| TaggIIV05-05-05, 05:52 PM | According to his character sheet, The Ripper is ECL 5. This bumps him up to face Aeiou, and allows Nyphanalith to fight someone? |
| Megrim_Lord05-05-05, 06:35 PM | Tactics for Salvador sent to Kaigan Tactics for Trokk sent to Pittbull @ Cat: Merman is a bastard, and here I was just worried about fighting uhmentarywhatever :) |
| Snommelp05-05-05, 06:35 PM | I'm not complaining, but it's probably unfair for Cedric to still be fighting in the ECL 3 league, since he's ECL 4. |
| Malither7605-05-05, 06:37 PM | Tagg mabie you should send a pm to pitlords, I would like to know who Gareth must fight soon so I can do tactics :), also Snommelp and TaggIIV get me your tactics quick and fight will be done quick thanks all |
| xanadu05-05-05, 06:42 PM | The Ripper has 10000 XP. You dont need 10001 for level 5 do you? Xanadu pitlorded two fights while addressing the respective gladiators concerns so should get 2 credits. |
| King Uther05-05-05, 06:44 PM | @Kingside_Bishop Tactics for Cyalin Orndrill have been sent via PM @Sindorin Tactics for quest have been sent. If anything changes or I need to elaborate, just PM me. |
| Kingside_Bishop05-05-05, 06:50 PM | @ King Uther: Tactics for Cyalin received. |
| TaggIIV05-05-05, 06:51 PM | Alright, a PM sent to pitlords account about both Ripper and Cedric. (both of which coincidentally affect both of my 2 gladiators...) |
| Snommelp05-05-05, 06:58 PM | Thanks, Tagg. Tactics for Quixote have been sent; tactics for Cedric will wait until the level thing is sorted out. You are guaranteed both fights though, Tagg, since every league has one person sitting out. |
| Salrantol05-05-05, 07:06 PM | @Snommelp: Tactics received. @Iced: Tactics for Horthek Bolgimzak sent via PM. |
| Pitlords05-05-05, 07:13 PM | Ok, thanks Tagg. Due to some mistakes on the Roster and some complaints about the pitlord assignment I have changed the pairings a bit. Please check for any differences. The pairings below are the new ones. | Sindorin05-05-05, 08:00 PM | @Sindorin Tactics for quest have been sent. If anything changes or I need to elaborate, just PM me. Everything is good to go, you laid it out very well for me. This is going to be a fun story to write. |
| Salrantol05-05-05, 08:12 PM | @Kingside_Bishop: Tactics for Meinrad the Many-Fisted sent via PM. @Pitlords: I pitlorded 3 fights last week (was added one late in the week) and only received 2 credits for running them. |

| TaggIIV05-05-05, 09:37 PM | Tactics for Gatekeeper PMd to Malither I'm going to run my fight on Saturday ideally so just get tactics to me sometime by then, please. |

| Malither7605-06-05, 12:31 AM | @tagg, tactics for gatekeeper received, one question is this for your new opponent Ga'al Arc'ilwi, if so just waiting on Kaigan's if you need to change your tactics just send me a new pm, writing Gareths tactics now Xandue, your pm box is full I have tactics for you but it said you don't wish to be emailed so yeah when ever you deleat some stuff I can send you tactics |
| xanadu05-06-05, 02:21 AM | @tagg, tactics for gatekeeper received, one question is this for your new opponent Ga'al Arc'ilwi, if so just waiting on Kaigan's if you need to change your tactics just send me a new pm, writing Gareths tactics now Xandue, your pm box is full I have tactics for you but it said you don't wish to be emailed so yeah when ever you deleat some stuff I can send you tactics Malither76 - Ok send your tactics now. I think the dont wish to email thing is not really a dont email the pitlord but a generic message from the pitlord administator saying if you email, be careful to change the address to @ [a measure to block unwanted soliciters] |
| Salrantol05-06-05, 02:24 AM | Don Quixote de la Mancha (sans Sancho Panza) vs. Brilf Zephyr (sans Northwind) is up (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=6111073#post6111073) in a very rough fashion. If there are problems, I'll try to fix them, but I'm going out of town for the weekend, so don't expect it to be fixed prior to Monday. It all came down to the fact that one side of the board got all of the 20s (probably because Rozinante gets as many attacks as the other two combined). I'd narrate more but I need sleep like viruses need hosts. |
| Malither7605-06-05, 02:46 AM | @xandue, tactics for gareth sent |
| Pitlords05-06-05, 05:00 AM | Don Quixote de la Mancha (sans Sancho Panza) vs. Brilf Zephyr (sans Northwind) is up (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=6111073#post6111073) in a very rough fashion. It all came down to the fact that one side of the board got all of the 20s (probably because Rozinante gets as many attacks as the other two combined). I'd narrate more but I need sleep like viruses need hosts. Brilf gets 400 gp and xp for fighting someone with an ally. |
| Snommelp05-06-05, 05:47 AM | Pitlords is correct; Brilf gets extra money just like I lost money. Considering how much he used, he's gonna need the extra cash. Although he did good getting Quixote down to 3 hp. I applaud him for that. @ xanadu: tactics for Cedric sent. |
| Huan05-06-05, 08:56 AM | @Caterane Tactics for Uhmentarymster recieved, thank you. Now that my university activities are concluded for a little while (the reason I've been quiet recently), I will likely get this fight started tonight. |
| Sunwolf05-06-05, 09:47 AM | @Salrantol On Brilf vs Don fight Alchemist fire does 1d6 on a direct hit *and* on the next round an additional 1d6 unless he takes a fullround action and makes a DC15 reflex save to avoid the effects of the second round damage. Also a miss does 1 point to everyone w/in 5' of where ever the flask landed. Brilf hit the Don 4 times (on rnd 10,11,12,14) but only got 4d6 of damage. -- Even if it was min damage on each of the extra dice it would put the Don to unconscious -- I would have been able to hit him easier (0 dex and probably prone) and not taken the crit hit in rnd 17. Average damage kills the Don. He is likely unconscious in rnd 15 at the latest -- earlier depending on the extra damage. |
| Kingside_Bishop05-06-05, 11:43 AM | The first 10 rounds of Cyalin vs. Meinrad are up (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6112744&postcount=1526). If you guys want to adjust your tactics based on what's happenned, go ahead and PM me. If there's any problems, please let me know. Thanks! |
| Jindl05-06-05, 11:46 AM | The first 10 rounds of Cyalin vs. Meinrad are up (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6112744&postcount=1526). If you guys want to adjust your tactics based on what's happenned, go ahead and PM me. If there's any problems, please let me know. Thanks! @Kingside - We don't allow players to adjust their tactics. It offers an unfair advantage if one player happens to be available on the boards and the other isn't. Please complete the fight with the tactics you recieved. -Jindl |
| Jindl05-06-05, 11:47 AM | @Jindl: If you give me the permission, I would like to refund Laph's special arrows (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=4907091) and buy 5 elven bane arrows for 835 gp and 1 credit. @Pittbull - I'm not sure giving you permission to buy elven bane arrows after you're paired against my elf character is the smartest thing for me to do. Let me think about it. -Jindl |
| Caterane05-06-05, 11:58 AM | Elder Bane Arrows :D |
| Pittbull05-06-05, 12:05 PM | Since it was your action to give The Elder a constitution-bonus to increase his HPs, it's half your idea to buy these arrows. The Elder is giving me so much motivation and inspirition to make Laph, who is build to kill elven casters (Heinrich is his main goal!), better. I took allready psionic shot to increase the damage and bane arrows are the next step. The new rule might be too late, but I thought, arrows aren't affected by the "charged items"-rule, if I've known that I would have asked for that rule before. So, nevertheless, it's yours and the pitlord's decission to give me the permission and I'll accept every outcome. Even with the arrows it'll be almost the same chance to win for The Elder as for Laph, but Laph's chances to win are decreased dramatically if he hasn't the arrows. So give me your vote, I'll wait with my tactic. |
| Pitlords05-06-05, 12:17 PM | Inside Jindl: It would only be fair  :thinks:  Don't give him an advantage! |
| Pittbull05-06-05, 12:27 PM | I'm leaving now for my girlfriend's grandfather's birthday party and write my tacitc when I'm back. Nice greetings from KiKi (my girl-friend)! |
| Jindl05-06-05, 12:42 PM | @Pittbull - My main concern is that with an elven bane arrow, psionic shot, and a deepcrystal bow, Laph could win initiative, fly 60 ft to get LOS, then shoot the Elder dealing 7d6+3 damage, which is another 1 shot kill (like the Elder vs Rayos). So I tell you what, I'll agree to let you make the change if you promise not to shoot in Rnd 1. -Jindl |
| Pitlords05-06-05, 01:14 PM | Archangel Ixenthor (Caterane) vs Sokai Calanis (Sindorin): Kaigan has been added to the roster. Caterane+Sindorin -1°, Kaigan+1° @Pittbull: Greets back, and ask KiKi if she wants to join the CoCo :) |
| Sindorin05-06-05, 01:42 PM | I shouldn't lose a credit because Sokai is only my second active character this week; Ceres' fight was extended from last week. |
| Pitlords05-06-05, 02:02 PM | I shouldn't lose a credit because Sokai is only my second active character this week; Ceres' fight was extended from last week. Ok |
| Zyme8605-06-05, 02:15 PM | due to problems withe daka that need attaneion, please allow me to withdraw and Nyphanalith, the odd man out to take my stead. |
| Sindorin05-06-05, 02:37 PM | Tactics for Sokai have been sent to Kaigan. Last week I fought Jindl twice with two level 6's. This week I fight Caterane twice with a level 5 and a level 6. In terms of Va'ria and Uhmentarymster, Va'ria is like Uhmentarymster's evil little sister almost, they are both level 5 diviners... that should be an interesting fight... Anyway, I just thought it was interesting how the past two weeks have put me up against really tough builds. The level 5 and 6 fields are pretty tough. Good luck Caterane! |
| Jindl05-06-05, 02:39 PM | Anyway, I just thought it was interesting how the past two weeks have put me up against really tough builds. The level 5 and 6 fields are pretty tough. No kidding. And I've had to face that evil little pixie 4 times in the last 2 levels. |
| Snommelp05-06-05, 04:15 PM | @Salrantol On Brilf vs Don fight Alchemist fire does 1d6 on a direct hit *and* on the next round an additional 1d6 unless he takes a fullround action and makes a DC15 reflex save to avoid the effects of the second round damage. Also a miss does 1 point to everyone w/in 5' of where ever the flask landed. Average damage kills the Don. He is likely unconscious in rnd 15 at the latest -- earlier depending on the extra damage. You make a good point. However, change "probably prone" to "possibly prone." The Don has a military saddle, which gives him a 75% chance to stay on Rozinante when knocked unconscious. You predict the Don being KOed in round 15 "at the latest." From round 12 to round 15, Quixote is mounted. If he didn't fall out of his saddle (likely), then you would still have to face the wrath of Rozinante if you wanted to hit the Don, and the 0 dex would only drop his AC to 20. None of your attacks after round 14 would have hit AC 20, and apart from the 5 point critical from Don Quixote, it was really Rozinante who did the killing. I think you still lose. |
| Pittbull05-06-05, 04:21 PM | @Pittbull - My main concern is that with an elven bane arrow, psionic shot, and a deepcrystal bow, Laph could win initiative, fly 60 ft to get LOS, then shoot the Elder dealing 7d6+3 damage, which is another 1 shot kill (like the Elder vs Rayos). So I tell you what, I'll agree to let you make the change if you promise not to shoot in Rnd 1. -Jindl Yes, this was my tactic! But I won't make any promises, so I won't buy the arrows this week, but next. All special arrows will be refunded. But be careful with 5d6+1 you can still get 7-31 points of damage and I'll advice you to start prone. I think this tactic is legal, by the way, how many one-shot wins did you have with icestorm, magic missile (CL9) and enlarged energy ray? OK, now I start writing the tactic..... |
| spasheridan05-06-05, 04:21 PM | due to problems withe daka that need attaneion, please allow me to withdraw and Nyphanalith, the odd man out to take my stead.Nuts. Daka's an Orc (Finael's favored enemy) while Nyphanalith is a druid.. that would be the 3rd druid in a row for Finael. Druids are too tough for a poor ranger! I think you're fixes are doable Zyme, get your feats squared away and double check the accounting, I'm fine with you posting the changes to your sheet if that's OK with TaggIIV. Since we're both melee types the battle should be fairly easy for TaggIIV to run.. unless I do super stealth. :) Up to you though. |
| Pittbull05-06-05, 04:51 PM | @Spash: Tactic has been sent via PM. Thanks a lot! |
| Pitlords05-06-05, 04:55 PM | Sindorin gets a second credit for running the Short Quest in a seperate thread (similar to a Long Quest). That's a valid option and makes the Short Quest more interesting. |
| TaggIIV05-06-05, 04:59 PM | Nuts. Daka's an Orc (Finael's favored enemy) while Nyphanalith is a druid.. that would be the 3rd druid in a row for Finael. Druids are too tough for a poor ranger! Since we're both melee types the battle should be fairly easy for TaggIIV to run.. unless I do super stealth. :) Up to you though. It would probably be easier if Daka could just fix stats. Considering Nyphanalith is my character, I can't really pitlord for him too. At least, not to Finael's satisfaction. :p |
| Pitlords05-06-05, 05:01 PM | Right, I would have to switch Tagg with another Pitlord who exchange tactics, and it's already friday night so better fix the sheet. |
| Jindl05-06-05, 05:26 PM | Yes, this was my tactic! But I won't make any promises, so I won't buy the arrows this week, but next. All special arrows will be refunded. I think this tactic is legal, by the way, how many one-shot wins did you have with icestorm, magic missile (CL9) and enlarged energy ray? OK, now I start writing the tactic..... A few 1-hit kills, but never was it a 1st round kill. Losing before you get to act really is quite frustrating. @Spash - Um, would you give us Init rolls for the Elder vs Laph? |
| Sunwolf05-06-05, 05:27 PM | You make a good point. However, change "probably prone" to "possibly prone." I think you still lose. *Minimum* damage is on 4d6 is 4points -- average damage is 14 which would put the Don at -11 at round 15. Even if he isn't dead, he still needs to stabilize. Again, Brilf would not be hit in round 17 for 21 hp by the Don's critical. No arguement about staying in the saddle. 0 dex is -5 AC modifier so from 21 AC to 16AC. Also if the Don stays in the saddle while unconscious and his horse keeps fighting -- it stands to reason that the chance to fall should be checked each round. If he falls that is another 1d6 damage. I think that there is a good chance that the result is different. |

| spasheridan05-06-05, 05:46 PM | @Spash - Um, would you give us Init rolls for the Elder vs Laph?I'm going to point out something on this init rolling. You're starting actions should be the same no matter what your init is. So, if you start prone if you loose init you will start prone if you win or loose init. If you want to cast invisbility from a scroll if you win init you will start with it in hand if you win or loose init. If you want to shoot your bow if you win init, you start with it in your hand if you win or loose init.. you can run out of limbs this way. In some cases (threatened with a 1st round kill) there's a big diferance between winning and loosing init but you wouldn't know until the bell rang.... Is this already thought about we still let people see Init before tactics are sent? |
| Salrantol05-06-05, 05:55 PM | @Salrantol On Brilf vs Don fight Alchemist fire does 1d6 on a direct hit *and* on the next round an additional 1d6 unless he takes a fullround action and makes a DC15 reflex save to avoid the effects of the second round damage. When facing a PC whose M.O. is to single move to within LOS then ready an action to interrupt spellcasting, yes your tactics may differ depending on whether you win or lose init. Regardless, I just PM'd the tactics for the Elder (hoping that he wins init for once...) -Jindl |
| Malither7605-06-05, 07:18 PM | still waiting on tactics from Kaigan, this is my first fight guys so how long do I need to wait before I can run the fight without his tactics |
| Megrim_Lord05-06-05, 07:20 PM | til tomorrow I think |
| Zyme8605-06-05, 07:41 PM | I will correct mistakes on the sheet tonight |

I have till Saturday Morning to send you tactics. And guess us people that have stuff to do in RL to be on the boards all the time. |

| Salrantol05-06-05, 09:48 PM | From Fights thread: Round Four:...Meinrad stowes his scroll of many spells (which now in fact only holds enlarge person), and draws his scroll of invisibility. ... Round Five:...Meinrad stowes his scroll of many spells (which now in fact only holds enlarge person), and draws his scroll of invisibility. I believe I was only holding one copy of Meinrad's scroll of many spells at that time, so I probably don't need to stow it twice. Also, Don Quixote vs. Brilf Zephyr updated (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6111073&postcount=1525). I hope that resolves things, and man I wish I'd spotted the extra damage last night, could have saved me like 2 hours. :weep: |

Here (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicMonsters.html#psicrystal)Is a link to a psicrystal. Use Gareth's BAB instead of the psicrystals, but remember the strength penalty that the crystal has... their attack bonus is pathetic. Also, the psicrystal is very small so it has to enter the square of it's target to deliver an attack. |
| Kaigan05-07-05, 02:00 AM | I have received tactics from: MegrimLord xanadu sindorin bgt Caterane I still need tactics from the other gladiator, the one fighting Rakkar, and can I get them by tomorrow, or you get default tacitcs. I have sent tactics to: xanadu for Coralias Iced for Eiletha I am sending tactics for: Ga'al Aeiou Rayos In the next 30-45 mins |
| Kaigan05-07-05, 03:03 AM | All tactics have been sent. Now I'm waiting on Captain Mutilate. What I've noticed, and I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but Captain Mutilate always sends his tacitcs in late, sometimes Sunday afternoon. I'd just like to make a public announcement for his benefit, that I will be running his fight, as well as my others tomorrow, Saturday, and if they are not in my email, or preferably my PM box, then he's running on default. Also, the psicrystal is very small so it has to enter the square of it's target to deliver an attack.Actually a Psicrystal uses 3/4 BAB because it's a construct, has a -5 STR Penalty, and a +4 Size bonus to hit. This would give his Psicrystal an attack bonus of +1 [+2 BAB, +4 Size, -5 STR]. KerlanRayne |
| xanadu05-07-05, 04:35 AM | Gareth vs. Cedric (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6118700) is up. Thanks to Spa and KerlanRayne for the psicrystal stuff. Still might want to check that out as I am sure there are errors in there somewhere. |

Still might want to check that out as I am sure there are errors in there somewhere. Why did Miracle's 5-foot step cause an AoO in round 5? @ Sal: Cursed touch attacks! Perhaps Quixote should buy a CLW potion or two... |
| Pitlords05-07-05, 05:21 AM | @Snommelp: Just to make sure there won't be any mistakes next week: the Don is ECL 3 again after his loss. |
| Snommelp05-07-05, 01:56 PM | @Snommelp: Just to make sure there won't be any mistakes next week: the Don is ECL 3 again after his loss. Yeah, I know. I'll bring him back down a level before pairings, I promise. |
| xanadu05-07-05, 02:24 PM | Why did Miracle's 5-foot step cause an AoO in round 5? @ Sal: Cursed touch attacks! Perhaps Quixote should buy a CLW potion or two... Because Gareth took a 5 foot step while drawing his sword [+1 BAB requirement] and once in his new square readied an attack against an approach. I think this manuever is legal, though I am not sure if Miracle should get an AOO for Gareth drawing his sword (even though he did so while performing a safe 5 foot step). If I am wrong, please let me know. |

I think this manuever is legal, though I am not sure if Miracle should get an AOO for Gareth drawing his sword (even though he did so while performing a safe 5 foot step). If I am wrong, please let me know. Ah, I see. If it was a readied action, though, it is not an AoO. That's what confused me; the fact that you labeled it as such. Looks perfectly legal to me, now. |

KerlanRayne EDIT: Nevermind. Got them mixed up. |
| Zyme8605-07-05, 04:25 PM | FYI Since Daka was unable to withdraw from the fight, the following changes are required. Switch skill focus for powerattack, this alows the character to become playable. |
| spasheridan05-07-05, 08:59 PM | FYI Since Daka was unable to withdraw from the fight, the following changes are required. Switch skill focus for powerattack, this alows the character to become playable.Loosing skillfocus means loosing the ability to craft adamantine items, so you would not have the adamantine gear. If I were you I would drop improved sunder and take power attack, or drop die hard instead and take power attack with that. |
| Zyme8605-07-05, 09:59 PM | Yes, keep skill focus, drop the diehard tract and reallocate to impinit and power attack That sould clear things up |
| spasheridan05-07-05, 10:15 PM | OK, cool. I've sent my tactics to Tagg, send yours in! |
| Snommelp05-07-05, 10:20 PM | Yes, keep skill focus, drop the diehard tract and reallocate to impinit and power attack That sould clear things up Except that you cannot drop Diehard because it has been used in a prior fight. Sorry about that, but we've got to keep things fair. |
| Salzorin05-07-05, 11:16 PM | Yep, have to back snommelp up on that one... diehard did win the fight for you against him earlier, so you can't possibly switch it out for another feat now... |
| Zyme8605-07-05, 11:59 PM | I will not use the ada sword, and switch the skill focus for power attack. I sould not be punnished for mistakes made by a pitlord, I had already made the changes to the character when orignal fight was run, I will protest this untill I get an official rulling from Cathraine |

I sould not be punnished for mistakes made by a pitlord, I had already made the changes to the character when orignal fight was run, I will protest this untill I get an official rulling from Cathraine You certainly have the right to protest, but I fail to see how any mistake was made on Salrantol's part. Don Quixote struck at Daka until Daka killed Quixote, and at that time Daka was at -2 hp. The only complaint you had, Sal explained. |
| Kaigan05-08-05, 01:34 AM | I need tactics from the Captain, and from Kerlan Rayne now! Please. |
| xanadu05-08-05, 05:33 AM | Coralias vs Telveran (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6125193) is up. I'll be buying a potion of blur for all my gladiators after pitlording this. Just so I am sure; if a gladiators tries to hide and their source of cover is removed by an enemy who moves, they are spotted unless they snipe? That is how I ran this fight. If that is not the case, Cora would be able to get about 4 more shots in, but with Telv's concealment and biofeedback; it's difficult for a low-strength sneak attacker to do much damage. |
| Kaigan05-08-05, 11:27 AM | ignore.... |
| Kaigan05-08-05, 11:46 AM | @Xanadu: Just wondering if you calculated my +4 to Ac from mobility in the killing blow. |
| xanadu05-08-05, 02:00 PM | @Xanadu: Just wondering if you calculated my +4 to Ac from mobility in the killing blow. I did not! I love it when bad feats make a difference! The fight will continue... |
| Malither7605-08-05, 02:32 PM | @xandue, sorry for not having my psicrystal stats on sheet. you did a good job anyways but I will update sheet with the stats thanks. running fight of Gatekeeper and Ga'al now |
| Kaigan05-08-05, 04:23 PM | Li'Onus vs. Rakkar is up. Please check it out for mistakes. Easy fight, really short. This is what happens when you don't send in tactics, and when you don't have default tactics. I apologize to Captain Mutilate, however, I simply cannot wait till Sunday evening or Monday morning for tactics, especially this week. You must have them to your pitlord by friday. |
| TaggIIV05-08-05, 04:41 PM | I believe Rakkar takes an xp/gp cut for using an ally |
| Kaigan05-08-05, 04:47 PM | You are correct, thanks |
| Malither7605-08-05, 05:39 PM | Ga'al v.s. The Gatekeeper is up let me know if there are any mistakes thanks. oh and can some one tell me how to link the fight I'm still kind of new to the boards thanks |
| xanadu05-08-05, 08:37 PM | Coralias vs Telveran (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6125193) new version is up. I want to be fair to both gladiators, even if one of mine didn't get the same treatment last week for some reason - especially so since the result of the fight changed. Thus involved and curious parties should check for errors as playing hiding gladuiators can be difficult. |
| Kaigan05-09-05, 12:56 AM | Janelle vs. Zubair is up. I'm really sorry for the loser, but with the new arena changes this should not happen again. |
| cellardweller05-09-05, 01:23 AM | Janelle vs. Zubair is up. I'm really sorry for the loser, but with the new arena changes this should not happen again. Glad I didn't bring in a horse :D |
| Kaigan05-09-05, 02:07 AM | Ixenthor vs. Sokai is up. Fairly close, except for allies. Hope nothing is wrong with it. I will not be able to change any mistakes till tuesday, so if there are any major, fight changing mistakes please PM me, thanks. |

I will not be able to change any mistakes till tuesday, so if there are any major, fight changing mistakes please PM me, thanks. Thanks for running the fight, Kaigan. I knew it was going to be close, and I was sitting here yesteday thinking "hmm, maybe I should have reconsidered how Sokai was going to spend those precious power points." Oh well, I learned my lesson for that one... Lesson learned: The 1/3 rule is very brutal... |
| Pittbull05-09-05, 06:26 AM | Merman vs. Trokk (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6132973&postcount=1533) is up! |

I will not be able to change any mistakes till tuesday, so if there are any major, fight changing mistakes please PM me, thanks. Hey Kaigan - I think Ixenthor's dire bat ally may have been illegal this week. The limit is still CR=ECL-5, I think (although I heard its changing soon). The direbat is CR2, Ixenthor is ECL6, see the problem? -Jindl |
| Sunwolf05-09-05, 09:32 AM | @xanadu Comments on Telveran vs Coralias fight Overall pretty good job at running the fight. Thicken skin is 10min/level not 1min/per level so Telverans min AC should be 19 through out the fight (or till round 101). And his AC should be 1 higher for every round after 11. Even flat foot his min AC is 19 (can't see how he got a 16AC for a while) . On the other hand, biofeedback ML1 only lasted till end of round 14 not round 34. Not sure how she hit me in round 28 if my ac was 22(cover bonus?). Couldn't tell if she could hit in round 17. Attack in round 34 should not hit though --it only hit AC 18 not AC19. If you have time take a look to see if this changes anything. Not having biofeedback may shorten the fight some (saving me resources :) ) or negating some of the attacks with the higher AC may give Telveran the extra attack he needs to win... However, If you don't have time just say so and let the result stand. Sunwolf Will remember in the future to add a statment on preference on kind of attacks. Tripping w/o the feat is not great but it is something to do against a speedier foe. Missed the mobility feat or I wouldn't have bothered. FYI -- Telveran is angleing for the divine might feat which is one reason to have the power attack feat. Improved trip is on the list too but he didn't have the feats to get it yet. |
| Caterane05-09-05, 10:57 AM | Hey Kaigan - I think Ixenthor's dire bat ally may have been illegal this week. The limit is still CR=ECL-5, I think (although I heard its changing soon). The direbat is CR2, Ixenthor is ECL6, see the problem? -Jindl Ah right, I was already at ECL-4. I would have brought the horse instead which is faster, hits better, and deals more damage so no change. MerMan vs Trokk: Another critical. Like the 20! 20! last week. Or the week before that. Hey, didn't I tell you I am cursed!! Indri vs Rayos: Oh and this time I fail both saves vs entangle (incl luck reroll) and get stuck till the end of the fight. Wow. As I said, I think my constant bad luck becomes really ridiculous. I have no idea why everyone is afraid of my builds. You can count on a natural 20 or a 1 for my guys in a critical moment. :bored: |
| Sindorin05-09-05, 11:02 AM | Well, I guess your bad luck inverted against Sokai :). |

| Sindorin05-09-05, 12:38 PM | Nothing beats Erkatis Mori with the drow poison knocking himself out. |
| xanadu05-09-05, 01:23 PM | @xanadu Comments on Telveran vs Coralias fight Overall pretty good job at running the fight. Thicken skin is 10min/level not 1min/per level so Telverans min AC should be 19 through out the fight (or till round 101). That's what I get for not double-checking powers I'm not very familiar with. And his AC should be 1 higher for every round after 11. Even flat foot his min AC is 19 (can't see how he got a 16AC for a while) . Charging gives minus 2. Though with the skin it should be 17. On the other hand, biofeedback ML1 only lasted till end of round 14 not round 34. Hmm. OK, didn't know it was ML 1 for psi-warriors and ML 2 for psions. Between the thicken skin lasting too short and the biofeedback lasting too long; let's call it a wash. All the extra +2 HPs she'd be doing after round 14; Telv is still on the good side of my mess up. Not sure how she hit me in round 28 if my ac was 22(cover bonus?). Couldn't tell if she could hit in round 17. Copy & pasting old ACs. No cover, it should read 18 (really 19 w/ skin but that doesn't matter). Attack in round 34 should not hit though --it only hit AC 18 not AC19. I think you mean round 39. Actually, your AC here is 17 because you charged the previous round. If you have time take a look to see if this changes anything. Not having biofeedback may shorten the fight some (saving me resources :) ) or negating some of the attacks with the higher AC may give Telveran the extra attack he needs to win... I did look into this. Thicken skin wont negate anything but one hit will be negated by your concealing amorpha [Looking at the fight again I can see and remember I forgot about this after round 20]. However the extra 10 HPs of damage you'll accumulate from not having biofeedback up will mean Telv will fall in round 39. Since no big changes, let's just call me wiser and make sure I double check the psion/psi-warrior power level differences in the future. However, If you don't have time just say so and let the result stand. No problem, after my experiences last week I can imagine how you feel so I will double check. Tripping w/o the feat is not great but it is something to do against a speedier foe. Missed the mobility feat or I wouldn't have bothered. I missed it as well |
| Huan05-09-05, 02:24 PM | Bare-bones of Uhmentarymster vs Va'ria (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6135598) is up. Short version: The Baron of Blitzkrieg vs the Lord of Luck clash once more... |

| Sindorin05-09-05, 03:00 PM | What does Blacklight do? I'm just curious... |
| Cerebus1305-09-05, 03:03 PM | Read about it: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/domainsAndSpells.htm#blacklight One of the few extra spells added with the Divine section of the SRD. |
| Caterane05-09-05, 03:03 PM | Bare-bones of Uhmentarymster vs Va'ria (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6135598) is up. Short version: The Baron of Blitzkrieg vs the Lord of Luck clash once more... Thanks for running the fight, Huan. Just some things for the future: - Eule is a magical beast and unaffected by hide from animals - Area dispel magic dispels only 1 spell. It begins at the highest level spell and checks downward until it dispels something, then stops to dispel |
| Sindorin05-09-05, 03:05 PM | Ah, I found it. *grumbles* |
| Huan05-09-05, 03:11 PM | What does Blacklight do? I'm just curious... It's under the Divine Domains and Spells section. The caster creates an area of total darkness. The darkness is impenetrable to normal vision and darkvision, but the caster can see normally within the blacklit area. Creatures outside the spell’s area, even the caster, cannot see through it. The spell can be cast on a point in space, but the effect is stationary cast on a mobile object. A character can cast the spell on a creature, and the effect then radiates from the creature and moves as it moves. Unattended objects and points in space do not get saving throws or benefit from spell resistance. Blacklight counters or dispels any light spell of equal or lower level. The 3rd-level cleric spell daylight counters or dispels blacklight. @Caterane Eh, I figured I would overlook something somewhere. Thanks. @Sindorin Sorry about the luck, but Va'ria literally had 50-50 odds with those saves. |
| Caterane05-09-05, 03:13 PM | 2 wins this week. Thank god for Sindorin :D |
| Sindorin05-09-05, 03:15 PM | 2 wins this week. Thank god for Sindorin :D hey! you forgot two wins, one loss. Thank god for Indri :D |
| cellardweller05-09-05, 03:20 PM | Blacklight only provides 20% concealment as per the community decision when the Divine sections of the SRD were added to CoCo (in line with the 3.0->3.5 changes to darkness/deeper darkness). It is one of the many 3.5 conversion editing errors in the divine sections. |
| Caterane05-09-05, 03:26 PM | Blacklight only provides 20% concealment as per the community decision when the Divine sections of the SRD were added to CoCo (in line with the 3.0->3.5 changes to darkness/deeper darkness). It is one of the many 3.5 conversion editing errors in the divine sections. Never heard about that. And why should a 3rd level spell do the same like darkness (2nd level), just shorter? (rnd/lvl instead of 10min/lvl) |
| Sindorin05-09-05, 03:28 PM | That's why I asked :P |
| cellardweller05-09-05, 03:32 PM | Because the caster can see within it. You honestly can't see a problem with a 3rd level spell making the caster untargetable? |
| Jindl05-09-05, 03:42 PM | Because the caster can see within it. You honestly can't see a problem with a 3rd level spell making the caster untargetable? Granting total concealment is the same as a 2nd level spell (invisibility), and doesn't necessarily make you untargettable (those area effects still work fine, you can still target with ranged touch spells if you pinpoint with listen, and melee attacks will work with the normal 50% miss chance). I have no issue with blacklight working as written (only the caster can see within the area, and then only when he is located within the area). Tiny Hut offers a similar ability (using the opaque version), but lasts for hours/lvl instead of rnd/lvl and grants some environmental protection as well, and that spell is only 2 levels higher. -Jindl |
| Caterane05-09-05, 03:46 PM | I can also see everyone outside a darkness area so only in case someone melees the wizard - which shouldn't happen - blacklight eliminates the mere 20% miss chance you get (as if I wouldn't better run away instead of attacking). Asides from that: Darkness, 10min/lvl, 2nd level Blacklight, 1rnd/lvl, 3rd level Which community decided that? The CoCo Council? I can't find anything there. But to answer your question: glitterdust, faery fire, daylight, dispels, true seeing are all ways to beat blacklight. And then there are area spells, and ranged touch attacks pinpointed with listen. |
| cellardweller05-09-05, 03:47 PM | Invis only lasts till you attack. Improved invisibility is a 4th level spell with a similar effect, but blacklight as written is even better because you can not be targetted by a ranged attack either (spell or weapon). I believe it was a tavern or FotW dicussion, but without search I can't locate it |
| Caterane05-09-05, 03:52 PM | But you always know where the globe is unlike with improved invisibility (which can be cast on someone else btw). What we can do to lessen its power - if that is necessary - is to say the enemy knows where the center is and can target it with ranged touch attacks at a 50% chance. But that would be true for all such spells. And this would have to pass the Council. |
| Jindl05-09-05, 03:53 PM | But to answer your question: glitterdust, faery fire, daylight, dispels, true seeing are all ways to beat blacklight. And then there are area spells, and ranged touch attacks pinpointed with listen. Neither glitterdust nor faerie fire will work. They both negate concealment, but the fact that LOS is broken by 20 ft of utter blackness (because you still cannot see through the darkness) makes this irrelevant. Daylight dispels it automatically (go aasimars!). Dispel magic has a chance. True seeing won't likely be available for about 3 more months. But touchsight would work great! -Jindl |
| Jindl05-09-05, 03:55 PM | But you always know where the globe is unlike with improved invisibility (which can be cast on someone else btw). What we can do to lessen its power - if that is necessary - is to say the enemy knows where the center is and can target it with ranged touch attacks at a 50% chance. But that would be true for all such spells. And this would have to pass the Council. It would be pretty easy to try and target the center with ranged touch attack spells. But you don't know that the caster is the center (since the blacklight spell could be targetted on a point in space, or on an object that the caster dropped.) Knowledge of where the center is also doesn't help with ranged weapon attacks, since you have no LOS to the target or the target's square. -Jindl |
| Caterane05-09-05, 03:57 PM | Hm, without glitterdust and faery fire, there is indeed not very much that can defeat blacklight. Only daylight works for sure at this level. I'll run a round around the block and think about something but since this is Elder stuff you should think about it too. |
| cellardweller05-09-05, 03:57 PM | A ranged touch cannot target someone within blacklight as written. As discussed recently, you need to have line of sight to the square you are trying to target in order to attempt the 50% miss chance for any ranged attack. |
| cellardweller05-09-05, 04:03 PM | On a side note, that tip of using google to search the boards *so* doesn't work. |
| Jindl05-09-05, 04:15 PM | A ranged touch cannot target someone within blacklight as written. As discussed recently, you need to have line of sight to the square you are trying to target in order to attempt the 50% miss chance for any ranged attack. Ranged touch spells don't need LOS, just LOE (there's a precedent where a blinded Bruno hit the Elder with a Ray of Exhaustion.) Only ranged weapon attacks need LOS. And spells that have a target without making an attack roll (like blindness/deafness). -Jindl |
| spasheridan05-09-05, 05:03 PM | A ranged touch cannot target someone within blacklight as written. As discussed recently, you need to have line of sight to the square you are trying to target in order to attempt the 50% miss chance for any ranged attack.Hey Cellar- THis rule has been beaten with a stick recently. My favorite use of this rule is to say that if you close your eye and throw a spear at the earth, it will miss because you no longer have LOS to the earth. I believe a more accurate interperation of the LOS rule is to change it to LOE. If you can't imagine reasons why the LOS rule is broken I'll glady help, but adhering to a poorly written rule is almost as bad as ignoring well written ones. |
| spasheridan05-09-05, 05:08 PM | @TaggIV: Daka purchased a permanent enlarge person, so he should have the +2 str. Right? Or did that get changed somewhere in his accounting? Also, about entangle. THe radius of entangle is 40 feet. Anyone inside it is slowed to have speed. So if the entangle is centered on daka and he passes his save... on his move he move / moves 40 feet to the edge of the entangle. On my go he must make a save vs the entangle he's already in. If he makes it then he get's hit with the 2nd entangle... this would not change the fight but if he breaks free earlier from the size increase it may be needed information. |
| TaggIIV05-09-05, 05:17 PM | Oh. I didnt see that enlarge person, but it doesnt affect him breaking out or not. Fight remains same. |

| xanadu05-10-05, 02:40 AM | The Ripper (Xanadu) vs Aeluath Dryearraheal (Kaigan): Jindl is up. Both sets of tactics had some issues, which hopefully I resolved/adapted to everyone's satisfaction. Sadly, lady luck was the determining factor yet again. As Huan likes to say, "We live by the dice. We die by the dice." -Jindl :censored: :censored: :censored: That's what I what I think of your dice :D :D I had a feeling the Gryff manuever thing wouldn't fly, but why must I summon it on the ground - it does afterall move perfectly fine in the air? |

Yeah, they don't like me much either (at least they didn't in last weekend's RL game). To answer your question, check the SRD, Magic Overview section: Conjuration Each conjuration spell belongs to one of five subschools. Conjurations bring manifestations of objects, creatures, or some form of energy to you (the summoning subschool), actually transport creatures from another plane of existence to your plane (calling), heal (healing), transport creatures or objects over great distances (teleportation), or create objects or effects on the spot (creation). Creatures you conjure usually, but not always, obey your commands. A creature or object brought into being or transported to your location by a conjuration spell cannot appear inside another creature or object, nor can it appear floating in an empty space. It must arrive in an open location on a surface capable of supporting it. The creature or object must appear within the spell’s range, but it does not have to remain within the range. |
| Jindl05-10-05, 02:50 AM | Ceres V Jindl is up. An interesring duel these 2 had. Ceres took an unusual defensive stance this time.. SOrry for the delay! Elder v Laph is slowly wrapping itself up. No problem ;) It looks error free except for the rewards: 1800 xp x 1.333 = 2400 xp. 2000 gp x 1.333 = 2667 gp. 600 xp x .75 = 450 xp 667 gp x .75 = 500 gp. -Jindl |
| xanadu05-10-05, 02:59 AM |  OK, I just read Kaigan's tactics. I still think Jindl's dice :censored: but Kaigan's tactics are really funny and indicative that he pitlorded my guys last 3 fights. then draw lance, and ready my action to attack the bat when it comes. And it will come, it always does Then go gnome hunting. His last couple of fights have been similar...Always that order. I really think "surface capable of supporting it" is to prevent people from summoning blue whales in the air and having them crush enemies when falling to the ground. Suppose I summon an eagle, arrowhawk, or dire bat, would I still have to have them start on solid ground? |
| spasheridan05-10-05, 03:04 AM | @JIndl: THanks fer the math help. I used the wrong formulas I guess.. PS, You beat Laph's init so no 1-round kill. Of course, that sure would have been easier for me... |

A creature or object brought into being or transported to your location by a conjuration spell cannot appear inside another creature or object, nor can it appear floating in an empty space. It must arrive in an open location on a surface capable of supporting it. Note the word floating. It can be argued that an eagle or dire bat would be flying, not floating, and can therefore be summoned into empty space as long as they are flying (not floating / falling) when summoned. |
| Jindl05-10-05, 03:22 AM | Flying might not be exactly the same as floating, but it also isn't "on a surface capable of supporting it." Ridiculous as it may be to suggest that you must summon an air elemental on a surface, that's the rule. |
| Jindl05-10-05, 03:23 AM | PS, You beat Laph's init so no 1-round kill. Of course, that sure would have been easier for me... Oh thank goodness. Of course, that may just mean it takes more than 1 round for Laph to win :( |
| Sindorin05-10-05, 07:28 AM | As predicted (but not attempted): Last week: 0-2 vs. Jindl This week: 0-2 vs. Caterane I'm going questing. For a while. |
| Kingside_Bishop05-10-05, 02:12 PM | OK, Cyalin vs Meinrad (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6112744) is done. Sorry it took so long. An old boss's worker quit without leaving any notice, in a nasty sort of way, and I got called in over the weekend. It's really hard work (lumberjack, tree-falling sort of a deal), with long days (10+ hours). Sorry, guys. But, there it is. |
| Sunwolf05-10-05, 02:13 PM | @Zyme Having a NPC cast Permanency spell on Daka (ECL 4) costs at least 5 credits and should be noted in the Blackmarket. Please also note what caster level the Permanency was cast at and what spell level the underlying spell was cast at. spell for xp Cheapest is 9th level Perm 10*5*9 + 500*5 = 2950 + (9-4)=5 credits 1st level Enlarge 10*1*1 = 10 ------ 2960 + 5 credits Safest is 20 level Perm 10*5*20 +500*5 = 3500 + (20-4)=16credits 20 level Enlarge 10*1*20 = 200 + (20-4)=16credits ------ 3700 + 32 credits One word of warning -- a dispel magic can blow away either of these spells and your permanent enlarge goes way and you are out your 3K+ gold. You may want to invest in a ring of counterspells soon. Check the FAQ under NPC services for an explaination. |

Everything going okay on this one? I know the ECL7's are waiting for the outcome of this match to open up their league (I think both the Elder and Laph advance a level, win or lose.) EDIT: Correction, Laph needs to win to advance. So leave that pixie in the dust!! (or glitterdust, as appropriate). -Jindl |

| spasheridan05-10-05, 04:01 PM | I'm mean and cruel Jindl & Pittbull. RL seems to have become a bit busier than usual. I'll have Laph v Elder up tonight, but it'll be late.. like 11pm my time is the eariliest. I don't want to dump it off but if that's too late for you let me know and maybe we can arrange a last second hand off. |

No problem, Jindl readies his character always 5 min before deadline ;) and I have the favor of the CET-zone. There won't be much time to discuss it, but I'm sure we both can accept the result, no matter the outcome. Thanks for being so reliable! |
| spasheridan05-11-05, 03:25 AM | Laph v Elder is up. There's a small violation for Elder on the violations page BTW. This was a tricky fight, and both combatants had single shot tactics. One gladiator hit with their uber smack.. the other was tricked into wasting theirs. What cunning tacticians! Again, sorry for the late fight! |
| Jindl05-11-05, 04:11 AM | Eek, I should have realized how difficult it would be to hit Laph's touch AC. It's a shame that I still had 1 spell level left and had true strike memorized. Ah well. Thanks for getting the fight done!! Oh, and I'll go fix that error on the Elder's saves (I think I had planned on a cloak of resistance, then decided against it and forgot to fix the saves?) -Jindl |
| Pittbull05-11-05, 04:15 AM | This is why I wanted to kill in the first round. Don't let the Elder buff! This is wise advice from a Pixie! Spash, you've done good fight, thanks! Next level I'll take improved initiative and my special-arrows, then chances for a win are better again. So, be aware all elven casters!!!!!! |

But I think after 2 recent fights, the Elder deserves a break from your pixie's pranking. Wouldn't you agree? |
| Pittbull05-11-05, 04:45 AM | Scary indeed. But I think after 2 recent fights, the Elder deserves a break from your pixie's pranking. Wouldn't you agree? Oh, yes! But it has been good training for Laph, he has learned a lot from Eniolissaryn. He's a good master. Laph will get more and more expirienced to face finally Heinrich the Pixie-Slayer! |
| KerlanRayne05-11-05, 05:06 AM | For a permanent Enlarge Person, would both spells have to be CL 20 to be safe from dispel or just the Permanency? KerlanRayne |
| Pittbull05-11-05, 05:29 AM | For a permanent Enlarge Person, would both spells have to be CL 20 to be safe from dispel or just the Permanency? KerlanRayne I think, you need both at level 20. |
| Sunwolf05-11-05, 09:23 AM | I think, you need both at level 20. Unfortunately caster level 20 on the spells just gives a DC31 for the dispel magic check. This is unreachable by dispel magic but greater dispel magic can attain this or higher results starting at level 11. On the other hand if you are the caster ( the dispeller has to be of a higher caster level than you were when you cast the spells) to dispel the spells. |

It's a shame that I still had 1 spell level left and had true strike memorized.Nope, you cast Invis twice & Silent image, that's all 5 spell levels... I thought about having you go invisible and going for another flat foot touch but you had that listed as the last defense... The elder's BAB is going to be really bad, isn't it? You'll get it up to a +3 by level 8? OUCH! |

But diviner builds do tend to have lots of quickened true strikes... |
