| hogarth07-06-07, 09:13 AM | Picsou waddled down the cobblestone street, his eyes grimly fixated on the tenements and blind pigs that infested this area of town. The miser clutched his few prized possessions tightly, seeing thieves -- real or imagined -- out of the corner of each eye. He still hadn't seen the sign he was looking for: the Centaur's Hide tavern. Rumour said that it would be impossible to miss. Although poorly tanned and damaged by the occasional street brawl, the eponymous hide stretched across the front wall was unmistakable to even the most illiterate drunkards. A crowd of filthy urchins led by an emaciated girl with patches of missing hair was jeering and throwing pieces of gutter trash at him. The story of his losses in the arena had made him the subject of general mockery, but none of it touched Balthazar's adamantine heart. Only one thing stirred his emotions: gold, and plenty of it. That was what drew him here on such a cheerless evening. While searching for new buyers for his magical wares, he overheard a rumour about a fat-pursed city official with a bloody problem that needed solving. All he needed was the name of the victim; then his dearly purchased figurine could tear his -- or her -- head off and he could collect a small fortune. The duck practically drooled with delight at the thought. After an hour or more of skulking through alleyways, he found the boozecan where his contact would waiting. Its ramshackle timber walls seemed to be on the verge of collapse, and the filthy packed dirt floor was stained with spilled drink, vomit, and even less savoury substances sloshed over the years. The official (a Mr. Grelb) and Picsou stood out like sore thumbs, attracting the greedy eyes of cutpurses, slatterns and brawlers. He had better make their conversation short and to the point. "Ach, laddie; I hear there's somewhat needs killing. I'll do your dirty work for ye...if your money is good. But mark my words -- if you cross me, ye will wish ye were never born, by Asmodeus! Just tell me `who' and `where'," he asked Grelb with a grim and sullen glare. |
| Sjiggie07-08-07, 10:30 AM | "You're right Mr. Picsou we've some trouble in the district here. Some kind of aristocrat is giving money to people to move out of the district so he can buy their homes cheap and increase in influence here in the district. Now we have tried to get rid of him with our laws here but his lawyers always won the case. So now we turn to you can you help us and get rid of this man. It is said that he has 2 personal bodyguards around his house all the time but that shouldn't be a problem for you, or is it?" The man said with a little sarcastic tone in his last sentence as off he is hinting to the arena record of Balthazar. |
| hogarth07-08-07, 01:19 PM | "I dinna care what this man may have done. Gold is gold -- I'll see him sent to the boneyard." The duck slinked away from the squalid tavern. He couldn't help admiring his quarry's plan; getting a good price through threats and intimidation was an excellent idea, after all. His only failing was making wealthy enemies along the way. He headed towards the man's dwelling as stealthily as possible, his bronze griffon clutched in his sweaty hand. |
| Sjiggie07-08-07, 01:26 PM | Balthazar moves through the alleyways to the home of his target. At the end of the alley he spots the building where his target should live. He sees 1 humanoid standing in the yard in front of the building but he knows there has to be a second one also from the conversation with his employer. http://www.hwx.it/coco/coco.php;v=1;map=city;a=Name,M,19,33,Bal thazar;b=Name,M,23,58,Guard1;c=Name,M,31 ,58,Guard2 |
| hogarth07-08-07, 10:44 PM | Balthazar activates his bronze griffon and orders it to grapple the man he can see, then he draws his sling. A full attack from the griffon should look something like +10/+5 (grapple attempts)/+9 (bite)/+8/+8 (claw x2) and possibly +8/+8 (rake x2) if charging. |
| hogarth07-10-07, 06:33 AM | Balthazar's tactics will be to snipe from approx. 90' away with his sling while the griffon grapples. If one of the guards tries to get close to him, he'll try a Sleep spell. |
| Sjiggie07-10-07, 04:21 PM | Balthazar activates his bronze griffon and the little statue grows to a large griffon in front of him. The griffon charges at the man it sees guarding the house. The griffon pounces the man and shreds it to pieces. The second guard downs a potion and hopes for the best. Balthazar moves a bit more furhter into the alleway towards the house. The griffon spots its next target and pounces that one also but this time it cannot penetrate the defences of the man so easily. The second guard attacks the griffon with his spiked chain and scores a minor wound on the griffon. The griffon bites and claws again hoping to kill the man. The griffon only manages to hit with its bite but it is enough to kill the second guard. The path to the doorway of the house lies open to Balthazar... |
| hogarth07-10-07, 04:52 PM | Balthazar commands the griffon to break down the door of the house. It squeezes awkwardly inside the building while he himself follows behind. He glances about the interior looking for his quarry and also keeping an eye out for any expensive treasures to loot on the way out. |
| Sjiggie07-10-07, 05:43 PM | The griffon as little problems breaking down the door and it squeezes itself inside with Balthazar following him inside. In the hall of the building there is a set of stairs leading to the top floor and 3 doors. Balthazar orders the griffon to guard the exit of the house while he looks on the ground floor for his victim. He doesn't find him in the dining room but does see some nice golden statues. He overcomes his greed and searches on for his victim. In the kitchen is no sign of the aristrocrat but he does find some nice silver cutlery and bronze plates. In the last room on the ground floor he sees nothing but some nice artwork. He comes back into the main hall and takes the stairs to the top floor. He finds his victim lying in bed with his sheets on top of him... |
| hogarth07-10-07, 06:11 PM | Without even saying a word, he feebly lifts his scythe above his head and brings it crashing down on the figure in the bed. |
| Sjiggie07-10-07, 06:17 PM | Balthazar silently raises his scythe above his head and brings it down upon the boble of sheets. As he raises it again a drip of blood falls from the scythe upon the sheets leaving a tiny red stain in the sheet seconds after it a growing stain of red appears in the sheet and Balthazar know that the man is dead... |
| hogarth07-10-07, 06:26 PM | The ducks nods in satisfaction and proceeds to methodically loot the house of any valuables before going to collect his bountry from Grelb. |
| Sjiggie07-10-07, 06:59 PM | Satisfied with the result Balthazar loots the house before the officials arrive at the scene and returns to Grelb for his bounty. "You have done a good job Mr. Picsou you might want to consider doing this as a living aigh" |
