None An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it. Run into melee and kill. Otherwise fight ranged. Ikhain comes from the distant sultanate of Habari, more specifically from the eastern parts. He is the son of one of the Sultans concubines and therefore entitled to be called a prince. He is the seventh in the order of succession. Ikhain was given the name "Serpent Prince" when he slew his elder brother. He murdered his brother brutally just to get closer to the throne. That same day the sultan exiled Ikhain in order to save his life from the hatred of his other sons. The sultan had always loved Ikhain and wanted to spare his life. He believed that being exiled not only would spare Ikhains life, but also would wipe away the hatred and confusion in his heart. The sultan was wrong, for Ikhain swore an oath to return as the shores of Habari grew distant. He would claim the throne for himself - with the blood of his brothers and father in his hands! Ikhain's exile brought him to Gladius where he found the arena. His already superior combat skills would grow far beyond the level of his brothers. "One day the serpent shall strike and I shall claim my heritage!" Ikhain has recently grown stronger than he was before. Some people say that he drank the heartblood of his brother when he killed him and gained his lifepower. They are wrong. Ikhain stood alone in the desert, the blood of his brother staining his hands. That day he swore an oath to kill his way to the throne. He thought he was alone, but suddenly a tiger-like crature appeared which Ikhain recognized as a rakshasa. Otherwise he would've attacked it, but he knew of their great magical powers. The rakshasa offered him a pact with promises of great physical strength and an extremely long life span. In exchange he required Ikhain's soul, but only after his death. Ikhain accepted the pact with his recent oath in mind. The payment would come later. The pact was sealed on that place in his brothers blood. The rakshasa cast a dark conjuration on Ikhain in a long-forgotten foul ritual, giving him superior lifepower compared to the rest of his kin. Ikhain returned from the desert with one brother less. Starting: 3200 XP Earned: 2100 XP Remaining: 5300 XP Starting: 3000 gp Earned: 2262 gp Spent: 4073 gp Remaining: 1189 gp (Misc. | MitzaVolchenko01-20-07, 01:50 PM | Ikhain hears a crash down the hall in the EHTC living quarters. Upon investigation he finds Lady Indivara rearranging her furniture in a fit of pique. Sensing Ikhain, Indivara whirls to face him. "What are you looking at?" her imperious tone and the tendrils on lightning flickering about her muzzle give him pause. No idea why this is me instead of Iced, but I am game to roll with it. Indi is going to send you to fetch something for her and an appropriate enemy is going to get in your way ;) |
| Abyssal Stalker01-21-07, 10:16 AM | First of all, sorry for not posting before this. I was out of town. In addition to that, Cat posted me that the MQ is actually "illegal" due to new rules. My idea was to level Ikhain as fast as possible to hit ECL4, out of cycle. Now it looks like I have to complete a full cycle before I am able to participate on your campaign. (If you're still willing to run it and if you approve Ikhain) Apparently this is now a monster fight, not a MQ and you have to follow those guidelines. I really had an idea for this MQ that I posted to Iced more than a week ago. But looks like he hasn't had time for CoCo at the moment so that is why you are running this, I guess. I'll post you what I had in mind, and if there's still time, I'd hope you to check out Ikhain's story. Allthough this being a monster fight, it doesn't fit the story anymore. Personally, I don't understand why MQs were removed from ECL4. There's also a little problem with "fetching"... If Indi is full of herself, so is Ikhain. He's a prince, allthough an exiled one, and a servant's task is something he can't accept. Please, at least disguise it as something else :) |
| Abyssal Stalker01-21-07, 12:48 PM | "Someone doing a task suitable for a servant. What the hell is matter with everyone here? Why can't you have servants like every decent house has? Don't you have any better things to do than dragging furniture? Now please excuse me, I have some murdering to do." Ikhain turns to leave to find Eliza Moon. The woman was slippery. She had left her mansion and hadn't returned. But the company had ears everywhere and Ikhain had managed to get a clue of her whereabouts. The track was fresh... |
| MitzaVolchenko01-21-07, 12:55 PM | "Well?!" Indivara is looking like she might not care that attacking a fellow guildmember is poor manners. "I have heard about you, child of Habari. Prove your worthto me and perhaps we shall have something to discuss...something about home...something you could not possibly know and might be interested in..." her tone becomes all sweetness making Ikhain wary. "Fetch me the small sealed satchel with the scimitar and dragon's claw crossed on it that is in the basement near the wine racks,a nd we shall talk," Indi waves a claw in dismissal and turns away from him. Pride, logic, and curiosity war in his head. Ikhain gives a shrug and heads for the basement. On his way into the basement, Ikhain passes a servant who mutters "Watch out...Ketch and Fetch are in a foul mood today!" Yes, Caterane refused the MQ...I see no reason to kill the rp and point of fact if you prefer to switch this to full quest and run for a full 3 weeks, I am game. Indivara will be NPC used to kick off the campaign when it comes, so I am good with it. Either way I am sticking to seperate thread. For knowledge check, he knows that there is a rumor that a pair of large eggs were hatched and something raised from them to guard the wine cellar by the previous guildmaster. Large eggs=large monsters. |
| MitzaVolchenko01-21-07, 12:57 PM | For the sake of rp this continues intot he caverous storage areas of the EHTC's underground warehousing. The wine cellar remarkably resembles the arena. Remind me to smack Cat for corrections to something this late into the week. |
| Abyssal Stalker01-21-07, 01:11 PM | Switching to a full quest is also impossible, I think. That's probably illegal too... Go with the bow. Shoot anything that moves and take cover. If they fly, then they are hippogriffs and probably base me quickly. In that case tap tattoo of force screen, draw blades and slash them to death. If they are earthbound, move and shoot until based, then switch to TWF tactics, but don't use the force screen if the fight is almost over at that point. Ikhain enters with his bow ready to hit anything that moves. if he had to do a dog's task, he at least would not risk his life doing it. A dog's task. But it might be worth it, if the dragon's words could be trusted even in the slightest part... |
| MitzaVolchenko01-22-07, 09:13 PM | Ikhain wins initiative and starts bow in hand, square 4. (1d20+15+5=20) The hippogriffs start together square 1. He moves forward into what appears to be a sorting area and sights the pair of hippogriffs. He fires an arrow at the closer hippogriff (1d20=12+9-2(range)=19) hits for (1d8=6+2=8). (1d20=9+9=18) hits for (1d8=1+2=3) and moves behind the rock dropping his bow and drawing his sword as he goes. HG 2 cannot charge due to angle of attack, swoops in and attacks (1d20=20!, crit confirm 1d20=17+6=23-confirms) clawing Ikhain (2d4=4+8=12). HG2 Full attacks (claw 1d20=9+6=15, miss, claw 1d20=16+6=22, hit, bite 1d20=9+1=10, miss) slashing Ikhain for (1d4=4+4=8). Ikhain (2,37) 3/23 AC 19 HG1 (25,47) -2/25 AC 15 HG2 (3,37) -2/25 AC 15 Ikhain stands over the dying hippogriff and considers giving it mercy butthen spots one of the many deep gnomes that work for EHTC lurking behind a wine rack and gestures imperioursly for it to come and tend the downed beasts. Wiping his swords on the beast, he resheathes them and moves gingerly over to retrieve his bow before turning to look for the satchel. Lying on a low pedestal in a dusty corner, Ikhain finds the satchel glowing faintly. He briefly considers opening it, but decides it is better to take it upstairs to the dragon...after a change into a clean shirt. It wouldn't due to let the wretched creature know he'd been injured. RP can continue at its normal pace now...a few more posts should set the campaign seed growing ;) Check your TWF numbers and short swords...I think the numbers are off. TWF reduces penalty and ranger style reduces it further...unless your shortsword attacks on sheet are not for TWF...oh and the second sword looks off, but I am in a bit of a hurry, so I'll leave it to you to sort out on edit. |
| Abyssal Stalker01-23-07, 02:04 PM | Ikhain spends a couple of hours bathing, just to annoy the dragon. Then he marches to Lady Indivara with the satchel. He drops it in front of her and says nothing but: "Woof," with a grin on his face. I believe they are correct. Combat Style gives Ikhain Two-Weapon Fighting as long as he doesn't wear heavier than medium armor. He has the feat only via Combat Style. Taking the same feat twice wouldn't give him anything. Ikhain has TWF and his off-hand weapon is light, so the penalties are -2/-2. He has a BAB of +3 and Weapon Finesse, which allows him to use Dex instead of Str with light weapons (which short swords are) so that gives him +5. The swords are MW, so that's another +1. Total: -2+3+5+1=+7 with both hands. Ikhain gets +2 from STR to his weapon damage with his primary hand and half of that to his off-hand damage. So they are respectively 1d6+2 and 1d6+1. Masterwork adds only to attack rolls, not damage. |
| MitzaVolchenko01-23-07, 02:35 PM | Lady Indivara cocks her head and flicks her tongue out a few times, "I shall give you the benefit of presuming that you recognize your place in the scheme of things and are not showing impertinence or disrespect." Gently, Indivara lifts the satchel and hisses a command word at it before breaking the seal. Reaching a claw into the bag she withdraws what appears to be a flat riverbed stone. "Excellent! I feared it would not still be there!" Ikhain watches the little dragon cradle the common stone caressing it with her claws and lifting it to her face the way a child might a favorite doll. |
| Abyssal Stalker01-26-07, 04:41 AM | "By no means, oh great wyrm" Ikhain responds and bows way too deep to be taken seriously. Then he turns dead-serious: "You told me that we would have something to discuss." |
| MitzaVolchenko01-26-07, 04:08 PM | "We do indeed! That fact saves your life for such insolence." Indivara's eyes whirl with emotions. "How far are you willing to go? How much will you give for your past? How much will you risk for you future?" Lady Indivara grows still and rears back on her haunches, wings pinned, and looks squarely at Ikhain. |
| Abyssal Stalker01-28-07, 01:21 PM | "I have already gone way too far so that turning back would even be an option. My hands are red with the blood of my kin and only more blood can wash it away. Whatever it takes, I am ready!" Ikhain responds with a tense voice. A dangerous fire burns in his eyes. |
| MitzaVolchenko01-28-07, 04:24 PM | Indivara flicks her tail righting a low table and snatches up a velvet cushion which Ikhain notices is of Habari nomad style and fashioning. Looking around the room, he starts to realize that the entire chamber shows signs of Old Habari. "Sit. Be patient. Curb your rage. It will not serve you...not yet." Indivara settles herself on one side of the table and gestures him to the other with a negligent flick of a claw, still cradling the stone in her other claw. "Few know much about me, so be sure that it remains that way. I am from the far western stretches of the Habari Desert. My mother accepted the tribute of the tribes there and er...taxed...the Sultanate's caravans. For centuries the natural order was preserved," Indivara pauses to observe Ikhain closely. You know something of what came after, I am sure. Invasion. Betrayal. Plague. And of course, Death. The Riders of Habari were scattered, hunted, and most likely destroyed to the last." She lays the stone on the table snaking her head over it protectively, "Before the final fall of the proper way of things, they knew that the end was coming. They knew that it would take generations to mount a counteroffensive. They knew that it would be their legend that inspired it. And they entrusted the keeping of their secrets to the only beings they knew to be powerful and long-lived enough...dragons...my family to be precise." |
| Abyssal Stalker01-29-07, 07:13 AM | "The western border has always been like the wandering sands of the desert. I've seen them bury entire villages in an instant. And that is also the nature of the dogs that inhabit the Apterian Jungle. There has always been a conflict between the jungle and the sands." Ikhain looks carefully at the stone on the table. "Those secrets must hide a great power." |
