Background
Virgo never quite understood the philosophy of the monastary. Peaceful inner strength achieved through meditation. He felt that was to quaint. He enjoyed rending his elderly master into a crumpled mass. His bones crushed well. Having completed his training, he no longer needed this place. A fiery fate awaited those sleeping monks. Now the arena awaits, beckoning Virgo closer. Death is waking...

All seemed quiet in the village of Sothlarch. Gammon LeBronia sat at his round table in his private cottage in the woods just north of the town. The other nobles would be arriving very soon...

Virgo Arkazzan lay in wait in the forest for the conference participants to arrive. He had planned everything out perfectly, and now was the time to strike. Everything is going according to plan, he thought to himself.

He then heard a noise and voices up the trail...

Ready when you are.
King Uther

(Pre-buff: Already focused)
Virgo listens to see if he can get a better idea of what is going on, all the while using his powerstone of Expansion ML 3 to grow in size.

Unless combatants approach me and get close, buff self with:

-Tattoo of force screen
-Powerstone of Vigor ML3
-Potion of Protection From Good
-Powerstone of Bite of the Wolf
-Powerstone of Animal Affinity (Str)

Ready with Glaive if foes approach, but otherwise I'll approach and begin the slaughter, with much delight to mysef.
Sindorin

Expanding to twice his original size, Virgo stands with his glaive, blocking the trail, as three figures in white robes with black trim come walking down the trail. Virgo stands resolute as they walk slowly, unsure of exactly what it is that they see. Virgo taps his tattoo of Force Screen and uses his power stone of Vigor ML3 (Manifester Level Check (1d20+2=19) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=95688), easy, gains 15 temporary hp)

Initiative:

Enemy 3 (1d20+1=11) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=95705)
Enemy 2 (1d20+1=10) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=95704)
Enemy 1 (1d20+1=8) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=95703)
Virgo (1d20+1=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=95695)

Sorry about that natural one, this time it was the die roller.

They stop in front of Virgo's towering form in the trail.
"Please stand aside, traveller. We are neutrals," the one to the rear says. The other two say nothing, but instead bow to you.
King Uther

05-27-05, 01:26 PM
Normally I might use some reason to deduce whether or not these are friends or foes. Well....let's see what happens.

If they do nothing, use powerstone of Bite of the Wolf and move closer. If they attack, move up so I threaten at least two of them. If one has a bow out, sunder it, but otherwise attack the strongest looking one.

"Neutrality is an excuse for those not strong enough to affect the world around them. State your true business or perish, fools."
Sindorin

05-27-05, 01:54 PM
The cloaked figure closest to you speaks, "Our business is not your concern, Virgo Arkazzan. Leave us, and go about your treacherous ways."

The one who spoke gestures a bit and then speaks words unknown to Virgo Virgo Will Save (1d20+5=20) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=95742), but Virgo senses that the spell did not affect him. The man now curses in a tongue unfamiliar to Virgo but one that he has heard from the coastal regions.

The other two cloaked figures both make gestures and speak similar incantations, performing some spell on themselves...

Knowledge (Religion) (1d20+2=16) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=95744)

Virgo ascertains that these men are clerics, but the deities that they each prayed to for their spells were all different...
King Uther

05-27-05, 05:46 PM
I move up to attack the one who cast a spell I saved against, making sure that if I can't I at least threaten him with my glaive. I will focus my efforts on one of them, hoping to kill him quickly.

"Weaklings, all of you. Your blood will bless the soil you stand on. Prayer will only serve to end your life quicker."

After Virgo's Move:http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/VirgoShortQuest8.jpg

Virgo moves up towards them, brandishing the glaive menacingly. He finds to his dismay that Expansion does not allow him to move faster, so he does not get a chance to attack. He does, however, threaten the enemies.

"Please, sir! You don't want to do this! We are important people that can help you!" One of them standing next to Virgo says as he backs away from Virgo (5' step) and casts a spell, praying and gesturing. Virgo gets an attack of Opportunity on him (Attack (1d20+7=22) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96109) hits, Damage (2d8+7=12) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96110)), nearly killing the man.

The other enemy that Virgo saved against steps over and touches his comrade, praying Cure Light Wounds (1d8+??=8) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96111), healing him substantially. "Thanks..."

The third one steps away from the group and drinks a potion, then disappears. "Hehehe, you'll never find me!" he sings.

After their moves:

Time for some killing.

"If you could help me, you would have said so sooner. I'd try harder to find out, but I am neutral."

Attack the man who healed the man I attacked.
Sindorin

Virgo swings his glaive at the defiant cleric who had just healed his friend.(Attack (1d20+7=11) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96530), misses), but cleaves through open air. The two remaining robed figures look at each other, and nod. The first one casts a spell (Virgo Will Save (1d20+5=20) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96531), passes) against Virgo but it has no effect, though Virgo felt threatened for a moment. The other cleric grimaces, and draws a crossbow, forgetting that Virgo's reach extends farther than it may seem (AoO: Attack (1d20+7=13) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96532), misses, This is why I hate online rollers...) but Virgo's attempt at catching the cleric off guard again cleaves through open air. The cleric fires a bolt at Virgo (Enemy Attack (1d20+??=9) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96533), misses) but the cleric's robes interfere with potential accuracy.
Nothing is heard of the third cleric who disappeared...
King Uther

I am in the thick of melee, thus feel free to run a few rounds of me attacking unless something important happens. I will focus on the one targeting me with spells.

"Luck can only follow a man for a time. It looks like yours has run out."
Sindorin

Sounds good, I didn't do this for the sake of possible roleplay opportunity.

Round 1:
Virgo swings his glaive in a vicious arc against the cleric who is using his spells (Attack (1d20+7=13) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96578), misses...

The cleric who had disappeared can now be heard from the trees, "Silly Virgo should learn to use his weapon better! Or perhaps he should go to services when he should!"

The cleric holding the crossbow reloads it, giving Virgo a chance to strike at him (Attack of Opportunity (1d20+7=20) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96579), hits, Damage (2d8+7=16) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96581)) and the glaive slashes the man, spraying crimson blood into the moonlit sky and all over the bushes, leaves, and the trail through the forest. The other cleric's expression becomes one of sorrow. He casts one final spell on himself.

Round 2:

Virgo brings his glaive to bear on the cleric he was originally wanting to kill
(Attack (1d20+7=15) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96585), hits), and just as it appears that the cleric's armor will save him as he fails to dodge Virgo's attack, blood begins oozing as the glaive parts the air,
(Damage (2d8+7=17) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96586)), folding the poor fellow's body, and Virgo reverse-swings the other way with his glaive, sending the unconscious bleeding body flying through the air until it smacks into a tree and slides down comically to the ground, where it lies motionless.

Stunned gasps can be heard from nearby behind one of the trees...

I figured I would moderate until the two you were in melee with were dispatched, and then let you decide what to do against this fellow...
King Uther

05-29-05, 04:20 AM
"Fear is not something to be respected in a man of the cloth. Show yourself, or be pitied by the gods you revere."

Switch to my bow, readying an action to shoot at anything I deem unordinary, hopefully being able to spot him via listen.
Sindorin

05-29-05, 04:35 AM
"What makes you think that it is a deity which I revere? Perhaps I am just like you... perhaps not. I come and go as I will, and those I represent wish me to discuss policies regarding you and your affairs, Mr. Arkazzan. You would do well to cease their atrocious nature, lest you be overcome by the forces of right, justice, and law. They are out there, yes, watching us all."
Listen Check (1d20+5=16) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96595)

Virgo shoots at what he thinks may be a rustle in the fallen leaves near a tree (
Attack (1d20+2=16) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96597), hits, Miss Chance (1d100=91) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96599) vs. DC 50, passes, Damage (1d8+5=12) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=96600)) "Ugh..."...*thud*

His arrow evidently finding home, a splotch of blood appears as if it is soaking some sort of garment. A couple spell ingredients fly out of the mage's hand, as Virgo realizes that he just disrupted a spell that was being cast... The figure crumples to the ground, unconscious...

Nice rolls...
King Uther

05-29-05, 04:45 AM
"I truly hope your faith is strong, for shortly it shall be tested. Make it quick, though. For soon their existence will be futile..."

Walk over to the invisible crumpled body, and CDG. CDG all other bodies. Loot any money and potions, hide the bodies out of the way, carving Jindl's symbol onto all of their faces.
Sindorin

05-29-05, 04:51 AM
After Virgo brutally finishes the moaning dying clerics and mutilating their already twisted bodies, he walks over to the wizard, who is still barely conscious. "The Brotherhood will avenge me... they know even now what you do," he says as he points to a scroll that has been slightly soaked in his own blood that has a grotesque eye that is blinking slowly every eight seconds. With this final gesture to indicate the scroll, his heart stops and he dies.
King Uther

05-29-05, 04:54 AM
"Of course they know, my dear wizard. I feed them information daily. In the end the Brotherhood's pride will be their fall. A mighty fall indeed."

As he crushes the larynx of the mage, he ponders to himself. "Perhaps they do know more than they should. Perhaps we will have to take the fight to them."

Virgo picks up the scroll, doesn't read it, and takes it back with him for someone to study.
Sindorin

05-29-05, 05:10 AM
As Virgo crushes the neck of the fallen wizard, his death rattle is heard, and with it the duration of the scroll ends and it becomes an ordinary piece of parchment.
Sindorin

05-29-05, 07:22 PM
All whilst this occurred, Gammon LeBronia, the hero of the Giro Peace Talks, was pacing impatiently, worried that something was indeed amiss. What is taking them so long? he wondered as silent as his pacing was, his stride quick and careful as he walked back and forth in the cabin.
King Uther

05-31-05, 02:24 PM
Standing outside the Peace COnference, Virgo began his grand entrance into the building. Gammon was the speaker, a fool worthy of death.

In the middle of the conference, a fire began to blaze. Quickly the delegates left their seats, trying desperately to flee death. But try as they might, there was no escape as a blade caught them in the back.

It would later be known as the "Burning of Peace." The only survivor to tell the tale, a great man of peace and protector of trade himself, Virgo Arkazzan.
Sindorin

05-31-05, 02:33 PM
Gammon LeBronia was a famed negotiator and politician from Giro. Having the brilliant idea to host a summit between nobles and trade representatives at his cabin in the woods proved to be his demise, as the entire effort was compromised by the deeds of Virgo Arkazzan...

All perished in the fire...

Virgo returned to Gladius very much empty-handed. He was also supposed to participate in the meeting, but he had other ideas in mind. When the Assembly convened, they awarded Virgo 1,600 gp for use in protecting the roads. He was easily able to do this without expenditure through his wide range of contacts. Thus, he was able to keep the money for himself.

Rewards:

1,600 gp, 1,600 exp
King Uther

05-31-05, 02:40 PM
Not that it's a big change, but since I am level 4 I should get 1600xp. That was a fun fight, by the way. And good job with Sokai. The next fight will be....great.
Sindorin

05-31-05, 02:40 PM
oops, fixed it!
Sindorin

05-31-05, 02:45 PM
I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to have Virgo fight against if the intent was to massacre a group of nobles meeting to discuss procedure... I decided to have Virgo go up against three enemies - two clerics and a wizard 1/cleric 1. They had various kinds of deities, and the wizard cleric was definitely Olidammara. I'm not sure I remember what the other ones were, I think I remember putting Boccob as one of them... They all were level 2. The first spell that Virgo saved against was a Cause Fear spell, which, had he failed, would have made the fight very interesting.
