The Circle meets only rarely during times of plenty, and members can expect a great deal of freedom as long as they follow the tenets of druidic life. However, the recent destruction of the Tree of Life has resulted in a fury of activity by the Circle, both in efforts to restore the Tree and to bring Nature's justice to those who would defile our world. |

| Guild Master05-04-04, 06:41 PM | Important news and notes: |
| freemoody05-14-04, 04:56 PM | Lillith enters the Jindl's forest grove and drops to her knees before him. "Jindl, please forgive me. I have have failed the Great Forest. The Lichking's power was too great. I deserve nothing less than to be exiled from the Circle of Druids." |
| GreatDruid05-14-04, 05:36 PM | Lillith waited for an answer with her eyes closed, fully expecting the current Great Druid, Jindl of the High Forest, to cast her out of the grove and out of the circle. Needless to say, she was surprised when instead she heard a small thump as an object landed in front of her kneeling form. Opening her eyes, she saw a small, golden acorn laying on the forest floor before her. In confusion, she looked up at Jindl. He was kneeling before her, and his words carried a kindness not often heard. "Lillith, do you know what that is? That is our hope. It's also a reminder of my greatest failure. It's one of the few remaining acorns from the Tree of Life, the tree that I was unable to protect from Bilo. With it, or one of the others like it, the tree may be reborn. In these acorns rest the power of Life, and of the Circle. As long as these exist, then we have not truly lost. Do not fear the loss of a single battle, when so much of the war is still left undecided. Now stand up, and take the power within this acorn as your own. But I caution you to use it wisely. Guard the Balance and destroy those, like Bilo and Vaarkalikax, who would upset it." It was probably the longest statement the Great Druid had ever made to her. She took the words to heart, as she stood with the acorn in her hand. A look of determination gleamed in her eyes as she began planning her revenge and the Lichking's destruction. |

| GreatDruid06-15-04, 02:32 PM | Jindl listened as Dra'kel Mourning recounted the tale of his fight against the ancient evil, Zedarak. The title of great druid, which Jindl had borne since the Age of Dawn, grew heavier each year and as each new evil appeared. That was why the Great Druid had been so pleased to find such a capable student as Dra'kel, despite his early failings. And now the knowledge that his student had grown in power to nearly match his own gave comfort to Jindl's heart as the days grew darker. "... and as I watched, the beast's broken body began to slowly rejoin. Parts of flesh, bone, and pigeon feathers scattered wide across the field began to reunite. And as they joined, they grew and red scales began to emerge. I left before the evil one fully regained his form, to pass the news to you and seek your council," Dra'kel said, finishing his story. The rise of the ancient evils was something Jindl had long expected, since Bilo had destroyed the Tree of Life. One of the Tree's many powers was to hold Zedarak (and others like him) trapped deep beneath its roots. It had taken time for Jindl to grow a new sapling from the acorns he had recieved. Even now, the new sapling which Jindl nurtured in a hidden location within the High Forest was not strong enough to contain all the ancient evils. And Zedarak had been the first to escape. "It is as I feared, my friend. The sapling has not grown strong enough to contain all the ancient evils, and Zedarak has managed to free himself. You have done well to disrupt his Cult. It will take him quite some time to reform them. But he will still remain a threat. As you saw, his regenerative powers are incredible. So I have dispatched a request to some old friends at the Order of the Bow. Perhaps they can hold Zedarak at bay long enough for us to deal with Bilo and Bruno." Dra'kel's eyes widened as Jindl mentioned his greatest foes. "But, I thought they were gone?" "No, merely hiding from us. But they are beginning to stir. I can sense their power growing, gaining purpose. Soon they will renew their efforts to subvert our world. And when they unleash their evil, we must be ready." "But what about the Celestial Forces? Won't they be able to handle them?" Dra'kel asked. "Skymoon, Ebelin and our other friends at the Celestial Forces should be able to bring quite a fight to Bilo and Bruno. But I fear they will not be strong enough. We shall have to focus our efforts on destroying them as well. And keeping Zedarak at bay. For this reason, I am glad to have you with me, my friend," Jindl said, smiling broadly at his former student. "You can sense it, can't you Dra'kel? The world has lent you its power to a far greater extent. For the first time since the Time Before Dawn, the world has given its power to two Great Druids. Now my friend, we must put our strength to the task of protecting the world that has so empowered us. The end of the First Age draws near, and we must succeed if there is to be a second one." Jindl's dire prophecy still echoed in his ears, even as Dra'kel felt the power of his new position as a Great Druid fill his veins. Never had there been two such as these. But then never had there been so great a need. |
| cellardweller06-15-04, 09:34 PM | A tiny sparrow wings its way from its observation point above the circle. "It pains me to spy on my brothers, but the master will be very interested in this," Gabriel thinks, heading back to the headquarters of the Ravens. |
| Druid Roxors06-28-04, 03:49 PM | Months have passed since Corinthus last met Jindl. Although he accepted his invitation to join the circle, never had he felt the need to stay arround. Being the solitary lad he is, the matters of the world hadn't weight heavily upon him. However, lately, in his mind, he has found something that clouds his true spirit. Although his fights in gladius had brought him to be one of the most powerful Gladiators in the arena, he cannot continue. Something is terribly wrong as of late, something or someone is disrupting the balance he strives to preserve. At last he seeks the council of Jindl, the Eldest of Druids, only to find much has changed since their last encounter. Dra'kel? What are you doing here? What happened to Jindl? Why are you in those sacred robes? |
| MotherBast06-28-04, 05:28 PM | Dra'kel turns to face his old aquantince. Ah, Corinthus, you have returned. And you could not have chosen a better time. As you can see, events have changed somewhat then when we each left on our quests to preserve the High Forest. Many struggles I have fought since that day. In turn, Nature has empowerd me to better serve and protect her. I am not the young novience you once knew. My power has grown equal to that of even Jindl now. I sense your power has grown as well. You, you are on the cusp of reaching the same plato... It is a dire sign that the earth feels it would need 3 such protectors of that power. Perhapse... perhapse we have underestamated the threat that Zedarak poses. Dra'kel ponders for a moment. And yet, it also stands to reason, that the Circle has great foes, in Zedarak, Bilo and his allies, and the Lich King, then it sould have members of equal power. I wonder if Lillith is experiencing an equal increase in her abilitys. It is a matter I must look into. Jindl is currently away on buisness, but he should return shortly. He will be able to tell you more about what must be done. I belive I must seek out Lillith and determin wether or not she to is being called.... With that, Dra'kel summons Dusty, and casting a spell, the two step into a tree and vanish. |
| GreatDruid07-04-04, 05:41 PM | As Dra'kel and Dusty vanish into the tree, Corinthius sits down to wait for Jindl to return. <elsewhere> Thunder rumbled through the sky, as Jindl watched the end of the pixie's hunt. It was as if the skies themselves were reinforcing the pixie's electrical attacks. Smoke escaped from Zedarak's wounds and then with a final shocking discharge, the ancient evil fell to earth. For Jindl, the sounds of gossamer wings brought back memories of the old Tree of Life, and of pleasant times he had spent there with the family of sprites that called it home. Pushing such thoughts aside, he approached the pixies. Completely invisible to a normal human, Kiri'endelas and Mystic were surprised to see the shape of a man walking across the sky towards them. But when the dark shape of a dire bat swooped out of the clouds and around them, Kiri recognized her old friend. "You have done well my friends. But quickly, we must leave this place. The ancient evil shall arise again soon, and we have much to discuss. Please accompany me to the Circle." Sensing the seriousness of Jindl's voice, Kiri and Mystic quickly flew towards the tree that Jindl was approaching. Placing their hands upon his armored shoulder, they felt the portal within the tree open to them. Moments later, they felt themselves whisked through the oak, along with the druid and the bat. <back in the Circle> Corinthius stood as Jindl returned, unaware of the two pixies. But little time passed before his keen senses detected their presence. And then, Jindl began to explain ... "... and so Zedarak is the first to awaken. We must hold him at bay until the Tree is strong enough for us to imprison him again. And we must defend against the threat of Bilo Darkleaf, who I sense is beginning to become active again. Kiri'endelas and Mystic, on behalf of the Circle, we ask you to join us in this fight. Will you help us?" As both druid's waited for their answer, Corinthius knew that he too would soon have to face Zedarak. It was a prospect he found ... invigorating. |
| Druid Roxors07-06-04, 07:02 AM | Corinthus knew about Zedarak. According to what Dra'kel told him, his greatest weapon, the "Corinthian Fire", would be completely useless. This beast of fire and flesh was something unexpeted to Corinthus. Although disturbed, he was anxious. Plans revolved arround his head and he became unable to contain the tapping of his feet... |
| Ethendril07-08-04, 03:46 PM | "Of course we will join the Druids, Jindl. Long have the druids and forces of nature been companions against those who would destroy us. Your wisdom has shown you that we fight the same enemies, even without you asking it of me." Kiri looked northward toward her recent battle with Zedarak. "He is powerful, Jindl...more powerful than you can imagine. It was only my surprise attack that saved me, and he was resistant to most of my attacks." Gingerly, she felt her ribs, where the powerful behemoth's arms had nearly crushed her. "Yes, I will join you. May the might of nature once again contain the ancient evils of the world. I sense a storm brewing." With a nod to Jindl and Corinthus, Kiri's wings took her back to the hunt, Mystic in tow. |
| MotherBast07-09-04, 04:28 PM | Dra'kel steps from the great oak into the grove. Though he had seen it only once before, he knew every inch of the forest by heart, and found it effortlessly. This particular patch was the private sanctuary of Lillith. As Dra'kel entered the grove, he spotted her sitting atop a stone in the center of the grove. Lillith, there is a matter of some importance I must discuss with you. It has occured to me.... Lillith? Are you well? Dra'kel asked, realizing the young druid had not even bothered to lift her head when he approched. I killed it. I killed the shadowspawn. Shadowspawn? What are you talking about? What is this shadowspawn you speak of? It dosen't matter Dra'kel. It is dead. The only way to kill it they said, was to kill myself... and it a way, I did. My heart, my spirit, are dead. Dra'kel was taken back by the news... not just the words, but he realized as she spoke that Lillith's voice had not changed. The words seemed to drag themselves from her mouth with consistant speed and tone, like the voice of a ghost.... I don't know who "they" are Lillith, or what you have allowed them to do to you, but I'm sure we can help you. If you give Jindl and I time, we can find something, a cure. That would be wonderfull.Lillith said, but her voice was devoid of hope, or care, and still her face did not lift. Looking up at last she said I can no longer fight. My will has been stolen from me. My body is only a shell, my core is gone. I am not undead, but I am not truley alive either. I can no longer serve the circle. I will simply wait here, untill I fade into dust, and again serve the earth. Dra'kel was stunned. Thinking quickly, he summoned a messanger to carry the news back to the circle, and sat to wait with Lillith. As the two awoke the next morning, the bird was perched atop the rock. With it was a message from Jindl, with the decison of himself and the other members of the Circle. --- We can not allow Lillith to let herself die. We need to buy time untill a cure for her condition can be found. We have discussed the matter, and feel that it is not safe for her to do battle in her current state. However, we belive another purpose might serve to give her a reason to live untill we have discovered a means to revive her spirit. Several young Druids are entering Gladius. The call of nature grows stronger here every day. Like ourselves, they are being empowered by the earth, gaining strength as they battle. It seems the phenomanon is not exclusive to the Circle alone, but all druids in Gladius are experiencing it. Send Lillith to watch over and guide these young druids, so that perhapes one day they can join with us in our quest. This, we belive, will feed two birds with one berry, giving Lillith a goal to occupy her, while at the same time guiding the young druids. Good luck Dra'kel, and return safely.---- Dra'kel proposed the idea to Lillith. If the Circle wishes it, I will watch the young druids. she said, her voice giving no hint at all that she cared for the task, or for anything for that matter. As she finnished speaking, she spat, her face contorting as if she had a foul tast in her mouth. Dra'kel had seen her make the gesture several times already. Whatever had happened to her, that was the only physical evidence that remained, the constant taste of vileness..... As Lillith sat off twords Gladius atop her companion, Dra'kel shook his head, and stepped back into oak, casting the spell that would return him to the grove of the Circle, where the sappling of the Great Tree was being tended. |

As if those beings had just banished... We quickly used our spells to bring light in the blinding darkness but nothing seemed to work. We felt tentacles grasp our feet and a dark short laugh caught our attention. By hearing alone could we guess who it was, and quite certain we were, Bilo Darkleaf floated among the darkness. As we readied for our counter attack Bilo spat "Kalortpor!" and disappeared. It was then we realized this had been a trap, a distraction... Zedarak was busy elsewhere... Traveling undisturbed through the high forest and Bilo was helping him. "We must look for Zedarak and Bilo! We must split and try to find them before its too late!" Corinthus flew from the cavern complex without hesitation; Jindl and Dra’kel were still wearied about such spontaneity. |
