I was unable to set Brilf ready this week, any chance that he can get paired this week vs a gladiator of ECL 4-5? He wouldn't have any chages except to rebuy what he spent in the last fight.

Okay, like, I know the name Varia is ingenious, but please, having two gladiators with the same name will definitely get confusing.

Just imagine if the two were fighting each other. I pity the pitlord, I do, I do.

Sasha vs Gurvix is up (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6412628&postcount=5).

Don't blink, you'll miss it.The fort save DC should be 16 (10 + damage dealt), but Gurvix still should have made the roll. You rolled 1d20+8, which applies his normal fort save bonus of +8, but then took off -2 for some reason.

Losing rage makes you fatigued, which gives you a -2 Str/Dex....not Con. So I think even if Gurvix did lose his rage he still should have survived the Coup de Grace.
Sindorin

06-10-05, 06:10 PM
Since it looks like Sasha vs. Gurvix may need to be fixed slightly, I need to point out that Sasha did not start where I stated I wanted her to in my tactics. She should have started where she could be hiding right from the start. Theoretically she should never have been seen...

I'm amazed a fight went that short with the new arena!

Crud, you'r right. When I noticed I made the roll with his rage stats, I took two off for the 4 con he'd be losing. I didn't realize he never adjusted the Fort save bonus for the +4 Con he'd get, I'll go fix the fight.

I need to point out that Sasha did not start where I stated I wanted her to in my tactics.

Thanks for correcting the fight, bgt. Pitlording can be frustrating, whether it is your first fight or your twentieth. I do have a concern though. I stated in my tactics that I wanted to buff with several scrolls and a tattoo. Sasha did not do this and instead casted Sleep... If her buffs were up, his attack would not have been successful, and she could have escaped. The buffs also were supposed to make Sasha very difficult to spot for purposes of sniping. I only stated the Sleep tactic for in case the sniping was not effective (I could have worded it better, I know :)). My comment above meant that I wanted her to hide and buff before she did anything else... I hope you'll look at it and perhaps run the fight from round 1 instead of where the incorrect save was made.

I know no one wants to change a fight multiple times, but could you please edit the fight to follow the tactics I wrote?
Remember, it is your call whether you do or not.

Sasha vs Gurvix v. 3 is now up.

Well, you didn't follow my tactics. My tactics were with the intent in mind never to be seen - at the distances it would have been, this would have held true while she sniped. This build may fail simply because people don't understand the tactics.

There was a round in which Sasha rematerialized her mind blade and did nothing else. I'm not understanding why this was done.

I really would appreciate a look at that.

Remateralizing the mind blade is a move action. Throwing the mind blade is a standard action. Using the sniping version of Hide is a move action. That's one action too many, and there really wasn't anything else for you to do on that turn.

I was just about to run the fight but I want the dire bat issue resolved before I have to make any re-runs.

The table in the DMG says it is a suitable mount for small characters. Personally I do not have a problem with a medium sized Indri riding it because it fulfills the size requirements (i.e. large). This is my interpretation and thus a house rule which overrides the DMG. What is Coco policy here?

Assuming it is ruled that the medium sized creatures can use dire bats as flying mounts, there is the weight issue. According to said table in DMG, it can only support 172 lbs before it loses the capability of flight. This wieght limit will most certainly be exceeded by medium sized characters with their equipment, especially if the place barding on the bat (which Indri currently has).

Even if Indri goes in barebones with just the equipment he intends to use in the fight, the bat will be carrying over 200 lbs.

Please help.
Caterane

06-11-05, 08:24 PM
A direbat is absolutely ok for a medium size character. Here the reference:

Suitable mounts: DMG,p204 clearly defines what a suitable mount is.
- Able and willing to carry a ride [OK]
- At least one size category larger [OK]
- CR 4 less than ECL (CoCo rule) [OK]

You are right on the carrying capacity though. I took the stats for a quadraped creature. I will PM you any changes in equipment at once.

Do not run the fight if anything in my tactic does not work as described!!!

Talari Leafwhisper vs. Xyanthraxia (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6421349&postcount=8) is up.

In unrelated news, the next person to send me tactics that say, in effect, Concentrate for 27 rounds, gets visited by me and a bunch of cronies with baseball bats.

Edit: OK, only if the tactics say, in essence, "Concentrate for 27 rounds on a spell that forces a save to slow my opponent down but otherwise does basically nothing".
Caterane

06-11-05, 08:49 PM
@Xanadu: I've send you the PM with the information. I really appreciate that you told me that the bat is too heavily encumbered. Others might have had Indri sit on the Bat for 60 rounds trying to get it into the air while being shot at...

@Xanadu: Just one concern with the fight. indri has divine might, which adds his Cha to his damage by using one of his turn or rebuke attempts.

He has eight of those, and he threw more than eight alchemist fires. The ones after the first eight should not have divine might with them.

Edit: Just curious, but are abilities like turn undead that have a certain number of times a day. Are they part of the 1/3 rule.
If they are, then in Indri's case, he has 8 times a day/3=3 times. That's significantly less damage, then what is shown.

Kaigan, I used his divine might as the 1/3 rule [note he had 3 attempts which I kept track of.]. He only hit you with 1 flask w/ divine might during rounds 6-10.

Remateralizing the mind blade is a move action. Throwing the mind blade is a standard action. Using the sniping version of Hide is a move action. That's one action too many, and there really wasn't anything else for you to do on that turn.

Let's make sure we're on the same page, er, round ;):

Round 10:
Gurvix spends yet another turn listening. Sasha rematerializes her mind blade.
Sasha: (4/-6), 5/24, 0/1 spells left, +20 to hide
Gurvix: (8/-7), 21/30

All Sasha did was rematerialize her blade. That's a whole move action that could get her away from Gurvix and possibly hide again! Still, this doesn't matter because you never followed the tactics to begin with, I wanted Sasha to buff and not attack/cast spells at Gurvix right off the bat. It's almost like you ignored the first half of my tactics and skipped straight to the Sleep line.
This should be fixed:
-Sasha starts hiding behind either a pillar or a rock in her starting box.
-She needs to buff like I stated in my tactics.

I hope this isn't too complicated. If you need help following my tactics, ask Cat or one of the other Elders, please. I am just glad you were very quick in getting the fight finished and posted so we could help you work it to perfection. Thanks!

@Xanadu: Thanks for running the fight but I want to point out some things for the future:

- I wanted to hide from round 1 on every round (see tactic). As the fight stands, I hid not at all during most parts of the fight. Hiding is basically free, I can do it every round anew at the beginning of my turn before I attack. It doesn't really matter if Aeiou sees me after the attack. Example:

Round 6: Although he saw me after the snipe on round 5, I can rehide on round 6, then attack. This results in a FF touch attack, negating his total defense and ride cover (dex-based check; he loses dex while FF).

Round 7-10: There's no need to spend a full round just to hide. I should have one more attack, and all are vs Ac10 thus they hit instead of missing (unless he spots me without me getting -20).

Round 11-14: I just got off one attack in 4 rounds.

Round 19: Aeiou will be FF until my turn is over. Imagine a rogue getting a fullsneak attack off.

Round 20: Why not hide? There's no better point than during healing. It's no action.

Round 21-25: I hit only once when I should have hit with 3, plus I only attacked four times in five rounds.

And some other note, not concerning my fight but yours: Desdenova has some undead but she must go on a Quest first to get them, and pass the CL check for animate dead on the quest.

@all: Allies must be quested on unless otherwise noted!

The reason I let this slide in the fight was because she had them before character creation. Ceres was allowed to have his pegasus (something he simply bought) at creation without having to quest...

Let me know if there should be changes in that fight.

Cat: Does not hiding after an attack give you a -20 to your check? If I have you hide as a free action after you attack, your hide modifier would be -7 vs. his spot at +3, right? He will most likely see you, in whuch case you will attack his AC 19. The reason I had you hide in a round you didn't snipe is not because I didn't know it was a free action but because I wanted to avoid the -20 penalty so Indri could actually have a chance to attack a flat flooted Aeiou which you wanted him to do. And w/ Aeiou in turtle mode it is not like your were under any threat or time was a factor.

If I am wrong here please tell me so I can properly run sniping gladiators in the future.

You did attack twice rounds 11-14 (hitting both times on rolls of 18 and 22); I will make that clearer I guess.

Round 19: yes I know but see comment for round 20.

Round 20: I had Indri voluntarily stop hiding (and thus no ff) because at that point his character realized that Aeiou would shoot his bat if he couldn't find Indri. Your bat's AC was 24 and not 28 because you had to leave your barding @ home and the +4 force screen is a very short duration buff. Since you told me to keep your bat alive at all costs, I believe it would have been in Indri's best interests to try and hit him (which Aeiou needs a 20), rather than have him shoot at your bat (which would soon have an AC 20). At that point in the fight since he isn't going total defense and w/ the stone, Indri doesn't really need to hide to hit Aeiou. In sum, why not present a target Aeiou can't hit rather than let him shoot than your "joker"? If you don't think this was wise, then I will re-run the fight having you hide. I did this because your oringal tactics assumed Aeiou needed a 20 to hit your bat and that was no longer the case.

Rounds 21-25. Should be 21-24. You hit 3 times not once. 3 damages and 3 burns are rolled. I guess I have to make my shorthand clearer.

About Desdenova: I was under the impression that gladiators enter Gladius w/ whatever CORE stuff is affordable/available within purchase & possible credit cost limitations. Thus, it is possible for Ceres to have purchased and trained for a pegasus before he came to Gladius and not have quested for it. If Desdenova wanted some bigger nastier undead, now that she is at Gladius, then she would have to quest for it. Am I correct in understanding this distinction?
Caterane

Cat: Does not hiding after an attack give you a -20 to your check? If I have you hide as a free action after you attack, your hide modifier would be -7 vs. his spot at +3, right? He will most likely see you, in whuch case you will attack his AC 19.

You mix two things up. Look:

Round X:
Indri attacks Aeiou with a standard action. I can use a move action to rehide at -20, if I want and the whole process is called sniping. Instead of sniping, I could also just attack normally and Aeiou auto-sptots me because I didn't rehide. Indri's turn is finished.

Aeiou's turn begins. He spots me, either because he succeeded on a spot vs my snipe hide, or because I didn't hide at all after the attack. He is not FF. Aeiou pulls something from his nose or shoots or whatever, doesn't matter. Aeiou's turn is finished. But now:

Round X+1:
Indri hides. Aeiou gets an opposed spot check. Indri suffers no penalty because he hasn't attacked. Let's say Aeiou fails this opposed check (which is very likely given his +3 vs my +15). Now Indri uses a standard action to attack. Aeiou is FF because he hasn't spotted me. Indri uses his remaining move action to rehide which he fails. Aeiou spots me after the attack but the attack is already resolved. Indri's turn is finished.

Rinse, repeat "X+1" the whole fight. That's a flatfooted touch attack vs Ac10.

Bottom line: Indri doesn't even have to snipe although since I have a move action left I can as well use it but that has nothing to do with the hiding before the attack which is made at no penalty.

No, that's wrong. What you can do at character creation (ally-wise):
- Buy a bought animal and train it, provided you have enough HA ranks
- Buy an egg or other infant version, and rear it from infancy, including tricks. You need enough ranks in HA, and you can only do this with those explicitely listed in the MM as having an egg price. Like a pegasus.
- Get any class ally that you do not have to find first. These are: wizard familiars, psicrystals, druid/ranger companions, thaumaturg planar cohorts, and thrallherd thralls (thanks Megrim).

All other allies must be quested! Who says you're passing the CL for Animate dead? Who says you defeat an Ankheg at lvl 3?

PS: That's all in the FAQ. I really need to teach you guys to use it!

OK, a couple of things:

About hiding in general. I really must admit either I just dont get it or the skill description sucks.

Indri wants to sit on his mount 20 feet above his opponent, with the darkness spell active, and try to be hidden before every attack.

Because the darkness spell creates the necessary environment for hiding, concealment, Indri hides. After Indri attacks, he is spotted.

Now what happens?

If people are observing you, even casually, you can’t hide.

Read Cat's post above with his X and X+1 descripitons - can he do this without Hide in Plain Sight or creating a distraction? HIPS is a high level character ability which, to my limited knowledge anyway, is the only thing which allows on to

use the Hide skill even while being observed.

Now, whenever I get tactics which say "hide," do these gladiators, once spotted, have to break their opponent's line of sight? Are these gladiators re-spotted if their opponent's remove the source of cover [say a rock]?

Regarding higher level character creation I was under the impression, and I dont think I was alone, that before your character comes to Gladius you are considered to have "infinite time" before you start battling. Desdenova's undead allies were not created with an animate dead spell where defeating these creatures and passing a CL check is necessary. They are simply rebuked as the sheet and tactics to Sindorin indicate.

What low level characters have not encountered skeletons? What low level clerics would not use their rebuke ability against these skeletons? How is it that at character creation, one can use their handle animal skill to aquire and train X whereas a cleric cannot simply use his rebuke class ability? If Desdenova has "infinite time" in her adventuring career, why is it not reasonable to assume that she would have used this particular class feature?

What is the difference between Ceres being able to handpick, let alone find, an ostensibly rare exotic ally - something that every other gladiator would most have to quest for once they enter Gladius - upon character creation and Desdenova not being able to use a class ability against things that are literally a dime a dozen and everpresent in the D & D world?
xanadu

06-12-05, 03:11 PM
Nevermind, I already see this is pointless. "Because it says so in the FAQ." This means that characters created above level 5 with the leadership feat don't get to handpick their allies, right? Or created at any level get to handpick anything that isn't a class feature?

Better add "the Clerics's ability to rebuke undead is not considered a class feature for the purposes of determining an ally." to the FAQ.
Caterane

Hiding: since I am in the darkness, it is no "plain sight". If you like, I can use a move action to move somewhere and hide while moving. The important line in the rules is that concealment allows you to hide.

Allies: Ceres didn't find the egg, he bought it. Look at the FAQ: NPC Services (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5660668). You'll find that table:

Giant Eagle (Egg 2500 gp, Adult 4000 gp)
Griffon (Egg 3500 gp, Adult 7000 gp)
Hippogriff (Egg 2000 gp, Adult 3000 gp)
Giant Owl (Egg 2500 gp, Adult 4000 gp)
Pegasus (Egg 2000 gp, Adult 3000 gp)
Pseudodragon (Egg 10000 gp, Adult 20000 gp)
Spidereater (Egg 2000 gp, Adult 3000 gp)

You can buy this egg anytime. But with LivingGladius' real time progression, you'd be old until the pegasus is grown up therefore we say that you have unlimited time before character creation. There is no roll involved. Same for training the pegasus. He takes 10. No roll necessary => he cannot fail although without handle animal, he could have payed a trainer (see NPC Services). He does not have to go on an adventure and face dangers. He just goes to the Market Square.

Rebuke undead requires a successfull Rebuke undead roll which you can fail. You also have to go on an adventure to find a zombie first, or a Quest like we call it here ;) That's also fight with a lot of rolls. And while a regular skeleton might be findable, an ankheg skeleton surely isn't. And defeating a living Ankheg at lvl 3 alone is surely not automatic. You say no prob? Sure, show us here in your quest and it is yours before your first arena fight.

Anything that requires a roll must be done in a quest, campaign, or arena. That's the deal. Anything that cannot be bought or comes to you automatically must be quested.

Somebody else whose gladiator was not involved in the fight please explain this to me.

Just because Indri is in darkness, once spotted he is under the condition of "If people are observing you, even casually, you can’t hide." Yes?

For if he could simply use a move action and hide without breaking his opponent's LOS, then he would be duplicating the prestige class Shadowdancer allegedly unique ability, would he not?

If Indri must use a move action to move somewhere else and break his opponent's LOS to hide again, then that would require at least one round of non-combat activity, which is exactly what I (artifically) simulated in the fight which Caterane is telling me I did incorrectly.

I hate hiding characters and I hate the neigh-impossible and questionable tactics they send me, can someone please tell me what the hell I am supposed to do in the Indri-Aeiou scenario. In a paper and pencil game, I don't go looking for a rogue hidden in the central pillars and asked to be sneak attacked; yet that is what every sniper wants to do to their opponent

Let's make sure we're on the same page, er, round ;):
All Sasha did was rematerialize her blade. That's a whole move action that could get her away from Gurvix and possibly hide again!
Materializing a mindblade isn't drawing a weapon, no matter how similar it may appear at a glance. It takes up the move action, it isn't performed on the move action. I could have taken a 5-ft step, but that wouldn't have gotten you far away enough.

It's almost like you ignored the first half of my tactics and skipped straight to the Sleep line.

OK, now I've got a complaint. Gurvix saved against the first sleep spell in version one and now he fails his save against the sleep spell! Usually I believe that he'd be able to keep his original(and sucessful) save. It's great that you're trying to please everyone, but if the tactics were interpereted differently then it's Sindorin's fault and as a pitlord you're not required to rerun due to every misinterperatation. It is the job of the player to write clear and concise tactics, not of the pitlord to decipher unclear ones. Just my two cents on the matter. If Sindorin's character wants to buff up, that's fine, but give Gurvix the save and go from there.

@All: Can you use entangle twice to cause two saves to be made every round?

@Kaigan: Secondly, you had me double move away in round 4 when I should be running. When I said "gets too close," I meant "able to reach me." Also I should be drawing the wand while running. If in melee, I should be Withdrawing with no AoO.

Lastly, the Gold and XP were not calculated correctly. If both gladiators bring allies it no longer cancels out the penalties, unless they bring the same level ally. So this needs to be changed.

Okay, I have read over the fight a few times. I have no idea what finally ended up happening, aside from much confusion, but I have some concerns, and I am sure that there is some frustration all the way around....

As I read it, and understand everything, in round 3, Desdenova is a Troglodyte with an AC 20 (Base 10 + 5 Armor + 6 Natural - 1 Dex), meaning that DW would crit for (3 + 6 + 4Str) x3 = 39 Damage, for the kill!

<------------------------------------------->

Looking at everything surrounding the fight I have come to the conclusion that the whole fight should be dropped and that some issues should be researched and debated.

It would be unfair for either of us to resubmit tactics after having seen the others tactics.

Xanadu obviously has some concerns about the whole undead ally thing, and perhaps the concerns are justified - I have my own thoughts to weigh in on this topic.

I do not think anyone will ever be happy with the end results of this fight. It has been pointed out that if the Skeleton had not been in the fight that Desdenova would have began the fight with cover elsewhere; good in theory, but since we have random starting positions, and what-not, this is tough to plan for and my cit in round 3 could very well still be valid. Or without the cover of the skeleton Desdenova would not have been standing there buffing for as long - especially under fire - and would have wasted some rounds running away - this is a big issue with the speed difference.

Once the fight has been settled, let me know and I will chime in with more thoughts.

@Sindorin - Please let me know how the beginning of the fight re-unfolds, or if the fight is dropped.....

Megrim, first of all, calm down. It is a CoC violation to use censored words even if they will be censored.

About the fight: It is clearly defined in the FAQ: Allies how many allies you can bring along in a fight. Vetrinus is ECL 7. That means you can bring in allies of up to ECL 5. Since your thrall is a class ally, you can bring him in even though he uses up more of your allowed ally capacity. In any case, your maximum ally capacity has been reached by bringing in your thrall. There is no place for the lackeys. If you want to use the lackeys, you can use 5 of them (5*ECL1 = ECL 5) and not a mouse more.

You've been granted a lot in this fight anyway: you were allowed to have a free thrall even though it was clearly in the FAQ that you need to quest on him. Spasheridan is still questing for his thrall. I have to admit that you were right about the thrall coming automatically and the FAQ has been changed accordingly already but at the time you created Vetrinus, there should have been no thrall. I allowed you to have him. Same for the believers.

Your thrall and all your believers use the 36 pt-buy method. It is in the FAQ and all other cohorts - no matter which one on the roster - uses 25 pt-buy aswell. Instead of sending me and Pittbull the updated 25 pt-buy stats so that I can write my tactic and Pittbull run the fight, you discussed on and on from wednesday right after the pairings till saturday without sending the new abilities. I guess I asked you 5 times for the stats and I still don't know them. Pittbull asked you about them too and just yesterday (monday) he sent you another PM, again, no stats in your answer PM. I don't think it is fair that you now harp away on Pittbull when he has waited till monday evening and stayed at work (where his computer is) just to wait for your stats which you could have sent him anytime during the last 6 days! You should rather thank him!

Another thing that has been granted to you is the possibility to rebuild Vetrinus after this fight and change him completely. I assure you this is nothing that goes without saying! Yet again, instead of being satisfied with asking for some changes in the build, you requested a complete refund of any item that you were about to use in the fight. You could have blown out up to 5000 gp in that fight with no consequences. Such a request seems very unreasonable to me, especially if we take into consideration that you requested all that just because your allies cannot use 36 but 25 pt-buy for their abilities.

And now you request a rerun because the Core Coliseum Rules don't allow you to bring in 16 allies. I think you should be rather glad that you can now rebuild Vetrinus and his allies, that your allies were available at all, and that your pitlord waited that long, instead of asking for more requests! But what annoys me is the way to talk to Pittbull! He is one of the most respected members on this board and is an absolutely nice person! He surely doesn't deserve such a treatment with all your sarcasm and censored words!

Alright, on to some nicer words from my side too. @All: Can you use entangle twice to cause two saves to be made every round? ]

This has come up before, and I believe the verdict was that you cannot entangle twice for two saves. They can make the entangle area greater, but not force two saves.

@Kaigan: Secondly, you had me double move away in round 4 when I should be running. When I said "gets too close," I meant "able to reach me." Also I should be drawing the wand while running. If in melee, I should be Withdrawing with no AoO.

At your position, running would have been a bad option. You can only run in a straight line. Merman has a double move speed of 160 feet, or a run of a lot more. If you ran, the same thing would have happened.

Lastly, the Gold and XP were not calculated correctly. If both gladiators bring allies it no longer cancels out the penalties, unless they bring the same level ally. So this needs to be changed.

Let me tell you what I did yesterday: I worked from 8 am to 7 pm in my practice and then waited for you to reply until 9 pm, that means I stayed in work for you to have a chance to send me a new tactic. You must know, I live 60 km away from my working-place and have no computer at home. After 9 pm I got tired waiting and started to run the fight, because I hate delays! I was very surprised how the fight ended, you can believe me. But if you have any concerns, please tell me and I'll do everything possible to fix it, if I have enough time. Another possible option is to reset your character, fix it to current law and we'll do a rematch next week, if Cat likes.

When you assume alter self form, your stats dont change so the AC is 23 wo/ cover. Desdenova would only need to seek cover until she cast the shield scroll in the next round, after which only a 20 hits her. I did tell Sindorin to buff behind cover or out of LOS until only a 20 can hit, I believe Sindorin artificially simulated moving my starting position or simply taking a move action to acquire cover without actually editing the positions. I personally do not think finding cover for 2-3 rounds against an archer over 100 feet away is particually difficult to imagine after which "the great chase" would begin. If anything, because of such cover and blocking of LOS, an archer would have to get *closer* in order to shoot, which makes Desdenova's job of closing distance easier.

I hear what you are saying about round 3, but if that shot is taken at all [starting in back row against wall or in one of the corner, use move action to block LOS, etc] it would be against AC 27 [10 +5 armor +6 natural +2 dex +4 cover]. As it was I only had 2 HPs at the end, the fight really could have gone either way.

3. You're right, I should thank PB, and I do, but I should think my character could have done something more useful with his 22 Int than stand around and wait to get killed by a horse. And it should have been rather obvious to Kaelius that Vetrinus was being attacked, considering he was the only other invisible being in the vicinity.

4. I NEVER asked for a complete refund, or at least it was NOT in any way my intention to imply that. all I wanted was to change the build

In round 3 DW hits for an additional 4 points of damage. The bow is a mighty +4 bow, which was not included, so when you are dropped to 2 points, you actually drop to -1. DW wins.

@Cat/Sindorin - Please correct this fight!

Now that you agree to let the fight stand as is, Round 13 is really "6"+7 damage, not "6"+4 and Round 15 is really "8"+7 damage, not “8”+4 because of bull's strength, which means death in round 23.

@Pitlords: Please nullify Dunewalker vs Desdenova.

This arguement has gone on for a while now and it can go on and on. I will not begin to speak for Xanadu, but I can speak for myself when I say that I went into this battle believing that Desdenova was going to be equipped and supported in one manner and the fight was ultimately ran in a completely different manner; Desdenova's character sheet had Skeleton's listed, so I planned for ranged combat without DW's Dog. As it turned out, Desdenova did not have any allies, and therefore I could have given more thought to DW's Dog and melee combat as well as ... well, you know - other strategies.

Now that you agree to let the fight stand as is, Round 13 is really "6"+7 damage, not "6"+4 and Round 15 is really "8"+7 damage, not “8”+4 because of bull's strength, which means zero HPs in Round 16 or death in round 23.

If you read my earlier posts I asked that it be dropped all together, especially considering all of the facts going into the fight.

Let's see if I can find what I said.....

Looking at everything surrounding the fight I have come to the conclusion that the whole fight should be dropped and that some issues should be researched and debated.

I keep pointing out issues since they are there; had I known that you would have no allies, my tactics would have been different! So, now that I know where we all stand on this fight, I am requesting that it finally be dropped and both characters be reset to pre-fight status. Desdenova was an illegal character entering the battle; with this knowledge, and an understanding of what is allowed and proper for the character, I would have made different choices. We can debate ALL DAY about what is and what is not.

I DO NOT AGREE TO LET THE FIGHT STAND AS IS!

LL, if I remember correctly from our conversation, you said that you were in such a rush that you didn't notice half of the stuff she had. I also remember you saying that you do concede the fight to xanadu...

Which will it be? What you say to me, or what you post in unnessecarily huge lettering?

I don't care either way right now.

My bad, but looking at the fight, you rolled damage for the CDG, Gurvix made the fort save and lived to kill his enemy. Is it right that this time around he dies instead?

Unfortunatly, yes. I completely reran the fight, and the old fight holds no bearing. I know it sucks to have your victory taken away by a technicality, I've been there too. All I can really do is wish you well in future fights. :(

Woot! Hagrid vs Griff story is up here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6408658&postcount=3).

The length of the text in this editted post has got me thinking...is there anything else in a fight that should belong within an sblock?

@ Jindl

Thanks for getting the fight up.

Gold and xp awards should be for an ECL 4 fight though. I'm sure we would
both like the extra xp/gold for a higher level fight but that is not to be. :)

Expansion of Ixenthor vs Rayos (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6437799) is up. (the lowest sblock)

Those entering the my Campaign, "The Arbiter War", might want to look it over as well.

I really think since he was willing to accept the fight's result when DW appeared to win he should accept the fight's result in any event. I know that had the bull's strength error not been detected my gladiator would have been pegged with a loss despite all the circumstances.

Wow! THanks Huan for this story. Please put it at the top and remove the spoiler block (in fact, enclose the fight in the spoiler block)!

That's definately worth a credit!

Thank you very much. :) Done.

But, I am only starting to get back into my 'groove.' Expect quality from me to get better... and another story tonight for last week's Indri vs Zubair fight.

@Xanadu/MadCow: I've checked the issue. The result of this fight is that Dunewalker wins because he should have used his rage in melee which adds 3 points of damage, bringing Desdenova to -1.

But Brian, that is the one and only reason for my decision. Without that, there wouldn't have been a dissolving (never happened in the coco) nor a rerun. You didn't mention the undead with a word in your tactic, not even your own dog. And ranged combat was your best option anyway and bought you a lot of free shots and infact without the 9 damage from the arrows you would have lost. If you would rage and melee and considering that Desdenova could drop you with 2 hits, I suggest, for your own sake, that we all quickly forget that you requested a new tactic where you wade into melee right away...

Here's how we do it: Desdenova goes on her quest and edits her sheet accordingly after the quest. Same for Dunewalker.

The fight has been changed to add the rage.
