Let's see how it works out. Xanadu, you have the other team fight. If you have any problems, please ask me. For all involved players, please send me tactics as I don't have the time to run a seperate thread fight. I can't speak for Xanadu but I'd like to see the other version (seperate thread team fight) too. Random monster fights are pretty easy: I roll on DMG,p79 in the league one level higher than the player is in and the gladiator fights against that monster. I will roll that later. Pitlords use the equipment mentioned in its entry under treasure. Ok, I think that's it for now EDIT: Random monster fight results: The Ripper (Xanadu) vs (1d3+1) = 2 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=104516) Minor Xorns (84 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=104492)) Aeiou (Kaigan) vs (92 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=104494)), (9 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=104496)), (93 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=104500)), (1d4+1) = 3 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=104509) Vampire Spawns (79 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=104503)) |

| Salrantol06-15-05, 07:07 PM | I asked this last week with no response. Are there exits to the arena, such that if you could Control Body (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicPowersAtoC.html#control-body) against your opponent, you could force them to exit and remain outside the arena for 10 rounds and, thus, lose? |
| Zerone06-15-05, 07:27 PM | Nothing against Iced or the other combatants, but I don't think that is fair to be assigned to a team battle. If people want a team battle they should request/ask for one. This is unfair and I would have different equipment for a team battle, plus discussing a team strategy is not something I was preparing for. If I was going to ‘team battle’ I would have a teammate and plan already in the works. On a role-playing level, why is my character allied with a Chaotic Evil character? Granted, Saya has no documented ‘history’ as of yet, but Chaotic Evil is the extreme of both, as Lawful Good would also be… This makes no sense. I can honestly say that I do not want to take part in this with no preparation, current equipment, etc... @ Huan: Jabba's Dancers: Oola & Greeta Greedo The Green Hornet Green Goblin |
| Cerebus1306-15-05, 07:30 PM | Oooo, team fights...should be fun. @Caterane Since we are sending in tactics before the battle begins, can we collaborate with our fellow gladiator? Or would you rather we plan without speaking to each other? @Salrantol The map FAQ says that the arena is shaped like a cylinder and that the walls are at least 20' feet thick...no mention of any exits. |
| Iced06-15-05, 07:31 PM | @ Zerone - None taken  However I do like the whole team battle thing, maybe not so much with this pairing (no offense Zerone ;) ) but the idea is good. |
| King Uther06-15-05, 09:03 PM | You know, the funny thing is I'd do it without the credits. This place has a lot of potential, and I enjoy putting time into it and making it more real for all involved. Hopefully it will only grow. By the way, has anyone in the history of DnD played a were-camel? The rules for it lie in creating a lycanthrope, and for 3 hit dice and a +2 LA, you get a +8str +6Dex +6con and scent. But you have to look goofy. |

| King Uther06-15-05, 09:29 PM | Were-crocodile is almost just as good. Same hit dice, except 4 less Dex, +2 more Con and you can grapple with your bite attack. |
| darkpoet198706-15-05, 11:18 PM | Tactics for Joseph Rayne are sent. I almost inflicted our ranger's camel with lycanthropy, but our party killed and ate it..... Our ranger was slightly upset, but I guess even hardened adventurers need to eat. |

Camel is not a qualifying animal form (you must be a carnivore/omnivore). I've got a were-deinonychus planned, but first I've got to get some more credits (since I just spent about 26 on creating a ghost). @Huan- Well off: -Yoshi -Godzilla -Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Hamilton, Jackson, Grant, Franklin ($1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100) Not so well off: -Cyan Bloodbane (Dragonlance) |

| Jindl06-16-05, 12:54 AM | Pitlords use the equipment mentioned in its entry under treasure. Please explain. The entry for a vampire spawn says "Treasure: Standard". | xanadu06-16-05, 01:14 AM | I am willing to run a sperate fight thread for the team battle, but concerned parties need to be timely in telling me what their actions are. I will PM the pitlords and make the necessary arrangements. |
| Iced06-16-05, 01:34 AM | Waiting on Xanadu's tactics, info sent by PM. |
| Sindorin06-16-05, 02:04 AM | How come both Sasha and Gurvix's sheets say they won? Someone lost, right? |
| The Jive Machine06-16-05, 02:10 AM | Tactics sent for Ammenyennon. |
| Sindorin06-16-05, 02:38 AM | I am willing to run a sperate fight thread for the team battle, but concerned parties need to be timely in telling me what their actions are. I will PM the pitlords and make the necessary arrangements. I would say go for this, but it would be mostly you posting along with the other team. Sasha and Heindal are rather sneaky characters. It would be too easy for Saya and Gurvix to metagame. Also, opening a seperate thread is like giving us a free quest - pitlords may decide to charge all of us a credit, and I don't really have any to spare. It shouldn't be a problem though. If you do decide on the seperate thread, I will have plenty of time this weekend to keep up posting, and will offer to help keep up Heindal if SoulLord is not present. We're discussing currently over PM what we should do. I can't really speak for Zerone and Iced on their availability though. Where do we start? Do we start in the same box as our teammate? If in a different box, will we know which box is our teammate's? A seperate thread might also be useful to add a roleplay reason for why Sasha and Heindal team up against Gurvix and Saya. Is the 1/3 rule still present in a team battle? |
| Luni06-16-05, 03:09 AM | @Bgt: tactics for Talari sent. @Maverick knight: Still working on Ariel's tactics. |
| Malither7606-16-05, 03:14 AM | Hey Cat, are you just going to send me tactics for the HippoGriff or do you want a new thread? |
| Caterane06-16-05, 04:37 AM | Please explain. The entry for a vampire spawn says "Treasure: Standard". What equipment would it have? Sorry, I didn't explain that. DMG,p127 says how much treasure an NPC has. Since this is a single encouter, the CR is the way to go. You also have to check the entry in the MM. The Vampire Spawns have "Standard" treasure which means you use 3300 gp worth of treasure for each Vampire Spawn. Double standard would have been 6600 gp. You can distribute the treasure as you see fit but the Vampire Spawns are also Gladiators and won't buy anything useless with it. They'd also not spend everything on a big one-shot item. I asked this last week with no response. Are there exits to the arena, such that if you could Control Body against your opponent, you could force them to exit and remain outside the arena for 10 rounds and, thus, lose? You lose after 10 rounds because you are actively delaying the fight. If you teleport your opponoment out, it is again you who delays the fight. Not your opponoment but you would lose. Nothing against Iced or the other combatants, but I don't think that is fair to be assigned to a team battle. If people want a team battle they should request/ask for one. See Tavern for my answer. @Caterane Since we are sending in tactics before the battle begins, can we collaborate with our fellow gladiator? Or would you rather we plan without speaking to each other? Of course you can and you're advised to do so. Hey Cat, are you just going to send me tactics for the HippoGriff or do you want a new thread? There's really no need for that because it will be a very boring fight. I'll send you tactics later today. Also, opening a seperate thread is like giving us a free quest - pitlords may decide to charge all of us a credit, and I don't really have any to spare. It's an arena fight and as such doesn't cost a credit. Basically you can even open a new thread for a 1v1 arena fight if all participants are willing. Where do we start? Do we start in the same box as our teammate? If in a different box, will we know which box is our teammate's? It will be rolled randomly and team mates can even end up in the same box although never in the same box with an opponoment. Team mates do know where their ally starts. How come both Sasha and Gurvix's sheets say they won? Someone lost, right? Per outcome on the fights thread, Sasha won and Gurvix lost. Gurvix needs to change this. |
| Caterane06-16-05, 07:09 AM | Tactics for Indri and Uhme sent. |
| bgt06-16-05, 08:06 AM | Tactics recived, fight will be up tonight, tomorrow, or Saturday, depending on how drained I am from final exams. (Bank on tonight, the only exams I have today are study hall and science :D) |
| Zerone06-16-05, 10:40 AM | I'd be up for a separate thread for the 2 on 2 fight, but since I do not want any part of it... what does that have to do with how good my build is? My tactics are? I am not going to attempt to 'rule' over some one's character just so that I won't feel bad if my character loses. It is not fair to any character nor is it CoCo-ish to have to depend on another character unless it is desired (asked for). I know that this makes me sound like school girl with a skinned, but it is unfair to my character and ‘its’ representation a gladiator. I am against this and want no part in something which I cannot choose. I can choose everything about my character from weapons/spells to whether or not they have bad breath. So, why not assign random weapon and spell limitations to fights also? They were a big part of the ancient tradition of gladiatorial combat. No spells this battle and you can only use leather armor and Polearms? Only spells with Necro and Healing as part of them and only ranged, non-piercing weapons. Fight with only one arm, as the other is tide behind your back… It would be no different. *•. Z |
| SoulLord06-16-05, 10:48 AM | I dont think the separate thread is the best for me. Since i'm mostly away from the computer on weekends. the only time I could do it by pm's would be today or tomorrow after 8:00 pm -6gmt. so I think sending tactics is the best choice for the time being. as for it being unfair. perhaps it should have been discussed before; as it has been in the rules for quite some time. Maybe for the next battle you can add a please no team fights for me! somewhere in your character sheet. It would be up to the pitlords to consider it. |
| Iced06-16-05, 10:51 AM | but then i couldn't use two bastard swords... :weep: Clerics in standard DnD arn't often on their own, they usually end up in a support role in the adventuring group anyways. Part of how good your character is depends on how good he/she is when working with allies. I like the team battle concept! Hey Gurvix can hold his own as long as your character keeps him from being caught in a sleep spell. Lets try the buddy system-I get sleepy you wake Gurvix, you get sleepy Gurvix wakes you and makes mincemeat out of the overzealous member of the other team that tried to cast sleep at you... We got a good chance, especially if I can get either one into melee. If one of their characters goes down they're through, if one of ours does we still have a chance at victory. At least my veiws... |
| SoulLord06-16-05, 11:04 AM | *takes note* <i>Coup de grace after sleep</i> |
| Caterane06-16-05, 12:30 PM | I'd be up for a separate thread for the 2 on 2 fight, but since I do not want any part of it... what does that have to do with how good my build is? My tactics are? I am not going to attempt to 'rule' over some one's character just so that I won't feel bad if my character loses. Fight with only one arm, as the other is tide behind your back… It would be no different. *•. Z Ok ok, I got it! It is completely unfair of me to do such a thing! Team fight 1 has been dissolved because of utter unfairness and violation against coco-ish behaviour from my side. Here's the much fairer pairings: Gurvix (Iced) vs Battle Maiden Saya (Zerone): Xanadu Sasha (Sindorin) and Heindal the Big (SoulLord): Xanadu The other team fight stands as will all future ones, and no amount of :weep:-posts will change that. :thumbsdow |
| King Uther06-16-05, 12:41 PM | I don't think it's unfair to have team fights. I think it spices up arena competition quite nicely. Granted chosen teams fit well in story, but random teams can both create character relationships as well as enemies. I think it's all in the spirit of fun anyways. |
| Luni06-16-05, 12:43 PM | @Maverick Knight: Tactics for Ariel sent. @my Gladiators: I sent you your starting locations, but no tactics received yet. Which is ok of course. @Caterane: I think team fights add some spice to the arena. I can understand where Zerone is coming from though. |
| SoulLord06-16-05, 01:29 PM | @Caterane: I abide by your desicion, as a note i wouldnt mind being paired for a team fight next week either at random or if credit free by chosing my partner. @xanadu: Tactics for heindal vs sara sent. 'just call me halflingnator searching for sara' |
| King Uther06-16-05, 01:37 PM | @ Malither76 Tactics for Sinnoch have been sent via PM. |
| Caterane06-16-05, 01:42 PM | Team fights will of course stay a part of the CoCo and they add a lot to the board. I just couldn't hear it anymore. Tactics for Ixenthor and Mer-Man sent. @my Team-PCs: Please send me your tactics asap as I want to do it properly and most of my free time is friday-sunday. |
| xanadu06-16-05, 01:49 PM | I dont know, I really like the idea of team matches. Zerone, I think the whole point of them is that you *dont* get to choose your ally and *dont* know what they'll do or what tactics they will emply. This is just like real life. At work, you don't know which schlop you'll be assigned to work with on a project. In biology class, your lab partner maybe determined by alphabeticall order. On a team, you are just thrown in with teammates who, like you, have no control over the situation. In each of these cases, you must adapt and anticipate because you aren't in control over what your partner will do. In real D & D, you have no control over what build your friend will play or how he'll play it. I'd argue the team matcups are *more* indicative of how good a build is because it tests the flexibility aspect...the one Vs. one fights are so artificial. Really, how often in real D & D does one get 10 rounds to buff? Now if you sit there buffing away, your partner may get double teamed...adapt to an unexpected situation - can your character pull it off? Cat, I'd encourage more of these, not less. Consider my characters always active  |
| King Uther06-16-05, 01:54 PM | I agree. Any of my characters will team fight. In fact, I'd prefer team fighting. It diminishes one-shot killers(to a degree), and every build will have strengths and weaknesses that will add flavor to the fight. |
| Sindorin06-16-05, 01:59 PM | Aw man, I was actually looking forward to that fight - Heindal and Sasha would have worked well together, but instead now they get to kill each other. But I understand that some builds are in a way made to work alone. @ all: If for some reason you dislike the possibility of being paired with a random person against two other people, there is one solution that you can do to bring an end to all of this - pitlord fights! |
| Caterane06-16-05, 02:17 PM | Team fights have nothing to do with a lack of pitlords. Only those with <two> fights got assigned a 2v2 team fight, just like two 1v1 fights. A 3v3 team fight would require someone to have <three> or <max>. |
| Malither7606-16-05, 02:39 PM | I too love this idea, and I am now glad it is being used, Gareth would love to crussh some heads in there with a buddy, Shadow may step into the arena one day but there are so many people to kill and so little time to do it. |
| Sindorin06-16-05, 02:57 PM | Tactics for Ixenthor received, Tactics for Lance not yet been received. Tactics for Sasha have been sent to xanadu. I am working on tactics for Sokai. |
| Rim-Soulfang06-16-05, 03:31 PM | Tactics for Mugen (Meek Head) recieved. Tactics for Brogan (bgt) recieved. Will run the fight early tomorrow, i don't have time right now. |

| Caterane06-16-05, 03:53 PM | Is this equipment made public to the gladiator before he writes his tactics? Yes, if there's time. If not, then not and in this case have the Vampire behave like he doesn't know Aeiou's equipment either. |
| Jindl06-16-05, 03:58 PM | Also, I assume all 3 spawn appear in the same starting box? |
| Caterane06-16-05, 04:34 PM | Also, I assume all 3 spawn appear in the same starting box? For simplicity's sake, yes. |
| xanadu06-16-05, 04:52 PM | All pitlords needing tactics from my gladiators should have received them. Iced, Soullord, & Sindorin I have received your tactics. |
| Jindl06-16-05, 05:09 PM | Since vampire spawn (and their equipment) do not appear on the roster, I have gone ahead and made the post for Aeluath Dryearraheal (Kaigan) vs random monster [3 vampire spawns]: Jindl. The stats for each opponent, including equipment, is listed for Kaigan to use when writing tactics. I'll post here again on this thread after the weekend to notify everyone when the fight is complete. -Jindl |
| Malither7606-16-05, 05:36 PM | wow Aeluath is going to have a tuff fight there, these are arena fights though right, so you don't actually die? or how does this work, is this too random or do we ask for this type of fight and pay a credit or what. |
| Jindl06-16-05, 05:42 PM | wow Aeluath is going to have a tuff fight there, these are arena fights though right, so you don't actually die? or how does this work, is this too random or do we ask for this type of fight and pay a credit or what. Its an arena fight, within the Nimbus (which also cures level drain!). I tried to make sure that I wasn't preparing for a specific opponent in buying their equipment (for example, they bought a cloak of resistance even though Aeuluath has very few attacks that require saves). I also selected their alignment (LE) before I even realized that Aeulauth only had potions: protection from alignment for law and evil. I bought thier equipment with an emphasis on enhancing their abilities and strategies, as opposed to defending against a specific opponent's abilities. I don't think that these monsters are going to be a pushover, like some of the miniquests are. So, good luck to Kaigan, because the vampire spawn won't be wearing kiddie gloves. -Jindl |
| SoulLord06-16-05, 05:59 PM | Maybe all those monsters can be saved for posterity for other people to use? it would be much easier to adjust than to create from scratch |

| Pittbull06-17-05, 10:23 AM | @Cat: There have been some difficulties in our tactic, I resent it to Salrantol and he'll forward it to you, I hope it'll be in time. If you have any questions, contact us. Thanks a lot. EDIT: Oh, yeah, tactics received from Cat and Sindorin, that'll be an interesting fight! Expect it on monday! |
| LLMadCow06-17-05, 11:00 AM | I will be sending out tactics late tonight. Late tonight. Sorry for the delay. I have printed out characters and have time to develope some sort of plan during the day on breaks.... LL |
| Sunwolf06-17-05, 01:26 PM | @Rim-Soulfang Tactics for Brilf sent by PM |
| King Uther06-17-05, 05:18 PM | @ Malither There are a few errors on Sinnoch's sheet noted in the violations thread. When I made him I had some ideas, then changed them, then changed them again. Clearly a ittle proofreading should have been in order. Under the circumstances, I changed one or two things as noted in the PM I sent you. |
| bgt06-17-05, 05:42 PM | Talari vs Enoch is up. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6471123&postcount=21) This is the first time I've seen someone get their butt kicked almost entirely by hope alone... |
| xanadu06-17-05, 05:55 PM | bgt - Regarding your end of fight comment, I used to think the same thing that neutral creatures bypass pro evil...this is not the case, only diametrically opposed alignments are immune. Thus a celestial hippogriff will bypass a protection from evil, but not a neutral one. In sum protection from anything really puts the screw on druids. |
| Pitlords06-17-05, 06:30 PM | @Bgt: Xanadu is right; that should be corrected. Please note that the Protection effect ends when the warded creature attacks the summoned one. But what I wanted to say is that your fight has a very nice layout! Online roller, all rolls linked, colored, very nice! |
| Huan06-17-05, 06:31 PM | @Caterane Tactics for Mer-Man recieved, thank you. @Kaigan Tactics for Rook sent. Have not received tactics for Rayos. |
| SoulLord06-17-05, 06:39 PM | Gasp I had never noticed this myself.... from the srd prot from evil Third, the spell prevents bodily contact by summoned creatures. This causes the natural weapon attacks of such creatures to fail and the creatures to recoil if such attacks require touching the warded creature. Good summoned creatures are immune to this effect. The protection against contact by summoned creatures ends if the warded creature makes an attack against or tries to force the barrier against the blocked creature. Spell resistance can allow a creature to overcome this protection and touch the warded creature. |
| Luni06-17-05, 06:52 PM | @Cerebus13: Tactics received for Greevus. @Kaigan: Still waiting for tactics for Coralis. (week 2) @bgt: Nice fight layout. And no, I didn't no Hippogriff of Prophet Eating was called Hope. I just liked the name. Edit:After going through the fight I noticed a couple of mistakes. Gryphos drank Prot. From law potion, not evil as noted in your recap. 2nd: His first touch attack on round 3 would of hit Gryphos.Touch AC 14 + 2 deflection - 2 Diving (charge). His Critical on Round 4, would of been a normal hit. 3rd: Also, produce flame takes away 10 rounds per attack. |
| Salrantol06-17-05, 07:34 PM | Please note that the Protection effect ends when the warded creature attacks the summoned one. Yes, but if the warded creature's tactics say to cast hold person on the druid that summoned the creature (because I can see her), then I should be doing that rather than attacking a creature that can't touch me. |
| Caterane06-17-05, 08:05 PM | Yes, but if the warded creature's tactics say to cast hold person on the druid that summoned the creature (because I can see her), then I should be doing that rather than attacking a creature that can't touch me. Yes, that's what I wanted to imply by pointing that out |
| xanadu06-17-05, 08:07 PM | OK, Sasha vs. Heindal (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6472171) is up. I may be a few weeks behind the new trends, but I'd have to say the synesthete tactic they both employed is rather clever...a bit too clever IMHO. Does it work in the manner in which they and I believe? |
| Jindl06-17-05, 08:15 PM | OK, Sasha vs. Nope. They still have to pinpoint with a listen check in order to locate their opponent. It does, however, grant a +6 bonus on listen checks, and allow them to operate normally while deafened. -Jindl |
| Salrantol06-17-05, 08:22 PM | @Caterane: Tactics for Barak Brigandslayer and Hagrid II sent. Hopefully they're comprehensible. |
| xanadu06-17-05, 08:52 PM | Nope. They still have to pinpoint with a listen check in order to locate their opponent. It does, however, grant a +6 bonus on listen checks, and allow them to operate normally while deafened. -Jindl I dont see how this squares with the description in the SRD. You can also use this power to see sound if you are deafened, or hear light if you are blinded, thus removing all penalties associated with either condition (though you gain no bonuses for using the power in this way if you are not deafened or blinded). When seeing, one does not need to specifically pinpoint; my spot check needs to simply beat your hide. If one is seeing sound, how is this any different? |
| SoulLord06-17-05, 09:16 PM | Thats the way I thought it worked as well. it was interesting since we had exchanged tactics previously so we both knew more or less what to expect from the other. I imagine them drinking in a bar planning for the fight ahead when someone comes over and tells " hey didn't you hear the fight was changed now you are fighting each other" both: "oh great just after I told him all my secrets" Still I Look forward to being paired with sasha in the future :) |
| Sindorin06-17-05, 09:31 PM | Poo. Oh well. I blundered when I forgot to try to disrupt casting or snipe at whatever scroll he was holding... |
| Sindorin06-17-05, 09:35 PM | One thing I do notice is that Scorching Ray did not allow Sasha a Reflex Save for half damage twice - and it is a scroll, meaning the DC isn't very high. Edit - i'm an idiot and thought it allowed a save. |
| Huan06-17-05, 09:44 PM | @Kaigan Tactics for Rayos received, thank you. |
| Luni06-17-05, 10:21 PM | @Kaigan: Tactics received. I will run the fight either Saturday or Sunday morning. |
| Sindorin06-18-05, 05:58 AM | Tactics have not yet been received for Lance. Please get them in soon. |
| Cerebus1306-18-05, 12:58 PM | Joseph vs Zar (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6476406&postcount=23) is up. Check it over and let me know if there are any mistakes. |
| Luni06-18-05, 03:16 PM | Greevus vs Coralias is up here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6477409&postcount=25) There probably is a mistake in the end... |
| Cerebus1306-18-05, 03:27 PM | Greevus vs Coralias is up here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6477409&postcount=25) There probably is a mistake in the end...You are correct that a ray can crit and do double the strength damage. However the spell description states "The subject’s Strength score cannot drop below 1.", so Coralias would not be helpless....she would just have a -5 strength mod :P. This means the fight should continue. Also, you should paste quotes of both of our character sheets and tactics in sblocks somewhere in the fight as well. |

This means the fight should continue. Also, you should paste quotes of both of our character sheets and tactics in sblocks somewhere in the fight as well. I forgot the Character sheets. Silly me. :D Ok. The Sheets are on there, and well, you finished her off anyways. Even since she wasn't helpless. |
| Kaigan06-18-05, 04:57 PM | Just curious why I didn't stay at cover... it was in my tactics, well at least what little my tactics were, to keep moving and sniping. But as I said in my tactics, I didn't think I would win. I'm just disappointed about the ray o enfeeblement, i never meant to get that close to him. |
| Luni06-18-05, 06:11 PM | Just curious why I didn't stay at cover... it was in my tactics, well at least what little my tactics were, to keep moving and sniping. But as I said in my tactics, I didn't think I would win. I'm just disappointed about the ray o enfeeblement, i never meant to get that close to him. Well, the problem may of been me, Kaigan. Perhaps I don't quite understand sniping. The reason I moved you out of cover, was because you were needing Nat. 20's to hit him. I'm willing to re-roll the fight from the turn before the Ray of Enfeeblement if you want Kaigan. |
| Jindl06-18-05, 06:26 PM | You are correct that a ray can crit and do double the strength damage. This means the fight should continue. Also, you should paste quotes of both of our character sheets and tactics in sblocks somewhere in the fight as well. This is only party correct. Rays can crit and deal double damage. But a ray of enfeeblement does not deal damage, it deals a str penalty, which is not doubled on a crit. (Incidently this is the same reason why sneak attack damage cannot be added to a ray of enfeeblement). -Jindl |

No, it's alright. I think you have sniping down. Just keep the fight the way it is, you've already had to make changes once. I'm scraping Coralias anyways, so it's no big deal. But, When I was sniping, I did not need natural 20's. He is treated as flat footed, but as I said, I'm scraping Coralias. But anyways, good job with the fight. |
| King Uther06-18-05, 10:31 PM | @Xanadu, Huan I haven't forgotten about your quests. I'll update them tonight when I get a chance. I don't want you to look at the others and think I've overlooked you. Congratulations to the Heroes of Jindl Park! I'll have the xp/gp up tonight also if I have time. |
| Caterane06-19-05, 09:35 AM | The first Arena Team Fight is finished. It is a great fight; some buffing in the beginning but then it became on of the most interesting fights. |
| schri1206-19-05, 09:33 PM | Tactics sent. |
| Zerone06-19-05, 10:50 PM | Griff Mythral vs. Meinrad the Many-Fisted (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6488062&postcount=29) is posted. @ Iced: Please see the Character Violations thread to fix some minor errors on Griff. *•. Z |
| Salrantol06-20-05, 01:16 AM | @Salrantol: No more tactic-writing at 2 in the AM. It makes you forget things, like an opponent's scroll of fly, and the fact that while you're blind, you are flat-footed and can't Deflect Arrows, so you should probably buff with spells to survive. |
| Salrantol06-20-05, 01:25 AM | If I see Guts, switch to the "If we see Guts first" section. Why was this not done? After round 7, Guts was visible, so Barak should have readied suggestion on Guts' approach, rather than scorching ray on Zia's approach. Barak 5ft steps to the side, draws a potion of cure moderate wounds. Since this takes a fullround action that he doesn't have... Where did I get this? I have a scroll of cure moderate wounds which would take a standard action to use, and since I am a level 4 bard, there's not even a check. Still, an interesting fight. |
| Pittbull06-20-05, 03:43 AM | You forgot Hagrid's autohypnosis-skill to stabilize too. ;) |
| Sindorin06-20-05, 04:32 AM | Well, it is Monday now and still no tactics from cellardweller. That's too bad. Too bad indeed... |
| Pitlords06-20-05, 08:09 AM | @Bgt: Will the Talari vs Enoch fight be corrected before pairings or not? |
| Caterane06-20-05, 09:02 AM | @Teams: The suggestion is close range and you didn't want to move away from Hagrid who readied all the time. I've used a ready suggestion then instead. Please note that your tactics are not always clear and sometimes contradictive. I had to choose one course of action. More importantly though is that I forgot about Hagrid's autohypnosis which - spoiler - he passed! And instead of a potion, I used the quicker scroll of cure moderate. That also allowed Hagrid to use vigor. So it was not Barak vs Xyanthraxia but Barak and Hagrid. That created a completely new fight in the end. Read more about it here. |
| Cerebus1306-20-05, 09:26 AM | @Caterane In Round 11 I don't think you updated Hagrid's position to reflect his 5' step... He should be at (9,4) or so to be in range of Xyan. I'm pointing this out because there is a chance that Xyan could have 5' stepped south away from Hagrid and not have needed to make a concentration check to cast defensively. However her MM would only be doing 2d4+2 damage so there is a chance that it wouldn't knock Hagrid down with his 6 HPs remaining. I'm probably grasping at straws but I figured I should let you know anyway. |
| Caterane06-20-05, 02:12 PM | @Pittbull: Uhmentarymster wins and receives 2310xp/2860gc (2100xp/2600gc -15% +25%) Sokai Calanais loses and receives 630xp/779gc (700xp/866gc -25% +15%) Please add sblocks to the sheets and tactics |

Whow! Different end in the team fight! I didn't expected that! Autohypnosis rocks!!!! |
| Sindorin06-20-05, 03:56 PM | I'm not quite sure why tactics were improvised for Uhme and not Sokai and Seylah, but whatever. |
| Jindl06-20-05, 04:14 PM | Aeuiou vs the vampires is done. The fight was decided because a fighter carried a holy symbol... |
| Pitlords06-20-05, 04:25 PM | Uh Jindl, they can still drain levels. Using the symbol against them is a standard action. |
| Jindl06-20-05, 04:31 PM | Uh Jindl, they can still drain levels. Using the symbol against them is a standard action. They drain levels with a melee attack. From the SRD: A recoiling vampire must stay at least 5 feet away from a creature holding the mirror or holy symbol and cannot touch or make melee attacks against the creature holding the item for the rest of the encounter. You don't have to keep presenting the holy symbol. Once they were recoiling, they could only make ranged attacks or attempt to dominate. Aeiou kept a protection from <alingment> running, making himself immune to dominate. And once he equipped his shield, the vamps needed a 20 to hit him. I rolled and they never did. He spirit charged them to death. The end. This whole issue about recoiling vamps is the exact reason why I would never play one. Its just lucky that Aeiou had a holy symbol, especially considering that he is a fighter. -Jindl |
| bgt06-20-05, 04:38 PM | I've made the corrections to the Talari vs Enoch fight. Sorry I couldn't fix it sooner, I had a busy weekend. |
| michael_noah06-20-05, 04:42 PM | They drain levels with a melee attack. From the SRD: You don't have to keep presenting the holy symbol. This whole issue about recoiling vamps is the exact reason why I would never play one. Its just lucky that Aeiou had a holy symbol, especially considering that he is a fighter. -Jindl Hmm. You're right. However, I think this is clearly a typo. They meant to say, "the creature strongly presenting the ..." not "the creature holding the ..." That way, once you cease taking a standard action each round, you're not doing it anymore and they can attack. As it is, you still have to at least hold on the the item for the whole fight, so you couldn't use a two handed weapon, etc. |
| Pitlords06-20-05, 04:48 PM | Archangel Ixenthor (Caterane) vs Lance (Cellardweller): Sindorin has been cancelled because Cellardweller doesn't send tactics or respond. Apparently he is on safari or something and that's why you should ALWAYS write the correct date into the headline, and not like Cellar "Ready anytime". The very same thing happened with Zyme who also wrote to be "Ready anytime". From now on "Ready anytime" means "Please don't pair me!!!" Sindorin -1°, Caterane+1° Re: Vampire: Of course it's only for the round in which you're taking a standard action. It would be stupid to present the symbol once, then go to bed with a vampire next to you. |
| Sunwolf06-20-05, 04:49 PM | From SRD: Vampires cannot tolerate the strong odor of garlic and will not enter an area laced with it. Similarly, they recoil from a mirror or a strongly presented holy symbol. These things don’t harm the vampire—they merely keep it at bay. A recoiling vampire must stay at least 5 feet away from a creature holding the mirror or holy symbol and cannot touch or make melee attacks against the creature holding the item for the rest of the encounter. Holding a vampire at bay takes a standard action. Hate to do this, but I would argue that the vampires only recoil if they are held at bay which takes a standard action. So, he could hold them at bay and they could shoot bolts at him. However, inorder to attack them he needs to use a standard action. He didn't turn them after all. |
| Jindl06-20-05, 04:49 PM | Re: Vampire: Of course it's only for the round in which you're taking a standard action. It would be stupid to present the symbol once, then go to bed with a vampire next to you. According to the RAW, the effects last for the rest of the encounter. I agree its stupid, but thats the rules. -Jindl |
| Malither7606-20-05, 04:57 PM | Yep clearly states in MM that holding a vampire at bay cost a standard action, as long as you keep doing this that vampire can't attack you the rest of the encounter, but as soon as you don't present the symbol in this manner game on. and Indri' get a new pet is up |
| bgt06-20-05, 05:01 PM | It would be stupid to present the symbol once, then go to bed with a vampire next to you. That all depends on how obsessed with immortality you are. :P |
| Luni06-20-05, 05:14 PM | @bgt: I have just one problem with the rematch. Talari shouldn't have dismissed the entangle field, until I ran out of ranged attacks. I don't think it would make a difference though, as his Augmented Scorpion would crush me while I'm paralyzed. You also got the rewards wrong. I should win more than 312 xp/gold. |
| bgt06-20-05, 05:24 PM | Honestly, the rewards confused me a little. Anyone know what the rewards for that fight should be? |
| Jindl06-20-05, 05:36 PM | Yep clearly states in MM that holding a vampire at bay cost a standard action, as long as you keep doing this that vampire can't attack you the rest of the encounter, but as soon as you don't present the symbol in this manner game on. Actually, nowhere does it say that once you stop presenting the holy symbol, its game on. What it says (as I have already quoted) is that once you present the holy symbol, the vampire is recoiling, and it cannot make melee attacks against that character for the rest of the encounter. Emphasis on "rest of the encounter". |
| Caterane06-20-05, 06:05 PM | Even the village fool could "present the symbol" and make stupid faces at the army of vampires for the rest of the night. No profieciency required. No save. No Resistance. Just one standard action and you're immune to one of the most dangerous creatures in the MM. Doesn't that sound odd to you? |
| Zerone06-20-05, 06:05 PM | The Ripper vs. The Xorn Twins (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6495322&postcount=33) is up... *•. Z |
| Jindl06-20-05, 06:23 PM | Even the village fool could "present the symbol" and make stupid faces at the army of vampires for the rest of the night. No profieciency required. No save. No Resistance. Just one standard action and you're immune to one of the most dangerous creatures in the MM. Doesn't that sound odd to you? Yes, it does sound stupid. But that is the RAW. Do you want to change it? Then propose it to the Elders. But it wouldn't be fair to Kaigan if we changed it during the fight. As the rules are now, anyone can strongly present a mirror or holy symbol, and the vampire won't be able to touch or make melee attacks against that character for the rest of the encounter. Of course they can still make other attacks and they don't flee. But since Aeiou was protected from domination and his AC was too high, they were unable to kill him before he killed them. I would have made the rule that they only recoil while the mirror/symbol is presented, but that would be a houserule. -Jindl |
| Caterane06-20-05, 06:54 PM | One that every DM would make, and since we all agree on that being a typo and not in the sense of WotC (they make weird rules sometimes but not that weird) we should correct that. I'm not saying Kaigan's fight should be affected. I'm talking about future fights vs Vampires. I'd prefer if we handle this quickly. What do the other Elders say? |
| Salrantol06-20-05, 06:58 PM | Honestly, the rewards confused me a little. Anyone know what the rewards for that fight should be? I get 675 XP/gp (900 -25%) and she gets 375 XP/gp (300 +25%) |
| Malither7606-20-05, 07:27 PM | I agree with you that it says rest of the encounter but this is all in the same sentence while being held at bay, meaning while being held at bay vampire can't melee that opponent for rest of encoutner, holding at bay requires a standard action every round. Wizards doesn't always make weird rules just sometimes hard to understand ones, I don't know if it would be fair to change the fight or not but I would not have ran them the way you did. Really the only word the mistakingly put in was holding the sympol it says a vampire can't attack the one holding the sybol, if they are no longer presenting it they are no longer holding it, and if he was using his shiled and lance then there is no symbol being held. I'm sorry to keep going here I haven't read the fight yet but the vampires are not stupid either, if they were being held at bay from the rider there is no reason they wouldn't have pulled down the horse and ate it. |
| Maverick Knight06-20-05, 11:28 PM | Sorry guys, my fights will be delayed until tomorrow. I just really have been that busy. Apologies to Zerone, Luni, and verdeloth... 8-hour work shifts suck. 4-hours of sleep a night also helps. |
| Huan06-20-05, 11:47 PM | Bare-bones of the rematch of Mer-Man vs Rayos (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6498302) is up. Short version: Very likely one of them is sick and tired of getting assaulted in this same manner. |
| Kaigan06-20-05, 11:52 PM | @Huan: I have no idea how he charged me, there is no way. Please show me clearly how he did this. There is LOS, maybe, but there is no way that a large creature has the ability to charge through the obstacles in the way. |
| Huan06-20-05, 11:57 PM | Wait, you're right.. there is only enough room for a medium or smaller creature to charge and bypass both obstacles... let me rerun from that point... tomorrow morning (though, Rayos's best hope is to gun down Ganimed before Mer-Man reaches him.) |
| Zerone06-21-05, 12:58 AM | Sorry guys, my fights will be delayed until tomorrow. I just really have been that busy. Apologies to Zerone, Luni, and verdeloth... 8-hour work shifts suck. 4-hours of sleep a night also helps. No worries, just do your best. :) Also, for the future, if you are falling behind and worried that you might not get one or more of your fights done, just post here, in the FotW Thread, and some one will take over the fight/s for you. It's happened to the best of us... Just don't make a habbit of it. :D *•. Z |
| Jindl06-21-05, 01:16 AM | I'm sorry to keep going here I haven't read the fight yet but the vampires are not stupid either, if they were being held at bay from the rider there is no reason they wouldn't have pulled down the horse and ate it. They couldn't because when recoiling they must remain 5 ft away from Aeuluath, and he shares the same space as their mount. If only I had bought them a reach weapon... |
| Malither7606-21-05, 01:27 AM | Yeah I guess that is true since the rider is considered to be anywere on the mount, I think you ran it correct for the crappy wording, but yeah you guys can vote and fix this or we will never have any Vamps running around. Telveran and Sinnoch is in process of being ran sorry for delay. |
| Huan06-21-05, 10:02 AM | @Kaigan, Caterane I'm sorry, but the fight was reran and even though Rayos got 5 more attacks on Ganimed, he did not take it down before the grapple came (if less-than-average dmg was not rolled, Ganimed WOULD have fallen, though). @Kaigan For Rook's fight, Zubair's first attack was indeed very devastating (leaving me with merely 4 HP), why did you not have Rook cast Invisibilty and THEN recover HP (like in my tactics, where it said "if things got really bad")? |
| Kaigan06-21-05, 10:03 AM | @Huan: Okay, sorry, I should have. I'll change it when I get back, but I've got work now. I'll rerun later. |
| Caterane06-21-05, 12:13 PM | @Huan/Kaigan: Just read it. Rayos was 160 ft away which is exactly my double move speed, 180 with spur mount. I can easily base him on round 2 so that he has to 5ft step away else AoO which is the 20-grapple. Withdrawing is no option with his slower mount. In case of a rock, I can easily jump over it with my jump modifier of +24 which is part of my movement. Btw, a 20 is a critical even in case of a touch attack and Merman has uncanny dodge so he's not FF in the daylight. Ok I see that we lost now, mostly because Guts rolled a @$&% 2 to grapple Barak, but I would think if Xyanthraxia would send Zia to zap Hagrid w/ shocking grasp - the correct move once Guts was dead - why do this in round 12 and not round 10 or not round 9? Because Zia would have gotten an AoO from Hagrid. A magic missile had a 100% chance of getting through and dropping Hagrid (which it did in the first run). You didn't object when I did this in the first run (where you won) so please don't object now that you lost. |
| Pitlords06-21-05, 12:55 PM | @Sindorin (or whoever steals this thread from him): I've noticed that many visitors from other boards watch this thread which should be pretty uninteresting to them. | Malither7606-21-05, 02:49 PM | I appologize greatly but I will not be able to do / finish the Telveran VS Sinnoch fight. I have a lot of work to to and I am attempting to get a new job. Sorry for the bad week here guys, can some one please pick it up I will put the tactics here for whomever can take it thanks and to the gladiators I appologize real life sucks some times. Telveran tacticsThanks for pitlording. Have fun. Sunwolf. Errors on his sheet: His hitpoints should be (6+ 4*4.5 +0con) =24hp His grapple is (+3 BAB +1 Str -4 size) =0 Armor class is 17 (+3 armor +3 dex +1 size) flat 14 touch 14 His ranged attack is +8 (+3BAB +1 size +3 dex +1 magic) Damage from the short bow should be 1d4+2 -- or 1d6+2 if he takes -2 penalty to hit for using a misized weapon He can't use bard music skills because he doesn't have any perform skills. His tattoos of force screen should be 100gp each. Turn undead falls under the 1/3 rule so he can only use divine might 2x His encumbrance totals are light <37.5/38/76 He is carrying 10lbs std leather 10lbs alchemist fire 12lbs tanglefoot bags 2lbs short bow 5lbs thunder stones 6lbs == 40 arrows 1 lbs cloak --- 46 lbs So he is at med encumbrance giving him a move of 15ft and -3 armor check penalty which does apply to hide, tumble, move silently I expect him to snipe me to death, potentially also shattering my bow. I would like boost my AC as best I can and try to blind him, then shoot him with arrows or attack her with greatsword if in melee. Closing to melee is my preference but shoot as I close. Notes: Dont for get my lay on hands healing. Share all spells I cast with Rascal. Rascal gets spot and listen checks too. He has scent also he can use that to locate Sinnoch if we are close enough. All my spells except some cantrips do not suffer ASF. Scrolls of True strike or blindness/deafness don't have S components so only require 1 free hand(holding the scroll). If he shoots at Rascal, Rascal gets a +4 cover bonus for being in my hex. Telveran threatens with his armor spikes even if his hands are full. Rascal will spend his actions listening and looking for Sinnoch (from under the hood of my cloak of course) and indicate direction to me. Rascal gets bonuses to fear saves from bless and also aura of courage from Telveran. Of course Telveran is immune to fear. If I fail casting from a scroll and make the following dc5 wisdom save, I can try again because the scroll hasn't been used up. Telveran Trog form -- changes to sheet: +6 nat armor, multiattack, +4 hide check, 1d4+3 claws, 1d4+3 bite -- full attack +7 melee and +4 bite (1d4+3) Leave Nimblefoot at home. Bring Rascal with me. Enter with scroll stilled alter self in hand and in the default spot. Win or lose init: Cast alter self into trogdolyte. Share spells with Rascal making him look more ferocious (steel grey and black coloring) but still a weasel. Move to cover. Drop to knee for +2 to AC vs ranged (free action). Rascal will delay or refocus so his turn is just before mine. Draw and cast scroll of owls wisdom -- +2 bonus to will saves and spot and listen checks for both of us. Draw and cast scroll resist energy -- choose fire. Cast bless for +1 to hit for 2 min. Draw wand of shield. Use wand of shield. Stow wand. Stand. Draw bow and move towards central pillar to look for him or in direction of his arrow shots. If I haven't found him by this point move in a counterclockwise fashion looking for him. On following rounds: Once I notice him shooting at me and I have my buffs up, draw and drink potion of SOF. Draw scroll of blindness. If I or Rascal spot him and aren't silenced, move closer and ready to cast blindness on him when he pops up to snipe. If he fails his save, accept his surrender if he choses. If he didn't surrender and failed his save just close on him (don't need skate tattoo) and attack him with greatsword. Tap a tattoo of skate and move up and base him. With skate I should be moving 35 to his 15. At this point stow bow and draw greatsword. After basing him, cast truestrike and powerattack for -4/+8 on next attack. I can try this twice. Use both tattoos of skate if I have too. Interrupts: Use lay on hands healing if I have taken more than 12 points of damage. Use CLW wand after lay on hands if I fall below 17 hp if not engaged. Move to cover when healing if possible (drop to knee if not). Do not drop bow or wand, stow them. if blinded use tattoo of synesthete. If entangled with tangle foot bag and I fail my save, slash away at it with claw and bite till it is gone if I am holding my bow. If holding greatsword use that and bite to get rid of it -- powerattack -4/+8 when slashing at goo with greatsword. If he shatters my bow, search for him using greatsword. If he silences me, use spot checks to figure out where he is, tapping tattoo does not require sound. use force screen tattoos in this case if shield drops If shield is about to run out, pull wand activate and stow wand. Do not drop the wand. Use cover (break LOS) if possible while doing this. Drop to knee if I can't get to cover. If my tactics break down, use resources if they give me a good chance to win. RP: Treat Sinnoch honorably unless he shows that he deserves otherwise. Sinnoch tactics I'm not taking any thunderstones, as well as any amount of equipment I don't need to not be encumbered. And, since I did not outline it in my tactics, use scroll of snctuary and CLW if need be. Use your own judgment. These are Sinnoch Woldstorm's tactics: RP wise, Sinnoch respects those who can follow the narrow path, as he cannot do so himself. Clearly this is a battle of wits. I cannot defeat him in melee or speed, but he can't even see me to begin with. So, here's the plan: 1. Tattoo of chameleon, hide -always make sure to hide whenever possible. He cannot roll high enough to see me. Even sniping he has great difficulty. 2. Tattoo of Force Screen 3. Scroll of Protection From Good 4. If I can spot him from a distance while hiding, even during buffs, try to get lucky with the blindness spell. There is a 20% chance of success, but the effect is worth it. 5. Use my Scroll of Spiritual Weapon, having it assault the horse while I snipe the horse. I need his mobility to be decreased. - Deny him the charge whenever possible. If I find myself where I cannot, ready the shatter spell on his lance when he does charge. - If things start to look bad for me, use Scroll of Summon Mon IV to summon 1d3 Celestial Black bears to maul him. - Don't forget about the tanglefoot bags, if forced into melee use one followed by an alchemists fire. - The ideal situation is his mount dies, then I snipe until the battle ends. But...he has a wand of CLW so if he keeps using it I'll need to summon the bears to keep his HP down. - Use Obscuring mist to retreat if I have to. |

| Luni06-21-05, 03:55 PM | @Maverick Knight: I should get my AoO, for him moving. My AoO interrupts his action, so it should be my ready action, my AoO, and then he should grapple me. With Expansion plus the Huge Longspear my threat range is 15'-20'. Also, With expansion, I should have a +7 on my grapple check. How do I end up with a grapple check of 6? |
| King Uther06-21-05, 03:57 PM | Can I give credit presents? Because I would gladly give a 5 credit(or more) present to anyone who can finish the Sinnoch Wildstorm vs Telveran Trueblade fight by next pairing. |

Because I would gladly give a 5 credit(or more) present to anyone who can finish the Sinnoch Wildstorm vs Telveran Trueblade fight by next pairing. By what time would the fight have to be up? If it's just before pairings go up, I might be able to do it. Tomorrow is my last day of school, and I have a half day. I might have just enough time. |
| Kaigan06-21-05, 08:43 PM | @Huan/Kerlan: Rook vs. Zubair is rerun. If what I did is not fair, please post, and I'll rerun again with listen checks. Thanks. |
| Huan06-21-05, 09:04 PM | @Kaigan -_-; Bleh. Well, no use asking for a re-rerun. Final nitpicky points are: I requested to be at the rear of my square, and I don't know why you placed me in the center... Zubair takes range penalites for firing beyond his bow's range... and (0,-12) is an impossible square to fire from beacuse there is no LOS to me, and there is also a rock in that square ... (but, both of those errors are easily remedied with the same fight result so that's irrelevant now). @Caterane I keep forgetting those are merely 5 ft rocks that can be leapt over. |
| bgt06-22-05, 02:18 PM | Telveren vs Sinnoch is up. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6510470&postcount=40) It's really rushed, abbreviated, and I had to use my own dice. But it's something, and it was up before the deadline. Still, if either of you wants, I'm sure you can get it extended and have the quick results I came up with ignored.. |

Bgt, you had Sinnoch surrender at full health because a 2 hp Weasel was attached to him? We're really grateful that you took over but that's not acceptable. A single hit kills the beast and it does only 1 damage a round if attached. Please finish the fight. |

Not to mention that weasels are tiny creatures, and have a 0 reach (so it really can't take an AoO against Sinnoch.) |
| Sunwolf06-22-05, 02:47 PM | It is a 22 hp weasel. Sinnoch doesn't have a light weapon and can't kill it in one hit. I agree on the AOO -- Rascal doesn't threaten outside of his hex. If sinnoch runs telveran should be able to get him as a spell target or shoot him with an arrow. Telveran can also increase his speed with skate. That being said sinnoch may be able to force more resource usage if the fight continues and may still be able to win if he has some luck. @BGT: When you continue the fight -- bless runs for 20 rounds for telveran and resist energy is 30 min duration. I can't tell if you rolled a spell success chance on the alter self spell but you should -- 50min duration. @pitlords: Yes I agree it is not a fair ending. |

AoO first. Then he can grapple it off (Weasel has grapple-8) or strike with his fist or an arrow (both light weapons). Or ignore it and fight on; it does only 1 dam per round. In any case, this fight isn't over. |
| bgt06-22-05, 03:01 PM | Like I said, It was rushed. I was trying to get the fight up before the cut off, and I barely made it. If you wish to rerun the fight as extended, go right ahead. |
| Pitlords06-22-05, 03:27 PM | Rush or not, you can't just say "x wins, y loses" because that's basically what you did. Anyway, thanks for trying though. I'll assign you that fight for this week so you can continue to work on it. |
| bgt06-22-05, 05:48 PM | Thanks, that would be great. Just wish I could have finished it in time. |
| LLMadCow06-22-05, 10:37 PM | @Rim-Soulfang - If you read the tactics that I sent to you, you will notice a few things. 1st, you will notice that my objective was to enter melee. This was not my only TACTIC, but my 2nd objective, aka GOAL. That is part of the reason I started with a bow in hand. Since DW had a bow in hand and NEVER DREW HIS GREATSWORD, he should have spent the entire fight making ranged attacks against Brilf's AC 19. DW would have been attacking at d20 +6, since he would not have entered a rage, since he WASN'T IN MELEE. So, he would have hit 40% of the time, or 3 times in 9 rounds, doing an average of 13 damage per hit (2d6 + 4 Str + 2 Favored Enemy) or 39 points before he can drop me, resulting in the odds being in DWs favor. 2nd, DW may be a Barbarian, but he is not retarded. I could have made comments much earlier, but I just got home. My guess is since the fight was posted at the last minute that it is going to stand as it is, but I would really like an explanation for why the fight was so late that I cannot enter the character into fights this week and why my character was run in such manner. |
| Pitlords06-23-05, 04:00 AM | @Brian: You can fight a random monster if you wish. I'd even allow to update your sheet since you don't know which one but I need to know within the next hours. |
