| SauroGrenom04-13-06, 10:09 AM | In the late hours, Raskos comes to the chambers where Sećndithas is becomming comfortable in his new home. Moving with typical elven grace and silence, Raskos closes the door behind himslef as he enters. Speaking in low weary tones as he hands you a small glass bubble and a empty wide leather sack, "Sećndithas, tonight the guild needs a man of your skills. Pictured in that globe you will see the face of a man who must not see the dawn ever again. He is a priest who sits the midnight confessional at the "Cathedral of the Eastern Angels". Looking into the globe you see the face of a young assamar male in priestly garb. "We know this priest has failed to keep his vow of secrecy in the past. Also our guild sometimes uses the services of one of his parrishioners. This parrishioner is a young woman with unexpected scrying ability, who often has presient visions. We know she confides these unexplained visions to him, and he has passed this information to our rivals. The priest is the link between her and our rivals, and he must be removed. Do this in a way that does not reveal our participation in his dissapearance, and ensure that it is believed to have been a dissapearance not a killing. Leave nothing, not even a stray arrow or hair behind that can be linked to you. The sack is a bag of consumption. Anything placed inside will be drawn into the maw of an astral creature and destroyed. All remains should go into the bag. Good luck." With the parting words, Raskos takes his globe and leaves the room as silently as he came. |
| Sindorin04-13-06, 10:16 AM | Sećndithas sat for a moment on the floor of the room in a cross-legged position after listening to his assignment. "Very well, I shall return bearing nothing." He seemed to float to his feet and was just as quickly gone. He quickly left the building and set out to the place where this fellow would be found. Sećndithas took the time along the way to focus his thoughts. Once there, he would take up a position some distance away and observe the target, hoping to remain inconspicuous. Take ten on a concentration check to become focused before leaving, as I forgot to list it on my sheet. |
| SauroGrenom04-13-06, 12:30 PM | The Cathedral of Eastern Angels is easy to find. The small steepled structure is being a bit brazen to be called a Cathedral. Located not actually in but adjacent to the slums of Duken Marina, the little stone structure has a bell tower and door facing the street. The door is ornately carved with the scene of glorious sun like angels above the city of gladius shining rays of light over the city. The interior is indecernable because the glass of the windows is poor quality but the frosted surface glows with soft candlelight spilling from the windows. As you watch, an elderly halfling woman leaves the church. Dressed in raggs and helped by what must be a grandson (who is the sort that would make you grip your beltpouch if it weren't for the grandmother being so near) she turns and hobbles down the street into the slummy part of town. In the moment while the son holds the door for his grandmother, you have a clear view into the sanctuary. Rows of wooden benches, candelabras, and tall hanging drapes adorn the interior. From your vantage across the street you cannot see the entire sanctuary nor the young assamar cleric. You suppose that he would be seated inside the confessional box waiting for his next parrishioner seaking absolution. |
| Sindorin04-13-06, 03:25 PM | I suppose I should be cleansed of my sins, Sećndithas thought to himself as he walked towards the confessional. He went in, took a seat across from the priest who sat there waiting instead of the ambiguous option of kneeling behind a screen. Sećndithas preferred not to kneel before a mere priest even if there was a screen. "Forgive me, father, for I have sinned," Sećndithas said in a quiet reserved voice, hoping that he did not sound in any way mocking. |
| SauroGrenom04-14-06, 10:42 AM | A soft masculine voice replies, "Do you wish to confess your sinns and recieve the absolution of the angels?" |
| Sindorin04-14-06, 02:49 PM | "I do. I would not have come to you in this manner if I did not wish to be absolved," Sećndithas began, a bit more confidence apparent in the githzerai's voice. "I was once a priest, such as yourself. When those of the congregation came to confide in me their sins so that they could be forgiven, I could not help myself but to share them with others just to see if they reacted as I did, and because I was payed to do so. I stopped when I was smart enough to realize the error in my ways, that I was misusing the innocence of the people of my congregation by sharing their sins, or at least what they thought were sins when they were only worries and doubts of an oblivious people. It was because of my discovery of my own corruption that I left my duty to live a life of solitude, listening to no one's sins but my own. It was not until I forgave myself that I was able to return and speak my sins to a servant of the Lord more loyal and devoted than me." Sitting across from the priest, Sećndithas waited for some sign that this is perhaps the priest that he is supposed to take care of. He sat there with a blank stare, making eye contact with the priest. Sećndithas did not care that his story was obviously a lie, it was not meant as his own story. It was meant to be told as a story of the priest who sat in front of him. Sećndithas did not wish to kill a priest who, since he seemed young, was likely not beyond the redemption of his own conscience. |
| SauroGrenom04-15-06, 12:17 PM | Interesting approach. I'll give you a bluff vs sense motive check to see if he believes the lie. Either way you need to make sure that this priest leaves the area to complete quest. Raskos expects you to remove the link between the seer girl and this man. If you can accomplish this by means other than death, then excellent. A renewed vow of secrecy will not be sufficient. The priest has shown he will break vows and why not do it again? Your well trained sense hear the priest's breath catch in his lungs ans he listens to your story... A moment passes and he realizes (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=412305) your fabrication is ment as a warning to him. With a subtle waver in his voice he replies, I understand your sin now, and I believe there can be forgivness. If you had not traveled, would the corruption of your soul due to this sin have brought you low? (he means will you kill him if he doenst "travel") |
| Sindorin04-15-06, 04:08 PM | Sećndithas nodded quietly where he sat. "My journey helped me greatly to understand the true way of confidentiality. I found that I was able to save myself, for had I not left and went on my journey across the lands and planes, I fear that there were forces that would make me unable to hear the sins of my congregation and unable to pass them on. I have left the order for the good of all, and shall never return. What penance shall there be in turn for my sins being forgiven?" Sećndithas stood now, barring the exit of the confessional while he waited for the priest's reply. Yeah, I didn't want to play Sećndithas as a murderer. I want to try and see if I can convince the priest to seek another profession away from the congregation of secrets that he has passed on so as to eliminate his access to the source that is the vision lady... I also figure Sećndithas' nature could be an interesting asset to a guild that is founded on the basis of psionics yet works much like an evil guild. It should be a lot of fun, IMO. It is funny how I just rolled a bluff check that was meant to be sensed. |
| SauroGrenom04-17-06, 12:42 AM | Alright, you are being very persuasive, and you don't have to kill the priest. He'll leave the ministry and gladius. However unfortunately though I love the RP success of this challange, I'm not allowed by Pitlords to let you win the quest without any combat of any kind. Which is a kind of crappy rule that IMO discourages savy RP. But a rule is a rule (got this in a PM from pitlrods with regard to quest with one of my own characters a few weeks back). So you'll get out of here feeling triumphant, but you'll also face an unexpected challange on the way to realizing your plann. The young priest considers for a moment, "Your pentance shall be to this very hour take a man of wayward spirit and show him the path you have walked to redemption. Set his feet on the path, and you will have absolution. " |
| Sindorin04-17-06, 03:44 AM | So much for calling it a ROLE PLAYING GAME  Sećndithas assisted the priest in packing his things. Once this was done, he bade the priest farewell and set to heading back to report to Raskos. |
| SauroGrenom04-17-06, 11:27 AM | Internially contented by his vicroty, Sećndithas begins to walk to the guild with his mind full of his own thoughts. Late at night, the streets are empty in Duken Marena. As you pass a bakery shop, a smallish form of a halfling appears before you stepping out of an alley. You see a flash of steel in his hand as he speaks, "Drop your bow to the ground, else my friends and I cut you up. " You have about 10' distance to the little guy before you and 10' distance to the one behind you. Initiative. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=414379) You go second. Your senses tell you that another rogue stands behind you, having stepped from an alley on the other side of this shop. This halfling thug wastes no time talking and simply throws (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=414382) an unexpected knife into your back. Causing 9hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=414389) damage. I must confess I'm not sure about your flatfooted AC. You have it listed as 14, but I think it should be 18. It's my understanding that you get a +4 inertial armor bonus that is always active. If this is correct the knife blade was deflected by your inertial armor. |
| Sindorin04-17-06, 11:36 AM | The 14 is counting the inertial armor bonus. What else should add to it to make it 18? For now, I can just compare with how it started. Let me know if it should be higher, I thought I had it correct. On that note, I am mad that I got surprised hehe. Let me know if the attack turns out to miss. Sećndithas reeled forward from the blow, then tapped a tattoo causing an invisible shield to waver around him and then he seemed even more blurred than before. Looking at the one before him who had spoken, he said "So much for giving me a chance to surrender. Your friend has chosen your fate for you both." His cloudy gray eyes seemed to glow in the moonlight towards the thug. He then moved tactically out into the street so the halflings could not take him by both sides. I'm activating a tattoo of force screen, then moving to the left or right to position myself across the street per se from both of them so they cannot flank me. From there I'm wondering if the only thing that will hit me is a lucky crit which I hope you don't roll. Sećndithas will use psionic shot and deep crystal on the first shot against the one that hit me, and then Sećndithas will use regular arrows until they go down. |
| SauroGrenom04-17-06, 11:46 AM | You get to add in the monk AC bonus even if flatfooted, so the blow misses. We'll battle in a "hallway" that is 30' wide. You move 30' to the other side of the street and tap your tattoo. The first rogue charges you and slashes (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=414410). He gapes as his blade is turned by unseen forces. The second rogue moves into range and throws (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=414414) another dagger which flies off to the side. |
| Sindorin04-17-06, 11:53 AM | Ah, I learned something. I haven't played a monk before. Sećndithas stepped away from the halfling who wanted melee, knowing his hand-fighting skills needed some training before they should be tested against his own life. He let fly an arrow at the enemy, and it Struck (1d20+9=24) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=414430) the dagger-throwing halfling in the chest. The little one dropped the dagger that he intended to throw next, and clutched that the wound screaming, for energy crackled around the arrow as it exploded on impact. (1d8+4d6+4=19) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=414434) 5' step away from the melee guy, expend focus and 2pp for 4d6 extra damage to shoot the dagger guy. Point Blank Shot applied. My AC should be around 28. If the shot downs the halfling, Sećndithas will force a potion in his mouth to stabilize the halfling, for he does not wish to kill. Sećndithas will do this even if the other guy decides that attacking me is still a good idea. Sećndithas does not wish to kill anyone. |
| SauroGrenom04-17-06, 09:29 PM | Blasted litteraly out of his shoes by the arrow in his chest the more aggressive knife wielding halfling lies on the ground for a fraction of a second before you turn to his ally... The other would be thug gapes in awe at the power of your attack that felded his ally. In an instant, you see the soles of his shoes flashing in the lamplight as he races accross the street and dives headfirst into a sewer located there. He wriggles for a moment and in a second's time the leggs are gone. You stand alone in the street with a near dead halfling lying at your feet with a sucking chest wound and an expanding pool of his blood mixing with the muck in the street. You feed a potion to the little man, but he still lies unconcious at your feet. |
| Sindorin04-18-06, 01:29 AM | Sećndithas takes a moment to remove all of the halfling's possessions, leaving only his undergarments. Stowing them in a cloak, he takes all of the halfling's money and possessions back to the PSI Consortium's headquarter district, finds a homeless family for them, and gives them the halfling's possessions. When the halfling was found later, unconscious in the street, he was taken care of. They wondered who had mugged him in the night. |
