a) Must have one Level or More of assassin.

b) Must have the following:
1) Evil alignment
2) Hide and Move Silently total bonuses +10 each
3) Must assassinate one foe. Must have one win

The Nighthawks have existed for a great deal of time. Indeed, the time they are believed to exist is wrong by a far amount. How they began and for what purpose, none are sure. It is believed, though unproved, that the Nighthawks began with insane devotees of Nerul and Wee Jas who decided to bring their dieties 'gift' to all who did not wish it. The story told by cowering peasants and fearful lords tells thus:

There was a single man, Marmanoth, who began the Nighthawks. He was an insane priest of an obscure death god. He was told by this diety (now believed to be a different form of Nerul) to take all his fellows and strive in the desert. What Marmanoth kept from his fellows was this: of those who went, only one would return.

Marmanoth and his dread followers, now called the Black Talon legion, went deep into the heart of the desert. Many who saw them told fearsome tales of dead men walking, for that is indeed what they appeared. Many starved to death or shriveled and died from lack of water. Of the some hundred that entered the deseret, only Marmanoth survived. As a sign of his pleasure, his diety sent a hawk to purch on his shoulder in the dead of night. The hawk feasted on the entrails of the recent departed. Marmanoth recieved an insane vision; a band of killers whose only desire was to take the lives of others.

Thus the Nighthawks were formed. Of the guild itself, very few know. They are not so much a guild of assassins for hire as a legion of death. They care not for the victem. They have been known to kill lowely merchents and beggers as well as kings and nobility. Their highest, Nightlords, are actually vampires or liches, undead who lead them.

Many undermine just how far many of the guild are willing to go. Nighthawks have been known to kill themselves rather than devulge information. It is this reason that some carry poisen daggers. They are rarely for their victems. Some of the more inventive poisen their fingernails or even a slight blade under a ring. Some of the highest in their order have even been know to 'will' themselves to death. None are sure how they attain this except they force themselves to lose all will to live.

While many expect Nighthawks to be stealthy and silent, waiting for the sneak attack, it is not uncommon for Nighthawks to keep pressing an attack. This is often unexpected and gives an edge. This is also in part due to the fact that not all Nighthawks are assassins or even rouges. Some are rangers or even warriors who tend to stealth.

In Gladius, the Nighthawks are emerging subtly. As always, they wait for the right opportunity to strike.

Kelek: "Naw naw sonny yeer doing it all wrong, when you go up to stab a man yee don't look at him. Not till 'e last moment."

Boy: "Ah willikers, well if I don't look at him, how am I supposed to you know..."

Kelek: "kill him? By Nerull yerr daft! Fix yer gaze 50ft in front of de mark. Walk towards it, brisk like, but don't run! That draws attention, then-"

A burst of smoke, and a smell of sulpher fill the air, and the two stop. Everyone in the hall stops and turns to look at the entrance of one who, though he could with perfect ease, cares not to hide at the moment. Bilo darkleaf, perhaps the most feared and definitly the smallest gladiator ever to walk the blood red streets of gladius. He's 'smiling' if you could call his rictus grin a smile.

Bilo: "Aye, attention. Thas the trick right there. I wholly approve of what yee doing here and would jump in a second...if I didn't have a bit of the ol evil eye trained on me my every waking and sleeping hour."

Boy: "Gee wiz! You mean Naere-"

Bilo: "I wouldn't finish that, unless you really want to draw his gaze down on you and yours"

Boy: *swallows nervously*

Bilo: "Right, I don't commonly make social calls, but I figured I'd make an exception for such a fine group of rabble rousers. Hmm, I believe thats just about it for me. Oh and kid, the best way to kill a man: make him so terrified of yah, he does it himself. Caio."

Sulfer and smoke and the halfling is gone.
