| MitzaVolchenko03-16-07, 12:51 PM | http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v694/uninvitedtruth/faeriepokerwp800.jpg Welcome! Bring your credits! Have a drink on the house! We shall happily let you bet with each other or perhaps the House will take a wager where others fear to risk! Rules: Wagers must be clearly marked as actual wagers, not just random comments on what odds "you would give." Put BET in your subject line for the post. Pitlords will be backing up the pay out, so don't gamble more than you can afford to lose. Single fight odds will be posted as soon as I come up with a fair way of setting the house odds. I encourage for my sanity that you bet more with each other than the House, but the HOUSE will take bets where nobody else will. No off topic chatter in this thread, please. Bets, once posted, may not be edited once the House notes them as confirmed. IMT Full Card Bet How it works: You list your full card picks for the tournament. You donate a credit to the pot. When the tourney concludes the person or persons with the most correct wins the pot. This is your cheapest and easiest way to join the gambling fun. This will be conducted in two halves. For now, just make your picks for the first eight fights to run. |
| MitzaVolchenko03-16-07, 12:52 PM | Alright, open a new thread for that and set it up. It has to be organized; ie clear how many credits I get if I bet on this one or that one. You're the "bank" so people do not necessarily have to bet with each other. By decree of the gods, we apparently have a House Bank to work from as well. |
| MitzaVolchenko03-16-07, 12:52 PM | Confirmed Bets Rauul's ticket confirmed. | hogarth03-16-07, 01:06 PM | By decree of the gods, we apparently have a House Bank to work from as well. I think the idea of having a (potentially) never-ending source of credits to pay out is foolish. I predict there'll be a lot of bets on heavy favorites this way and very few losing bets, resulting in a net injection of credits into the system; in fact, I'd be willing to bet on it. ;) Funny -- considering that Cat has been trying to make credits more rare recently (by cutting out credits for adding maps to fights, for instance). |

Bets with the House have to be approved, and since I am setting the odds and pay out structures, thi sin't much of a danger. Alternately, I can delay Willowmoon's entrance into the arena and bankroll the house myself :) |

Alternately, I can delay Willowmoon's entrance into the arena and bankroll the house myself :) If you're willing to bankroll the betting, go for it! It's not legitimate gambling unless someone pays for misplaying the odds. Otherwise it's just giving out free credits. And who would benefit the most from that? Why, the people who already have the most credits to wager with, of course. (I assume that bettors won't be able to bet credits they don't have.) |

(I assume that bettors won't be able to bet credits they don't have.) That has not yet been determined. It may be allowed with no payout prior to earning the credits for the initial bet. My greater concern is geting the wagers listed before fights begin to run. I will work out these details with Caterane. For now, this thread is bets and odds discussion only. Note that wagers do not have to be just credits! There was a lovely wager between myself and Mal-2 on our Sliver vs. Donak fight. If he won, Iput up a pic of a skewered pixie for Sliver for a week. If I won (which I did), he pasted "Pixies rule, Rangers Drool" across Donak's image. |

| Zevox03-16-07, 01:54 PM | Well, I don't have many credits to work with (just 3...), so I'd best keep this simple. Bet is on the bolded character, 1 credit each. Zassl (Maraxus) vs. Eraca Moralta (Zevox) [City] Archangel Ixenthor (Caterane) vs. Lord Frost (Macbrea) [Plains] Aerryl Nalladar (MindWandererB) vs. Jur the Mad Magician (Tellish_of_Ket) [Temple] I'm not fond of the pot idea, so I guess this is a straight thing with the house, unless someone in particular wants to take the bets. Zevox |
| hogarth03-16-07, 02:01 PM | Well, I don't have many credits to work with (just 3...), so I'd best keep this simple. Bet is on the bolded character, 1 credit each. Odds for individual fights haven't been set yet. The only thing listed so far is a "hockey pool" or "basketball pool" type bet. |
| MitzaVolchenko03-16-07, 02:04 PM | Odds for individual fights haven't been set yet. The only thing listed so far is a "hockey pool" or "basketball pool" type bet. If the single bets aren't taken upby indivduals, the house will take them. I am working out a fair set of odds and manner for the house todo sowithout flooding the credit system. |
| Zevox03-16-07, 02:05 PM | Odds for individual fights haven't been set yet. The only thing listed so far is a "hockey pool" or "basketball pool" type bet. Like I indicated in the Iron Man comments thread, I have no idea what things like that mean. Zevox |
| Tellish_of_Ket03-16-07, 02:37 PM | Addition bets :) I will bet 1 credit on Lady Indivara to beat Lief Goldeneye in the forest.. I will bet 1 Credit on Saffron Brass to beat Va'ria Theladrais in the temple.. I will take that bet. OFFICIAL BET I will bet 1 credit each on Lief and Va'ria with RAUUL! ToK |
| MindWandererB03-16-07, 04:06 PM | I'll put in a ticket. Predicted winners are in bold. Saffron Brass (Vathelokai) vs. Va'ria Theladrais (Sindorin) : Erithmu [Temple] Loddick Saffrion (Erithmu) vs. The Wailing Fugue (Team) : Maraxus [Cavern] Lady Indivara (MitzaVolchenko) vs. Leif Goldeneye (Sunwolf) : Vathelokai [Forest] Aerryl Nalladar (MindWandererB) vs. Jur the Mad Magician (Tellish_of_Ket) : Abyssal Stalker [Temple] Archangel Ixenthor (Caterane) vs. Lord Frost (Macbrea) : MindwandererB [Plains] The Arcane Hand (Team) vs. Uhmentarymster the Old (Caterane) : Tellish of Ket [Forest] Zassl (Maraxus) vs. Eraca Moralta (Zevox) : MitzaVolchenko [City] Telveran Trueblade (Sunwolf) vs. Monsieur Hood (TheMagister) : SauroGrenom [City] Yes, I'm aware that I bet against myself in both cases. I figure that way I get a consolation prize either way. |
| Rauul03-16-07, 04:10 PM | I will take that bet. OFFICIAL BET I will bet 1 credit each on Lief and Va'ria with RAUUL! ToK Oh yea... finally a sucker.. :) |
| Macbrea03-16-07, 04:14 PM | Hmm, my pitlord and everyone else is betting against me. I tell yeah what. I will take MWB's bet against Frost at 10. |

| Abyssal Stalker03-16-07, 04:27 PM | I guess you guys should stop betting on the fight Aerryl vs Jur, because the tactics have been posted! |
| MitzaVolchenko03-16-07, 04:51 PM | All bets going forward must be single fight bets. Aerryl vs. Jur's tactics post close the pool. I will accept unedited pool pick bets from prior threads as valid to the pool. PM me if you weren't just runnin' yer yap in other threads, and I will transfer your bets to the pool. |
| Tellish_of_Ket03-16-07, 04:56 PM | I guess you guys should stop betting on the fight Aerryl vs Jur, because the tactics have been posted! Ya, kinda wasn't expecting his tactics to be done so soon. hhe...i was still mulling stuff over until i read this. Man, i'm hosed. Was thinking of stuff to add, but now i can't. :( ToK |
| McJarvis03-16-07, 06:40 PM | I entered the general pool with 1 change to my initial picks. But no one gets to know what it is except Mitza :) @ToK: I'm not speaking to you for 1 day for not killing the druid. :P |

| McJarvis03-16-07, 07:00 PM | I'll also put 5o on Hood since I'm the leader of his fan club. (wouldn't be right otherwise) Any takers? I don't play around with odds. |
| MitzaVolchenko03-16-07, 07:03 PM | I'll also put 5o on Hood since I'm the leader of his fan club. (wouldn't be right otherwise) Any takers? I don't play around with odds. I'd take the action, but I have Hood as my pick to win that one as well....bank will cover a one credit bet..5 is a bit pricey for the House...don't want to get shut down by the authorities for credit laundering.... |

| McJarvis03-16-07, 07:05 PM | EDIT-> Ok, I'm betting 5 vs ToK. Me for Hood, ToK for Telveran. |
| MindWandererB03-16-07, 07:09 PM | Hmm, my pitlord and everyone else is betting against me. I tell yeah what. I will take MWB's bet against Frost at 10. That wasn't a single bet, it was a full ticket array for the pool. Besides, I would never place a single bet on a fight I was pitlording--that just stinks of ethical misconduct. For the record, I did not use the tactics I received to consider that winner. Heck, Cat's tactics are difficult to evaluate by their sheer complexity. |
| Tellish_of_Ket03-16-07, 07:09 PM | I'll take it. That leaves 4 creds on hood, if anyone else wants in. I think u misread Mitza...she would, but she can't. However, i will take ur bet. ToK |
| McJarvis03-16-07, 07:11 PM | I think u misread Mitza...she would, but she can't. However, i will take ur bet. ToK We keep narcing each other. My post was edited as you posted that :) I was in the process of taking the house's 1 cred, but since you're offering... hell-> why not? :) |
| Macbrea03-16-07, 07:36 PM | ::pppttts:::: Frost isn't afraid of no angel want to be! |
| Zevox03-16-07, 10:59 PM | Wow, I go away for 6 hours of work and when I come back, two of the three fights I bet on are done, and I was right on both. Cool. So, how do I know what I won off those? I know I ought to wait until the 3rd fight is run so I know if I lost there, but if I got at least 1 credit from both, I have enough credits to activate that rebuild of Annalina Vale I've been working on. Zevox |
| MitzaVolchenko03-16-07, 11:12 PM | Bets will be settled when all fights are posted and finalized for this cycle. |
| Zevox03-16-07, 11:14 PM | Bets will be settled when all fights are posted and finalized for this cycle. Okey dokey. Just one query - in this case, does that mean at the end of the two weeks for the first half of this round, or after the entire round? Zevox |

| Caterane03-17-07, 07:10 AM | @Mitza: You should make clear that it is not allowed to edit your post after you made bets! Else someone could edit it and fix the bets. Let's say, if there's the "Edited by XXX" below the post, the bet is not valid. The better has to make a new post instead. Either that or you quote each one or copy/paste it into a reserved post. @all: Do not remove bets you've made. Make a new post if you want to override an old bet. |

| Vathelokai03-17-07, 02:18 PM | Note to betters: Saffron Brass foolishly did not prebuff her allies, so she is going to the fight agains Va'ria alone. This is a significant shift to the odds. |

You have my sympathies on the prebuff...still, any dragon has a chance against a mere mortal!! |
| McJarvis03-19-07, 07:40 AM | Man, I feel kinda bad winning on Hood when it was a defaulted match. :( Not bad enough to give ToK his creds back though :D |
| Tellish_of_Ket03-20-07, 04:10 AM | Man, I feel kinda bad winning on Hood when it was a defaulted match. :( Not bad enough to give ToK his creds back though :D Yeah, after reading it was a surrender, that's just taking candy from a baby. I wish i had known "the fix" was in. ToK |
| McJarvis03-20-07, 06:10 AM | Yeah, after reading it was a surrender, that's just taking candy from a baby. I wish i had known "the fix" was in. ToK I wish I had too, so I could have cleaned you out for all your creds... :-) |

| McJarvis03-20-07, 08:45 AM | Wish i had gotten in on the action myself... This will very likely not be the last time I bet on Hood. Since he holds a special sentimental value to me, you can "bet" on me betting on him so long as it's not going to more or less be a forfeit for him. Actually, I may look at the other half of the pairings tonight & post some offers in general. I talk alot about not caring about credits myself-> I might as well act as a bank-roll and advertise bets people can pick up. :) ~McJ |
| MindWandererB03-20-07, 01:43 PM | Looks like the first week's pool has been decided: Mitza and McJarvis split it. They each picked six out of seven so far, and they chose the same on the last one. Even if they get in wrong, no one can catch up. Looks like you each profit by a whopping 2 credits. But congrats anyway! |
| McJarvis03-20-07, 01:55 PM | Awsome..I honestly thought I was out of the running somehow. :-D When I get some free time this week I'll look into what I'll put those 7 creds I earned in the first week towards. Expect offers from me forthcoming! |

| Vathelokai03-21-07, 02:50 AM | Sure i will bet 1 credit on the 2 storms vs Brilf.. Agreed. 1 credit Rauul = The Two Storms Vathelokai = Brilif Zephyr |
| Zevox03-29-07, 02:17 PM | I think this week I'll enter that ticket betting thing. My picks: Indri'ynar Per'Elereth (Caterane) vs. Noko (Maraxus)[City] Mer-Man (Caterane) vs. Kraegin (TelinArtho) [Arena] Vandelar the Red (SoulLord) vs. Auburn (Vathelokai) [Temple] Besthirah Lafali (MindWandererB) vs. Lissa Longfellow (MysticMonk2005) [Temple] The Two Storms (Team) vs. Brilf Zephyr (Sunwolf) [Sewer] Perius (Ravashack) vs. Raskos the Jade Father (SauroGrenom) [City] Kracknol (SauroGrenom) vs. Gaston Dar'ath (waywreth) [Sewer] Archdevil Asran (Zevox) vs. Retikos, Padparadasha Sage (SauroGrenom) [Temple] Indri vs Noko: Can't bet against Cat. Plus hes got Touchsight, bane of all hiders, and a faerie-fire using cohort. Even on that map, I just don't see Noko getting away alive. Mer-Man vs Kraegin: Again, can't bet against Cat. With Mer-Man's allies and Cat's tactical genius, I don't care what Kraegin summons, I don't think he can win. Vandelar vs Auburn: Very tough call. Mostly just based on who I think is the better tactician, really. Could go either way I think. Besthira vs Lissa: Uber-AC lycanthropic monk with deflect arrows vs mounted archer with no silver arrows? Yeah, thats a tough call. The Two Storms vs Brilf: Tough call, but I think with the tactical idea we came up with we should be able to win. We'll see. Perius vs Raskos: Between Raskos' many tricks, high save DCs and allies, I don't think this one will last long. Perius' saves just aren't high enough. Kracknol vs Gaston: Tough call. Gaston's typical super-vigor strategy will save him I think, and he has lots of ways to finish Kracknol after the alpha strike fails to kill him. Asran vs Rekitos: I can't come close to guaranteeing anything here - it may well be the closest match of this round. So I'm going with what I hope will happen. Zevox |
| SauroGrenom03-29-07, 03:13 PM | Me too. My picks: Indri'ynar Per'Elereth (Caterane) vs. Noko (Maraxus)[City] Mer-Man (Caterane) vs. Kraegin (TelinArtho) [Arena] Vandelar the Red (SoulLord) vs. Auburn (Vathelokai) [Temple] Besthirah Lafali (MindWandererB) vs. Lissa Longfellow (MysticMonk2005) [Temple] The Two Storms (Team) vs. Brilf Zephyr (Sunwolf) [Sewer] Perius (Ravashack) vs. Raskos the Jade Father (SauroGrenom) [City] Kracknol (SauroGrenom) vs. Gaston Dar'ath (waywreth) [Sewer] Archdevil Asran (Zevox) vs. Retikos, Padparadasha Sage (SauroGrenom) [Temple] Indri vs Noko: I give this one to Noko as Cat's first loss. I think she gets a trap, and that will be a nice boon. Also SR is very likely to defeat faeri fire. Touchsight has a limited range especially for a flying archer rogue on the large city map. Noko's AC can be a wopping 35. That's nearly impossible for Indri to hit. Noko's got improved evasion and a good reflex save, so the call lightning isn't that big a deal. The Bat is the biggest problem for Noko, and honestly that's not much of a problem with only 45hp and Noko's DR. Mer-Man vs Kraegin: Although I realy want to see Kraegin paired with some of Cat's other characters, I don't think he'll make it through this fight. In the sewer perhaps. But in the arena, there's not much for him to do. He could blind the mount, but the save DC is not favorable. He could try Hold Person on Mer-Man, but again the save DC isn't favorable. Vandelar vs Auburn: Vandelar has more high DC save or die spells. On the temple map, LOS is achieved quickly. He can dimension door out of a grapple, and magic jar for a will save at DC 27 vs Auburn's +9 will save. That's 85% chance of success if he can get LOS. Blindness is Auburn's only counter save or die spell. That's with only 45% success. Besthira vs Lissa: Yep Zevox pointed it out. I don't see what Lissa can do. The elemental damage on the arrows just won't be enough to win the day. The Two Storms vs Brilf: In the sewer, Brilf has the clear advantage. He will grapple with one of them and make it much harder for the other to be effective. With a more open map, the Two Storms would be the clear favorite. Perius vs Raskos: Barring the most unlucky possibilities, Raskos has this one. Kracknol vs Gaston: It's a race to see if Gaston can spend enough pp to keep alive with vigor while also keeping enough pp to slay Kracknol. The terrain favors Gaston, but it's his battle to loose and there's a resource balancing act to be played for him to win. Asran vs Rekitos: This is a close one to call. We shall see what happens. If the battle lasts more than 3 rounds, Retikos will probably take the victory. Otherwise it will go to Asran. |
| hogarth03-29-07, 03:17 PM | Kracknol (SauroGrenom) vs. Gaston Dar'ath (waywreth) [Sewer] Betting against yourself is usually frowned on in professional sports. Not that I think you'll engage in point shaving, but I'm just saying. ;) |

| McJarvis03-29-07, 09:32 PM | Saffron Brass (Vathelokai) vs. Va'ria Theladrais (Sindorin) : McJarvis Rith [Temple] Loddick Saffrion (Erithmu) vs. The Wailing Fugue (Team) : Maraxus [Cavern] Lady Indivara (MitzaVolchenko) vs. Leif Goldeneye (Sunwolf) : Vathelokai [Forest] Aerryl Nalladar (MindWandererB) vs. Jur the Mad Magician (Tellish_of_Ket) : Abyssal Stalker [Temple] Archangel Ixenthor (Caterane) vs. Lord Frost (Macbrea) : MindwandererB [Plains] The Arcane Hand (Team) vs. Uhmentarymster the Old (Caterane) : Tellish of Ket [Forest] Zassl (Maraxus) vs. Eraca Moralta (Zevox) : MitzaVolchenko [City] Indri'ynar Per'Elereth (Caterane) vs. Noko (Maraxus) : SauroGrenom [City] Mer-Man (Caterane) vs. Kraegin (TelinArtho) : XXXXX [Arena] (dang that's a tough one to call) Telveran Trueblade (Sunwolf) vs. Monsieur Hood (TheMagister) : SauroGrenom [City] Vandelar the Red (SoulLord) vs. Auburn (Vathelokai) : XXXXX [Temple] Besthirah Lafali (MindWandererB) vs. Lissa Longfellow (MysticMonk2005) : XXXXX [Temple] The Two Storms (Team) vs. Brilf Zephyr (Sunwolf) : XXXXX [Sewer] Perius (Ravashack) vs. Raskos the Jade Father (SauroGrenom) : XXXXX [City] Sweet action. Apparently I forgot to list two in my initial betting. Kracknol (SauroGrenom) vs. Gaston Dar'ath (waywreth) [Sewer] Archdevil Asran (Zevox) vs. Retikos, Padparadasha Sage (SauroGrenom) [Temple] |
| Vathelokai03-29-07, 11:40 PM | Hrmmm... seems like popular opinion is evenly split on Auburn vs Vandalar. Personally, I think it will come down to who wins initative. I think most everything has been said about the other fights. |
| SauroGrenom03-30-07, 10:54 AM | Archdevil Asran (Zevox) vs. Retikos, Padparadasha Sage (SauroGrenom) [Temple] Yea! Rock! Zevox, You're going down!:duel: |
| McJarvis03-30-07, 12:35 PM | Yea! Rock! Zevox, You're going down!:duel: While I have been winning alot of bets, I wouldn't count on my vote of confidence meaning much in this case. It was a tough fight to call. :) |
| MindWandererB03-31-07, 07:44 PM | Assuming no re-runs or major changes (*coughMerManKraegincough*), the results are almost in: McJarvis, Sauro, and Tellish have all gotten 5 out of 6 right so far. All bet on Besthirah over Lissa, so that one won't matter; it'll come down to Indri vs. Noko. McJarvis wins the pot (again) if Indri wins, and Sauro and Tellish split it if Noko wins. I don't know why I thought more of the fights were done than was really the case. Disregard this, please. Why do I mention this now? Because if Cat pull Indri out of the tournament, I want to raise the possibility of bet weirdness. Technically Sauro and Tellish win in that case, but it'll be a win by forfeiture, which isn't exactly what they had in mind. |
| Zevox04-01-07, 12:55 AM | So, since Mitza has disappeared for the moment, anyone else going to take over mediating here? The bets from the first half of round 1 still need to be payed out I believe, and of course the current bets need to be logged officially. Zevox |
| MindWandererB04-01-07, 03:08 AM | Mitza will probably be back.. I saw her online not long ago, and she was just under the weather for a while, I believe. She's probably (wisely) just keeping out of the ongoing explosion. A couple of folks know her IRL--perhaps they could give us a status update on her well-being and likelihood of return? It would be nice if she took up the mantle again, since only she (or Cat) can edit the posts at the beginning of this thread. |
| hogarth04-02-07, 12:45 PM | Considering the controversy over the Mer-Man/Kraegin fight, maybe Tellish_of_Ket and I should set aside our bet on it. :( |

These are tough to call in general. Kraegin has proved himself many times. I think Hood has the advantage on the plains over Retikos. I'm not optimistic about Besthirah--being flat-footed all the time hurts her badly, and Noko's AC is almost as good as hers. Gaston vs. Raskos will be the battle of spell resistance, in which Gaston has the edge. I do think Aerryl has the advantage over Eraca, although Zevox is a canny opponent. And I don't think Brilf will be able to handle two magic-heavy opponents in the City very well. |

Indivara vs Va'ria: Again, just too many ways for Va'ria to beat Indi. Plus Va'ria's traditional tactic is still devastating - Feeblemind = none of Mitza's tactics work, from there just blast away while mounted on that phantom steed and thus unable to be caught. Loddick vs Kraegin: Tougher call, but I have faith in Loddick. Kraegin is just too vulnerable to energy missiles I think, so unless he gets lucky with spell resistance, I think hes going down (especially since he doesn't have his summoned friend). Hood vs Rekitos: On the plains? Hood couldn't have asked for a better map. No contest. Noko vs Besthira: In the sewer, Noko can't avoid Besthira's blindsense, and I'm confident MWB can figure out how to overcome her from there. Gaston vs Raskso: With Gaston having the power resistance power and Raskos' low CL/ML, I don't see how Raskos could win. Eraca vs Aerryl: I really do think I can win this, but Aerryl does have the edge (so... many.... spells...), so I figure this way I get something out of the fight whoever wins. Brilf vs Arcane Hand: Having seen Brilf in action, I'm fairly confident he can take these two. Silis just isn't that much of a threat to him, and Owen's skills can only go so far. I do think Aerryl has the advantage over Eraca, although Zevox is a canny opponent. Well, thank you :) . And here I was somewhat afraid I was getting predictable of late. P.S. - So, if Mitza isn't going to be keeping track of these anymore, can we get somebody new appointed to the task? Everyone is still waiting for credits from the past two sets of fights I believe. | SauroGrenom04-13-07, 01:02 PM | Wow. That's 5 against Retikos vs Hood on the plains. I'm the total underdog. I think I've got this one, unless the dice hate me. And 2 of 5 against Raskos vs Gaston on the plains. All I can say is that. I'll dance rings around him when fight night comes. |

| NiQil04-14-07, 12:46 AM | Alright....I've gone back through the records, and I have the final results for Round 1A and Round 1B. I'll be sending this in a PM to Pitlords. For Round 1A, the pool bet winners were McJarvis and MitzaVolchenko. They split the pot. Below is a breakdown of all parties that participated in Round 1A betting and how their credits will be affected (this includes any sidebets with anyone that were made) McJarvis: +7 MindWandererB: -1 MitzaVolchenko: +2 Rauul: -1 Tellish_of_Ket: -6 Vathelokai: -1 For round 1B, the winners of the pool were SauroGrenom and Tellish_of_Ket. All fights in this round that involved Cat's characters that had not already been completed were recorded as a loss for Cat's character by forfeit. If the fight was run, the result was kept. Also, due to an odd number of pool entries, there was an odd credit that was kept by the house from the pool so as to evenly split the pool winnings. The credit results (including sidebets) from Round 1B are: McJarvis: -1 MindWandererB: -1 Rauul: -2 SauroGrenom: +2 Tellis_of_Ket: +2 Vathelokai: 0 Zevox: -1 I won't post them here, but for those interested in how they did (if you don't already know), you can PM me and I will send you your results. I am currently keeping track of Round 2, and will continue to do so going forward. |
| MindWandererB04-14-07, 12:49 AM | And speaking of round 2 (there is no 2A/2B; we're not splitting them anymore), the ticket window is closed, since the first fight is up. Individual bets can still be made, of course. |
| Zevox04-14-07, 01:15 AM | @ NiQil - You missed the bets I made with the house in round 1A. All were winners, so I'm assuming I get 3 credits off of that (unless Ix's retroactive pull out counts as a losing bet). Zevox |

All were winners, so I'm assuming I get 3 credits off of that (unless Ix's retroactive pull out counts as a losing bet). Zevox I didn't really look at the bets made with the house as there was never an odds system put into place, and I believe yours were the only ones (though I may have missed them). I'm not sure if the house bets will be honored or not, since the odds system for them was never put into place, and as far as I saw there wasn't anything that said they were being bet on a 1:1 ratio. And no, Ix's pull was after the match was complete, so the result counts. @ MWB: Let me know whether you are wanting to honor the bets made vs the house, since it was not fully fledged out as it was supposed to be. If so, let me know at what odds you want them paid (1:1, 2:1, etc), and I'll get you the info. |

I'll honor that for past bets. Not for future ones, though. |
| hogarth04-14-07, 07:46 AM | @ NiQil - You missed the bets I made with the house in round 1A. All were winners, so I'm assuming I get 3 credits off of that (unless Ix's retroactive pull out counts as a losing bet). It was my understanding that house bets could only be officially made after Mitza posted odds for the fights (which she never did). Note for instance that if one of the fights had had 1:10 odds, then you only would have won 0.1 credits with a bet of 1 credits. |
| NiQil04-26-07, 10:47 PM | With round 2 in the books.....the pool winner is.... Vathelokai! Vath picked 7 out of 8 fights correctly, only whiffing on that slug Eraca Moralta....run by some guy named Zevox..... Vath will be winning the total pool of 5 credits. Now....to round 3 (the quarterfinals)! As an added incentive this round, I have decided that the house is going to match 50% of the winnings in the pool. So if 4 of you play, and one person wins, that person would receive the 4 credits bet as well as 2 more credits from the house. In the event of an odd number of credits won (either due to an odd number of tickets or a split pool), all house credit awards will be rounded down. So get your bets in while you still can! |

Here's my ticket: Monsieur Hood (TheMagister) vs. Besthirah Lafali (MindWandererB): TelinArtho [Forest] Va'ria Theladrais (Sindorin) vs. The Arcane Hand (Team) : Macbrea [City] Loddick Saffrion (Erithmu) vs. Raskos, the Jade Father (SauroGrenom) : Abyssal Stalker [Cavern] Vandelar the Red (SoulLord) vs. Aerryl Nalladar (MindWandererB) : Erithmu [City] - Hood/Besthirah: I'm actually a lot less confident about this one; Deep Impact is a pain for any AC build. Bt Hood's AC is a tad low, so I think I can average more output than he can, despite his Vigor. - Va'ria/Arcane Hand: 3 on 1 gives us an edge, but Va'ria has a ton of useful spells, scrolls, and wands. I don't have a lot of confidence. - Loddick/Raskos: Ooh, tough. This could easily go either way, but I think Raskos has a tactical advantage. - Vandelar/Aerryl: Barring something very unexpected from Vandelar, or some extremely bad luck for Aerryl, I think Aerryl has this one. |

| hogarth04-27-07, 08:58 AM | Va'ria Theladrais (Sindorin) vs. The Arcane Hand (Team) : Macbrea [City] Again I'll say that I think it's in poor taste to bet against your own team. I don't think you'll "throw the match" of course, but still... |
| Zevox04-27-07, 10:52 AM | Monsieur Hood vs. Besthirah Lafali [Forest] Va'ria Theladrais vs. The Arcane Hand (Team) [City] Loddick Saffrion vs. Raskos, the Jade Father [Cavern] Vandelar the Red vs. Aerryl Nalladar [City] Hood vs Besthira: Hood could hardly pull a worse opponent. Deflect arrows, big touch AC, DR 10/silver with him with only 20 silver arrows, and super-hiding skills in the forest. I hope Hood wins, but I just can't see it happening barring a miracle. Va'ria vs The Arcane Hand: Va'ria has a ton of spells left, including everything she needs to beat these two. A way to beat Blacklight? Check. Two castings of super-DC Feeblemind vs two wizards with low will saves? Check. Super-speed mount to evade them and their pet once they've been given the brains of a lizard? Check. Ring of Counterspells vs Dispel Magic? Check. As long as Sindorin knows what hes doing, he has this in the bag. Loddick vs Raskos: Much tougher call, but I think Raskos has the edge. Either his ally (scent vs invis, big hp, attack, speed, and damage, and big DR - not a good combination for Loddick), or his Ego Whips (6 charisma? Yeah, even with his big will save, Loddick is very vulnerable to those) will probably win the day for him. Vandelar vs Aerryl: I think this is the closest one. Could go either way, but I suspect Vandelar's spells will prove too much for Aerryl. Tactical use of Magic Jar and Cloudkill alone could have this over very fast, and he has a lot of other options to boot. I suspect Greater Invisibility will come into play too, given Aerryl's only means of beating that is her Bat's blindsense. |

And as for your other calls against my characters... we'll see, but even if I lose, I think I'll put in a much better showing than you're giving me credit for. |

Its just the Arcane Hand I think is basically doomed unless Sin gets sloppy (and based on your ticket, it seems we agree on that to a certain degree at least). Zevox |

| NiQil05-14-07, 11:06 PM | Alright, with the results finally in, we have a 3-way tie for the winner. Erithmu, MWB and Rauul all got 3 of 4 correct. The total entry was 5 credits, with an additional 50% added by the house (rounded down) for a total of 7 credits in the pool. So each person is awarded 2 credits, with the house using the last one to get the losers nice and drunk on Borgo's. Now, with the semi's and the final's coming up, I'm gonna do something a little different. I want everyone that wants to make a pool bet to pick both the semifinal winners when pairings are rolled....but then also pick the winner of the final based on who they are picking for the semis. In other words, you are picking your IMT champion blind. Since there are only 4 fights total, this was the best way I could come up with to try to guarantee we don't have a whole bunch of ties. Basically, as Erithmu pointed out below, I want you to rank the final 4 gladiators 1-4, with 1 being your champion, 2 being the silver, 3 the bronze, and 4 the guy that they tossed out on the manure pile. Also, for this final round of betting, the house will match 100% of all credits in the pool. So, as an example, if there are 5 entrants, then there would be 10 credits in the pool to win. Betting will open when pairings are posted. Good luck! |

So there is a possibility that you botch both semi's and default on the final as a result here. Or pick a final's winner who gets bounced in the semi's. I think we are going to have the 3rd place match (since there is the bronze title up for grabs) |
| NiQil05-14-07, 11:11 PM | That's a good idea...I forgot about the consolation match. I'll edit my previous post. |
| Erithmu05-14-07, 11:17 PM | Tiebreaker suggestion: 1st place = 4 points, 2nd = 3 points, etc ... highest points wins ... |
| NiQil05-14-07, 11:21 PM | Tiebreaker suggestion: 1st place = 4 points, 2nd = 3 points, etc ... highest points wins ... If I had used that from the start, I would use it, but since every other round has dealt with ties and has not been weighted in that manner, I'll keep it as it has been done throughout..it's only fair. But a good idea, nonetheless. |
| MindWandererB05-15-07, 01:43 AM | You might want to come up with a plan for how you'll deal with it if Aerryl and Besthirah end up paired off. On a purely random basis, there's a 50% chance of that happening (if either both win their semifinal fight or both lose). I'd love to bet, but under the circumstances it might be a wee bit inappropriate. |

Oh you mean if your 2 charaters go into the finals... thats acually easy.. the pitlord desided the tactics based off your your charater sheet and has fun pitting both charaters against each other.. A Fair Pitlord would devise tactics based off your former tactics in prevous fights and run it.. Or You asks 2 other members to write the tactics and submit them.. Basicly this stops rigging a fight.. so that you forfiet one match to get an easier match in finals.. face it.. if your charaters are good enough to make it to finals.. You can see who is the best by trusting in their sheets and the fellow players to make sure they are really that good.. Its a win win either way.. |
| Erithmu05-15-07, 09:54 AM | Or MWB just opens up a thread and runs a fight by himself against himself. |
| Rauul05-15-07, 10:00 AM | Or MWB just opens up a thread and runs a fight by himself against himself. Do you honestly think MWB has split personalites? |
| MindWandererB05-15-07, 02:06 PM | Do you honestly think MWB has split personalites? There are many who think so... but don't tell my wife (psychiatrist). I could easily write tactics for both characters. The issue would be that running this fight (between a multi-ally druid and a sniping grappler) would be a pain for a pitlord and not terribly entertaining for anyone but me. I suppose I could run my own fight... that would be better than arbitrarily deciding which one gets which tag. |
