| TelinArtho09-27-06, 03:16 PM | Fights of the Week: September 27th Sheets Deadline for editing characters sheets is 21:00 CET. Central European Time (http://wwp.centraleuropeantime.eu/) shows the time. Please don't edit the sheet after the deadline or you will lose the match. Currently, the deadline has passed Rules of Gladius All that you need to know is written in the Rules of Gladius. It could be useful also to give a look to the Court Decisions part 1 and part 2. Please do not make fake accounts or insult the Elders. Pairings GM Caterane will pair the active Characters of Gladius after the deadline. Make sure that your character is not in Prison (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=571107&goto=lastpost). Pitlording You should use the CoCo Dice Roller (http://www.hwx.it/wizards.com) for the fight. If you need, there is a nice Template ready to use that will help. You could find very useful the Battle Map Tag Generator (http://www.hwx.it/coco) for dynamic Maps, You must post a link to your fight in this thread when it is complete. Other useful links are Skills and Feats, Quick Access tables for XP and Gold. Recent News and Developments (From our Illustrious Prisonlord) 1. In an effort to start seeing red prison violations fixed in a more timely fashion, effective with the roll call for the week ending September 16th (next week), a new policy will go into effect. Players will now be given a maximum of four weeks from the time they receive a red violation in which to fix this violation. If it is not fixed by the end of that 4 week period, that player will have all characters they run except the one of the lowest ECL placed in prison until the issue is fixed. The player will only be allowed to have that single character active as long as the violation remains unfixed. If there are more than one character to choose from at the lowest ECL of characters on the roster for the player, one will be chosen at random by me to leave active. Characters that are currently in prison as of this roll call will be given two weeks beyond today (i.e. roll call for week ending Sept 23rd) in which to fix their errors, or all of their characters except one will be subject to inprisonment. 2. As I discussed in the Tavern, I am adding some more mandatory skills to the default character sheet. There are now three additional mandatory skills: Balance, Climb and Jump. All players will have until pairings on September 20th (approx 10 days from today) in which to update their character sheets with these new mandatory skills. As of September 20th, any character sheet not reflecting these skills is subject to violation reporting for this reason. Comments & Concerns Post any comments or concerns for this weeks fights in this thread. Be kind and courteous to your fellow posters, don't attack pitlords. Please remember that they do hard work and consume a lot of time to let you play and above all, have FUN! If you have questions or comments on any of the changes, please make your posts be heard in the Council of Gladius! |
| Zevox09-27-06, 03:22 PM | Since I see that Telin didn't put it in the news, a reminder: Everyone and thier dog (as Vath amusingly put it) has been reported in prison by our Prisonlord for not having the new skills on thier sheets. Make sure you get those fixed and PM him to remove the violations unless you want to spend some time in the slammer. :) Zevox |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 03:25 PM | Its there - just not in such forward terms... In any case - all my active characters are done - so why should I care :P |
| Erithmu09-27-06, 03:27 PM | It kinda begs the question of ... What if you have two dogs? or a Cat for that matter? |
| Zevox09-27-06, 03:31 PM | Bah, the news just mentions that they can be written up for it, not that 80% of the CoCo has. :P Hmm... looking at the roster, looks like (barring an inter-league or monster fight) Destra is going to fight one of NiQil's horsemen. Again. This'll make the second one-on-one and the fifth overall fight shes had involving one of those. Can't seem to shake the stubborn little clones... Zevox |
| Erithmu09-27-06, 03:36 PM | I'm in kinda a joking mood, but I think it would be fun to throw all 4 of em in the arena and see which one comes out on top .... Edit: With the contingency that Niqil has to run it ...... .... |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 03:40 PM | Actually - I've been waiting for a pair of them to be matched up with Sir Valkin in an inter-league matchup... Maybe I should propose a challenge... |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 04:06 PM | Just a quick note. Although in the past I have been open to picking up as many fights as possible, it is entirely possible as soon as next week that I might have to cut down on the number I run. Taking a quick look over the active pitlords, I see there are around 20 fights covered by the active pitlords - which is treacherously low. Since last week I did 5 fights (counted as six since one was a 4-player fight), and King Uther is not available for fights anymore, we could easily end up in a state of emergency again. I urge for everyone to give pitlording a few tries. Sometimes you may end up with a terrible fight to run, others it can be fairly easy - but in all cases you are giving back to the community from which you draw. /d |
| Zevox09-27-06, 04:14 PM | Yeah, I've been afraid we'd hit a SoE for a while now. Its probably a miracle we haven't, since I dropped from four fights to one due to school and we no longer have anyone doing max. KU leaving is hurting enough, but if you drop down to just one or two too, I imagine SoE #2 will hit. Zevox |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 04:23 PM | Well, I'm effectively doing "MAX" now... I just want to give the heads up that I might not be doing it for much longer... Being in a state of emergency wouldn't be so bad - but I'm more about drumming up more pitlords. I'm not asking anyone to put up 3+ fights per week. All I'm asking is for people to put up 1 fight per week. If you like the side benefit of having more characters active - this will satisfy it; if you like the idea of using occasional custom items or starting a character at a higher ECL - this will satisfy it. In the end, I just want to see the community thrive. It has been on life support since I left in February as far as I can tell - and I'd like to see it get better. By taking on more fights - I think it has been getting there, but there's only so much time I can put into it. |
| MindWandererB09-27-06, 04:28 PM | You're probably right. I wish I could help, but I just don't have the time Friday through Monday (which is why I'm picking up guild duties, since the scheduling is better for me). |
| Pittbull09-27-06, 05:16 PM | Seeing there is a shortage, I'll take a fight too. I send a PM to Pitlords. |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 05:31 PM | Ivan Banai (ayyiniwindryder) vs. Farig of Denth (TelinArtho) : TelinArtho [Sewer] I can't pitlord my own fight... Anakala (TelinArtho) vs. Izumi (Macbrea) : Ayyiniwindrider [Sewer] We fought each other just last week Dronnar Darkjof Reborn (DSugui) vs. Sir Valkin (TelinArtho) : Macbrea [Forest] Mounted Paladin vs a hippogriff-riding half-giant... in the forest... Who wrote this one up? |
| Papapeperoni09-27-06, 05:41 PM | My paranoia streak rises up again. It seems as if I did something wrong in my title, since I'm seeing lots of ECL 3 miniquests, but Marcus is missing :(. If possible, questlord Erithmu, since I'm going to join the EYE after all. Greetings, --Papapeperoni |
| Pitlords09-27-06, 05:42 PM | Pairings done More later |
| MindWandererB09-27-06, 05:43 PM | Looks like your title is fine, but Marcus isn't on the roster. Did you forget to PM Pitlords? |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 05:45 PM | Okay - looks like 6 fights for me this week. As always - if you get your tactics in earlier it is more likely to get your fight in earlier. |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 05:55 PM | @Lonewolf - looking over Karen I noticed that the pegasus is not prebuffed (well - its listed there but it has a strikethrough). Did you want to bring it and this was just an error from your previous fight? Or did you not want to bring it? |
| Papapeperoni09-27-06, 05:56 PM | I thought a spider was used to check the active gladiators, and as such have not sent a PM to Pitlords. Any chance I can still get in for this week? Greetings, --Papapeperoni |
| lonewolf09-27-06, 05:57 PM | The Chameleons Bulgary information sent. |
| Zelck09-27-06, 05:58 PM | * Istima Telarc (Zevox) vs. Andurwin Calathos (Zelck) : TelinArtho [Plains] LOL. |
| Hirumajoe09-27-06, 06:04 PM | I guess I can try taking a fight if that helps. I'll PM pitlords. |
| TheMagister09-27-06, 06:06 PM | Krug Butcher (Dsugui) vs. Mssr. Hood (Me): Plains Oof. Why does it seem like Hood faces deflect arrows every other week?! {TM does some counting} Oh. That's why. Three out of nine fights. {sigh} Although the map choice could have been worse for me, I'm still not looking forward to this. Now, NEXT level...NEXT level I eat guys like you for lunch... TM |
| Hirumajoe09-27-06, 06:10 PM | Apparently I did something wrong with Valen Sky's header for this week or perhaps didn't realize I need to post somewhere? I had intended to have him do a full activity for crafting a Deepcrystal Composite Longbow (Mighty +2) plus some arrows. However I see that he's not listed under the full activities for the week. What can I do to fix this (at least for future weeks if not this week)? Thanks, Hirumajoe |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 06:13 PM | PM pitlords |
| False_Keraptis09-27-06, 06:14 PM | Gundmir (False_Keraptis) vs. R'y mund (NedTheDestroyer) : TelinArtho [Arena] Wow, Gundmir meets R'y Mund a lot. Counting this one, they'll have fought each other in three of the last four battles. |
| Dracazar09-27-06, 06:23 PM | I would like to point that Uilo is marked not ready so she should be unpaired, thanks |
| Erithmu09-27-06, 06:23 PM | @Dsugui: Tactics for Loddick from last week sent Edit: whats the penalty for making a character change that hasn't been authorized by Pitlords? |
| lonewolf09-27-06, 06:25 PM | @DSugui: Tactics for Kitty sent. |
| Pittbull09-27-06, 06:30 PM | @Hogarth: Morathors tactic has been sent to you via PM. |
| MindWandererB09-27-06, 06:31 PM | I would like to point that Uilo is marked not ready so she should be unpaired, thanks Sorry, Drac, but you don't have that option at this point--it's a guild battle. I can write the tactics, if you like, but there's no way she'll get out of it. @PapaP: A spider is used, but it parses the roster and follows the links therein. No roster, no pairing. |
| Pitlords09-27-06, 06:44 PM | Sali Kan (ayyiniwindryder) vs. Kervan Sheharath (MindwandererB) : TelinArtho Pittbull [Temple] Gundmir (False_Keraptis) vs. R'y mund (NedTheDestroyer) : TelinArtho Hirumjajoe [Arena] Dessius Warmsher (Jerrick_QueKiri) miniquests to join WAR : XXXXX [Miniquest] Marcus Rederta (Papapeperoni) miniquests to join EYE : XXXXX [Miniquest] Telin -2°, Hirumja+1°, Pittbull+1° |
| Papapeperoni09-27-06, 06:54 PM | Phew, I got paired. My next problem, no pitlords left. Is there anyone interested in putting up something against a soulknife with a horse fresh off the hook? Throw at me whatever you want, as long as it's a miniquest and ECL 3 (now that I think about it, that doesn't leave a lot left) :P. In short, does anyone will/can/may/want to do an ECL 3 miniquest? I'm off to bed, way too late for me (1:00 AM). --Papapeperoni |
| Dracazar09-27-06, 07:04 PM | Sorry, Drac, but you don't have that option at this point--it's a guild battle. I can write the tactics, if you like, but there's no way she'll get out of it. @PapaP: A spider is used, but it parses the roster and follows the links therein. No roster, no pairing. Hmm, I wasn't aware of that fight, a PM would have been nice. At least may I have the chance to equip Uilo? I updated the sheet with last fight info but I'm on a new cycle and I bought nothing, I can't start a new cycle without expendables and without new spells. We should ask to Caterane? |
| TelinArtho09-27-06, 07:09 PM | Sir Valkin's tactics have been sent to MacBrea. Waiting on Lonewolf's answer about his pegasus so that I can finish up Kraegin's tactics. If I send Kraegin's tactics without hearing back I will assume the pegasus is not being used. The rest will probably be along in the morning or later tonight. |
| Caterane09-27-06, 07:13 PM | @MWB: You can pair your guild PCs but you must inform them by PM. @Drac: You can buy stuff retroactively. Post it here and add it after the fight to your sheet. The pairing was clear ahead of time anyway. The Time Roll is 2 hours, btw. Stupid homepage is down more often than not. I need a new provider. |
| SauroGrenom09-27-06, 07:29 PM | Cat, I think Samuel has a Raid on TLT's Monestary this week. TLT sent an opperative to oppose him last week, and he defeated the opposition. So he still needs to do an ECL9 miniquest for the raid. |
| MindWandererB09-27-06, 07:38 PM | @MWB: You can pair your guild PCs but you must inform them by PM. @Drac: You can buy stuff retroactively. Post it here and add it after the fight to your sheet. The pairing was clear ahead of time anyway.I did, in fact. I even asked and got his permission, although I don't appear to have kept the PM where he agreed to it. Perhaps he was unclear which week I was referring to? @lonewolf and Usernamer TelinArtho Pittbull: Tactics sent. Sorry about the tactics to folks who aren't running that fight. |
| Zevox09-27-06, 09:05 PM | Istima Telarc (Zevox) vs. Andurwin Calathos (Zelck) : TelinArtho [Plains] @ Cat - Um, we just had this fight last week (granted it was at ECL 4, not 5, but still). Any chance of getting it switched around with one of the other fights? War (NiQil) vs. Destra Stormwind (Zevox) : Ayyiniwindrider [Forest] Saw it coming. But at least its in Destra's element. Lets see if Destra can get some revenge for that crit last week. Pestilence (NiQil) vs. Ceilia (Zevox) & Khabil (Traevanon) : Abyssal Stalker [Arena] Well, interesting. Mounted Cleric/Fighter and Cleric vs Dwarf tank. Lets see if the magic can overcome mr. super-physical. Eraca Moralta (Zevox) vs. Kimahri Ronso (Dr.Funk) : Erithmu [City] Saw it coming. Could've done with a better map though - not much manuevering room in there. Meh, at least Eraca has time to buff. Time to test that new spell of hers. The Chameleon (lonewolf) intercepts Uilo[ECL8] (Dracazar) : Zevox [City] [Guild] Hm... while I don't personally have any problem with running it, might I ask if MWB has any cocerns about Guildmaster (EHTC) running his own interception? If so, I'll have no problem giving this over to someone with no stake in its outcome. @ lonewolf - Did you send the burglary information to Dracazar, or MWB (or both)? Its not certain which will be writing the tactics right now. Zevox |
| Traevanon09-27-06, 10:02 PM | Khabil Baruck is active, yet he is not paired. If this is due to a shortage of Pitlords okay, but if its an oversight I'd like to be paired if possible. If its due to a shortage, can I ask that a list be made at the bottom of the pairings of people that didnt get paired so that we dont have to wonder? |
| Zevox09-27-06, 10:16 PM | Khabil Baruck is active, yet he is not paired. If this is due to a shortage of Pitlords okay, but if its an oversight I'd like to be paired if possible. If its due to a shortage, can I ask that a list be made at the bottom of the pairings of people that didnt get paired so that we dont have to wonder? Hes paired - its just an inter-league fight (check the ECL 6 pairings). Hes teamed up with my Ceilia Durrol against one of NiQil's Dwarf tanks. Zevox |
| NiQil09-27-06, 10:33 PM | @ McJarvis: Tactics for Famine & Death sent via PM @ Abyssal Stalker: Tactics for Pestilence sent via PM @ ayyiniwindryder: Tactics for War sent via PM |
| McJarvis09-27-06, 10:43 PM | @ McJarvis: Tactics for Famine & Death sent via PM received |
| Zevox09-27-06, 11:07 PM | @ Erithmu - Tactics for Eraca (vs Kimhari) have been PMed. I'm looking forward to that one :) . @ Traevanon - Tacics ideas for our team match PMed. @ My pitlords - Other tactics (except maybe the team ones) will be sent tomorrow afternoon. Zevox |
| NedTheDestroyer09-27-06, 11:13 PM | Kon the Doorknocker was active but also did not get paired. I checked my time and it was good, so I was just wondering what was up? Edit: Oh poo, I just noticed that you have to be active at CET and I was going off of GMT. Oh Dear. |
| Zelck09-27-06, 11:49 PM | @TelinArtho: Tactics for Andurwin vs. Istima, Round 2 is sent. |
| McJarvis09-28-06, 12:56 AM | @TelinArtho : Tactics for Ned sent. |
| MindWandererB09-28-06, 02:20 AM | Hm... while I don't personally have any problem with running it, might I ask if MWB has any cocerns about Guildmaster (EHTC) running his own interception? If so, I'll have no problem giving this over to someone with no stake in its outcome. @ lonewolf - Did you send the burglary information to Dracazar, or MWB (or both)? Its not certain which will be writing the tactics right now.I trust you to run a fair fight. I haven't noticed a trend wherein guildmembers win more often if their guildmasters or assistant guildmasters run the fight--in fact, the opposite seems to be the case by my judgment. I don't have the burglary info, but I won't write tactics unless Dracazar tells me to, or the deadline is getting dangerously close. If the latter, they may be a little late, so Drac, please let me know one way or another when you get a chance. Thanks. |
| Ravashack09-28-06, 03:09 AM | Perius's tactics sent in to McJarvis via PM. |
| Pittbull09-28-06, 03:58 AM | @MW: Tactic recieved, waiting for Ayyini. |
| Stormwind09-28-06, 05:32 AM | @Cat: I'll take both of the outstanding ECL3 MQ's: Dessius Warmsher (Jerrick_QueKiri) miniquests to join WAR : XXXXX Stormwind [Miniquest] Marcus Rederta (Papapeperoni) miniquests to join EYE : XXXXX Stormwind [Miniquest] @Jerrick_QueKiri, Papapeperoni: Expect the miniquest threads up tonight (in about 10-12 hours). |
| Traevanon09-28-06, 06:00 AM | I always miss the Interleague fights. Thanks for the heads-up. Tactics message sent. I'll send my tactics in seperately. |
| bgt09-28-06, 07:39 AM | Tactics for Luxt'l and Neidr have been sent. |
| ayyiniwindryder09-28-06, 08:27 AM | @UserNamer - Ivan's tactics sent @Pittbull - Sali's tactics sent @Macbrea and Niqil - tactics received |
| Dracazar09-28-06, 10:40 AM | @Drac: You can buy stuff retroactively. Post it here and add it after the fight to your sheet. The pairing was clear ahead of time anyway. About Uilo: Ok, the spell are those (quite the same of the actual sheet): 0: [DC 13] Light(VF), Create Water(VS), Detect Magic(VS), Resistance(VSF), Guidance(VS), Cure Minor Wounds(VS) 1: [DC 14] Entangle(VSF), Entangle(VSF), Produce Flame(VS), Faerie Fire(VSF), Faerie Fire(VSF) 2: [DC 15] Fog Cloud(VS), Flaming Sphere(VSF), Warp Wood(VS), Spider Climb(VSM) 3: [DC 16] Spike Growth(VSM), Call Lightning(VS), Call Lightning(VS), Magic Fang Greater(VSF) 4: [DC 17] Flame Strike(VSF), Air Walk(VSF) The Item bought are those: Bag of Tricks (Tan) ................. [CL3] [6300 GP] Metamagic Rod of lesser Extend ...... [CL3] [3000 GP] I can't but scrolls because I need to craft them and this will need more than a Free Action so I have to play without them, I'll craft scrolls after this fight. I'll write the tactic asap and send it to Zevox @MWB: Yes, I was absolutely agree to do TLT actions, I wasn't aware of _that_ action. Perhaps I should have read the Hall of Gladius, sorry for that, I thought I would have been informed by PM. @Zevox: Yes, I received the burglary information @lonewolf: Sorry for the matter, however this would not interfere with the fight |
| TheMagister09-28-06, 12:26 PM | @ TelinArtho - Tactics (pts. 1 & 2) for Mssr. Hood vs. Krug Butcher sent to you via PM. TM |
| TelinArtho09-28-06, 12:56 PM | Okay - all of my tactics have been sent. I've received about 10 PMs for tactics - but it looks like a few people have sent multiple PMs about it (like TM above). I'll list what I'm missing in a little bit. Tactics received for: Kervan (by accident) Andurwin (and addendum) Ned the Rouge Saint (and addendum) amorax_kaka (and addendum) Alexander Monsieur Hood (parts 1 and 2) - basic issue with tactics - PM sent -response received - resolved. Lutup Kraknay (amorax_kaka) vs. Wisp (c00lz3) : TelinArtho [City] Alexander (UserNamer) vs. Ventr the Dreamer (Milov) : TelinArtho [City] Montana (UserNamer) vs. Ned the Rouge Saint (McJarvis) : TelinArtho [Arena] Istima Telarc (Zevox) vs. Andurwin Calathos (Zelck) : TelinArtho [Plains] |
| hogarth09-28-06, 01:27 PM | @DSugui,Pittbull: Tactics received. |
| DSugui09-28-06, 01:36 PM | @ TelinArtho - Tactics (pts. 1 & 2) for Mssr. Hood vs. Krug Butcher sent to you via PM. TMDid I miss something? Monsieur Hood (TheMagister) vs. Krug Butcher (DSugui) : Papapeperoni I sent tactics to Telin, anyways. @Macbrea: Tactics for Dronnar sent. All tactics for the Hunter fight received. Tactics for Luxr'l received. (Didn't take a look at them, though.) |
| TheMagister09-28-06, 01:38 PM | How odd. When did THAT change? Well, okie dokie. I guess Telin should forward those tactics to Papa, then, or maybe swap one of his other fights with Papa. TM |
| Zevox09-28-06, 01:58 PM | @ Abyssal Stalker - Tactics for Ceilia Durrol have been PMed. @ Ayyiniwindryder - Tactics for Destra Stormwind have been PMed. @ Telin - Tactics for Istima Telarc have been PMed. @ Dracazar - Tactics for Uilo recieved, some problems PMed. Zevox |
| TelinArtho09-28-06, 02:26 PM | Nope - I forgot as well that Cat had changed that one. I'll forward TMs tactics over to Papa then. EDIT - tactics for both forwarded to Papapeperoni. I have also received Istima and Montana's tactics. |
| TelinArtho09-28-06, 02:46 PM | @UserNamer - although they won't change the fight to Ivan's favor - I do want to point out a few errors in the fight for future reference. If you choose to edit them in is up to you: 1. In round 3, I have sight to Ivan and I stated to use my mount for cover if possible. Since I can - I should have made a ride check here to get a +4 cover bonus to AC. With my +13 ride check - it is very likely the attack would have missed. Since using a mount for cover is a common thing for mounted players - I figured it might be best to point this out now. 2. Also in round 3, Farig only has one flail - a dire flail - which is a two-handed double-weapon. There is no need to "draw h[er] other flail." 3. The ride check for attacking with a mount is DC10 - so there is no need to roll this since it is an auto-success. 4. Ivan has the improved grapple feat - so he does not draw an AoO from the horse or Farig when trying to start a grapple. 5. In order to start a grapple, you first need to connect on a touch attack, then you need to roll opposed grapple checks. From the looks of things - you went straight to the opposed rolls. Since Farig's touch AC is fairly high (AC14+2 (shield of faith)+4 (cover from horse) = 20), this makes grappling Farig fairly unlikely. 6. A mounted character (medium on a large mount) in melee with a medium or smaller-sized opponent, gets a "higher-ground" bonus to their attack rolls of +1. This also comes into play often - so it would serve you best to remember it. I generally try to remember to include it in my tactics - but I do forget sometimes. 7. You should get into the habit of keeping a summary status for any particular round. At first - include it for every round. Later on - when you've got a bunch of fights under your belt - only list the status when it changes. Like I said, nothing here would have changed the fight - but I did want to mention them for future reference. All in all - with the way the dice went - Ivan had little to no chance here. |
| Zelck09-28-06, 02:47 PM | @TelinArtho: Tactics received. @Both my gladiators: The pegasus is OK. |
| Jerrick_QueKiri09-28-06, 03:12 PM | @ Hogarth: I will have you miniquest up later today, after my Chem class (as much as I love science, I loathe stoichiometry). |
| Stormwind09-28-06, 05:27 PM | @Jerrick_QueKiri: Dessius's miniquest to join WAR is up here. @Papapeperoni: Marcus's miniquest to join EYE is up here. @Pittbull, Sauro: Mission is up here. |
| Milov09-28-06, 05:37 PM | Telin - Tactics for Ventr written and sent, PM with any issues. UserNamer - Tactics for Ihdald will be sent soon, probably after dinner. EDIT: UserNamer - Tactics for Ihdald sent out, PM me for any issues. |
| False_Keraptis09-28-06, 08:29 PM | @TelinArtho Hirumajoe: Tactics for Gundmir sent by PM. Whoops, I see the pitlord for this match has been changed. I've sent you my tactics now, Hirumajoe. |
| Jerrick_QueKiri09-28-06, 09:27 PM | @ Hogarth: I will have you miniquest up later today, after my Chem class (as much as I love science, I loathe stoichiometry). Hogarth, sorry, but I received an unexpected Chemistry assignment from my professor, and will be unable to get your mq up tonight. However, my only class tomorrow is at 8am (meaning I get back to my internet connection around 9:30 or so). So when I get back from that class I will get your stuff up. Again, I'm really sorry and hope you can forgive me. |
| hogarth09-28-06, 09:40 PM | Hogarth, sorry, but I received an unexpected Chemistry assignment from my professor, and will be unable to get your mq up tonight. Again, I'm really sorry and hope you can forgive me. Don't worry about it -- there'll be plenty of time to finish a miniquest by Wednesday, I'm sure! |
| Hirumajoe09-28-06, 11:38 PM | @False_Keraptis: Tactics received. |
| Zevox09-29-06, 12:02 AM | Okay, I have Uilo's tactics and the problem is cleared up. If lonewolf can get The Chameleon's tactics by then I can run that saturday afternoon (need tomorrow for some research and essay writing). Zevox |
| Pittbull09-29-06, 04:45 AM | @My gladiators (MW,Ayyini): All tactics received, I'll run the fight as soon as possible, but I don't know when so far, it won't be late, I promise. |
| lonewolf09-29-06, 05:35 AM | All tactics sent. |

| Zelck09-29-06, 01:44 PM | Andurwin Calathos (Zelck) vs Istima Telarc (Zevox) is up. No complaints. I can't believe I forgot about Energy Bolt. Heh. |
| Zevox09-29-06, 02:10 PM | @ Telin - No complaints here either. @ Zelck - Yeah, that surprised me when I read your tactics. Thats going to be Istima's primary offensive power for a good long time, so I never expected anyone to overlook it. Well, good match anyway. Maybe next level we can get a team fight instead :) . Zevox |
| TelinArtho09-29-06, 02:13 PM | I've sent a few PMs to my gladiators because of basic assumptions in their tactics either being completely incorrect or just based on misinformation. If I do not receive a reply, I will forge ahead anyway as I am running the fights now. |
| Erithmu09-29-06, 02:15 PM | @Sauro: MWB and I are in final stages of tactics, we might need a small extension for the Guild fight EYE vs EHTC |
| Zevox09-29-06, 02:21 PM | Speaking of which, I dropped Huan a line as soon as that interception was announced (I didn't even realize it was possible - you should really add Loddick to the EYE's member roster in thier thread) to both let him know it was happening and offer to write tactics if he couldn't, but haven't heard from him since. If he doesn't send any or reply to my PM, would there be any problems with me writing up some to make sure he at least has some to work with? Zevox |

Zevox It's fine with me, my past two weeks have been nutty, and he only joined as your mission with Nell was announced. (I'm actually behind a week or two on updating the EYE thread. I started school this week and had to run a BBQ for 65 people this week as well.) Also: @Zevox: clarification for Eraca's tactics sent |

| TelinArtho09-29-06, 05:02 PM | Wisp (c00lz3) vs Lutup Krackney (amorax_kaka) is up. If someone could do amorax a favor and truly pore through his sheet - it would help him immensely. I don't have the time today to go through everything or else I would do it myself. |
| Erithmu09-29-06, 06:21 PM | Eraca vs Kilmahri is up. Modifications made on both sides. Some dumb numbers luck in a couple of occasions that could have been really really nasty. (Had a chance for a nice 3d8+18, missed by 2.) |

| Zevox09-29-06, 08:07 PM | Eraca vs Kilmahri is up. Modifications made on both sides. Some dumb numbers luck in a couple of occasions that could have been really really nasty. (Had a chance for a nice 3d8+18, missed by 2.) First, let me say that that Frost enchantment is the best 6,000 gp Eraca ever spent :D . That said... *winces* theres a few errors that, much as I'd like, I just can't let pass by: First (and yes, there is a reason I'm saying this even though I won), I did ask to use my scroll of shield to put that up if the memorized one failed. High AC, as I said in my second PM, was rather essential to my tactics. Second, there was a distinct reason I didn't ask to go to the roof myself (just a balcony): while up there you're balancing, and so lose dex to AC without 5 ranks in the skill. That means going to the roof rather screws Eraca badly, since she loses 6 of her AC, and as I said her high AC is essential to the tactics. In that last round, theres the little factor that Kimahri's weapon is a reach weapon, so if Eraca was in range of it she could always 5' back to evade AoOs (+10 balance check vs DC 15 - not much chance for failure there, and no disadvantage if it does). And if she was adjacent and couldn't 5' step out of reach she should only be getting struck by his armor spikes, which do significantly less damage. Also, I'm not quite sure why Kimhari started out just staying ranged, then moved to melee when he raged. Shouldn't it be one or the other? He only wanted to rage for the hp anyway... All that said, I don't see the fight changing if Eraca doesn't climb the building. Instead she could continue buffing in spite of her foes closing (with shield up she has an AC 30 and 50% miss chance from invis, which would be hard for him to hit, and pretty much impossible for the horse), get Exp. Retreat up, and from there its all a matter of time before those shots go off and Kimahri goes down. If Dr. Funk doesn't want it edited, I see no reason to do so. Oh, and just an observation with no effect on the fight, you listed Eraca as turned into a Trog that whole time, but it was a Lizardfolk ;) . @Zevox: a 10 round buff cycle with no interrupt contingency *whistles* gutsy. Actually, it was 8 rounds only, and with two spells to cut out if needed specified (Blur/Resist Energy). Given the size of the map it seemed fine to me, though I suppose an interruption contingency would have been a good idea even on that map in hindsight. Forgot how quickly someone with 40ft speed can traverse that map. Zevox |

At that point I went back and added in the PBS damage and since rage is a free action it got bumped up to that round. I switched as he was starting to have difficulty hitting you after his silly string of luck. His int isn't that high, but he has enough wisdom to know that he isn't winning that fight. That was all pitlord option. re: Reach - If you took a 5ft step back ... there isn't any more roof for you to step back onto. Unless you want to fall 20 ft onto the horse .... Re: Trog: sorry ... thats my standard switch for alterself on my pbp wizard Sola (see sig). I must have seen lizardman, though scales, oil, swamp, trog. The mods to your abilities are still right, so its just a typo. I'll take most of this into consideration after we hear from Dr. Funk. |

I'll take most of this into consideration after we hear from Dr. Funk. If, you mean. He doesn't seem to post very often... Zevox |

(You can see a copy of that announcement in post 1 of this thread). You just happen to have had yoer lowest level character written up, resulting in both being imprisoned. So you should probably get Ba'al's problem fixed ASAP. Oh, and since I noticed it earlier, put the date in those title lines - Cat won't pair you without it, since he wouldn't be sure when you're set to ready for. Zevox |
| MindWandererB09-29-06, 08:58 PM | We've got this new title format you have to follow, due to the way the pairingsmaker works. You have to move the "Ready for 09/27 [Fight (3)] - (Slight of Hand +120gp)" up to the title line (and change 09 to Sep, to be Euro-friendly). Edit: Ba'al may be in prison, but he hasn't been there long enough (for once) to incur the mega-block on Book's characters. The problem was the title line. |

| TheMagister09-30-06, 11:52 AM | Good grief!! 3 pages and 20 round for one fight ... that is Telin quality questing. His luck with the dice when he's questlording should be near legendary around here by now. Sdentch was the recipient of probably no less than...oh...maybe 6 natural 20s. Add to that the super-high average damage rolling (Sdentch has stoneskin buffed, and they STILL took her down to critical HPs in about 4 rounds). Still, it was the bleeding that really hurt. TM |

I was sure he was coming to grapple, that I forgot he could melee me without being in my melee range. Thanks for the run hogarth. Edit: Just FYI, Daisy could attack with the sling since she has 2 attack per round and Morathor can deflect just one. I would need the devil's luck to win this way, so no need to change anything (But you never know. Maybe in the future I will adopt NiQil's "never surrender" philosophy...) |
| Zelck09-30-06, 02:44 PM | Maybe in the future I will adopt NiQil's "never surrender" philosophy...) Well, technically Daisy's fight against Anixx wasn't a surrender, I just ended the fight one round earlier to make it a better story ;). |

Actually, it takes a move action to reload a sling: When using a bow, a character can draw ammunition as a free action; crossbows and slings require an action for reloading. I don't have any problem with continuing the fight, if you wish. Daisy could fire off a couple of Flame Strikes and even hit him with some lightning. However, he has a full dorje's worth of healing at his disposal so it seems like a foregone conclusion to me. Pittbull, do you have any comments to make? |

| Traevanon10-01-06, 08:38 AM | I'm glad I didnt need the second Hold Person because in drawing the scroll of minor enhancement I meant to cast Shield of Faith from it, whereas my tactics actually say "from memory". Thanks for catching that. |
| Zevox10-01-06, 09:19 AM | Pestilence vs Ceilia and Khabil (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10236220&postcount=47) is up. Check for mistakes. Could someone help me with the rewards? I never seem to get them right on these multiplayer fights. And NiQil, there is a major issue on Pestilence that I have commented on the fight. I'll post it also in the prison. On Pestilence's issue, there is something you're missing. All of NiQil's Horsemen have the Wild Talent feat, which gives them 2 pp. He just doesn't list those anywhere since he has no use for them. On the fight, largely it looks good. For some reason in it you called the Hold Person save a fortitude instead of will, but since you rolled a will no harm no foul. You did miss that Pestilence's readied shot should have gone off when Khabil cast Shield of Faith from his scroll, but that won't change anything unless the shot is a crit. Anyway, rewards are simple. The chart for xp rewards for different levels is in the same post of the rules thread as that for same levels: just find out how much xp a level 4 gets for beating a level 6 (2,400) and divide it by two for the two teammates (1,200) to get thier xp and gp rewards. For Pestilence its how much a level 6 gets for a level 4 (900), times two for the two teammates (1,800), divide by three for losing (600), then use that little ratio of Usurpator's to get the gp (600 xp x 1.11 = 666 gp). In this case Pestilence also gets a 6.25% bonus for Ceilia's horse (Ceilia takes no penalty due to Forgery). So, rewards are: Ceilia and Khabil: 1,200 xp and gp. Pestilence: 637 xp and 707 gp. | TelinArtho10-01-06, 09:38 AM | Kraegin vs. Karen (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10234751&postcount=45) is up. It was over very quickly. Well, I do have an issue here. I have a very specific issue with the fight. I had tactics to deal with the grapple - and your response was that I wasn't going to escape: If I am grappled and there are summons still out, try to pin. If there are no summons, try to break the grapple. Now - Kraegin has a +8 grapple check while his opponents have +14 and +15. I agree that it is unlikely that Kraegin will escape. However, I don't agree that he will never get out of the grapple. Also, with the current rules of the FAQ - the pegasus does not get all of its natural attacks in the grapple - but rather only one grapple check per allowed by BAB. In other words - I want you to roll it out. The DR from my armor shaves off a lot of damage - and that's the reason why I spent so much on it. |
| Zelck10-01-06, 01:52 PM | In other words - I want you to roll it out. The DR from my armor shaves off a lot of damage - and that's the reason why I spent so much on it. Done. Nothing changed, except Karen used an extra PP. The reason I didn't roll it out at first is that in order to escape, you have to beat three opposed grapple rolls, and then resist 4 grapples to avoid being grappled again. |
| Pittbull10-01-06, 01:54 PM | Pittbull, do you have any comments to make? No, thanks a lot for running the fight. |

Stupid Will saves....I figured that's what would happen...that's the one glaring weakness that the Horsemen have... At least I can take solace in the fact that resources were spent by my opponents that turned out be a rather large waste LOL Ah well...at least now I can buy those Boots of Striding and Springing I have been waiting on....ever seen a dwarf keep up with a horse? LOL |
| Zevox10-01-06, 02:14 PM | At least I can take solace in the fact that resources were spent by my opponents that turned out be a rather large waste LOL Bah, I wouldn't call a 1st level spell and 100 gp worth of scrolls a large waste. Quite the contrary, since had those Hold Person spells failed they were the only thing giving Ceilia a fighting chance against you - 100 gp for a saftey net sounds reasonable to me ;). Zevox |

| TheMagister10-02-06, 02:32 AM | Why are the tactics of Hood and Krug FW'd from TelinArtho? Greets, --Papapeperoni Because initially (the first few hours after pairings were rolled) TelinArtho was the pitlord of our fight. It was only after some juggling that you ended up with it. No big deal. TM |
| Papapeperoni10-02-06, 04:08 AM | @TheMagister: Another thing: Where do you get Krug's -20 grapple penalty from? --Papapeperoni |

| Papapeperoni10-02-06, 05:07 AM | Monsieur Hood vs. Krug Butcher is up. It looked good for Hood until I saw Krug had deflect arrows :twitch: . Couldn't do anything for you, Magister, sorry. Rewards are coming right up. --Papapeperoni |
| TheMagister10-02-06, 11:02 AM | I have some complaints, but nothing that warrants an edit: One: *I knew Krug had deflect arrows; that's why I went for the grapple. What crappy luck to pull a natural 1 on the touch attack! A darned 5% chance of losing, and there it is. {sigh} You got away with one, DSugui. As I outlined in my tactics, Krug's grapple mod while wielding a Tower Shield is this: Krug’s grapple mod while wielding a tower shield is -21 [+9 -20(one-handed)-10(ACP:non-proficient)] and possibly -23 if the normal -2 penalty to attacks applies to grapples as well. This makes him a grapple target. Per the Tower Shield rules (and the heavy shield, though I don't think it ever came up here before now), if you're equipped with a heavy or tower shield, you can't use that hand for anything else. So, you take the "grappling one-handed" penalty of -20. Also, Krug is non-proficient with the tower shield, and takes its Armor Check Penalty to all attacks and checks while wielding it. 2: Removing a Tower Shield (or any shield, for that matter) is a move action (see the Equipment: Armor section of the player's handbook). Krug's full attack/critical claw strike when he bases me is impossible. 3: Hood and Krug both need jump checks to clear the 3' tall low walls around Hood's starting box. However, Krug and Hood both have good jump boni on the check, so it's not a big deal. That's enough, I guess. Once that touch attack failed, the fight was over if Krug decided not to pick up the tower shield. Things that could have happened would be: Hood makes his jump check [DC 12 (3' tall high jump with no 20' running start) and Krug fails it. This buys Hood the time to get skate going and to get into the other starting square. Hood rapid shoots at Krug as he advances, doing enough damage while Krug runs to bring him down. (Possible) Krug picks up his shield and advances again. Hood gets another shot at grappling. (Possible). Krug makes his jump check and harries Hood all around the map, bringing him down eventually. (Very Likely) All of these options would require a lot of rolling and time. I'm resigned to losing to the dice on this one. {Sigh x 2} TM |
| Papapeperoni10-02-06, 12:05 PM | @TheMagister: I'm now getting the Tower Shield rules. But about the jump check, I had been looking in my books for it, but couldn't find anything specific in the PHB about jumping over low walls. So I looked up the rules for obstacles and there it said that moving through a square with an obstacle, or an obstacle between squares (a low wall is given as an example) it takes 10 ft. extra of your movement. That's the rules I used and you can see that by the amount of distance you moved after 'jumping' over the wall. About the psicrystal, did I do it correct making him 'walk' (or whatever he does) next to you, or should I assume he's in your pocket or something? The god of dices is in a bad mood when I pitlord for you :( Greets, --Papapeperoni |
| TelinArtho10-02-06, 12:27 PM | Ned the Rouge Saint (McJarvis) vs Montana (UserNamer) is up. Both probably should have received further PMs to address issues - but I was out of time when I realized it. Better to write in contingencies than assume that something won't work completely. |
| hogarth10-02-06, 12:34 PM | Ned the Rouge Saint (McJarvis) vs Montana (UserNamer) is up. Telin, you should note that pushing an animal is a DC 25 check, not a DC 20 check (according to the SRD). |
| Abyssal Stalker10-02-06, 12:39 PM | I've finally added the rewards and 3FC info to the inter-league fight. Thanks Z for calculating the rewards! Traevanon, your concerns have been noted in the fight summary. |
| TelinArtho10-02-06, 12:44 PM | Telin, you should note that pushing an animal is a DC 25 check, not a DC 20 check (according to the SRD). hmm - go figure. I don't know why I thought it was 20. Okay - so the first one fails, but the grapple one still works. Given the movement direction in the first round - the fight still resolves in the same way. |
| DSugui10-02-06, 01:02 PM | Monsieur Hood vs. Krug Butcher is up. It looked good for Hood until I saw Krug had deflect arrows :twitch: . Couldn't do anything for you, Magister, sorry. Rewards are coming right up. --PapapeperoniThanks for the run, Papa. Nice strategy, TM, I surely didn't think you would go for that. It seems the dice gods really like Krug, though. |
| McJarvis10-02-06, 01:13 PM | Ned the Rouge Saint (McJarvis) vs Montana (UserNamer) is up. Both probably should have received further PMs to address issues - but I was out of time when I realized it. Better to write in contingencies than assume that something won't work completely. yeah... General notes: His wolf doesn't seem to be trained with a trick to allow it to grapple. I seem to recall animals needing to be trained to do this...if I'm wrong on that please PM me before running the fight so I can put in appropriate tactics for his wolf trying to grapple me. But I don't care enough to ask for a re-do or anything... :) |
| TelinArtho10-02-06, 01:24 PM | Well, like I said - rather than telling me to PM - why didn't you just include the tactic. Just because he needed a trick doesn't mean he can't do it - a DC25 push is not that tough for most druids and the companions. I didn't see the PM request until I needed to run the fight and at that point, I didn't have time to wait for a response. |

I didn't see the PM request until I needed to run the fight and at that point, I didn't have time to wait for a response. yeah, I understand..it's ok. I'm not really playing Ned for the perfect record, so it doesn't affect me that much. I guess my question is answered, at the very least.(I thought grappling and special activities like it were so special that they required training, and not just handle animal checks for untrained activities) edit- Besides...facing a druid who didn't have to spend any expendibles or spell slots on his first battle of the 3FC is just depressing enough. I'd rather not have to look at another fight where I lose horridly. |
| TelinArtho10-02-06, 02:45 PM | Ventr the Dreamer (Milov) vs Alexander (UserNamer) is up. |
| McJarvis10-02-06, 04:07 PM | Brutus Vs Zax (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10247461&postcount=54) is up. I would have made everyone run, but I didn't see it in the tactics..and my standard policy is to do double-moves for movement unless otherwise stated. |

| DSugui10-02-06, 05:04 PM | Neidr (bgt) vs. Loddick (Erithmu) vs. Kitty (lonewolf) is up HERE and HERE No surprises, I think. |
| TelinArtho10-02-06, 05:04 PM | @McJarvis - That is before adjustments for allies. |
| McJarvis10-02-06, 05:06 PM | One of these days I'll get that right. edit- All the same, @Augustus: Good job overall. You got super-duper unlucky with many of those attack rolls(not one auto-hit in the whole crowd)..if you had hit him one more time it probably would have swung your way. |
| Erithmu10-02-06, 05:25 PM | Neidr (bgt) vs. Loddick (Erithmu) vs. Kitty (lonewolf) is up HERE and HERE No surprises, I think. Only that I killed two pets ... |
| Papapeperoni10-02-06, 05:34 PM | Stormwind, where are you? I'm not sure about quests, but if they need to be done in one day, it's gonna be a real hassle. If you can't make it, please tell so someone else could take over the quest. Greetings, --Papapeperoni |
| Augustus110-02-06, 09:01 PM | @ McJarvis: are you sure you were not rolling d10s for my attack rolls and str checks? :D Good fight, thanks for running it. I expected the dog to close in for melee, I did not anticipate he'd be able to finish me off from range just with the the Produce Flames. On that: I think you got my entangled touch AC wrong. I have it as 10+0dex+2 SoF+1Dodge=13. You had me hit twice with an 11 and once with a 12. Would not change the outcome of the fight I guess, so no biggie. @TelinA: good build. Gives me more food for thought for my next CoCo character... I though you were walking in with all 3 pets! And still thought I had a chance... I also completely miscalculated the size of the field... From my calcs our starting positions would have been more than 1k feet apart! |
| MindWandererB10-02-06, 09:27 PM | Neidr (bgt) vs. Loddick (Erithmu) vs. Kitty (lonewolf) is up HERE and HERE No surprises, I think. Just one mistake: when you make a ranged attack into a grapple, you have a 50/50 chance of hitting either of the grapplers. So rounds 9, 10, 11, and 13, there should be a d2 to determine whether Loddick hits the lion or Neidr. |
| McJarvis10-02-06, 10:11 PM | @ McJarvis: are you sure you were not rolling d10s for my attack rolls and str checks? :D I suppose it's a good thing for Telin that I use an online roller, because I wanted to "help" you out when the rolls were going bad for you.( ;) - not that I would have...but it would have been tempting) I always feel awful when 1 gladiator gets screwed over by all-bad rolls. :( Good fight, thanks for running it. I expected the dog to close in for melee, I did not anticipate he'd be able to finish me off from range just with the the Produce Flames. On that: I think you got my entangled touch AC wrong. I didn't realize deflection bonuses were applied to touch attacks. If someone can confirm that for me, I'll lodge it in my brain for future fights. |
| False_Keraptis10-02-06, 10:23 PM | I didn't realize deflection bonuses were applied to touch attacks. If someone can confirm that for me, I'll lodge it in my brain for future fights. Yep, they are. Take a look at the touch AC for any incorporeal creature in the SRD. |
| Zevox10-02-06, 10:49 PM | I didn't realize deflection bonuses were applied to touch attacks. If someone can confirm that for me, I'll lodge it in my brain for future fights. Yep. Deflection bonuses applies to all ACs - regular, touch, flat-footed, and flat-footed touch alike. Zevox |

| McJarvis10-03-06, 12:32 AM | @NiQil: I freaking love you for specifying to run in your tactics. My default is double-move action to close, and the plains map is tedious without run actions... :-) |
| NiQil10-03-06, 12:34 AM | @NiQil: I freaking love you for specifying to run in your tactics. My default is double-move action to close, and the plains map is tedious without run actions... :-) It's in my best interest, as I stated in my tactics. If I predicted my opponents actions correctly, I have 12 rounds of attacks from him, max, before the Horsemen are down. I'm curious to see how I did. |

If I predicted my opponents actions correctly, I have 12 rounds of attacks from him, max, before the Horsemen are down. I'm curious to see how I did. Yeah, with a glaring weak point like that it's pretty hard NOT to predict what I would have Perius do. :) |
| Hirumajoe10-03-06, 12:44 AM | Quick question: In the description of Hold person, it says: The subject becomes paralyzed and freezes in place. It is aware and breathes normally but cannot take any actions, even speech. Each round on its turn, the subject may attempt a new saving throw to end the effect. (This is a full-round action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.) Now does this mean there is one or two saving throws before the caster's next action? I.e. Caster casts, saving throw, then on opponent's turn saving throw again, then caster acts. Or is there no initial saving throw and the first one occurs on the target's action? |

| NiQil10-03-06, 12:57 AM | Yeah, with a glaring weak point like that it's pretty hard NOT to predict what I would have Perius do. :) I figured as much...the Horsemen have two really glaring weaknesses...low Cha and bad Will saves. Two things that make casters and manifesters their bane. |
| McJarvis10-03-06, 01:30 AM | Just ran the fight, but I just thought of an error. D&^@#$. The dwarves run speed is not 120ft, but rather 160ft. Going back to revise. |
| Ravashack10-03-06, 01:35 AM | I figured as much...the Horsemen have two really glaring weaknesses...low Cha and bad Will saves. Two things that make casters and manifesters their bane. Just manifesters for the low Charisma I think. I don't recall any arcane spells that would lower Charisma at ECL 8. Edit: And another error for you McJarvis. Perius is only! an 8th level Wilder, so Psychic Enervation will only drop his PP total by 8, not 9. Edit: And yet another. 4th Ego Whip has to be the 2d4 Cha damage one. Perius only has 5 PP available for this week. |
| McJarvis10-03-06, 01:58 AM | Edit: And another error for you McJarvis. Perius is only! an 8th level Wilder, so Psychic Enervation will only drop his PP total by 8, not 9. Fixed Edit: And yet another. 4th Ego Whip has to be the 2d4 Cha damage one. Perius only has 5 PP available for this week. The first two rolls of the original 3d4 I rolled were a 1 and a 3, which would have done the 2 damage necessary to take down Famine anyway...but I re-rolled just to be extra sure & the rolls were a 4 & 3 the second time around. Same result...strangely the increased speed in the dwarves only let P start manifesting 1 turn earlier, so it didn't affect the outcome much. Final fight can be found here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10252570&postcount=58) |
| Ravashack10-03-06, 02:10 AM | <3 210 feet range. :D I guess Fate has spoken then... |
| bgt10-03-06, 07:49 AM | @DSugui: Regarding Neidr's fight, why didn't you have Neidr shift into hybrid form? That would have been much closer to my tactics then trying to futily grapple. |
| Hirumajoe10-03-06, 08:13 AM | Gundmir (False_Keraptis) vs. R'y mund (NedTheDestroyer) : Hirumjajoe [Arena] is up here. |
| SauroGrenom10-03-06, 09:14 AM | Does mirror image have an effect if you are invisible? Don't you have to see the images in order to hit one. Basicially if you are attacking someone invisible with mirror image is it possible to attack the "wrong image" if the image is invisible? Edit: Bah, it's in the spell description... sorry for the dumb question. I need to look this stuff up. |
| SauroGrenom10-03-06, 10:34 AM | Sunstroke & Loddick vs Nell Sorry for the delay. I'll get the rewards done tonight. I've already let finishing this make me late. I can already find one minor error, but it's not fight changing. Cookies to anyone who can find it. I can critique tactics as well if you like. |

Has anyone seen ayyiniwindryder? |
| Macbrea10-03-06, 11:37 AM | Dronnar vs Sir Valkin should be done at these locations. Here and Here I have probably missed something in that if the players could check over the fight. It really is kind of annoying trying to move large creatures on that map. |
| DSugui10-03-06, 12:18 PM | Dronnar vs Sir Valkin should be done at these locations. Here and Here I have probably missed something in that if the players could check over the fight. | Erithmu10-03-06, 12:20 PM | Sunstroke & Loddick vs Nell Sorry for the delay. I'll get the rewards done tonight. I've already let finishing this make me late. I can already find one minor error, but it's not fight changing. Cookies to anyone who can find it. I can critique tactics as well if you like. No love on the dice for poor Loddick. |
| DSugui10-03-06, 12:44 PM | @DSugui: Regarding Neidr's fight, why didn't you have Neidr shift into hybrid form? That would have been much closer to my tactics then trying to futily grapple. You mean, change to the animal form? I don't see how changing to a small form would help you (btw, your sheet has the grapple mod in the animal block wrong. It would be -1, since you have -4 penalty for the small size) |
| TelinArtho10-03-06, 01:15 PM | Yeah - that went pretty much the way I expected and then I got bad rolls to boot... However, there are a few hits that would have missed due to cover from Overseer - most notably in round 19, two hits from the hippogriff would have missed. In round 18, since Dronnar isn't expanded, Sir Valkin should get a +1 height advantage to hit attack roll - which would make that smite a hit. Ultimately though - the fight doesn't change because of that monster hit in round 20... so no need to edit unless you want to fix the minor things. |
| SauroGrenom10-03-06, 01:27 PM | No love on the dice for poor Loddick. Yea there were two unlikely events that realy slew loddick so fast. The Griffon made it's will save, and the crit. I must comment though that the ego whip wasn't highly likely to slay the griffon anyway. The average ability damage is only 2.5, and the creature had 8 Cha. So you would expect it to take 4 rounds of hitting with that to kill it. Then it's not realy dead, you still need to spend time dealing a CDG to slay it. All the while Nell is buffing and hitting something with his greatsword. And if the griffon makes a save or two, then you are realy in bad shape as it charges and pounces you. If loddick had sunstroke helping him out in melee, they would have had a better chance of defeating the griffon and turning it against Nell. If you had the griffon against him and loddick and sunstroke survived the attack on the griffon, then you'd have had vastly superior chances of winning. I think that on this map with Loddick's build it was a mistake to put Loddick against the griffon and expect a win. Sunstroke's buff sequence was a bit too long considering how the griffon was an immediate threat. Just like a TT game, it is typicially smart to concentrate firepower against one foe at a time if you can. It's better to have 1 dead enemy than 5 wounded by still fighting ones. |
| Macbrea10-03-06, 02:04 PM | Even with the edits to it. It doesn't change the outcome I will go ahead and let you guys edit. The smite would have resulted in 15 damage as I rolled the damage in that round but realized I couldn't expand because I was at the edge of the map. That is the reason for the round of moving around the big tree. Where Dronnar takes an attack against him but doesn't really seem to return much. The map isn't really designed for large mounts at all. |
| TelinArtho10-03-06, 02:11 PM | I'm fully aware of the problems with that map... It makes me wish I could get a class-leveled mount with 2 levels in Druid so that it can charge through the underbrush... (but that's what my were-deinonychus will be doing - so I don't want to copy him too much. Sir Valkin really is a 1-trick pony. He had great success in the lower leagues and has pretty much failed since then. I have other designs that would make him work "better" - but I happen to like him as is... |
| Macbrea10-03-06, 02:18 PM | He should be powerful if you could ever get lucky and fight on the open plains map. But the randomlizer doesn't seem to like putting fights that makes sense. :P I think it's the main reason I cannot bring myself to play a mounted knight in my sunday games. |
| MindWandererB10-03-06, 02:26 PM | @Sauro: There's a good chance you're right, but I'm not sure we would have survived Nell in that case. Had the griffon not crit, or had been dazed, Loddick should have been able to beat it. @Zevox: Psionic powers cannot be countered by spells. So a ring of counterspells has no effect on Dispel Psionics. |
| Macbrea10-03-06, 02:28 PM | In another part of Gladius, the young lady walks down the side street looking for the arena muttering to herself, 'Hmm, it seems the EHTC bookies must have wanted me to fight Anakala, again!' She looks about at the confusing maze of streets and wonders which direction the arena was again. It appears Izumi might have gotten lost in route to the arena. Has anyone seen her pitlord? |

And since the result is that close, I will stand ready to do edits tomorrow. It actually looks pretty good to me. I don't think melee was "absolutely unavoidable" in that instance, so if there are edits to be made, I'd like you to consider that, but if you don't have to change anything else, it's okay. Actually, one other thing: how Annix and Aerryl see each other from all the way across the map like that, with buildings in the way? |
| NiQil10-03-06, 06:31 PM | Looks like we have quite a few fights still to be finished. Has anyone seen ayyiniwindryder? So since we are past deadline, anyone willing to pick up the War vs Destra fight? ayyiniwindryder seems to have both of his fights outstanding... |
| Zevox10-03-06, 06:32 PM | @Zevox: Psionic powers cannot be countered by spells. So a ring of counterspells has no effect on Dispel Psionics. Hm... I never thought about that, but I suppose there isn't a "counter-manifesting" mechanic, is there? I just figured the magic-psionics transparency would cause that to work. You learn something new every day. Zevox |

I just figured the magic-psionics transparency would cause that to work. You learn something new every day. Zevox No there isn't. In fact, if you look at the text for Dispel Psionics it doesn't even have counterspelling/countermanifesting as an option for it, which it should have if there actually was such a mechanic. |

Anixx is also dying at the end of the fight, not dead and since i still posess attack capacity by way of summons the fight should not end there. ~Iced |
| lonewolf10-04-06, 11:42 AM | I have DR 3/-- from my armor and it wasn't included. Including this would have Anixx winning this fight. the DR was included whenever it was appropriate (not against the arrowhawks attack or the swarms wounding) Anixx is also dying at the end of the fight, not dead and since i still posess attack capacity by way of summons the fight should not end there. Predator has still an attack in that round that hits automatically and would kill him. |
| Papapeperoni10-04-06, 11:53 AM | Since Stormwind was unable to finish my MQ on time, I think it is going to be moved to next week. Do I need to change my title or anything? Is it still week 1 for me? If I PM Pitlords that I want to activate an ECL 4 character, do I just say to him I want to pay the 5 credits, or is there something else that needs to be done? Greetings, --Papapeperoni |
| MindWandererB10-04-06, 12:14 PM | Since Stormwind was unable to finish my MQ on time, I think it is going to be moved to next week. Do I need to change my title or anything? Is it still week 1 for me?Do nothing. It will be rolled over, just like a fight. It will say "week 2" on the roster, but it's still your week 1 fight. If I PM Pitlords that I want to activate an ECL 4 character, do I just say to him I want to pay the 5 credits, or is there something else that needs to be done?Nope, that's it. PM with the request and a link to the character, the same way you'd do an ECL 3 one, and set it to ready. |
| TelinArtho10-04-06, 12:31 PM | Sorry NiQil and Zevox - I'd pick up the fight - but I'm far too busy this week to even attempt it - let alone today. Looks like Ana's fight will be held over as well. If someone could create the FotW thread for this week - that would be great. Make sure to include the new free activities and such as well. |
| Zevox10-04-06, 02:50 PM | Sorry NiQil and Zevox - I'd pick up the fight - but I'm far too busy this week to even attempt it - let alone today. Looks like Ana's fight will be held over as well. No problem - by the time you made that post I would no longer have had the opportunity to send Destra's tactics anyway, with my school schedule as it is. It'll just get necessarily held over... *sigh* If someone could create the FotW thread for this week - that would be great. Make sure to include the new free activities and such as well. I can do that I suppose. Edit: Correction, Waywreth beat me to it while I posting this. Zevox |
| TelinArtho10-04-06, 02:51 PM | Well - waywreth already created it - so no problems there. |
