TelinArtho 04-18-07, 03:18 PM	A pair of birds burst from Rhengarvin's personal chambers as he opens the door after talking with Erithmu. He tries futily to contain them before they are out a nearby window - his cries of frustration are plain to here throughout the compound. I swear - those two will never be up to any good if I leave them be for just one minute! Looking briefly about his chamber, he finds the birds have torn apart several cushions and strewn papers and books into piles of disorganized mess. Slamming the door, he storms towards the main gates and looks outside just as a figure comes into view. The birds momentarily forgotten, he spies on the figure until he figures out who he is. The figure slowly moves towards the main gate of the Marble Castle. Just as he aproaches the gate he stops and waves Rhengarvin. Hello there, I'm looking for the leader of the CEF I've come to aid the celestial armies here in Gladius. Rumors have reached me that the celestial are in need of new recruits. Can you tell me where I must go? Welcome to the Celestial Expeditionary Forces Valanthe - your name and reputation precedes you. Thank you for accepting our offer of hospitality and I am one of the many who can receive you. Hopefully you will prove to be as great an asset as Captain Mellios feels you will be. Before we get too involved though, I was wondering if you could do me a favor. A pair of celestial doves have escaped from my personal aviary. I would greatly appreciate it if you were able to bring them back to me. They seem to have flown out towards Luna Marsh, hopefully they won't be too difficult to find and recapture. Perform this task for me, and any question of your ability would be thrown asunder. Your task is to capture the "celestial doves." I present you two options - capture them or take them down in normal combat. For the purposes of the miniquest, you will be in the forest map and starting from area 1. Also - let me know now whether you want this in cycle or out of cycle. Good luck - this is going to be a tough encounter for you.
Sjiggie 04-18-07, 06:04 PM	I shall not let you down. I will retrieve the celestial doves. By the end of the day I shall return to the Marble Castle with the doves in my possesion so that you can take care of them once again. May the celestials be with me! Valanthe greets Rhengarvin and goes to the Luna Marshes. Once he arrives there he takes out his powerstone of skate and manifest it from the stone and moves out. This will be an out of cycle miniquest. My plan is to buff with skate and move along the path towards the center of the map. Along the way draw a stone of enlarged entangling ectoplasm and greatsword.
TelinArtho 04-19-07, 10:01 AM	The marshes are thick and heavy, but thankfully Valanthe is able to pick his away along one of the many paths on the outskirts. Soon however, he finds the way muddy and particularly difficult, despite his psionically improved speed. Drawing his sword and another powerstone, he gains sight of the pair of doves about 10ft above the marshy waters. The birds close quickly with him and to his disturbed surprise, they unleash bolts of electricity at him! Both strike him hard in the torso, charging him with pain. Both rays hit. One for 8 damage, the other for 5. Sjiggie 04-19-07, 05:25 PM	Valanthe moves closer to the birds and unleashes a hail of crystals at the closest dove hoping tho finish it off in 1 shot. Moves to the south to the edge of the marsh and send an 3pp +2 wild surged crystal shard at the green dove. Try to shoot the dove so that is doesn't have cover from me.

The crystals that shoot forth strike the bird solidly and it collapses to the ground, stunned. 1 down - 1 to go. The other bird sends off another shocking ray before peeling away from him. 6 damage. Still in range to move and shoot at if you like. Got to go...
Sjiggie 04-19-07, 05:50 PM	Strike the other with the rest of my pp (2pp +2 surged crystal shard) if that doesn't kill it hit it with an entangling ectoplasm and close in for melee expending focus on the first swing for the extra damage
TelinArtho 04-20-07, 09:47 AM	Valanthe sends another series of crystal shards at the bird, but this one dodges out of the way nimbly - as if its wings controlled the air. Another shock tears through the air and strikes Valanthe in the chest. The hits start to really wear on him - bearing him down. Valanthe (red) 15/40, Skate (ends 11), Powerstone of Enlarged Entangling Ectoplasm, Greatsword in hands Still want to go with Entangling Ectoplasm? It is staying at about 50ft distance from you and no closer to the ground than 10ft (usually 15ft or so)
Sjiggie 04-20-07, 05:27 PM	Go away from the dove and sheet the greatsword as part of the move and use lay on hands to heal 6hp then hit it with the entangling ectoplasm and shoot it with my bow.
TelinArtho 04-23-07, 11:40 AM	Valanthe steps away from the whirling bird of light and touches his shoulder to take some of the edge off of the pain. His movement forces him to lose sight of the bird for a moment, but it is not long before sight to it is restored - it flying quickly near the canopy as fast as a hawk - and much more dangerous than any dove he had met... Getting a good beat on it - he tosses up a ball of entangling goo, and it contacts the bird firmly. The bird however is little deterred by the goo and fires off another ray of electricity at Valanthe. This shot penetrates Valanthe's soul and leaves him badly injured. To his pleasure, he sees the bird is at least slowed and a little more clumsy from the entangling goo. You hit with the entangling ectoplasm. Unfortuantely, it confirms a critical against you. TelinArtho 04-23-07, 05:13 PM	Valanthe fires an arrow at it, but the arrow flies wide of the mark. The dextrous bird has little problem positioning for another electric shock though - but it misses wide. The two exchange shots at each other for a moment, but Valanthe is soon struck hard by two consecutive rays - and he falls to the ground. Without healing to help you after the Lay on hands, you pretty much had to outgun it. Unfortunately, your touch AC was just too low, and its AC is just too high. You can check in the roller for how things went. Rough luck in a few places here. Sorry about that.
Sjiggie 04-23-07, 05:34 PM	Yeah I noticed that I didn't have any healing when I started the miniquest. I was so hoping that the second Crystal shard would hit. But unfortunatly it didn't. The entangling ectoplasm was to lower the AC of the bird a bit but it didn't helped. I knew Valanthe would lose after the crystal shard missed. Care for a rematch this pairings?
