arena. Many older people still remember Slefwee who didn't fare very well in mortal combat and many ridiculous songs, funny stories, and Slefwee jokes are still being told in the taverns. A creature from the sea just has no place on land... Oh how they were wrong! It was a cold night when he arrived, Mer-Man, a dread from another world, perhaps another universe, but no one knew for sure. The race was unknown but it was clear that this musculous warrior could walk on land like any human though he had a natural strength few humans could hope to match! Time would show what Mer-Man was doing in Gladius but whatever it was, it wasn't something good. | SauroGrenom02-23-06, 11:38 PM | Mer-Man lounges in his Sahuagin halls built amongst the coral ridges to the south and east of Galdius Harbor. Munching the wriggling larva of Chuul, which had been brought by a visiting tributary servant as a delecacy to delight him, Mer-Man enjoyed the numbing and slightly reckless fealings instilled by the creatures secretions. The servant's gift is as weak and obvious attempt to raise Mer-Man's agressive tendencies and to direct those tendencies against the Locanthan that controll the waters adjacent to this Sahuagin's nets. The pathetic servant pleads for raids to drive his rivals away. While considering the appropreat treatment for this servant, Mer-Man notices an immaterial Halfling drift throught the coral and pearl wall in the rear of the great hall. Standing tall with his adamantium glaive in had and a menacing vissage presented to the visitor, Mer-Man prepaires to attack; but the halfling stops his advance near the end of the hall and calls out in friendly tones. I come on buisiness of the PSI Consotrium at the instruction of our Guildmaster Raskos the Jade Father. We wish to forge an alliance with the Sahuagin Mer-Man. Cautiously the apparation approaches providing more detail as he nears. We offer valuable trading relations and we propose to lend our political influince to protect Sahuagin interests in the waters near Gladius. In return we ask that Mer-Man join our ranks and teach our members his techniques and that he act in our intrests as he controls the waters near Gladius. We hope to have a mutually profitable relationship. And we have a token deal that will forshadow the profits of the relationship between us in the future. Is Mer-Man interested in this deal? The ghost stops 50' ahead and waits for Mer-Man's response and is ready to act upon his agreement or agression. |
| Caterane02-24-06, 02:24 PM | Mer-Man's eyes bulged as he realized the nature of this creature. A ghost! Resisting the urge to attack right away (or flee while ordering his sahuagin to attack), he leaned back with a smirk on his broad mouth. He had heard about the Psi Consortium and had thought all the time that there was more behind this 'peaceful' trading organization. Perhaps he could get out richer and mightier than before. "Blblblbblblbllblb" the sahugain opened. His voice sounded as if his mouth would be filled with water, perhaps it was and the ghost asked himself if this creature was capable of speech at all, or if Raskos had anyhow misinformed him about a secret language the sahuagin speaks only. All doubts vanished with the next sentence though "I have heard of the Psi Consortium. I know it's a powerful guild in the human city above. But it is also composed of weak humans mostly. I doubt that the cattle is capable of aiding the sahuagin race!" Mer-Man was silent, and for Samuel it seemed as if the sahuagin chief had said everything but then Mer-Man continued. "Unless...." He looked at the servant who was still kneeling on the ground infront of his coral throne. "I have a test for the PSI fist to see if it is worth my time. This is a messenger from the sahuagin tribe of Khar Blorblop, one of my rivals. Apparently the bastard is hard-pressed by the locathah. I think this is a good time to show him who is the real master in these waters. Go and tell Khar that I will defeat the locathah for him if he swears allegiance to me. If he agrees, defeat the locathah. If not, defeat him. In any case, if you return before the next full moon with good news, I will agree to an alliance with your organization." |
| SauroGrenom02-25-06, 11:37 AM | The halfling considers the Sahuagin's words for a moment. I am not empowered to bargin for the Consortium, but your request will be easy enough for me to accomplish. If you will accept our request and perform a small service for the Consortium, I will handle this problem for you. Raskos has ordered a shipment of specially endowed pearls and oysters. Today we learned that our shipment was intercepted by a Locathan champion and his allies. If you will track this Locathan and return the pearls and oysters he has stolen, I will deal with this Khar on your behalf. Raskos will pay handsomely for the safe return of his pearls... do your accept? |
| Caterane02-25-06, 11:47 AM | "Ha! Is this a test for me? Are you questioning the incredible might of MER-MAN?" the sahuagin shouted back and his servants already began to seek cover but then he leaned back again in his corral throne "Alright then, I will perform this service for you. Where was the attack and how did he look like? Any special marks? Speak ghost as long as you're still able to." |
| SauroGrenom02-25-06, 12:20 PM | The ghost smiles thinly saying, "The attack was this morning about two miles south of Galdius Harbor where the deep ocean ships pass throught a gap in the reef there. The Locatha Champion rides a shark and wears a shining silver armor. His head is also marked by a golden crest. Only the pearls were taken from the ship, and we suspect the Locathan believes himself to be acting with honorable intentions. I shall go to see this Khar.. With that the halfling drops into the floor and is gone from site. Since Sahuagin ride sharks and this is an underwater advanture we will consider Ganime to be a large shark if that's alright with you (Both are CR2 monsters). Also, I'm on Yahoo right now, so we can speed things up with that if you like. |
| Caterane02-25-06, 12:37 PM | Mer-Man began to become lost in thoughts. A locathah in a shining silver armor; should not be hard to find out. Swinging on his shark, he jetted out of his underwater cave and into the open sea towards the place of the attack... |
| SauroGrenom02-25-06, 02:41 PM | As you approach the gap in the coral cliffs, Mer-Man's shark mount communicates telepathicially that it smells blood in the water. Nearing the pass you see the remanints of old ships that were miss guided onto the corals and the wrecks of these ships lie crumbling along the base of the cliffs. You keen eye scanns the hulks of these ships as you pass following a wide arc that leads to where you know the pass lies. Rounding the final turn you see the frenzied swirls of small sharks tearing at the bodies of a few sailors that float at the surface. Schools of these small sharks attack the corpses and dart away in cycles as larger sharks circle in to tear at the meat. Keeping your distance from the frenzy above, you scan the sea floor along the pass through the coral. Here is where any clues may have fallen, and your instincts are rewarded when you keen eyes spot a human arrow freshly fallen to the sea floor and coated in blood. After smelling the arrow, your mount indicates it can easily track the scent to the south. Durring this time your attention is distracted (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=374306) and you do not notice an adversary has taken interest in you untill it is already barreling down on you. You look up to see a giant octopus comming from the south charging out of the dark hull of a wrecked ship. Your lightning fast reflexes allow you to act (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=374369) before it is ontop of you. The giant octopus is now 40' away, we are on an open plain on the seafloor and Mer-Man is standing right next to your Shark Mount. The direction your mount indicates it needs to move to track the locathan is past the octopus. |
| Caterane02-25-06, 03:39 PM | "Argh. A sea predator who dares to approach MER-MAN without a present? I will teach it a lesson then! ROATSHAKK!!" and the shark complied by speeding away from the octopus while Merman used his psionic power to erect some barriers of force. Mer-Man buffs with force screen and shield of faith while the much faster shark keeps distance. Uhm, I just realized that I forgot to replenish my ressources. Can I have 2 force screen and 2 SoFs retroactively? |
| SauroGrenom02-26-06, 11:43 AM | I'll let you have a couple powerstones and potions no problem, but I'm unclear about your tactic here. Since Mer-Man is standing beside his mount and the octopus will be ontop of you after your next action, I assume that you'll want to quickmount and ride the mount while putting the buffs up. Otherwise you'll only be able to move 60' and manifest then get attacked by the octopus. Leaping onto your shark's back, you race away (moving 120') from the beast drawing a stone that glows with a subtle inner green light and you concentrate (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=375094) to activate the power stored within. The giant octopus's animal mind is pleased that you flee from it, and it gives chase at it's maximum speed (using a run action to travel 120'). The rolling collection of tentacles darts forward and continues to loom over you now 40' feet behind you. |
| Caterane02-27-06, 04:52 AM | Mer-Man just wanted to buy a few seconds to get his buffs up savely which the octopus foolishly mistook as cowardice. Mer-Man grinted his teeth that his enemy even dared to think something like that and swore to give it a slow death for that presumption. He drew his trident, grabbed it with both hands, and approached the octopus. Mer-Man tumbles towards the octopus (15+7 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=375619)) while drawing his trident and attacks the octopussi from a higher position and PA3 (3+11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=375620)) but misses. The Shark also attacks but misses aswell (6+8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=375621)). No luck this round. |
| SauroGrenom02-27-06, 03:43 PM | A swarm or tentacles lash (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=375887) at Mer-Man from all directions.(I rolled 10 times instead of 8, just ignore the last two rolls) Two tentacles land solid blows causing (15hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=375890)) large welts where the suckers landed. The creature wrapps its tentacles around Mer-Man and succeeds (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=375919) at holding Mer-Man with its suckers. I'm going to have to reread the grapple rules for monsters now that the new Errata came out. |
| Caterane02-28-06, 05:03 AM | Sauro, my AC is 30 (24+force screen+SoF) so none of the tentacles hit. The new grapple errata says that you can only use one of your natural weapons in a grapple. You can attack multiple times only if you have a high enough bab or rakes. Pretty bad for Mer-Man because that was what he focused on. |
| Caterane02-28-06, 05:13 AM | Mer-Man plunges the trident into the side of the octopus, pulled it out visciously and back into the same wound. As if that wasn't enough he bit a good chunk of calamares out of the fish and further opened the hole with his sharp feet. The octopus knew it was about to die if it doesn't flee. Mer-Man fullattacks with Trident (17+14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376474)) (18+9 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376475)), Bite (18+11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376476)) and 2 Rakes (10+11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376477)) (7+11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376478)) all hit for altogether 43 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376479) damage. The Shark attacks aswell (3+8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376480)) but misses. |
| SauroGrenom02-28-06, 10:51 AM | The octopus is frustrated at this prey's tenacity, and it squirts ink into the water forming a cloud of blackness that obscures its position. The creature attempts to jet away, but your water senses reveal its position even in the ink. Mer-Man lashes (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376687) out with his trident as the octopus attempts to flee and the creature is skewered (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=376706) on your spear. Mer-man chuckles his fishy laugh as the creatures tentacles twitch and fall limp and as your shark begins to tear at the flesh of the creature. |
| Caterane02-28-06, 10:57 AM | "HA! You still want to hunt Mer-Man?" the sahuagin said to the octopus corpse on his trident then just retrieved his weapon from the body and turned his shark into the direction where he wanted to go in the first place. |
| SauroGrenom03-02-06, 11:02 AM | Using his sharks keen sense of smell for blood, Mer-Man follows the scent of blood on the human arrow to the south. Unmolested Mer-Man travels 4 hours to the south tracking the scent along the coast before comming to the opening of a sudden and grand fissure in the sea floor. Your shark's sense of smell indicates that your quarry has entered the fissure at this point. From your current vantage point it is not clear how deep the opening is, but you dare not swim over the crack because you will be clearly visible to any below (outlined by a light background of the sunlit water above). The crack extends along the north and south directions for about two miles. |
| Caterane03-02-06, 12:17 PM | Every sense in Merman urged him to charge right into the chasm but his shark told him telepathically that he didn't want to die. Dissappointed about his sharks cowardice he moved to the edge instead and looked down. Mer-Man moves to the edge, hiden, and looks down. If he doesn't see anyone he descends into the chasm. |
| SauroGrenom03-03-06, 10:04 AM | Mer-Man inches close to the edge and peers into the chasm. A ragged slope drops steeply about 80' to the bottom and you can see nothing threatening at the bottom. So mounting his shark Mer-Man slips over the edge and silently glides to the bottom. The Shark contiues to track you next victims to the north along the fissure, and about a half hour later you near the northern edge and spot the mouth of an undersea cavern. A soft glow is visible from within, and silently you apporach the mouth of the cavern. Use this map. |
| Caterane03-03-06, 10:10 AM | Merman doesn't waste time and enters the cave ...after he manifested force screen from a stone and drank a potion of SoF. He knew the effects are shortlived so he commands his shark forward while he downed the potion. Trident at the ready, he tried to make out any threats. |
| SauroGrenom03-04-06, 12:30 PM | For the battle I'm going to print a copy of the map and label it's squares. I suggest you do the same to avoid any confusion. Starting in the top left I'll label the squares 1-19 across the top and A-N down the side. For creatures that are Large (Mer-Man's mount) I'll label the position as the top left corner of the area they occupy. Mer-man activates his stone and drinks his potion then charges into the cave. His preparation is noticed (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=380069) by the inhabitants of the cave. They make there preparations as well... Champion drinks a potion and readies an action to throw his javalin at any enemy comming in the cave mouth. Champion's ally casts a spell and gets into position and readies to cast if he see's the champion throw his javalin. Mer-Man charges into the cave and when he reaches K7 he spots the Locathan Champion mounted on a large shark at the rear of the cave at position F16. The Locathan's eye narow to slits and he 8+8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=380074) hurls his javalin, the weapon flies true but cannot penetrate Mer-Man's armor. Then Mer-Man hears (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=380075) casting in the room to the north. He thinks the casting is comming from square C10 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=380077). You're located at K7 mounted on your shark. From here you can charge the champion, and you see the into but not all of the room on your left. The room to the north has openings that are too small for your mount to enter without squeezing into them. |
| Caterane03-05-06, 02:13 PM | Mer-Man's biggest wish was to swim over to the 'champion' and rip him apart but as an expert warrior he knew that casters could prove a bigger problem if given time. He raked into Ganime's flanks who swam around the wall and came to a halt right infront the caster. A trident and sharkbite later, the first blood began to mix with the deep blue water. Merman and Ganime move to the caster and attack (17+13+1higher-1PA = 30 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=380685)) for (1d8+11 = 13 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=380686)) damage. The Shark attacks too (Ac22; Damage 8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=380689)). |
| SauroGrenom03-05-06, 04:50 PM | My wife's grandmother died a few days ago and we are now going to the funeral services today and over the next few days. I'm writing now from my father in law's home computer and I don't have my materials in front of me. I won't be home untill monday evening, so I'll try to catch up at that time. I do however remember that the caster is in a location that you cannot get your shark in there. You'll have to dismount to get to the caster, and there is no way to get to that person in one move. |
| Caterane03-05-06, 04:59 PM | According to the map, the shark can squeeze everywhere. It just costs twice per squeezed square. PS: My condolences. |
| SauroGrenom03-07-06, 01:05 AM | You're right, the movement speed is just barely enough to get there. Mer-Man moves to strike the caster (ending at E8), and is supprised to find a shark guarding at position I4. As he moves around the corner it attacks 4+5 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381826) merman's mount but misses. You Grit your teeth as you race past the guardian and it snaps at your mount again as you pass it 7+5 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381829) misses. Your blow's disrupt (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381832) the caster's concentration. The caster then withdraws throught a passage to the east and ends at E14. Next the caster's shark guard charges trough the gap in the west side of the chamber ending its movement at E7 and it attacks your mount again. The creature bites but misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381846) again. Finally the Champion uses his mount to squeeze throught the passage that the caster just passed through and ends at position D10. He attacks with his lance but misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381849) (flanking bonus on the attack roll). His mount also bites at Mer-Man missing (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381851) (should have been +13, but missed anyway). |
| Caterane03-07-06, 05:44 AM | @Sauro: I am indeed surprised about a hidden shark since both I and my shark have blindsight 30. Additionally, my shark can scent up to 180 feet which he telepathically tells me. I'm also a bit confused as to which database I should add my rolls. You seem to use a different name each time. A quest uses one name for all rolls which both participants share. The coward wizard wasn't worth Mer-Man's attention so he hoped that the champion would live up to his name. He wildly flailed at the locatha. Merman attacks the champion with one-handed trident (1! (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381906)) (14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381906)), one talon (26 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381907)), bite (27 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381908)) and 2 Rakes (14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381909)) (15 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381910)) OMG what crappy rolls!! If Ac27 hits, he deals (6 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381912)) bite damage. If Ac26 hits, he deals (8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381915)) talon damage. Ganime attacks the champion (14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381920)) but rolls crappy aswell. |
| SauroGrenom03-07-06, 08:45 AM | Sorry, for the confusion. My bad. I had thought you wouldn't have LOE to the hidden shark's position to begin with so blindsense would avail you nothing. Also I mis-read the scent ability. I thought it applied only to blood in the water. I can see now that I was wrong about it that. However you shark's ability to communicate to you is rather limited to things like food danger and enemy. I don't think it can tell things like 4 enemies at specific locations.. The little guy cannot seam to hit anything, but you can probably kill it with a single attack. I've been sloppy with the rolls and naming each after the character doing that attack. I'll call all of them Mer-Man now. Again, sorry for getting sloppy with this rule. You're first round was rather sucessfull, but if you'd like to change the actions with the knowlege of the extra shark then I understand and we can do that. Assuming you're fine with this as it is I'll do the next round of actions. Mer-man's bite and talon wound the champion and he retaliates with 4+13 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381994) a missed attack and a second 2+8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381995) miss with his gleaming silver lance. His shark mount also attacks Mer-Man and 8+13 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381996) misses. The small shark attacks Ganime as well 4+7 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=381997) but misses again. You have LOS to a caster at E14 and you can see him leaking blood into the water and wavering as he begins to cast a spell from a scroll. |
| Caterane03-07-06, 09:54 AM | A scroll underwater? Likewise, if the champion has a lance, he has to 5ft step back to where he squeezed which gives me a bonus and him a penalty on attacks. Oh man Sauro, you have to hate me for always objecting. Mer-Man sees the wizard casting again but decides that he should finish the Champion first. Merman 5ft steps forward and powerattacks (-4) the Champion with trident (19 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382026)) (14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382027)), Bite (21 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382028)), Talon (20 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382029)), and Rakes (26 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382030)) (13 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382031)) Note that he should be squeezing. All attacks include PA 4. If Ac26 hits: 11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382032) rake damage If Ac21 hits: 9 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382033) bite damage If Ac20 hits: 11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382035) talon damage If Ac19 hits: 12 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382036) trident damage If Ac14 hits: 14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382037) trident damage The shark attacks aswell (20 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382039)) for 9 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382041) bite damage. |
| SauroGrenom03-07-06, 11:35 AM | I have no problem with a Locathan (underwater creature) having a scroll written on whale skin in some kind of waterproof inks or markings. Also you are mounted on a large creature, and there are two of your squares that are at the proper range for the lance to be used. The champion simply attacks those parts of you that are at the needed distance. I know of nothing that prevents this from being a viable option. Since both you and the Locathan champion are in base contact, the 5' step is unecessary and impossible. The water is clouded by more blood as your bite and rake attacks rend flesh. The champion shows yellow colors as he slips from his mount into square E12. He touches one of his wounds and for a moment the flesh glows with inner light and knits together. His tries to gain cover from his mount for his movement and succeeds (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382055). With a satisfied chuckle you attack him as he moves away and hit (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382058) (barely) causing 13hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382059) damage and the champion's eyes roll back into his head as he falls to the ground bleeding in square D12. I don't think that he would grant an AoO for this movement. At first I thought it would and rolled this set of attacks that you can feel free to use for you next attacks, but since it's only a 5' step I think that I was wrong and it won't provoke. I put in the above section after further consideration. Also I just realized that this hit shouldn't have hit because of the power attack penalty is applied to all attacks and I didn't include it in the above roll. So it won't change the fight at all. However snearing at the cowardice of the "Campion" is cut short by the frenzied attack of his shark mount. The beast attacks (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382063) but misses. The smaller shark also attacks your mount, and misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382064). Finally the caster in the other room finished his chanting and summons a large shark into square C8. The summoned beast attacks you immediately and misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382067). You can see the caster draw a sliver of whale bone from his belt and approach the champion (5' step to E13) and touch the wand to a wound in his chest. The champion is healed (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382069). I am new at this and I'm bound to make a few mistakes so please bare with me. I've tried to make the encounters as challanging as possible at ECL 8 and even so you've torn through them without even a scratch yet. BTW it looks like you are not attacking with your proper BAB. If Mer-man is using a weapon all of his natural attacks are secondary attacks and should take a -2 on the attack roll. Talons are included in this and should attack as secondary natural attacks. Look at the Troll Ranger for an example. Also I noticed that all your attacks claim the high ground +1 advantage, but against the mounted Champion or any large creature (the large sharks) you do not gain that advantage. Before I revoke the bite damage that barely hit last round I'll wait to see if you cant tell me that I've forgotten something. |
| Caterane03-07-06, 02:37 PM | Mer-Man gets angry about the cleric who tries to rob him of his victory! He maneuvers his shark after the locathah so that he bases both him and the cleric, then put a foot on the locatha so that the champion would be at his mercy if he wanted to stand up. But now it was time to end the cleric's misserable existance. Mer-Man's eye began to gleem with an inner strength. A ripple cast waves through the water and a strange mind-dumbing sound came from the sahuagin. Some Gladius souls in the afterlife remember that sound as being the last thing they heard. Merman psi-attacks with his trident 2-handed and PA2 vs Ac (27 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382241)) for 31 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382247) damage. He used Greater Psionic Weapon on that attack. The Shark attacks the cleric if he still stands, else the prone champion. He hits Ac13 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382250) for 7 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382251) damage if it hits. I want to offer a surrender to the champion when the cleric is dead. I need information from him. Alright, whale-skin scratchings then. The higher ground does not come from me being mounted but me moving to a square that is higher than that of the champion. We're fighting in 3D. If the champion wants to gain higher ground he must ascend 10ft which provokes. You're right on the secondary attacks though. According to your description the champion went unconscious for half a round. This means he releases grip of his lance and is prone. He has to stand up and pick up the lance, both a move action that provoke. |
| SauroGrenom03-07-06, 06:35 PM | After a few lines of chat we have some clarifications. The Champion never fell. Also the movement you want is possible and it provokes 3 AoO's from both Large Sharks and from the medium shark as well. Mer-man's movement allows the school of sharks to strike. The champion's shark misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382367), the Summoned Shark misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382368) and the medium shark companion misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382369). Then your trident slays the druid Locathan. The sharks now circle about and surround you. A large shark below you, a large shark above you and a medium shark behind you with the Locathan Champion below and infront of you. The Champion's shark bites at you and misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382373), the Summoned Shark also bites at you and misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382374). Then the medium shark attacks and misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382376) you. The Champion Locathan gasps with awe at the potency of your attack and lashes out with his lance using a smite evil attempt. His attack misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382378). His follow up attack misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382379). I cannot believe that all these attacks are missing. |
| Caterane03-07-06, 07:29 PM | With the cleric dead, Merman turned back on the Champion. He needs no psionic energy against the weakling! Merman retaliates with 2-handed Trident (23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382392)) (23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382393)), Bite (1! (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382397)), and Rakes (20 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382398)) (21 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382399)) If Ac23 hits: 26 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382400) trident damage If Ac21 hits: 4 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382401) rake damage. If Ac20 hits: 6 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=382402) rake damage. As soon as the Champion falls or surrenders, attack the master shark. Ignore the summoned one. Btw, with the Champion now dismounted I will always 5ft step towards him so that he eventually ends up against a wall with his lance. |
| SauroGrenom03-08-06, 10:22 PM | In order to take those 5' steps toward him, you'd have to start squeezing into the tight channel (yes even in 3D). I don't think you'd like to do that. Mer-Man's attacks wound the Champion heavily and streams of blood flow from his many wounds. But by sheer resolve the Locathan still stands and attacks Mer-Man screaming out with furry. His lance misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383294) again and again (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383295). The team of sharks all swarm around you and there attacks rend flesh (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383296) causing 19hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383297) damage. Round 7: Mer-Man full attacks the Champion again and only a rake attack hits (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383298) causing 7hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383299) and the Champion falls unconcious bleeding. Then the swarm of sharks attacks again and the large shark hits (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383301) for 12hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383303) damage. Round 8: Mer-man full attacks the Large shark and his trident hits (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383308) twice as well as his bite. The attacks cause 31hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383308) damage but the creature still lives! The swarm of sharks attacks again. There bits miss (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383315). Round 9: Mer-Man continues his attacks against the Large shark. All his attacks hit (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383316) and tear the creature to pieces with minimum damage. The sharks miss (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383319) and the summoned shark dissapears as the spell that brought it expires. Round 10: Mer-Man rips into the smaller shark (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383322) causing 35hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383324) damage and the creature is incapacitated. The Champion and medium sharks bleed, but are not dead yet. You can do with him as you please. Not bad. You downed a 6th level Locathan Paladin and his 4th level druid buddy. You had some luck, but only took a grand total of 31hp damage. The dice were with you, and next time I'll have to give greater consideration to the 3D arrangement of things. Good luck against the next opponent! |
| Caterane03-09-06, 12:10 PM | Mer-Man uses ride cover (auto-success) vs two of the three hits and only suffers 8 hp total, not 31. He uses his wand to heal 8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383670) hitpoints (1 charge used). Mer-Man is at full health again. Mer-Man searches the cave for additional threats or exits. He didn't believe that it would be so easy. |
| SauroGrenom03-09-06, 02:24 PM | Mer-Man uses ride cover (auto-success) vs two of the three hits and only suffers 8 hp total, not 31. He uses his wand to heal 8 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=383670) hitpoints (1 charge used). Mer-Man is at full health again. Mer-Man searches the cave for additional threats or exits. He didn't believe that it would be so easy. Mer-Man did take 31hp damage because he cannot attack if he's using ride cover in the same round. In the battle above, I assume that you'd prefer to finish off your enemies than to let the battle persist. You can heal all you like with your wand to recover max HP over the next few minutes. After healing your wounds, a quick search reveals no additional exits or threats. Hanging from the belt of the Champion you also find a pouch of the iridescent pearls and the strange brain shaped mind oysters that the PSI Consortium desires. I'll post again when I go home this evening. Then we can get setup for the next encounter. |
| Caterane03-09-06, 08:41 PM | That's not correct Sauro. You just cannot attack the very moment you take the cover, ie AoO. It is in the Rules (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6466576), was clarified by Skip Williams, and has always been handled that way in the coco. I can give you 100 fights as an example. Having found what he was looking for, Mer-Man snorts at the easy task the PSI gave him, and returned back to his home. Perhaps the ghost failed and was already destroyed. Merman found that thought amusing. |
| SauroGrenom03-10-06, 01:39 AM | Learn something new each day. Well that Champion should have been much harder to hit. Live and learn. 31 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=384230) ?? (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=384231) After a few minutes Mer-Man prepaires to leave the cavern and looks up to spot an old wisened Locathan swimming into the cave entrance. In an instant the Old One spots the corpses and the blood and his eyes narrow while a wry smile creaps across his stiff fish lips. I see you've killed them for me... Do you have the pearls? I'll pay handsomely for them. You're trained warrior's skills know that he has readied himself if you take an agressive action. We'll use the same map, and the Old One is at square L7. You can choose your position anywhere you like that's visible from there. |
| Caterane03-10-06, 09:50 AM | Mer-Man eyes the old one warily but resist the urge to rip him to shreds for daring to approach MERMAN without a bow. "What can you offer me for this treasure, old one? Know that I already have an offer so good that made me look for the pearls so you better offer something good." [FYI: There are no ready actions outside combat. If you just described it as flavor, ignore my comment.] |
| SauroGrenom03-10-06, 10:29 AM | The Old One consideres a moment then replies in slippery tones, I offer you gems worth 13000 gold to the surface dwellers. I have a sack of them stashed nearbye. I can also give you a pouch of decoy pearls to sell to your other buyers. Perhaps you will sell the pearls twice? |
| Caterane03-10-06, 11:39 AM | Mer-Man thought about that offer for a while, then just said "Deal! But I want to see the decoy pearls and the money first. Perhaps you want to fool Mer-Man!" |
| SauroGrenom03-10-06, 12:07 PM | The Old One moves to the far alclove of the cave and asks for your help to roll aside a small boulder that lies there. With grunting and pushing you roll the stone to the side and two sacks are revealed. He picks up and ponderously hands the brown one to you. A quick glance reveals that it contains a collection of pearls indistinguishable to your eye from those you have taken from the Champion. The gray bag he empties onto the floor and reveals a collection of five thumb sized uncut sapphires and a large gleaming faceted ruby. He holds out his hand, Give me the sack of pearls I want and I'll leave you with your stones. |
| Caterane03-10-06, 12:47 PM | "Old Fool! I wonder how you lived that long! You are fishfood!" Mer-Man says and strikes at the locathah. Initiative |
| SauroGrenom03-11-06, 11:31 AM | Mer-Man (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385093) acts first. We are setup with Mer-Man in B17 and the Old One in C18 and a small boulder in square B18. Mer-Man's mount is located just outside of the alclove at F16. BTW, I just noticed that Mer-Man has one rank is PsiCraft. This is a cross class skill for a psiwarrior and it is not listed as such on your sheet. It would be a good idea to make sure you payed 2 skill points for that and list it as such. |
| Caterane03-11-06, 02:19 PM | Before the old fool knew what happened, Mer-Man had him by the collar, drew him close and pounces upon him. He madly bit pieces of flesh out of his frail body while his sharp legs raked his lower abdomen to shreds. As if that wasn't overkill enough, the shark didn't want to miss its part of the meal and charged in. Merman doesn't even have a level of Psychic Warrior. He's a Psion. Mer-Man rages/frenzies, flatfooted touch attack (29 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385179)), grapple (24 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385180)), second attack grapple (32 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385182)), rake (29 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385183)), rake (21 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385184)). If grapple 24 succeeds: 12 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385186) damage If grapple 32 succeeds: 12 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385187) damage If Rake FF Ac29 hits: 7 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385188) damage If Rake FF Ac21 hits: 5 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385190) damage We're both grappling now. The Shark charges the locathah vs FF Ac27 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385192) for 10 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385193) damage. |
| SauroGrenom03-11-06, 03:59 PM | Mer-Man gapes in supprise as all his attacks pass throught the Old One. Surely this cannot be a Locathan! Then it begins to manifest a power! You honed combat skills trigger and both you and your shark mount reflexivly lash out at the immaterial creature and your attacks pass through its body. The Old One points at Mer-Man and a ray shoots from his finger to hit (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385252) Mer-Man in the chest. Mer-Man tries but fails (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385253) to avoid the bolt of electricity that results. He reisist the force of the blast but cannot (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=385257) keep his footing. He is blasted back by the force of the attack and hits the wall suffering a total of 31hp damage. With a terse laugh the immaterial creature slips into the stone of the cavern floor its next words echoing in your head. I am older than you can believe, and older than you will ever be. Now you'll suffer for slaying my Locathan adventurers. I hope you are supprised! This incorpreal creature has the assume likeness ability and used it to appear as a Locathan. Mer-man won a will save to read his mind, but it turns out that the creature's disguise was good enough to fool Mer-Man anyway. It was unable to move the stone, but Mer-man is more than strong enough to do it. It also has a minor telekinesis ability and used that to "hand" you the bag of pearls. Also this is why it poured the gems onto the floor. It would have been unable to hold the bag and a gem at the same time. It was expecting to meet with the Locathan's, but finding Mer-man instead among its slain allies it decided to prey on your greed. You may yet fall for the trap he had planned, but we'll discuss that latter if it comes up. Mer-man is now in square C16. I had first thought that you would fall prone when knocked back, but after further reading I guess not. |
| Caterane03-11-06, 04:26 PM | How EVIL of you, Sauro!! That was the nastiest bluff I ever saw. :weep: Blinded by his rage, he could not grasp a clear enough thought to use any of his expendables. KILL was all Merman knew in this state. At least he recognized the incorporality and drew his glaive to deal with it. Better half damage than none. He readied to move into reach should the ghost come back. |
| SauroGrenom03-13-06, 05:16 PM | As discussed, Mer-Man could not have Frenzied at the beginning of the fight. Now that you have taken damage you can choose to frenzy, or abstain from doing that. If you are not frenzied you can freely use potions and oils. Mer-man stands ready with his weapon, and a moment later he see's the Unbodied appear from the ground 40' to the south east. Mer-Man races over to put the Old One into range of his weapon. His planning is rewarded a moment later when the Old One begins to manifest a power and Mer-Man attacks the creature. The Old One's laugh is cut short by mer-man's blade hitting (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386742) in the chest causing 9hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386743) damage. The Old One attempts to maintain concentration and fails (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386745). He stares at Mer-Man gapping as Mer-Man's glaive comes around a second and third time to slash his face. The first blow hits (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386931) for 10hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386932) damage, but the second passes through his form. The Old One moves back a step before manifesting the dreaded Wind Wipe. Mer-Man sees a flash of light and hears the screams of his past fallen enemies floating away from him and he feels the attack assaulting his thoughts. Mer-man resists sucessfully (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386938) and the The Old One marvels at the will power of this warrior. Mer-Man presses his assault with a step closer to his enemy and two slashes of his glaive. The blade strikes true twice (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386939) and the Old One suffers 16hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=386942) damage. The Old One's ectoplasmic form was barely holding together and the outline of his form becoming indistinct and whispy. Withdrawing into the stone floor, his parting words echo in your raging mind. I'll destroy you yet sahuagin. Not today, but I will vet my revenge on your house some day soon. Seconds pass, then minutes and the Old One does not return. You gather together the stones on the floor and pearls. Looks like you won! It was close there, but you had some luck I must say. As an interesting note, I had planned that if you took the payment from the Unbodied, that you'd get a different encounter. One of the stones will attract a sea monster with a magical/psionic resonace. Since you already have had 3 encounters I'll let you decide if you want the 4th. |
| Caterane03-22-06, 12:42 PM | I cannot do another fight - as much as I would - because it would bring me to ECL 11 and I want to participate in the Iron Man. Let's round out the quest by bringing it to an end. Mer-Man laughs at the feeble threats of the old one although he had to admit that this was a very surprising encounter. The unbodied's trick was a cunning and devious one, one that had almost felled the mighty warrior of the sea. It was time to return to his home and see if the halfling ghost was still alive. |
| SauroGrenom03-22-06, 05:02 PM | After the long treck home Mer_Man returns to his great throne room to find the snarky halfling ghost lounging in his throne. The quick little one jumps up on your return; "Ha! You have the pearls! Splendid. Raskos will be most pleased. This Khar Blorblop of yours was a reluctant fellow but after I made a few Angry faces he was much more willing to swear fealty to you. Two of his daughters are here to seal the bargin. " With a wave and chuckle the Halfling indicates two sahuagin females standing near the end of the hall. "Now let's see those pearls Hmm?" BTW, you coud probably take another encounter because you are ECL9 and these are ECL8 opponents. You only earn 5400xp for these three fights. That puts you about middle of the 10th level. |
| Caterane03-22-06, 07:37 PM | Ok why not. Bring it on then! Mer-Man was suddenly more interested in the females than in the ghost but after some prompting he absentmindly threw the pearls towards him without looking. After some moments, he licked his thick fishlips and turned back to Samuel. "HA! And now that I brought the pearls, what good does the Psi Consortium bring Mer-Man?" |
| SauroGrenom03-22-06, 10:17 PM | I had intended for the final encounter to occur on the trip home. But since we are already in your halls, we'll have it just outside or inside if you insist. Well I bring the women ofcourse. Are they not enough for you? Hmm of course not for Mer-Man. There is this as well. The ghost drops a sack of coins that falls to the floor with a thump and jingle. And now I must attend to other business. He stands to leave and then Crash the whole building begins to shake as if struck by a giant! The sound rings in your ears, and then BOOM another blow lands. It's as if the front doors to the hall were being struck by a giant. You see the boards begin to splinter and crack! BOOM! One or two more blows and the door will be down! Your guardsmen all flee! The cowards are shouting about a gargantuan whale gone mad! In two more blows the creature (whatever it is) will be here inside your hall destroying everything! We'll say your hall is 60' wide and 120' long rectangle oriented long dimension north and south on a map. You stand roughly center, and the Ghost Samuel is about 30' to the north of you on the map. Doors are 20' wide and on the south wall. Althought it won't matter much for this battle tacticially, I'll give you a 10% gold reward on this encounter's treature if you can keep the creature from entering your hall. |
| Caterane03-23-06, 07:22 AM | "HARGH!" the sealord jumped up "Another battle?? This is not my day". The loud booms convinced Merman that it was probably better to make sure he wasn't damaged before worrying about his furniture. I need to buff up else it rips me to shreds. Merman buffs with Force screen+4, Defensive precognition+2, Thicken skin+2, and Shield of faith+2 for an AC of 34. |
| SauroGrenom03-23-06, 02:00 PM | Here we go! You took 31 hp damage in the last encounter. I assume that you would have healed that damage before now. So just roll the wand charges needed to regain those HP. As I mentioned you get two rounds before the door comes down. So Force Screen and Defensive Precognition will come up before the door goes down. You have barely enough time to prepare yourself with an invisible field of force and by unlocking the insight of your unconsious before the final blow lands and the door to the chamber is reduced to splinters. The entire entry way is dominated by a Gargantuan Baleen whale that spots Mer-Man. Your trained reflexes allows you to act first (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=394878). At the sight of the beast Samuel quips, "Wow, it's big." Alright you go first and you have 65' to the door. |
| Caterane03-23-06, 03:25 PM | Healing: (14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=394948)) (13 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=394949)) (5 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=394950)) CLW Charges used: 7 Mer-Man is at full health. Mer-Man drinks the potion of SoF and swims backward 55ft on Ganime to the rear wall. He's now 120ft away from the whale. |
| SauroGrenom03-23-06, 11:34 PM | Mer-man takes up his position on the far side of the room, and there he drinks his potion. With a single swipe of its powerfull tail, the whale moves 40' into the room and stops. Then a most unexpected thing happens. A loud psioic hum emanates from the creature as manifests a power! Mer-Man feels the creature is attacking his mind with a Psychic Crush! He instantly reacts by using his empty mind ability and steels his resolve against the debilitating attack. Mer-Man's fierce will is not (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=395494) crushed by the assault although the blow does damage him. (16hp) Surely no whale can train to manifest powers, this must be a Phrenic beast! These powerfull creatures are rare indeed. You wonder what this one is doing here attacking you. You have 75' distance between you now, your turn. Also you have psionic focus. We didn't specificially mention it, but I assume that Mer-Man would regain it as needed. Also there is something that needs GM arbitration in the Phrenic template. One of the entries says "blast" as a power gained at 7hd. Which blast is this? There is concussion blast and psionic blast. One is a 1st level power the other a 3rd level one. I've always thought it was the concussion blast, but you may differ in opinion. |
| Caterane03-24-06, 05:23 AM | Mer-Man manifests thicken skin and prepares for the onslaught. Only luck can save him now against such a superior foe! It's 90% the Psionic Blast. The powers in the list are constantly improving in level. The lower levels are already lvl 2 so the "blast" should be higher. Might not be a good time to make such a decision LOL A Phrenic Whale! The perfect mix of melee superiority and psionic might. Your encounters are really tough! |
| SauroGrenom03-24-06, 09:30 AM | Yea I know they're tough, but I told you they'd be and they are all in the quest submitted to scribelords. I had also originially planned for this encounter instead of the one with the Unbodied. But you took the gems and they are the trigger to attract this beast. Keep in mind we're talking about MERMAN here, and he is the gladiator with the highest power ratting in all of gladius! He should be eating whale tonight. Besides I thought the best strategy for Mer-Man was to do this battle outside where your movement advantage would be usable, but you didn't take the bait. Also as it turns out that one psychic crush was the ace in the hole. Mer-man's will save is so good that it's unlikely that any of the offensive phrenic powers will hurt him. Your decision to make it Psionic Blast instead of concussion blast makes that power a will save, and mer-man is basicially immune with a +15 will modifier after all his buffs and emptymind. It's tremendous eye the size of your head glares at you as you use your powers to thicken your skin. It charges and attempts to whip you with its tremendous tail. The force of the attack is great, but mer-maneasily (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=395677) avoids the tail as large as himself. |
| Caterane03-27-06, 08:33 AM | Mer-Man knew he had to face the whale. How great his reputation will be after having defeated such a foe! Trident (18, 17 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=398102)) for 17 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=398104) dam plus 13 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=398105) psionic weapon damage. Other attacks (19, 12, 22, 15 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=398106)) = 2 hits for 12 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=398107) damage. The shark fumbles (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=398108). Altogether 42 damage. |
| SauroGrenom03-27-06, 09:32 PM | The great whale moves back away from Mer-Man just out of his reach, then manifests a power with an auditory display. Mer-Man cannot (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=398979) recognize the power when it is manifest by such a strange creature. |
| Caterane03-28-06, 03:59 AM | When the whale moved back, Mer-Man took the AoO, then healed some of his wounds. AoO 23 for 9 dam (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=399315). He then uses Cure light wounds to heal 6 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=399323) damage. He telepathically informs the shark that he should ready to move away when the shark comes close. |
| SauroGrenom03-28-06, 09:19 AM | I ment for your opponent to take a 5' step. I was trying to convey that with the "Just out of his reach" comment. I doesn't make sense to say that a whale takes a 5' step ("Steps" with what appendage?), so I was trying to convey that with a more appropreat description. Since you're wielding the trident the whale only needs to take a 5' step to get out of your threatined area. Thus no AoO. You can keep the roll and use it in an attack if you like. I also assume that you'd rather do something else than heal since you are still inside of its threatined area (15' reach). |
| Caterane03-28-06, 09:44 AM | Mer-Man sees the manifesting as a sign of weakness. The whale is surely on the brink of death! Ok, I misunderstood it then. Here are my actions for that round: Trident 1: Ac23 for 9 damage (see last post) Trident 2: Ac23 for 9 damage (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=399530) Bite/Talon/2Rakes: (20!, 16, 23, 21 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=399530)) critical threat (23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=399533)) confirmed. Damage: 28 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=399535). Shark fumbles (1! (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=399536)) again. Total Damage: 46 |
| SauroGrenom03-28-06, 11:53 PM | Mer-man's talon and one of his rake attacks are deflected by some kind of force screen around the whale. It responds to your assault with a tail slap of its own but the blow does not (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400342) connect. Mer-Man senses the weakenss of the whale and presses the attack. His trident is twice deflected 19,14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400343). But his teeth and talons bite flesh 26,28,28,21 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400348) causing 21hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400349) damage. His shark mount bites 25 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400350) for 11hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400353) damage. With an odd shudder the whale moves back in a moment to a position just beyond your reach as before. Then the whale manifests (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400355) another power and merman witnesses the wounds he just caused knitting together again. With renewed fervor Mer-Man continues his assault. His trident is again deflected 16,20 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400356). He continues with tooth and claw to hit 27,18,19,17 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400357) with a talon causing 7hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400358) damage. His shark bites for 9hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400359) damage. The whale attempts to slap merman, but fails (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400360). Mer-Man closes for what he hopes to be the final blows... His trident strikes twice cutting into whale flesh 27,22 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400362) and causing 26hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400364) damage. He continues to bite and slash with claws and his bite (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400365) penetrates the force screen causing 4hp (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400366) damage. His shark's bite misses (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400368). The deep ocean monster makes a final attempt to stop mer-man by stepping back and manifesting the dreaded mindthrust agains him. Mer-man feels the assalut comming and prepares himself with the emptymind power he barely resists (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400379) the assault and feels very angry. He stabs (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=400382) the whale repeatedly with his trident. (minimum damage kills it) The waters swim with blood as Mer-Man rends the flesh of his opponent. He checks himself and discovers that he was never once touched by the whale. |
| Caterane03-29-06, 03:07 AM | After the applause he got from his servants and visitors, he swam over to Samuel, his fist stemming in his sides and just saying "You have seen the power of Mer-Man. I hope for you and your guild that the Psi Consortium is worth my time! Until then, we have an alliance." |
| SauroGrenom03-29-06, 08:25 AM | Yes. You handled that sea-monster very well. I suspect that Raskos will like to meet with you some day soon. Till then, enjoy your winnings. Samuel waves to the bag of loot he left behind and falls into the floor and is gone from site. |
