| SauroGrenom02-23-07, 03:24 PM | Featylec gathers his equipment and prepares to make contact with the elusive group in Kelartus known as the Open Handed Way. Few are thought to know of the location of the Open Handed Way's headquarters. But Featylec knows that the psion from Lower Merx known as Istima had once made contact with them. Perhaps Istima would know how to contact them. With the goal of gathering information from Istima, Featylec travels to lower Merx and finds the guildhall of the Consortium, where he hails for Istima. If you want we can do a bit of RP here where Istima can play an advisory roll. |
| Zevox02-23-07, 08:08 PM | Featylec, relieved to find he is perfectly welcome within the halls of the Psi Consortium, wastes no time in tracking down the little Goblin he had heard knew about these Monks. He sincerely hoped he would be of great help to him - both psionicists and monks were well beyond his experiences, which make him doubly unsure of how he'd fare amongst psionic monks, and he knew he had to make a good first impression to help establish peaceful relations between the group and the Warfare Alliance. He finally found Istima in what he surmised to be a training room. The Goblin seemed to be in deep concentration, and the Elf noticed after a moment that a number of small objects were floating around him, ranging from coins to a sizable crystal with strange tendrils sticking out from it. A moment later all of the objects were hurtled across the room, striking targets near the wall dead-center with varying levels of force. The crystal gave out a low hum that, for some reason Featylec couldn't quite understand, reminded him of Elven words he'd never repeat, and started to move back towards the Goblin on its greenish tendrils. Speaking up as the Goblin comes back to himself, he says, "Pardon? Are you Istima Telarc?" Istima turns about at his unexpected visitor, a smile on his face as he looks the Elf over. "I am he indeed," he replies in perfect Elvish. "Can I aid you?" Though slightly surprised by the Goblin's use of the Elven tongue, Featylec responds in kind, never missing a beat "I think so. I'm looking for a group of monks called the Order of the Open Handed Way - or I think that was they name; maybe it was "Open Palm" or something else similar. But anyway, I'm told you've met with them before and might be able to help." I think I'll let you take Istima here. Not much fun if I'm just crafting a dialog between two of my own characters, and you know the most about the group and how much Istima would know about them by now anyway. |
| SauroGrenom02-23-07, 08:48 PM | Istima smiles as he relates the story of meeting the Open Handed Way and their elusive leader Rebreg. Our spymaster Cyra sent me to Kelartus with a list of likely locations to find the headquarters of the Order of the Open Handed Way. I visited them all, and all were interesting in their own right. However none were the headquarters of the Order. As it turns out the Order of the Way does not have a headquarters. The vigilante monks each live by their own means in various places of their own choosing, and they use secret signals to communicate with each other and meet occasionally. I attracted the interest of the Monks by being involved in a few acts of my own vigilante justice, and they approached me as being of like mind. If you wish to contact the Order, I suggest you go to Kelartus and do something similar. They may reveal themselves to you. |
| Zevox02-24-07, 06:50 PM | Featylec clicks his tongue. "Well, thats certainly... different. Not normally my style. Still, you gotta do what you gotta do, eh? Thanks - you've been a great help." He says giving a nod as he turns to leave. He suppresses his affinity with the shadows as he travels through the Guild's halls, but upon exiting he lets them engulf him as he starts to make his way towards Kelartus. |
| SauroGrenom02-25-07, 10:55 PM | Featylac enters Kelartus by the ways he knows best... The darkened passages and back alleys where he feels most at home. The evening is growing late, and the shadows lengthen. The good citizens of Kelartus empty the streets, and a different type of person comes out. Pickpockets, ladies of the night and thugs take up their various less reputable trades. At night the district is a foggy place where sounds of the nearby river produce a disorienting effect and appear to come from all directions. Taking the words of the goblin to heart, Featylac wanders these dark streets remaining alert to anything that may be an opportunity to deliver some vigilante justice. It does not take long... About an hour after nightfall, Featylac comes across the scene he is looking for. In a dark alley ahead, two thugs are beating a halfling. The poor victim is being help up while the other beats him with a club and repeatedly asks for money. They are unaware of you, and you'll get a surprise round. They are two roguish humans, and about 30' down the alley. |
| Zevox02-26-07, 01:35 AM | Featylec looks on the scene, wondering if this was typical of this district or if irony was just on his side as usual. As good a place as any to start, he thinks. He quickly uses one of the tattoos that makes it easier for him to hide and grasps his bow, all the while letting the shadows crawl across his skin and obscure him from sight. Well then this should be straightforward. Start by tapping tattoo of chameleon and drawing bow (and declaring the nearer one my dodge body), then start sniping (remember my PBS feat too). With luck I won't be spotted. If I am, I'll adapt then, but staying hidden is the #1 priority. |
| SauroGrenom02-26-07, 10:51 PM | Featylec prepares himself by activating his magical tattoo and hiding with his bow in the shadows. He sets an arrow to the string and fires his first shot. The thug with the club is hit (14hp damage). The two thugs drop the halfling immediately and talk to eachother. Did it come from that way? No it came from that way? You go that way. I'll go this way... The two split up and move in opposite directions down the alley. I just got started on this, but I'm already feeling realy tired. I'll try and finish it up tomorrow. |
| SauroGrenom02-27-07, 10:32 PM | The wounded thug moves right past Featylec w/o seeing the elf hidden beside him. The other thug moves down the alley in the opposite direction and ends where the alley opens onto the street (about 80' distant). Featylec snipes the wounded thug again (17hp). Neither of the thugs spot him, but they both hear the bow string. The near thug (wounded guy) draws a scroll from his belt and tries to use it, but he fails. The second thug down the alley has the same luck with the scroll he attempts to cast. Featylec puts an third arrow in the wounded thug and he falls dead. The other thug down the alley get's freaked out and tries to cast from his scroll again but fails. Featylec puts an arrow into the more distant thug (10hp). That guy finally spots Featylec, so he pulls out a different scroll and casts it but fails. Featylec hits him with another arrow(6hp). He franticially tries to cast from the scrolls that are his only hope. He fails again. Featylet fires another arrow (6hp). The thug is feeling badly wounded, and he hasn't been able to hurt his opponent or activate these damn scrolls. So he just looses his nerve and gets out of the area. |
| SauroGrenom02-28-07, 12:31 PM | That was me trying to get UMB to work on a rogue with NPC equipment and 12 Cha. It obviously didn't work at all. The DC's on UMD are rather high. I didn't realy search for synergies, but I learned a thing or two. I think we can move on if you like. Here's a bit of story to setup the next encounter. Featylec examines the fallen halfling. He's still alive, but obviously hurt bad. It looks like they've been beating him with a sap for a while. He cannot stand, but sits up and groans his thanks and mixed thoughts. Uggh... Urmmmn... Thanks for helping... Is that guy dead? He points to the fallen thug, and Featylec nods. That's bad, real bad... The other one got away? Featylec nods again, and the Halfling reples, That's worse. Somebody will be at the shop in no time. I bet he'll burn it to the ground. You gotta make sure Laura gets out with the baby. Please mister, you've gotta help me. They'll be real mad that one of their own's been killed. |
| Zevox02-28-07, 05:03 PM | Feartylec inwardly sighed. He knew the moment it'd happened that he should have put another arrow into that fleeing nuisance when he had the chance. "All right, all right," he says, trying to calm the Halfling. "Just tell me where this shop is and see if I can't arrange some unpleasant surprises for whoever these folks are. Speaking of which, that'd be nice information to have too, if time isn't split-second urgent." |
| SauroGrenom03-02-07, 05:57 PM | I'm a cobbler and my shop is on Kings Way a few blocks from the corner with Old Chauteau. You'll see it. It's got a red and blue sign with a shoe painted on it. He coughs and begins to describe the situation and who the goons are. These guys work for Tommy Two Fingers. Tommy runs the neighborhood and and charges me "protection money". But he keeps asking for more, and with the new baby I can't pay. You better watch out... There's this crazy witch that works for Tommy. She's got claws and smells real bad. Whenever Tommy wants to make an example of someone he sends her to take care of it. You better go before the witch shows up at the shop. Please Hurry! |
| Zevox03-02-07, 06:41 PM | Featylec nodded. Typical. Minor gang boss extorting honest people, with muscle on his side to keep them scared enough to comply. Happened all the time. Well, if these Monks were the sort the Goblin Psion had indicated, helping put them in their place would be a good way to get their attention, so he may as well get going. Besides, he was partially responsible for this mess now anyway. "Alright. I'll get there fast and prepare some surprises for this witch." He assures the Halfling before the turns about and heads in the direction of King's Way, letting the shadows draw comfortingly about him once he was out of the Halfling's sight. Along the way he scales one of the buildings to get a better view of the area, and safely hidden from view by the shadows surrounding him, begins to take the shortcut to his goal of leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Considering Featylec's Balance, Climb, and Jump mods, I'm presuming the above won't raise any issues ;) . |
| SauroGrenom03-02-07, 07:19 PM | I thought you might get a kick out of the idea of a Halfling cobbler. Halfling's don't wear shoes. No wonder he cannot pay the extortion fee's... Featylec is a shadow in the night as he flits from roof to roof. Moving as quickly and quietly as he can he makes his way from shadow to shadow, down alleys and along roof tops till he makes his way to the roof across the street from the cobbler's shop. There is a light burning in the upstairs window... and so far the street looks quiet. It seams Featlyec has managed to arrive in time. Let me know what you want to do to prep. I'll run this on the city map when you're ready I'll get it started. Probably Saturday day or evening is when I'll have the time to sit down with the roller and run the combat. You don't have the necessary knowledge skills to identify the foe, so all you get is medium humanoid creature on foot. |
| Zevox03-03-07, 11:13 AM | Drinking a long-term potion to make himself harder to spot, Featylec rummages through his things and, remembering he had left many of his favorite tricky items at the Guildhall to lighten his traveling load this night, settles in to wait for the predicted trouble along the edge of a rooftop near the shop. Well, to tell the truth, I wasn't sure what a Cobbler was other than that it was a craftsman of some kind. Though even if I had been I'd probably have missed it, since I've never been able to keep track of what Tolkien things D&D has kept and what its gotten rid of (beards on female Dwarves, for instance). Anyway, I think I know what I'm looking at here, but Featylec obviously doesn't, which is annoying if I'm right since then this thing has DR. Preparation: Drink an elixir of hiding (I'm hoping 1 hour duration is good). Stand up on a rooftop near the shop, bow in hand, waiting. Plan: When she comes into sight, tap tattoo of chameleon, make her my dodge buddy. Then start sniping. If I'm right and its obvious she is resisting some of the damage, switch to cold iron and silver arrows in that order to try and bypass it. If shes close enough, remember PBS and sneak attacks. If she starts concentrating and doing nothing else for a round or two, drink a potion of misdirection. If she starts lobbing MMs, switch out my Amulet of Health for my Brooch of Shielding. (Yeah, I know Featylec can't ID spells, but thats a common one, and the brooch is useless if he doesn't do switching like this since I want him to have that amulet.) If I'm spotted, simply rehide next round and change positions. If something odd comes up, hopefully I'll be able to make a new plan for it. Just a forewarning, I have work most of today, so I won't be on to do any changing of plans until late tonight. |
| SauroGrenom03-04-07, 06:00 PM | Featylec drinks his potion and hides on the room across from the entrance to the halfling's shop. He waits patiently and watches the sparse street traffic below. In about 20 minutes an apparently elven woman stands at the door and tries to open it. Featlyec acts quickly and taps his tattoo. (10)Then he fires his an arrow at her back. The arrow strikes her with a blow that would have easily slain many. But she only yelps in pain and pulls the arrow protruding from her chest out the other side (7hp). Featylec attempts to hide but her sharp eyes spot him even in the dark. She extends her hand and a crackling black ray issues forth toward Featlyec. Featylec barely dodges the ray and it strikes a chimney behind him. (11)Featylec's next arrow (Cold Iron this time) meets her shoulder (17hp) and he hides. The hag reaches to a necklace around her neck and pulls an orb from it then tosses the ball in the general direction of Featlyec. It sails high into the air and explodes into a conflaguration of flames! Featylec turns to shield his bow string from the fire and completely evades the flames. (12)Featlyec uses the chance to put another arrow into the hag but misses this time but hides very well. She attempts an active spot check and fails, instead she readies to fire if she spots Featylec. (13)Featylec snipes the hag again and hits (13hp). He isn't spotted. The Hag actively searches, but cannot see the shadowy elf. She readies again. (14)Featylec tries to press his advantage and continues his sniping strategy (7hp). His arrow hits and the hag is clueless. She continues to search and casts Detect Good. (15)Featylec snipes again and misses. She detects no good and casts Detect Evil. (16) Featylec continues to snipe and miss. She detects no Evil and Casts Detect Law. (17)Featylec continues to snipe and hits (10hp). The hag's concentration is continues and she discerns there is only one foe. (18)Featylec hits with a last arrow (16hp). Then the Hag fades from view and is gone... You've won. She went ethereal and is badly wounded. You cannot follow her, and she's out of the game at this point. |
| Zevox03-05-07, 02:42 PM | Actually, I think you have a little problem here. Looking at your summary and the rolls, I think you skipped over using my Tattoo of Chameleon (should've been done as soon as she came into view, if you'll note in my tactics there), which would cause all but one of those hide checks the Hag beat currently to fail, including the one that got that Ray of Enfeeblement off. That could eliminate the problem and let this finish up more easily. |
| Zevox03-08-07, 01:27 PM | :bump: Didn't forget about there, did ya Suaro? Woops, didn't notice you'd updated that fight post :embarrass . My bad then. Anyway, that was Featylec's week 3. I assume I level him up and make some purchases? Very annoyed by the scape of another foe, Featylec nonetheless climbs down off the building and picks up what arrows he could before letting the shadows fall from him and proceeding to knock on the shop's door. "Hello? Is anyone in there?" |
| SauroGrenom03-08-07, 05:38 PM | There is a frightened and muffled yelp from inside. Apparently the wife was awoken by the fireball. With some coaxing, Featlyec is able to get her talking. He explains the situation with respect to her husband and Tommy Twofinger's gang. She gathers a few things and the baby and leaves immediately saying, I'm sure that you've made Tommy real mad. I'd watch out, he'll want to make an example out of you. Before she can get out the door, the wounded halfling comes jogging up. He is elated that everyone's still alive, Yea!! Laura! You're OK! Oh, mister, I thank you so much. After you left some huge guy with grey skin and silver wrapped around his hands came to me. I figured he was there to finish me off, but he healed me a bit and told me to hurry home. We've got to go now, before Tommy shows up. And mister, I hope you come out of this OK. Be careful Tommy's going to be looking for you. |
| Zevox03-09-07, 12:34 AM | Okay, Featylec is updated for ECL 10 (which makes this last fight frozen). Major purchases are making his shield animated and upping his cloak of resistance to +2. Anyway, mind if I RP his obtaining his shadow companion during fight 3? Technically I think hes allowed to have it during the fight, so since my idea is to have it basically his shadow come to life in RP, I figure a good way to introduce it is for it to suddenly start helping him in the fight. Featylec flashed a smile at the Halfling. "I've taken on a lot worse than a minor gang boss. Don't worry about me. Besides, I have the sneaking suspicion it'll be easier for me to find him than for him to find me." With some final words of encouragement to the Halflings, Featylec heads out of view and lets the shadows cloak him again. He decides to stop by a magic shop in the district hes heard about, where he finds the proprietor more than willing to add some helpful enchantments to his equipment. With that accomplished, he heads back out into the city and takes to the rooftops again, searching the district for suspicious folk or creatures who may be lackeys of this gang boss, and keeping a sharp eye on his back to make sure no one sneaks up on him. |
| SauroGrenom03-09-07, 06:32 PM | That works. We can play it as we go through. Also I'll make your next encounter ECL10. The mission is an EL9 mission, and I'm allowed to throw a CR10 monster into an EL9 encounter (at least according to the Questlord rules). I've got to run home now, but when I get in I'll make a post and we can get this thing moving. I've got another concept that I want to tryout. All the others have been cake for you, but this one should be a challenge. |
| SauroGrenom03-10-07, 10:28 AM | Sliding stealthily and silently through the shadows under a bright moon, Featlylec searches the area for another opportunity to dish some vigilante justice. The night wears on and seams quiet, but a couple hours before sunrise Featylec hears a cry for help. Moving quickly toward the sounds, he comes across a scene similar to the one from earlier in the night. A thug is slapping a young girl and yelling about her stealing from him. She is struggling and trying to get away as she cries. Featlyec has a double take as he watches the scene for a second and realizes that the thug is the same one who escaped earlier this evening. He's tried to disguise himself, but not very well. Featlyec feels confident that no one has spotted him or heard him yet. |
| Zevox03-10-07, 04:46 PM | Setting his shield loose in the air, Featylec keeps himself wrapped in shadows and strings his bow. He thinks that this is far too convenient, especially with the man in a poor attempt at a disguise, though, and decides to try a new trick from his ever-deepening connection to the shadows. He stretches out through them for a moment and begins to twist and mold them, much as when he drew them around himself, except that this time he used them to create an image instead of blocking it - an image of himself with his bow drawn and sighted for the Thug's back, thirty feet from the Thug and about twenty in front of himself (knowing if he spoke from anywhere but directly behind it the thug would easily discern his voice wasn't coming from it). "Unless you want to end up like your friend did a few hours ago, I'd suggest you leave that woman alone," he says, doing his best to throw his voice so as to make it seem the image was him. I suspect a trap, sooo.... Featylec animates shield and draws his bow, then when 50' from the Thug uses his new Shadow Illusion (basically a Silent Image) as above. Heres hoping this works. |
| SauroGrenom03-10-07, 10:22 PM | Featylec prepares himself expecting a trap. The thug stops and shouts pointing at the image, That's him! I'm out of here! He runs through the threshold of the building, and the girl morphs into the shape of an old woman. She says, Don't be fooled by his tricks Tommy. Then she is suddenly gone! The alley looks empty, but Featylec feels that there is someone out there... But he cannot see that person where ever they are...Featylec keeps watch, then he sees something move in the corner of his eye... Thinking it's his foe, he whirls about... But it's nothing but his own shadow, which waves at him... Featylec wins initiative. The thug and Night Hag aren't in the fight. It's you and Tommy. However Tommy appears to be hidden and you haven't spotted him yet. |
| Zevox03-11-07, 05:03 PM | Featylec blinks uncertainly as his shadow's face widens a bit - possibly giving the closest it could to a grin without having a mouth - before it somehow moves straight down through the ground, vanishing from sight. Knowing better than to dwell on the phenomena, Featylec activates a tattoo to let himself hide better and listens for any unusual sounds. Shadow goes underground and moves up and down the ally. Incorporeal creatures can feel the presence of beings adjacent to them apparently, so he can locate Tommy this way and tell Featylec where he is (he can communicate intelligibly with his master, but only his master, so if he peeks his head up above ground and tells him Tommoy won't know what hes saying). Featylec will just tap a tattoo of chameleon and make an active listen check. |
| SauroGrenom03-12-07, 03:51 AM | I'm writing this before I do the fight. The opponent you are up against is a Human Ranger5/Assasin5. I made this choice because Featylec has been having no trouble against foes that stand around and try to spot him. It's been only a matter of time and enough skill checks to snipe away at a foe that doesn't have the ability to find you. I thought it's going to be interesting to "fight you shadow", in other words to have a foe with a similar fighting style to yours. PS: I assume you are making an active spot check. There's noting to listen if the opponent isn't moving. It's not like you can hear his heart beat from over 50 feet away. Active listen checks must be applied to something you can possibly here. You cannot just here someone standing someplace. So I'll be making active spot checks instead. This is the map: http://www.hwx.it/coco/coco.php;v=1;map=city;a=Tomm,M,1,31;b=Fe at,M,11,34 Note that I'm not requiring balance checks for Featylec or Tommy on this one. The map is just to give a sense of position. 1)Featylec tells his shadow to search for Tommy down in the alley and gets ready to attack when the shadow finds Tommy. Featylec taps a tattoo and tries to spot his foe w/o success. The shadow moves down into the ground and along the alley. The two foes are only 60 feet from one another but do not know it. Hidden in his perch on a rooftop across the alley, Tommy activates a crystal shard (spot) and tries to spot his foe but cannot see Featylec in the shadows. 2)Featylec tries to spot Tommy (cannot succeed), and readies to shoot if his shadow finds him. The shadow makes it to the end of the alley and moves back sweeping the other side of the alley (it's 10' wide imagine mowing the lawn). Tommy taps a tattoo (he bought it from the same place as Featylec got his) and tries to spot his opponent but fails. 3)Featylec tries to spot again and readies. The Shadow has now searched the whole of the alley floor, and begins to search the opposite rooftop and finds Tommy. It's moved too far to attack this round. Tommy quaffs a potion (Mage Armor) and tries to spot Featylec again, but he fails. 4)Featylec attempts to spot again. His shadow attacks Tommy. Tommy is surprised, but as an experienced assassin he doesn't cry out at all. The shadow's attack misses, but the creature calls out to Featylec and reveals Tommy's position. Tommy takes a 5' step back and looses an arrow at the creature attempting to snipe and stay hidden from Featylec. The shadow is nicked (3hp) (Tommy's bow is magic). Tommy disappears into the darkness, and Featlyec isn't sure where he was at when he attacked. Featylec hears the Attack but isn't sure where it came from (within 10'). 5)Featylec delays till after his Shadow. The shadow can sense Tommy near and attacks him again revealing Tommy's position. The creature of darkness clutches at Tommy's heart and he feels a weakness come over him (4str damage). Featylec cannot see him but snipes at the location of Tommy but fires an arrow into the darkness and misses the assassin. Tommy is scared by this strange creature of darkness which sucks his strength. He knows his ability with the bow will be weakened now, so he steps back, hides and draws and quaffs a potion (Cat's grace) that will help him evade the creature's touch. (Featylec cannot beat the minimum hide check). 6)The Shadow moves in for another attack but misses. Featylec uses the creature's attack to guide his own attack and another arrow is lost into the darkness. Tommy steps back and quaffs another potion (SoF+2) to protect himself against attack from this creature. 7)The Shadow continues to press its attacks but is rebuffed by the protections Tommy has mustered. Featylec snipes with another arrow and looses it into the shadows again. Tommy continues his retreat and attacks the Shadow again. He fires an arrow that passes through the shadow. Featylec does not see him. 8)The shadow misses tommy. Featylec continues to loose arrows into the shadows. Tommy continues to try and slay the shadow thats attacking him. His attack wounds the shadow (6hp). 9)The shadow attacks and misses. Featylec uses its attack to choose his own target and misses. Tommy attacks the Shadow but his arrow passes right through. 10)The shadow and Featylec miss again. Tommy is backed up against the edge of the roof, so he takes a risk and attacks w/o backing up. He grants an AoO that misses. Tommy's arrow hits (3hp). 11)The shadow and Featylec attack. The Shadow wounds Tommy (1pt Str), but Featylec misses again. Tommy retaliates and hits again (minimum 1hp damage with str penalties). 12)The shadow and Featylec miss again. Tommy shoots his own arrow, but it passes through the shadow. 13)The shadow and Featylec attack. This time Featylec hits Tommy with an arrow (6hp). Tommy wounds the Shadow again (5hp). 14)The shadow and Featylec attack. Featylect Hits again (9hp). Tommy fires another arrow and the shadow dissipates into nothingness. 15)Featylec attacks the last square Tommy was see in and hits (5hp). Tommy tries to see where the attack came from but fails. He quaffs a potion (Barkskin +2) takes a 5' step and hides. 16)Featylec has no idea where his opponent has gone. He delays. Tommy casts a spell (False Life +8hp) and moves to a new position and hides. Featylec listens to the casting but doesn't know where Tommy moved to (cannot make listen check at this distance). Tommy's SoF expires. 17)Featylec has nothing he can do w/o revealing his position (cannot snipe with a readied action). So he waits. Tommy knows this cannot go on forever, so he casts Darkness moves to hide within that effect. 18)Featylec delays. Tommy stops hiding and readies to shoot if he pinpoints Featylec. Featylec see's tommy and snipes at him but misses. Tommy spots Featylec (our shadow hero doesn't know that). Tommy shoots at Featylec but misses. 19)Featylec takes a 5' step and snipes at Tommy. Tommy spotted Featylec last round, so he simply swats the arrow away as it approaches (deflect arrows feat). Tommy cannot spot where Featlyec went, so he moves closer. 20)Tommy is now standing on the rooftop 10' away. Featylec shoots at him, but is confused by the magical darkness. Tommy cannot spot the archer. Tommy readies to shoot if he spots Featylec. 21)Featylec shoots at Tommy again but misses. Tommy spots Featylec and shoots his own arrow. It hits (minimum damage 1). 22)Featylect takes a 5' step and snipes. Tommy sees the arrow coming and deflects it. Tommy spots featylec as he tries to hide. Tommy them pulls a special arrow from his quiver and casts True Strike. 23)Featylec is once again foiled by the darkness. He doesn't take a 5' step this time because he doesn't know he's been spotted (and he doesn't know what that spell was). His snipe attempt fails to hide him anyway. Tommy shoots his arrow. It hits (6hp) and Featylec feels the burn of poison! Featylec's fortitude is enough to resist the poison. 24)Featylec takes a 5' step and snipes but misses. Tommy spotts Featylec again and casts true strike again as he draws another "special" arrow. 25)Featylec snipes again and hits (15hp). Tommy looses sight of featylec, so he recasts his spell. 26)Featylec snipes again and hits (13hp). Tommy looses sight of Featylec again, but he's wounded real bad, so he shoots his arrow at a square he heard the snipe come from. He chooses the correct one, and hits Featylec (5hp). Once again Featylec feels the burn of poison and fails to resist the Purple Worm Poison (2pts Str Damage). 27)Featlyec replies by shooting an arrow into the assassin. Tommy falls forward off the roof and lands with a nasty crunch on the stone floor below. |
| Zevox03-12-07, 07:35 PM | Heh, at least he wasn't a fellow Shadowdancer. I've pumped so many of Featylec's skill points into his sneaky skills, burglary abilities, and outmaneuver skills he had none for spot and few for listen. Its kinda ironic, but he basically auto-loses to characters of his type. Anyway, thanks a lot for running this, especially on such short notice! I'll make sure to poke TM with a big stick about QLs every time he wants to send one of my guys on a mission from now on. Just a reminder though: hes still in-cycle, even if he is now frozen, so the used arrows, tattoo, and Shadow Illusion special ability do need to be tracked for that. Hes not in the Iron Man, so he won't be reset for that. Weakened but victorious, Featylec makes his way over to the fallen human, still cloaked in shadows, to see if he is yet alive. He doesn't notice it for now, but his own shadow has returned to normal, for now. |
| SauroGrenom03-12-07, 09:00 PM | Featylec stands over the broken body of Tommy and is immediately certain the assassin is dead. As he examines the body for a few minutes, the large form of a halfgiant comes into view around the corner. His tremendous bulk moves quietly and with grace as he approaches Featylec. So you are the one who has finally slain the assassin of Kelartus. We of the Way are indebted to you. He has taken may of our brethren from the path. I am Rebreg. Whom are you? |
| Zevox03-12-07, 09:37 PM | "Featylec Elendi," the Shadowdancer replies and extends his hand. "A veteran member of the Warfare Alliance of central Gladius. You're a member of the Open Handed Way, then? Any chance you'd let speak with your leader for a little while? WAR's leader, Gwar, asked me to speak with him and see if he'd be interested in an alliance with us." |
| SauroGrenom03-12-07, 09:56 PM | The man shakes your hand. It is my pleasure to meet you Featylec. We of the Way each follows their on path through the world. We often travel paths with others of like mind who help show us The Way within or without. Among the followers of The Way, I'm as much a leader as their ever will be. If your Gwar searches for the right way as you have tonight, then we shall be friends. But alliances written on paper and sealed in ink are not for us. |
