| Dracazar09-29-06, 12:14 PM | This is a thread for a Dracazar's experiment Player allowed to partecipate are Vathelokai (http://board1.wizards.com/member.php?u=376903) and SauroGrenom (http://boards1.wizards.com/member.php?u=321957) |
| Dracazar09-29-06, 12:15 PM | This challenge will not count as an Arena match (it should not be logged in your fight records), it is just experimental. Probably the fight will not resolve within a week but could need more than one. This run (and eventually other runs) will help me to acquire elements for a new 'magic item' that will help running fights between player with really small intervention by pitlord. The vision is to create an interface that will act like a chess-board that will be used by players to run their characters and the pitlord will become an arbiter that should resolve only potential rules issues. More info will follow... |
| Dracazar09-29-06, 12:16 PM | This fight will run in a not customary manner. You will read strange questions (with this color), you should reply, don't worry about. What we are builing is a case study for the project. Sometimes you will read also my comments not related to the fight (with this color), nevermind, I write those here to keep a track. The fight will be Psibeast vs Guillaume another thread-fight Vathe and Sauro are registered members of the system Vathe comes first and initialize a battle as described by the pairings (here we set the Map, Cavern) Sauro is advised of the fight and confirms his partecipation Vathe register Psibeast or pick up it from his registered characters, same for Sauro |
| Dracazar09-29-06, 12:42 PM | Only what is indispensable... Size: To put the right pin on the map Initiative: To roll the starting initiative Hide: To roll hide checks Listen: To auto-roll listen checks MoveSilently: To auto-roll the move silently checks Spot: To roll the spot checks Size: M Initiative: +2 Hide: +4 Listen: +2 MoveSilent: +2 Spot: +2 Size: D Initiative: +2 Hide: +14 Listen: +4 MoveSilent: +4 Spot: +4 Size: L Initiative: +1 Hide: +? | Dracazar09-29-06, 12:46 PM | Vathe how many creatures (including Psibeast) you would start with? With "creatures" I mean everything I should roll an initiative According to Psibeast's prefight section, Vathe replies with: 3 Same question to Sauro about Guillaume, reply is: 1 Vathe should register (or pick up from his registry) more creatures, and he does so (I update Records above). Vathe please roll 1d4: 3 (The dice could also be rolled by Vathe with a button or a drag) Vathe has to place his pins on the map, position 3 is south-west (1=NE 2=SE 3=SW 4=NW) Vathe uses something similar to the mapper and setup starting positions (We need a mapper that allow pin over pin) He produce something like this: http://www.hwx.it/coco/coco.php;v=1;map=cavern;a=Psib,M,4,4,Psi beast;c=Midd,D,4,4,Middles;d=Righ,L,4,4, Righty After this, he roll initiave and we got: Psibeast 1d20+2=5 Middles 1d20+2=4 Righty 1d20+1=14 Vathe has nothing more to do on Round 0, so he close his round and now it is Sauro's time Sauro comes and rolls 1d3: 3 Skipping Vathe's square it means that he has north-west square Sauro uses the mapper and setup his pin, here is his image: http://www.hwx.it/coco/coco.php;v=1;map=cavern;b=Guil,M,4,27,Gu illaume He rolls the initiative, we have: Guillaume 1d20+3=15 Sauro has nothing moreto do on Round 0, so he close his round and now it is new Round following Initiative Guillaume 15 Righty 14 Psibeast 5 Middles 4 Keep in mind that on the real project Sauro will not see Vathe's creatures and Vathe will not see Sauro' creatures. They will have each one their personal map on their monitor. Now we starts rounds... |
| Vathelokai09-29-06, 12:50 PM | 3 You mean like that? Responding in the thread? *EDIT* Ah, okay. I see init has been rolled for me. Not yet for Sauro. |
| Dracazar10-01-06, 01:05 PM | Now we start the rounds In this case it is Guillaume to act first, so next post should be by Sauro I need you write your round in a special format, I'll give you the skeleton, keep in mind that the skeleton could change by the way, this is the reason we call this an experiment This is actual schema: Beginning of Round X Speed: (in feet, example 30') AC: (example 18) HP: (example 20) Action N.1 Type: <Full|Standard|Move|MoveEq|Free|None> ... Description: (example: Attack with Rapier) Action N.2 and so on End of Round X Speed: AC: HP: About Actions Additional fields depends on Action Type We will define them by the way Depending on your action I'll ask you to fill some fields Example Action N.1 Type: Move From: X1,Y1,Z1 To: X2,Y2,Z2 Image: (you paste the image got by the mapper) Description: Seeking Example Action N.2 Type: MoveEq Description: Draw scroll of Magic Armor Example Action N.1 Type: Standard Subtype: Spellcasting Description: Cast Mage Armor from memory Flavor: The mage uses sow some ash on his shoulders This will seem boring, don't worry about, It will be very easy to do with the right interface, it is only during this phase that we have extra work to do. Now it is Sauro turn, please give me your round following above instructions. Feel free to improve the look. |
| SauroGrenom10-01-06, 01:31 PM | Beginning of Round 1 Speed: 30' AC: 17 HP: 17 Action N.1 Type: Move From: 4,27 To: 9,25 Description: Move Draw Bow on the way. Action N.2 Type: Standard Description: Ready action to fire bow if I get LOS on my opponent. Preferably with a clear shot. End of Round 1 Speed: 30' AC:17 HP:17 I didn't look at this character very closely, but I just noticed that it's feats are illegal. Since this fight is not on the record, I'll ignore that for now. I just want to let you all know that up front. |
| Vathelokai10-01-06, 06:28 PM | Beginning of Round 1 Psibeast Location: <4,4> Speed: 30 <Mounted on Righty> AC: 12 HP: 6 Righty Location: <4,4> Speed: 60 AC: 14 HP: 22 Middles Location: <4,4> Speed: 30, climb 20 <Mounted on Psibeast> AC: 16 HP: 3 Actions Psibeast Action N.1 Type: <Standard> Action: Manifest SubAction: Force Screen <Expend 1 pp> Description: Manifest Force Screen Action N.2 Type <Free> Action: Concentration SubAction: Hide Display <+11 vs. DC 16> Description: Hide Auditory Display Action N.3 Type: <Move> Action: Listen <+4> Description: Active Listen for Opponents Righty Action N.1 Type: <Full> Action: Delay Description: Stand in place - Await instruction Middles Action N.1 Type: <Move> Action: Listen <+4> Description: Active Listen for Opponents Action N.2 Type: <Move> Action: Listen <+4> Description: Active Listen for Opponents End of Round 1 Psibeast Location: <4,4> Speed: 30 <Mounted on Righty> AC: 12 HP: 6 Righty Location: <4,4> Speed: 60 AC: 14 HP: 22 Middles Location: <4,4> Speed: 30, climb 20 <Mounted on Psibeast> AC: 16 HP: 3 Played around with some things. Added Location to the Begining/End of round Summery. When characters are mounted, should their speed be 0, their normal speed, or the mounts speed? |
| Dracazar10-02-06, 12:12 PM | Ok, let's view... This is what happens on Sauro's side He plays with his Interface (we have to give a name to the project...) Guillaume He declares his paramaters for the beginning of round 1 He decides to do a move action (his action n.1) so he move his pin on the map, this is what he sees: http://www.hwx.it/coco/coco.php;v=1;map=cavern;a=Guil,M,4,27,6, 25,9,25,Guillaume (You must use a pin for every direction change) He declared a speed of 30' and moved 30' (the system could verify that) He moved no more than his movement speed, so he would not have move silently penalty Now come his action n.2, a Ready action, this is one of the obstacle to overcome for the project (hints for the name are welcome) The problem is that I must teach to system every possible Ready trigger, so we must define all of them The LoS trigger is an obvious one, and I'm still working on it, so we can handle it (We have to do a finite list of possible triggers) He declares his paramenter for the end of round 1 Let's say that you can skip this is the parameters are all the same of the beginning of the round At the end of the round the system rolls a move silently roll (1d20+2=15) (Perhaps it should be rolled just after the move action and not at the end of the round but this could be a problem if the player dicedes to do 2 separate move actions...) Remember that Sauro doesn't see Psibeast on his map and Vathe doesn't see Guillaume on his map So, within this experiment, you must do 'roleplay' and simulate that you don't know foe's strategy, it is important. Sauro after this actions has nothing more to do and "closes" his round n.1 Now the system decrements his initiative counter looking for next active creature It comes to Righty Declare his paramaters for the beginning of round 1 Technically he does no action, flavor text could be "Await instruction" Vathe closes Righty's round n.1 Following the initiative order it is now Psibeast turn He declares his paramaters for the beginning of round 1 (he must declare also PP) He decides to manifest (same as spellcasting), it is a standard action (Keep attention here, spellcasting/manifesting could be a ready trigger) When a creature decides to cast, the system ask if there is Verbal component (with a checkbox) If there is Verbal component then the system should roll a reactive listen check for other creatures (Have to check if even Somatic and Material components should be tracked) In this case we have a psion that could suppress auditory so to determine the above issue Vathe should roll a dice Alongside this ongoing action he decides to roll a dice (You could always roll a dice if you give a proper description) He roll 1d20+11=23 (rolls are tracked within the CoCo dice roller) In this way he is allowed to don't declare the verbal component, no reactive listen for opposing creatures Now he decides to do a move equivalent action (We discriminate Move and MoveEquivalent because the system will roll MoveSilently check only with Move actions) The action is an active listen check, this type of check must be scripted inside the system He rolls 1d20+4=5, the DC is know only to the system (actually it is 15, Guillaume move silenty check) The system informs Psibeast that he hears nothing Psibeast should declare is end-of-round because something is change, the power points. Vathe closes Psibeast's round n.1 Now it is Middles turn He declares his paramaters for the beginning of round 1 He does a MoveEquivalent action, the listen action, this action is scripted He rolls 1d20+4=15, adding the distance modifier the result is still no sound heared As second action he does another MoveEquivalent action (is this allowed?) He rolls 1d20+4=16, again no sound heared Vathe closes Middles's round n.1 Now the system has no more creatures to serve for round 1 so it do some maintenance and then proceeds to round n.2 Updated Records post. We should add to the Start/End round parameters also: Spell Levels (SL) where applicable Power Points (PP) where applicable and also we should have a line for senses: Hide, Listen, MoveSilently, Spot because this parameters could change during the fight As said, write this at the beginning of the round and write again on the end of the round only if they changed. Sorry if it took some time to wait my reply but I'm a bit overbusy here in my office, but I'll keep scheduling some time for CoCo. Please if you notice errors feel free to point them. Now, if all is ok, let's go on round 2, it is Guillame's turn.. |
| SauroGrenom10-02-06, 03:28 PM | Beginning of Round 2 Speed: 30' AC: 17 HP: 17 Action N.1 Type: Move From: 9,25 To: 11,21 Description: Move Action N.2 Type: Standard Description: Ready action to fire bow if I get clear shot on my opponent (no cover). End of Round 1 Speed: 30' AC:17 HP:17 Just for the record, I think it should also be possible to have readied actions trigger on having an open shot. IE not when LOS is achieved, but wait just a moment more to attack when your foe moves out into the open without cover. |
| Vathelokai10-03-06, 07:01 AM | Beginning of Round 2 Psibeast Location: <4,4> <Mounted on Righty> Speed: 30 AC: 12 HP: 6 PP: 3 Righty Location: <4,4> Speed: 60 AC: 14 HP: 22 Middles Location: <4,4> <Mounted on Psibeast> Speed: 30, climb 20 AC: 16 HP: 3 Actions Psibeast Action N.1 Type: <Standard> Action: Manifest SubAction: Vigor <Expend 2 pp> Description: Manifest Augmented Vigor (10 temp hp) Action N.2 Type <Free> Action: Concentration SubAction: Hide Display <+11 vs. DC 16> Description: Hide Material and Scent Display Action N.3 Type: <MoveEq> Action: Listen <+4> Description: Active Listen for Opponents Righty Action N.1 Type: <Full> Action: Delay Description: Stand in place - Await instruction Middles Action N.1 Type: <MoveEq> Action: Listen <+4> Description: Active Listen for Opponents Action N.2 Type: <MoveEq> Action: Listen <+4> Description: Active Listen for Opponents End of Round 2 Psibeast Location: <4,4> <Mounted on Righty> Speed: 30 AC: 12+4 HP: 6+10 PP: 1 Righty Location: <4,4> Speed: 60 AC: 14 HP: 22 Middles Location: <4,4> <Mounted on Psibeast> Speed: 30, climb 20 AC: 16 HP: 3 Image Image from my end remains as... http://www.hwx.it/coco/coco.php;v=1;map=cavern;a=Psib,M,4,4,Psi beast;c=Midd,D,4,4,Middles;d=Righ,L,4,4, Righty I would argue that delay is not a 'non action'. It changes your initiative to N-1 (or maybe N-.1), where N is the round you choose to stop delaying. It seems that between the various initiative changing actions (ready, delay) there would be some sort of 'interupt your opponent' process. I know of no rule against making two active listen checks in a round. |
