with default tactics. What about the fights he was assigned to run? Do they need to be reassigned? -Jindl |
| Huan01-23-05, 06:36 PM | Recent lightning storms in my area have put a hold on my fights, but they have subsided, so I will get my fights done tonight. @Ayatoshi I STILL have not recieved tactics for Rei. If I don't get something in the next 6 hours, then I will run on default tactics. |
| Jindl01-23-05, 06:45 PM | Forwarded tactics recieved from Pitlords for Damon Tharkis vs Skymoon Moonbow. |
| Pitlords01-23-05, 06:46 PM | Thanks, Jindl. Damon Tharkis (Cellardweller) vs. Skymoon Moonbow (SnarkHunter) has been reassigned to Jindl. Tactics have been PM'ed. Credit changes: Sindorin -1, Jindl +1 Also, good point; we need people to take MadCowTemplate's two fights, please: Eniolissaryn the Elder (Jindl) vs. Emad "The Relic" Chagar (MysticMonk2005) Yagre (Dalton Onestone) vs. The Buddha (SnarkHunter) First come, first serve. EDIT: Cancel the above. LLMadCow just told me that MadCowTemplate will be able to run his fights. |
| Aramil Dunskar01-23-05, 08:23 PM | Aramil you CAN NOT edit after 9pm GMT this is the second week in a row you have done so. Then can someone please do me a HUGE favor and email me the time when I can edit by so this won't happen in the future? I don't have time to go and check when I can or cannot edit my character, I am sorry for this and I'll try to not do this in the future. But if I can get an email once a week from someone, anyone, that would be much appeciated. Sorry again -Aramil |
| LLMadCow01-23-05, 08:48 PM | What about the fights he was assigned to run? Do they need to be reassigned? -Jindl Negative, Ghost-Player. McTemplate will be running his fights later tonight and posting by tomorrow. @[People waiting for my fights] - I will be running fights shortly, and posting them tomorrow. I delayed running a bit longer in hopes of getting the remaining tactics and running more meaningful fights, but still I am short tactics. So, if anyone wanted to get a final message in for tactics, now is the time. I'll check back in a few hours. |
| Snommelp01-23-05, 09:43 PM | @Aramil: the time to stop editing will almost always be 9 PM GMT on Wednesday. This week was the first that I have seen this change, and that was to add an extra day. If you can't remember this, though, a good rule of thumb to follow is that if pairings are posted, you can't edit anymore. |

| Snommelp01-24-05, 02:28 AM | *yawn* Kwerrock and Lora are taking forever with this fight, so I'll finish it tomorrow after my classes. Here's how things stand right now: End Round 11: Kwerrock 21/28 Horse 14/22 bottom left (14, -6) Lora 18/25 Special 13/13 (13, -4) BTW, "Special" is what I named the wolf, since it had no name and was listed under the heading "Special." |

Wow. I didn't think she'd do that well! Well, Kwerrock can outhit her, and his horse can match up well in hitting against the wolf, and Kwerrock can outbuff her, so he should be alright ... Thanks for running the fight! |
| Kaigan01-24-05, 03:01 AM | Well here it is folks. The most exciting fight in the history of gladius. *Yawn* Grakk vs. Derth Half-orc Barbarian vs. Half-orc Barbarian I must say, this really reminded me of an old nintendo game. The cave man game. Anyone remember that. Where you just bonged the opponent over the head with a club. Granted that swords are sharper than clubs, this still reminded me of it.[/rant] |
| Pittbull01-24-05, 04:07 AM | Asai Carthan (Ayatoshi) vs. Brandt, Cadman Chival III (MadCowTemplate): Pittbull Both combatants sent no tactic!!! |
| Ashenai01-24-05, 04:47 AM | Both combatants sent no tactic!!! Brandt has default tactics, please use those. AsaiCarthan has no default tactics either... you can either run the fight and have Asai Carthan use simple tactics (casting Shocking Grasp and trying to touch his opponent comes to mind), or you can award an auto-win to Brandt. I prefer the first solution because at least that way, there's a fight, but it's up to you. |

| cellardweller01-24-05, 07:01 AM | Indri vs Rook is up A picture tells a thousand words |
| Pittbull01-24-05, 08:20 AM | Indri vs Rook is up A picture tells a thousand words COOOOOL!!!! |
| cellardweller01-24-05, 08:58 AM | Iminir vs Aeluath up as well, no time to add flavour I'm afraid. A shame considering how close it was. |
| Jindl01-24-05, 09:01 AM | Iminir vs Aeluath up as well, no time to add flavour I'm afraid. A shame considering how close it was. Indeed, it looks like the warhorse was the winner... |
| Caterane01-24-05, 09:24 AM | Indri vs Rook is up A picture tells a thousand words Yeah David!!! Awesome!! That was so damn cool! Did you specifically create the pictures just for this battle? If yes, is it difficult? Btw, I also want to comment the last story with the trading card game. I always love it if the Harvester makes an appearance, even if it was just in name. Btw, the Talyana deck won with 1 hp left and an angry Harvester+Nightingale 5ft infront of you :tantrum: . Ready for a revenge? (lvl 20) :fight!: Anyway, thanks for the cool pictures!! |
| Huan01-24-05, 10:58 AM | @Cellardweller Wow, those were pretty cool! Bare-bones of Tara vs Zactor (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5301282) is up. |
| T'Var01-24-05, 11:18 AM | @Cellardweller Wow, those were pretty cool! Bare-bones of Tara vs Zactor (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5301282) is up. ahh my bad, thought force effects added to touch ac like deflection does also thanks ill fix it during updating |
| T'Var01-24-05, 04:59 PM | @LLMadCow Ala’andor Amastacia has 21 hitpoints because of taking a toad as a familior +3hp so the fight isnt over at round 7....unfortunatly from the look of it, wont last much past round 8 but hey always a chance for a crit! ;) |
| Snommelp01-24-05, 05:18 PM | @LLMadCow: As T'Var said, Ala'andor is at 21 because of the toad familiar. Also, you misread my tactics a bit. I don't blame you, because looking over it again it's an easy mistake. My intention was that, regardless of if Aureus saved against Sleep or not, my next spell would be Summon Monster II. That's why the clause about Mage Armor said also and was placed after the part about summoning. Other than that, it was a well-run fight; it seems I'm having bad luck with the dice, though. |
| Piuro01-24-05, 05:25 PM | 0-58 (light) Fenir is carrying 54 pounds Also, Armor Class:...20 (touch 11, flat 19, both 10) [+1dex, +9 Armor] The horse turns around and makes a full-round-attack (A1:11+6=17, hits, damage:1d6+4=8; A2:3+6=9, hits, damage: 1d6+4=5; A3:20! 6+1=7, critical, damage:2d4+4=8). Seeing as only the critical would hit me, Fenir still had 1 HP. Also, im not sure how I feel about the DM changing someones tactics to give them a better chance, seeing as the entire fights are based off tactics. No offence, bull. |
| cellardweller01-24-05, 05:59 PM | Did you specifically create the pictures just for this battle? If yes, is it difficult? It was set up with Neverwinter Nights and its not hard, you just have to have a lot of patience, round four alone took over an hour. I was trying to get the colorspray to hit just as the warhorse was rearing up in attack, but every time I managed to get a screendump at just the right moment, Indri would scone Rook with an arrow through the neck or something equally annoying. Btw, the Talyana deck won with 1 hp left and an angry Harvester+Nightingale 5ft infront of you :tantrum: . Ready for a revenge? (lvl 20) :fight!: Then I wouldn't be able to bring it up all the time - where's the fun in that? :D |
| Jindl01-24-05, 06:41 PM | Nachtvogel (Ashenai) vs. Rath (Ayatoshi) is posted. Despite using default tactics for one combatant, the winning PC only had 1 hp left at the end. -Jindl |
| Ashenai01-24-05, 07:11 PM | @cellardweller: In round 9 of the Iminir-Aeluath fight, why was my Mind Thrust only 1d10? Unless I missed something, I still had 4 power points left; the Mind Thrust should have been a 3d10 one, which would have been more than enough to kill Aeluath, unless my luck was specatularly horrible. Also, that Indri'ynar vs. Rook fight was pretty awesome. :) |
| Snommelp01-24-05, 07:14 PM | Kwerrock vs. Lora (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5304273) is up. Helpful hint: don't do fights late at night; you'll come back to them in the morning and realize you've forgotten important things. |
| Pittbull01-24-05, 07:28 PM | (1)0-58 (light) Fenir is carrying 54 pounds (2)Also, Armor Class:...20 (touch 11, flat 19, both 10) [+1dex, +9 Armor] The horse turns around and makes a full-round-attack (A1:11+6=17, hits, damage:1d6+4=8; A2:3+6=9, hits, damage: 1d6+4=5; A3:20! 6+1=7, critical, damage:2d4+4=8). Seeing as only the critical would hit me, Fenir still had 1 HP. (3)Also, im not sure how I feel about the DM changing someones tactics to give them a better chance, seeing as the entire fights are based off tactics. No offence, bull. (1) Sorry,my mistake, you're right! (2) Again my mistake. I fixed it! In round 3 Fenir got 9 damage from the horse. I round 4 she got 12 damage from Brit and 4 from the horse. Makes alltogether 25. Which means she is at -4. (3) This is an old issue, we dicussed very often in the CoCo. I decided to use the builds Int- and Wis-score. If it's fairly high, which means the character isn't dumb, I'll allow to adapt the tactic spontneously, if the original tactic is realy bad. In this fight Artis wrote a realy bad tactics (sorry Arti ;) ) and it has been necessary to adapt it. Nobody wants his characters being played like stupid puppets. I was allways happy, when a pitlord did this for me. If you are strictly against this and Arti wants it too. I'll restart the fight in round 4 using strictly Arti's tactic. It'll be fixed tomorrow, if you give me a go. But please rethink it. :) Please don't get me wrong, I have no problem at all. :) |
| Piuro01-24-05, 07:51 PM | Nah, the int thing makes sense. And I dont see a point in wasting anyones time, I expected Fenir to drop dead from the get-go, I just got lucky. Fenir will be godawful until level 5, when she doesnt have to worry about ASF for 1st level spells. Then again, full plate and expiditious is always fun. I think ill recycle malsvirs tattoo tactic for a while though. |
| Arstimis01-24-05, 07:52 PM | (1) Sorry,my mistake, you're right! (2) Again my mistake. I fixed it! In round 3 Fenir got 9 damage from the horse. You followed my tactics perfectly. Here is part of my tactics so no one will be confused 1. I will move as far as i need to (up to 160' ) So i can get a good view of my oppo......... .....6. If I run out of bolts or somehow she gets close pull out my sword and attack with Tilly If you made any mistakes with tactics in this fight, it was not fully reading mine, hehe. so as i see it, the fight stands |
| scaryfroman01-24-05, 07:57 PM | Rayos vs. Sokai up. I hope you like the little story. I also hope that it isnt too much against sokai's character. The result is a little surprising, though. Gotcha! |
| Kaigan01-24-05, 08:04 PM | @Scaryfroman: I don't understand the movement you used during the fight. But it seems that in round 5 where his readied crystal shard went off. Round 4: Rayos: Moves to (6,18); Shoot (7+9=16 vs. AC 21; Miss)\ Sokai: Moves to (23,-4); Readies Rayos: (-3,11); 20/20hp; Mount 13hp Sokai: (23,-4); 33/19hp; 6pp Round 5: Rayos: Moves to (-5, 21); Ready Triggered Sokai: Manifest Crystal Shard (Wild Surge; 3pp; 18+5=23vs.AC18; Hit; Damage: 5+5+4+5+2=21; Enervation 70%; ) Rayos: Dies. (Stay in Saddle: 80%; Falls)_ That My character is well away from him. Besides, the range of crystal shard is only 30 ft. And according to my tactics, I would have never gotten in that type of range, even if he was hiding behind a rock. I could have easily circled to maintain my distance. Just curious about how you handled this part. |
| scaryfroman01-24-05, 08:12 PM | Sorry about the notation, I realized there were problems when I put it up, but i hoped no one would notice. I assure you though that you were in range. I have it all marked out on my printout of the map. Sorry about the tactics, though. I'll see what I can do. That just seemed like the most likely action, though. |
| Snommelp01-24-05, 08:20 PM | @LLMadCow: I found something else to complain about. In my tactics, I said that Ala'andor would try to keep the greatest line of sight possible in all directions. In the fight, you had him run headlong into the central obstructions. I'm curious as to why you thought this strategy fit into the tactics sent. |
| cellardweller01-24-05, 08:23 PM | @cellardweller: In round 9 of the Iminir-Aeluath fight, why was my Mind Thrust only 1d10? Because it was late and I was tired? I'll adjust the fight during my lunch break. |
| Arstimis01-24-05, 08:50 PM | @LLMadCow: I found something else to complain about. In my tactics, I said that Ala'andor would try to keep the greatest line of sight possible in all directions. Im sorry, but that isnt really in the spirit of this place I've found something else to complain about.... come on..at least speak more tactfully if you have something to say |
| Snommelp01-24-05, 09:02 PM | @Arstimis: that was an attempt at humor. If you look at this board with a cynical eye (which I am cursed to have), you can see a complaint in almost everything posted. If you would prefer, I could fall back on the cliched "You ran the fight super-well, and everything is really great except [insert problem here]." That seems less than genuine to me, though. |
| Arstimis01-24-05, 09:06 PM | Oh, hehe, sorry i failed to see the humor |
| Snommelp01-24-05, 09:14 PM | Oh, hehe, sorry i failed to see the humor Yeah, I get that a lot, except usually it's not so much "I missed the joke the first time" as it is "was that supposed to be funny? Because I'm not laughing." |
| Jindl01-24-05, 09:22 PM | Damon Tharkis (cellardweller) vs Skymoon Moonbow (Snarkhunter) is posted. Stupid Wordpad. |
| Ashenai01-24-05, 09:23 PM | Because it was late and I was tired? I'll adjust the fight during my lunch break. Thank you! Otherwise, you ran the fight super-well, and everything is really great except for that one problem. (:D @ Snommelp) |

| Caterane01-24-05, 09:42 PM | @Jindl: WordPad :nonono: Get something with autosave. I'm not sure if Cellardweller's non-functioning link helps but Microsoft Word should be sufficient |
| Kaigan01-24-05, 10:09 PM | @Scaryfroman: That's just the thing, I don't understand how I would have been in range. I don't think there is a spot in the arena that requires me to move within 30 ft of him. I did state in my tactics to stay at max range where possible. And if not, I surely would not have gone that far close to him. I don't know... If anyone else could comment on this, i would greatly appreciate it. |
| SnarkHunter01-24-05, 10:45 PM | *counts on fingers* 3 for 3 again :D. I'll work on fight late late late tonight. Kinda swamped with homework I need to stop putting off. |
| Ashenai01-24-05, 10:59 PM | Quick question; do Large ranged weapons get an increase to their range? It seems like they should, but I found no rule saying so. |
| SnarkHunter01-24-05, 11:24 PM | Do Titans get to make more then a 5ft adjustment during a full round action? |
| Jindl01-24-05, 11:41 PM | Quick question; do Large ranged weapons get an increase to their range? It seems like they should, but I found no rule saying so. Not per the rules. -Jindl |

| Jindl01-24-05, 11:49 PM | How come a weapon crafted for a large creature weighs twice as much as a medium sized one, but when a medium sized creature is enlarged by the enlarge person spell, his weapons weigh 8 times as much? |
| cellardweller01-25-05, 12:02 AM | Because the person writing the enlarge person spell was the only one with any respect for physics? |
| Huan01-25-05, 12:16 AM | Yeah, a belated, bare-bones Rei vs Lia (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5306359) is up ... don't be surprised about the results... |
| SnarkHunter01-25-05, 12:57 AM | Do Titans get to make more then a 5ft adjustment during a full round action? This was actually a comentary on Ash's question. Bigger then large creatures aren't treated very logically, though that's really no surprise. |
| Kaigan01-25-05, 12:57 AM | @Scaryfroman and anyone else that could help: I don't mean to sound persistant or angry, it's just that tomorrow I don't have a lot of time to edit my characters so I would just like to get this resolved, so that I can edit my characters if possible tonight. Here's what I wrote earlier: @Scaryfroman: I don't understand the movement you used during the fight. But it seems that in round 5 where his readied crystal shard went off. Just curious about how you handled this part. And then a little while ago. @Scaryfroman: That's just the thing, I don't understand how I would have been in range. I don't think there is a spot in the arena that requires me to move within 30 ft of him. I did state in my tactics to stay at max range where possible. And if not, I surely would not have gone that far close to him. I don't know... If anyone else could comment on this, i would greatly appreciate it. As I said above, I do sound hurried and rushed and demanding, and I really apologize. This next week in school will be a hell week for me. Four midterms can really put you down. But I would really like someone to comment on this. Thank you for your time and patience. |
| Ashenai01-25-05, 01:12 AM | Round 9 Kethyr moves and attacks ("10"+6=16 vs AC19) Alauth ("81" fails to stablize) Imnir moves back 5' and manifests another mind thrust ("5" +"1"+"8" damage), killing Alauth Thanks for the fix, CD... just one more problem (sorry about this, I only noticed this just now). Even though Alauth is dying, he still gets a Will save against Mind Thrust (+2 against DC 17). Please roll this; if he makes it, he wins (as per the previous rolls and result). Thank you! |

| Ashenai01-25-05, 01:37 AM | "5"+2=7. My brain is telling me that you only get to make fortitude saves while unconsious - did I just make this up? You probably mean "while conscious". No, I'm pretty sure there's no rule like that. |
| Pitlords01-25-05, 01:40 AM | Four fights still have not been posted. Please post them as soon as possible; you have 90 minutes left until late penalties. |
| Dalton Onestone01-25-05, 02:36 AM | @LLMadCow: I found something else to complain about. In my tactics, I said that Ala'andor would try to keep the greatest line of sight possible in all directions. In the fight, you had him run headlong into the central obstructions. I'm curious as to why you thought this strategy fit into the tactics sent. Snommelp, While we're dissecting that fight, why does your char do 1d6 damage? Wouldn't it be 1d8-2? |
| Dalton Onestone01-25-05, 02:41 AM | Kwerrock vs. Lora (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5304273) is up. Helpful hint: don't do fights late at night; you'll come back to them in the morning and realize you've forgotten important things. Thanks! You did great! Just one little thing. :D :D :D :D :D I think you misstated Lora's expendables. It feels like she threw some alchemist's fire around (ouch), but you cited her for having spent a tanglefootbag instead. Actually, I bet Kwerrock could have deflected even the fire, and reduced the hit to splash damage, but who cares? Or maybe not; maybe it would have burst in his hand. I guess an opinion on that would actually be of interest for future reference, from whoever wishes to offer one -- does Deflect Arrows confer any defense against thrown special alchemical substances? |

| Pitlords01-25-05, 03:18 AM | Ah! Working on it now its halfway done! Since Living Gladius is still new, as is a precise deadline for submitting fights, and *mumble mumble handwave*, I think a bit of flexibility for assigning late penalties this week might be in order. Deadline for posting fights extended until noon today. That's in 3 hours, 42 minutes. Please get those fights in, people. |

| KerlanRayne01-25-05, 05:40 AM | @Jindl: WordPad :nonono: Get something with autosave. I'm not sure if Cellardweller's non-functioning link helps but Microsoft Word should be sufficient. The program I use to store all of my characters an other info is called Keynote (http://www.tranglos.com/free/keynote.html). In one file it organizes info into different branches and tabs. I have all the tactics my characters have used, character sheets for my PC's at each level, future plans for my PC's, and lots of reference info. I've turned off some of the fancy stuff like icons, but I HIGHLY recommend it. I find it very useful, check it out. I could even send you a stripped down version of my file as an example. KerlanRayne PS - It has autosave too. |

Hmm, I'm not too happy about the decision to fire from the center of the Entangle instead of trying to break free... but there was nothing about it in my tactics, so okay, pitlord decision. No biggie. Jindl, you sure pulled an upset there. :D |
| Jindl01-25-05, 08:21 AM | @Ash - Don't forget my friend, I've had lots of practice playing the druid. Kinda like how Cat has had lots of practice with the cleric. ;) I do have a couple of questions, not from the fight, but from Ashenai's tactics and Snarkhunter's comments. 1. Ashenai mentions that since Ex Nihilio is an aberration type, an animal would need to be trained in the attact trick twice in order to attack him (per the Handle Animal skill). Would the Defend trick still work to get the animal to retaliate against him? Could you push the animal to attack him if it didn't know the attack trick twice? Would the DC to push him be different if it knew the attack trick once as opposed to not at all? And finally, when a bag of tricks mentions that the animals summoned know all of the tricks in the handle animal skill, does that mean the summoned creatures know the attack trick twice? 2. If a mounted character uses a hide from animals effect, would a swarm of bats/rats still affect him (because they would position themselves on his mount, which is still visible)? I'm just curious to see what people think about these (relatively minor) issues. -Jindl |

| Snommelp01-25-05, 09:39 AM | I think you misstated Lora's expendables. It feels like she threw some alchemist's fire around (ouch), but you cited her for having spent a tanglefootbag instead. :shifty: no I didn't... you have no proof! Ah, the power of edit! IMHO, if Kwerrock had tried to deflect it the flimsy bag would have broken anyways. I'm no elder, though. While we're dissecting that fight, why does your char do 1d6 damage? Wouldn't it be 1d8-2 That's also a good point, which I didn't bring up because I was more worried about why Ala'andor had gone against tactics and character identity by getting into melee range in the first place. Sure, if Aurues had run up to him and started throwing hits left and right, I would have no argument, but instead Ala'andor walks right into him! This is the more defining point of the fight for me, not the damage. |
| One_Winged_Angel01-25-05, 09:47 AM | Yeah, a belated, bare-bones Rei vs Lia (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5306359) is up ... don't be surprised about the results... *Sigh* I dislike winning this way. A win is a win, but I still hate fighting 'bots.' There is no honor. Well, much better this way. I'm 2 for 2 (Though Cat is rather annoyed at the first win :D) and need to work on Keth. Now, how do we make him better... |

For all the others, we are talking about this fight: Flower (T'Var) vs. Shin'mor the Reveler (Sindorin): Ayatoshi |
| Ayatoshi01-25-05, 11:20 AM | @ T'Var and Pittbull: Thanks for running them I have pm'ed them to you  |
| Jindl01-25-05, 11:38 AM | @Ayatoshi, Ashenai, and Pitlords - Sorry about that mistake. I must have only counted one of the +5's that Rath was getting to his AC (for Dex and armor). The mistake in Rath's AC has been corrected. This resulted in a change of the fights outcome. Please take a look. @Ash - I would suggest buying a saddle and including some notes on when to heal and how Nachtvogel feels about provoking AoO's. I had to act conservatively without this information (not attempting to fight with warhorse, not using your consumable resources to heal, not provoking AoO's). Perhaps you would have wanted Nachtvogel to take more risks? @Ayatoshi - It may be a good idea for you to elaborate on your default tactics, especially regarding how to apply the many good feats that Rath has learned. -Jindl |

| Pittbull01-25-05, 12:40 PM | @All: Nobody wants to do the "Flower vs. Shin'mor"-fight? I won't be there to respond during the night so if anyone wants to have it. I send the Tactics to the Pitlord-account, that the volunteer can get it. If there is nobody, I will run it tomorrow. To make sure, that both, T'Var and Sindorin, will be able to make their charcters ready. |
| Sindorin01-25-05, 12:48 PM | For my part since I am not pitlording for a while I won't be able to run as many characters, thus Shin'mor does not need to be edited with such haste. I'm probably going to go back to two characters instead of four. four was too much :). |
| T'Var01-25-05, 03:08 PM | Jannelle Werabrook (Cellardweller) Hakatri Abendstern (Beldin) Forward your tactics to me, if you get them to me in time i will run it before pairings tomorrow |

| T'Var01-25-05, 09:02 PM | Kiyo vs Shivock is up |
| Sindorin01-25-05, 10:19 PM | Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could tweak Sokai to be able to stand a chance against a ranged opponent, such as his fight this week? I'm not really sure how to go about dealing with such a flaw... Then again, why would you want to help me anyway :D |
| Snommelp01-25-05, 11:35 PM | @ LLMadCow: If you are here, I really want to know the reasoning behind Ala'andor acting the way he did in the fight. It doesn't seem to make sense, no matter how I look at it. In light of the tactics I sent you, I don't see how moving into the central obstructions constitutes keeping an open line of sight on all sides. From a metagame standpoint, I don't understand why a high Int, low Str wizard with no melee weapons would rush his opponent. I'm willing to concede the second Sleep spell, since I admit that part of the tactics was poorly worded, but I cannot wrap my mind around what Ala'andor was doing in melee range. |
| Huan01-26-05, 12:00 AM | Expanded Rei vs Lia (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5306359) is up. I'm not sure why I wrote it the way I did (spur of the moment inspiration while I was Pitlording)... but now we know guns and motorcycle chases are dangerous. |
| OdinTheReaper01-26-05, 02:58 AM | @Sindorin - Have you tried increasing your AC? Using a potion (to help with arrows)? Moving in for the kill quicker and not ingaging in ranged combat with them? These are all just suggestions and things to think about. Mostly i would have to say it depends on the ranged fighter you are fighting and how they did in previous fights (what are their tactics, what items/weapons they have, etc.)? If you look carefully and think about it there is usually always a tactic for everything your opponent can do to possibly hinder your victory. Another good hint would be to write tactics explaining what to do for every kind of ranged attack/movement your opponent could use against you (usually this will not be that many things) that way you always have an answer/tactic/ or just a way out. If you need help with tactics or any long questions or things just pm me. These are just suggestions.....i can only show you the door....your the one who has to walk through it...**insert laughter for movie quote here**. :plotting: :teach: |
| SnarkHunter01-26-05, 03:36 AM | Getting one's FFAC high enough to survive an early assault from well made mounted ranged fighters is key in my humble opin. That or getting HP high enough to survive a few rounds of arrow storm. Hmmm now I'm tempted to make a fighter or ranger ranged build. Fighter would probably be more consistent but the favored enemy from the ranger could be pretty handy. Edit: Anyone remember where that list of played races in LG is right now? |
| Huan01-26-05, 03:47 AM | Expansion of Tara vs Zactor (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5301282) is up ... (I don't know ... I simply did not get any inspiration from that fight) |
| Pittbull01-26-05, 06:01 AM | The fight Flower vs. Shin'mor (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5315723&postcount=1212) is up. |
| Sindorin01-26-05, 08:50 AM | Thanks for running the fight, Pittbull. For future reference for both you and T'Var though, I think we are only allowed to bring one ally into the start of the match. I'm not asking for a rerun though because pairings are today. Good luck with the druid, T'Var. |

| Snommelp01-26-05, 05:24 PM | I have heard absolutely nothing from LLMadCow since he ran Ala'andor vs. Aureus, and the way he ran Ala'andor is still bothering me. Since LL apparently will not reply, can anybody else see a reason why he had Ala'andor rush into the central barriers? I can still only see it as a flagrant disregard for very clear instructions. And, LLMadCow, if you are even bothering to read this then I challenge you to explain yourself. Recall that, when Einzelgaenger ran Oz in a way that was not to your liking, I stood up for you and ran one of your fights because you feared that you would not be able to run it fairly. You said then that I had done you a favor. Is this how you repay that favor? By running Ala'andor as Einzelgaenger ran Oz? If nobody can give me a decent explanation, then I would like the Pitlords to remove Ala'andor's loss from the records. It is not fair to strip Aureus of his win, but it is equally unfair that Ala'andor should lose a fight where the only possible explanation for his actions is that he was possessed by the spirit of a fighter, and thought that his arrows were swords and his bow a shield. |
| Dalton Onestone02-04-05, 05:31 AM | http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5300310&postcount=1193 This is really late, but I have a question on Naerdeloth vs. Elishar at the link above. Elishar successfully cast Sleep on Naerdeloth, then unsuccessfully CdGed him with a crossbow. On the next turn Naerdeloth raged and killed him. It's not immediately clear from the writeup whether he stood up first before doing so. But shouldn't Elishar have taken a 5ft. step backwards after the failed CDG? In that case Naerdeloth couldn't have reached him the next round, and Elishar would have had one more shot to try to do him in. True, the rage would have taken Naerdeloth's HP up from 4 to 10, but with a Scorching Ray Elishar would still have had a good chance of killing him. |
