Long had Dameon Leonne wondered what had become of his brother Trent. It felt almost natural, though, that they were not together… the tendencies of fate in this realm seemed to create circumstances that kept them constantly divided. It had been quite some time since Dameon had seen Trent, and at the same time he remembered that face clear as day.

He had come to Gladius hoping to grow as a person, and to broaden his studies of the divine, the arcane, and the mind. An eclectic, he enjoyed socializing with all kinds of life…

Dameon strode into a well-known tavern that had once been the site of many a challenge for gladiators as they boasted of their prowess, making constant attempts to out-posture each other. Surprisingly, he did not immediately recognize anyone within, but it was rather early in the day, before noon, which would be when most patrons would come. The bartender was wiping off of the counter with his handkerchief, a sort of meaningless act, as his kerchief was rather dirty, as most kerchiefs usually are. The only other known patron is a robed man looking over some pairings, wearing the green and black robes of a pitlord. There are very soft periodical random noises coming from under a table around the middle of the room, as well as a trickle of some brightly glowing blue liquid seeping along the cracks in floor, filling the inconsistent ridges of the woodwork in a contour pattern…

You’re on. Quest is now live! :)

I'll be using Sienna as my color.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpg Geez Luken, right when I come and find you you leave, and now I can't even find Trent .... he was supposed to meet me here so all of us could get Nell and that **** 'step-father' of ours... but I guess that'll have to wait... I need to get stronger until then. Dameon thought, as he eldest-step brother never was the type to say in anyplace too long.

He sighed and walked up to the bartender, "Hey, there, how's it going? Can I get a pitcher of water and a glass?"

The bartender nodded silently, taking out a glass, but opened his mouth as he got the water, "Funny you should ask that, kid, a fellow just now who always drinks just plain water was in here not too long ago, so give me a minute while I refill the pitcher."

Dameon nodded, not really caring, but then he felt a strong psionic force enter through the door, and a cloaked figure walked in. Dameon turned to look at the hooded figure and was surprised to see it make a beeline directly for him. The figure was shorter than him, but Dameon somehow felt something familiar about the individual.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Rook5.gif"I knew you'd come around here, and so I made sure to drink the pitcher dry to hold you up long enough for me to step out and come back."

"Wha...? Who are you?"

"Heh, never the brightest one, but always the intuitive one," and the cloaked figure pulled back his shawl to reveal the face and figure of Rook Devange!

"Rook! Long time no see! I didn't expect you to be here!"

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Rook1.jpg "What are you talking about? Of course I'd be here, Luken and I were the one's battling Nell last. If you'd recall, I was the one who placed him under the stone curse."

"Well, if Trent and I were there, we would have all finished him off, once and for all."

"Well, that's still the plan... we all want a piece of him."

"Yeah... but hey, what have you been doing the meantime? You seemed to have recouped a lot of your strength, but I remember you being a lot stronger, old man."

"Old--! As aged as I am, you're still 2 years --"

"1 year, 10 months."

"1 year and 10 months younger than me! I'm afraid I don't have bizarre regenerative genes that make me look like a 21 year old human, or gain absurd longevity, or grant me the ability to morph my figure... not like you or Luken."

"How is he?"

"Saying he's 'fine' is inaccurate, but he is alive. Recently he's taken his atonement to an extreme and now serves the greater good. Right now he's off diving in the efforts of an extraplanar battle against evil... It'll do him good, I imagine, if he lives, of course."

"He'll live, I know he will. "

"Me too.... but where is Trent? I imagine the reunion of the four brothers Leonne would be incomplete without him."

"That's what I'm here to find out. He was supposed to come here and meet me and Luken, but he's far too late and I don't even have a clue where he could have disappeared to. No way he could have died though...."

"I doubt it, as the rest of you would have sensed it."

"Yeah..."

"Shame I don't have an article of his. Otherwise I could open the Third Eye and divine his location with ease.... but now is not the time to wish for easy impossibilities."

"No... but do you think you an still help me out?"

Rook thought for a minute, but then shook his head, "No, that won't be necessary. You're well enough to look for him yourself, and while you ar eout, I am keeping a hawk-eye out for Nell. He's here, in this city, if you didn't know. And I plan to catch him the moment he shows his face. The problem is he's so good at hiding I need to keep a eye out always." Rook got up and turned to leave, as the bartender came back with a pitcher of water.

"You're right, I can do this myself... I trust you'll tell us when you spot Nell?"

"Naturally... I'll see you around." and with that the elven psymage left.

Nell turned back and poured himself a glass of reletively drinkable water and gulped it down. At this moment he noted the liquid on the floor and looked to the bartender, "Oi, what's that stuff seeping through the floor down there. Doesn't look healthy, ya know?

The bartender nods to Rook as he leaves, obviously having great respect for Devange. He now looks to Dameon just as respectfully, seeing that the two are obviously close.
"That's me Glo-Potion! Me brother's a wizard, I'm a brewer. We've been making swell business putting together potent or casual brews and enchanting them with various effects. The particular one down there makes the drinker glow very brightly for a while... Odd thing is, I haven't sold one since last night to a little bug fellow... I never did see where that little chum got off to... I don't suppose you could check that mess out down there?" the bartender chuckles to himself... perhaps he has had this problem in the past...

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon looked at the water he just dranks, wondering if any trace amounts of the glow potion were inside, and that he might glow at any moment. "Well, if you'll give me the drink on the house I'll do it. I can't say I'm to keen on playing clean-up for free, ya know?"
Sindorin

10-06-05, 04:19 PM
The bartender laughs heartily. "Of course! A simple pitcher of water never troubled this establishment!"

A noise can be heard coming from the neon blue trickle running from under the table.

As Dameon approaches the burping table, a <twang> sound is heard "Ugh... from outside...". Dameon whirls around to see the bartender clutching a crossbow bolt in his neck. He collapses just as Dameon realizes what has happened.

Sorry for the delay. I was out my usual Thursdays, but found Internet problems upon return.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpg "Yeah, Pops, I goin-AH!?" Dameon exclaimed, as he whirled about in response to the bartender recieving a shot in the back. "Holy crap, pops, you all right!?" He said, as he dashed over to the fallen barkeep. He plucked the bolt out of his neck and checked the man's vitals, hoping for a pulse or weak breath.

Good lord, who would shoot the bartender? He thought, I dunno who they are, but I'm gonna get a piece of their hide... He glared in the direction the barkeep indicated and hoped to see anything.

Out the door a cloaked figure with a very nasty looking crossbow stands in firing position. A puff of smoke is floating from a cigar that protrudes from the cowl. Some dark-looking hound sits next to him as if at attention, at the ready, prepared to strike if given the word, and perhaps to keep a lookout. He remains silent as Dameon glares at him, but the hound's ears perk up attentively...

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpg"And your reason for killing the bartender of the most popular tavern in town? " Dameon questioned, as he slowly stood up and faced the man, his hand inching towards his bow. Dameon then noted the dog's ears perk up and decided to be attentive now, as well. He focused on the situation at hand, and pulled deep his multi-faceted inner awareness to grab a hold of his surroundings.

Draw Bow. Listen and Spot, if I can, to note anything. (I would roll them myself, but I don't know what you want the ID of this Quest to be )

The hooded figure puffs his cigar quietly.
"He didn't pay his dues, so the piper has come."
The figure proceeds to put away his crossbow, eyeing Dameon curiously. The dog next to him whimpers. "No, Scoundrel, this man does not owe the guild money. Sir, if you would stand aside please, I must collect dues..."
The cloaked figure begins moving toward the tavern, approaching Dameon... drawing his rapier tentatively, though the look upon his face remains unseen.

Make rolls at Invisible Castle under the name Persistent_Cliche.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon thought about the unfortunate incident that just transpaired, but had to admit it would be foolhardy of him to just jump in and do anything rash. After all, perhaps there was business between the men and Dameon would be in the wrong for interfering. Regardless, it was a matter between strangers, so he begrudgedly let it go. Something sparked in his mind, however. "Tell me something," Dameon started, obliging the man and sidestepping over, "What guild are you of? I am interested to know... also, though this may seem out of the blue... have you heard of a man named Nell Leonne? "

Spot: 19. Listen: 17 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=164203) +2 to both if the man is human.
Sindorin

10-11-05, 12:02 PM
The man stops in mid-step at the mention of Nell Leonne. His cigar wobbles up and down slightly.
"Maybe. Why do you ask?"
Huan

10-11-05, 08:53 PM
Daemon shifted in place, his face suddenly becomming serious, "Where is he?... I'm his 'brother'" And even he had difficulty saying that last part. They were only brothers by the same mother, not in any friendly sense.
Sindorin

10-11-05, 09:30 PM
"Hahahaha, I have heard of this... brotherly love... between the brothers Leonne. Nell sends his regards." The cloaked man laughs heartily again. "If you plan on snooping in his business, you are messing with the East Habari, and I will likely have to do my duty to whom I am indentured... or you can go in there and procure the dues owed to us for the protection we offer instead."
Huan

10-12-05, 12:36 AM
Dameon's eyes flashed, and, as if he had suddenly matured a decade, glared at the man unwaveringly. "I... am not moving... and you.. .are not going anywhere until you've told me everything you know about this 'East Habari' and Nell."

He raised his bow, took out an arrow, and pointed it at the man, "Start talking. You're working alongside Nell.... and for that, I know you must be a despisable person."
Sindorin

10-12-05, 12:57 AM
the cigar hanging out the side of the man's mouth jiggled slightly yet again, and bits of ash fluttered in the wind of the now abandoned street. Dameon's comments obviously flatter the cloaked man.
"That's not what I have been sent here for. I have been sent here to collect dues. Give me the dues, then maybe we'll talk space and time..."
Huan

10-12-05, 04:58 PM
Dameon thought about the possible trade here. If he let this man get the dues, then he might gain information from a good lead concerning his quarry, Nell. On the other hand, there was no guarantee of cooperation or honesty, and letting this man complete his assignment was helping his orgnaization, which would indirectly help Nell... which he would not allow. Besides, he at least had a name to work with now. Thus the decision became clear, "You're not getting anything," he said coldly, as with a snap of the wrist he brought his bow up, and not half a second later he sent an arrow flying in the direction of the murderer. Pops, this one is for you, he thought, pouring forth all the archery training he received from Luken into this vindictive arrow.

Dameon will refuse the offer and fire an arrow, Attack: 16 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=165012) (11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=165016) dmg) (+1 attack/dmg if he was the blue dot, +2 dmg if he's human)
Sindorin

10-12-05, 05:56 PM
The arrow flies true, looking to embed itself within the folds of the torso of the man's cloak... but suddenly the man raises his left hand and the arrow hits it, shattering the arrow, fletchings fly like confetti, littering the cowl of the cloak, and dancing among the trail of smoke rising from the nearly expired cigar. The man spits it out, sending bits of ash everywhere as the cigar hits the ground and seems to explode, but it is masterfully contained as the booted foot slams down on top if it, extinguishing what life was left of the rolled death. His hand drips with the blood oozing out of the open cuts and splinters wedged within. The bolt had destroyed tendons going into his wrist, rendering his off hand useless. Had he been completely ready for the attack, he would easily have been able to block the blow more effectively. The inherent pain can be seen by the way his white teeth clench in obvious pain.

He lowers his hand, smiling now that his mouth has been set free, two red eyes glow menacingly from beneath the cowl of the cloak. In slow motion he lowers his cowl with the hand he deflected the arrow with, two drops of blood are splattered from his cut palm to bathe in the shocking white hair of the drow now revealed from beneath the dark cloth. He licks his palm, savoring the taste of the iron in his own crimson life.
"So you want a taste, do you?"

With that, the drow springs forth, his rapier glinting in the setting daylight as he thrusts it at Dameon's chest, and as Dameon attempts to dodge the thrust he is caught in the leg as the drow leans down with the tip of the blade. His dog also moves in to attack as his master deflects the arrow shot at himself. The dog bites at Dameon, but Dameon dodges its jaws.

This nicotine-loving dark elf sure knew his dualing well, and Dameon knew he was fighting a seasoned warrior. He shifted his weight to his good leg and used that to ram his armor-spiked shoulder into the cloaked assailant. He howled out to his inner dragon blood, empowering his blow with the raw might nested deep within his blood, and hoped his blitz struck true. But, keeping the principal of mobility intact, he spun after the rush and gritted his teeth as he nimbly used both his legs to somersault away and back to his feet again. As he stood, he hand grabbed the polearm to his side and drew it so that now the jack-of-all trades threatened a wide melee area. As he counter-balanced the large weapon, he spun the polearm in place rapidly before halting it with the bladed end aimed firmly at the drow. Daring the smoker to come closer, Dameon glared back with narrowed eyes.

Dameon takes a hand off the bow, attacks with Divine Might Armor Spike: Attack 23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=166045) (10 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=166046) dmg), and then tumbles downward (on the map) 15 ft while stowing Bow/drawing Glaive. Tumble: 23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=166044). Take any AoOs that the drow may provoke (otherwise, take any on the dog).

"Agh!"
The drow screams in pain as the spike impales him through the shoulder. Dameon pauses in the middle of the scream, his eyes shift to the side, and he pulls back just as quickly, nimbly rolling away and coming up away from the drow and his companion out of their threat range. The drow clutched his ruined off hand to the gaping hole above his arm.
"I think this is the end of the road, Sparky..." the dog whimpers, looking from Dameon to Smoker, back to Dameon, deciding that it may be best to listen to his master and not be killed himself.

He drops his rapier, it clatters loudly on the cobblestone street. His dog can do nothing for its master's wound, but the wound is not lethal... yet. He slides down the wall of the tavern to a slouching sitting position, leaving a smear of blood where the spike came out the other side. Habitually, his left hand, now free of the elegant sword's handle, reaches into a pouch and pulls out a rolled cigar. This he sticks in his mouth, and then gropes around his pockets for a moment...

"I beg your pardon... but... do you have a light?"

Dameon knelt down as he nodded his head. Snapping his fingers, the tip of his index finger lit afire with a small flame, barley an inch high. He slowly hovered the flame below the cigar and decided to add, "Ya know, those things'll kill ya.... Now, please, tell me everything you know."

Dameon casts Prestidigitation and obliges the drow. (If he had two cigars in his mouth at once, then it would be funny ;) )
Sindorin

10-14-05, 12:40 AM
The drow, breathing heavily, accepts the magic flame as he leans his face close so the end of the cigar catches. He pauses a moment, wincing, remembering exactly what has transpired as if he had forgotten momentarily due to his addiction to the Underleaf.

"They weren't really dues I was after," he speaks with effort. "Though yes, my mistress is in the East Habari, and I have met this brother of yours," *cough* "He has been waiting... for what, I am unsure. But he waits. That is all that I know about your brother. I was runnin' an errand here to fetch payment for some components a wizard that runs this here tavern needed... didn't expect anyone here this early..."

At this point, Dameon realizes that either the author has severely messed up his anachrology, or this day has passed very quickly. Dameon arrived at the tavern this morning, met with Rook ever so briefly, and then this fiasco occurred with Smoker and Sparky. The sun's phase appears to be dusking, and all is quiet...

"Uh oh... she comes," the drow's glossy red eyes reflect the dusk in an ironic way, his red eyes are white as they reflect the red dusk, the same color as his dying soul.
A slender figure comes flying over the rooftop of the tavern and lands across the street a few yards away from them. She looks at Smoker, his wound, and then at Dameon. Even in the darkening mystery of this day Dameon can make out the form and features of a beautiful elvish woman with dark hair covering part of her face, her age undiscernable.
Her features are very pure, her skin smooth as silk, yet there is a dark recess within the brief glint of her eyes during the slight moment he makes eye contact with her. This brief glimpse into the darkness that is this woman's soul makes Dameon very uncomfortable, an obvious sign of this woman's power.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Varia1.jpg

She speaks in a voice that reflects the contagion present in her soul, the broken heart sundered repeatedly over the course of an age. Her voice sounds confused, inquisitive, and curious.
"What have you done to my Smokey?"

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon looked from 'Smokey' to the lady, and then back again before sighing resignedly. He took his time standing up fully before answering back, "Lady, all I know is I came here to get a drink of water...the next thing I know trouble is falling in my lap, and right now I don't even know what's going on....What's your story?" As he talked he pulled out his minor healing wand and healed the injury on his leg with a neat flick of its magical head.

Dameon takes out and casts CLW from Wand (+9 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=166351) HP).

The woman looks as if she is spaced out in some random direction as she speaks. "My story? None ever care to hear it... except Smokey... OH, you mean why I am here! I told my Smokey to go get money from the wizard who runs this tavern because he needed some components for me... but this was two weeks ago... I guess they wouldn't pay him. Odd. Oh well. It looks like my wittle Smokey has gotten himself into trouble now. Oh well. I don't suppose you found what they did with my spell components?"
She seems to ramble on and on, though as she does, Dameon recalls moments ago when he was in the tavern and nothing bad or unpredictable had happened, save for meeting Rook in such a random place as this - though there evidently had been a large amount of that Glo Potion consumed by one of the patrons...

<BURP!!!>

The woman now snaps to alertness, looking around and peering past Dameon through the door of the tavern.
"What was that?!"

Sorry for the slow respose ... it was a high-test week.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon looked at the strange lady, almost certain she too was part of the same organization as 'Smokey', but given her inherent power and eccentric natue, Dameon felt it best to watch his step. However, once she questioned something out of Dameon's view, the dragon-blooded shifter moved back into the bar to see what was the matter. He saw the Glo Potion still about, and looked back to the still body of the bartender. Geez, old man ... what did you make?

Dameon will take a look around and react from there.

The woman looks disgustedly at Dameon. "I don't suppose you are going to excuse yourself for that awful... never mind," she says after she concludes that the burping sound is coming from Dameon himself. "Smokey dear, if you are going to keep getting in scrapes such as this, I am going to find myself a new playmate. If you find the ingredients I sent you to search for, you may come back to me. Otherwise, I wish not to see you again... I need a man that can hold his own and not get impaled by some handsome and strong man such has this fellow here... bye bye for now!"

And with that, she flies off in the direction from which she came, leaving a very messed up Smoker leaning against the tavern wall, the door wide open, and the bartender dead slumped over the counter...

A small creature walks to stand in the open doorway.
"Uh oh!" The figure looks to be a dromite, with elegantly formed chitin plates as his natural armor, and it wears dark blue robes. The interesting thing about the little creature is that its chitinous skin is glowing faintly blue...
Sindorin

Amidst all of this confusion, the dromite who had been under the table, and obviously had drunk all of the glo-potion, chose now to sober up, evidently.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/ickis.gif

"My name is Cliche Ferech! I heard that you were searching for someone! I have heard of your brother, Nell, and I have seen him in action in the arena, and in other places! If you seek him, you undoubtedly know of course how dangerous the man is, and who he consorts with as well! It would probably not be a good idea to go after him head on, but instead to prepare yourself better for the dark times ahead, as a Guild War feels like it shall begin soon! I know of a place where there are special gauntlets hidden away! I believe these would help you when the time to face him whom you seek! I haven't been able to get them because I am not tall enough, but you look like you would not have a problem reaching them! Would you care to help me out!? You could keep the gauntlets, because I think you would put them to better use than I would!
How about it!?"

The little dromite seems to ramble on and on as a child would, but Dameon can tell he is sincere.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon yelled in surpise. "Ahhhh! Holy crap you surprised me!" But then as the curious little creature began to talk with almost no pauses or breathes in between words or sentences, he began to relax and almost laugh out loud. "Hah hah, all right, seeing as you cleaned up my previous assignment ... I'll help you out. And yeah, I;ve heard of these upcoming Guilds... not sure what ot make of them quite yet. I suppose if the benefit plan is well enough I might join one. Not sure where a technicolor guy like myself could fit in though." He took one last look at the bartender, "Relax pops... the Nimbus'll take care of you soon enough ... take care."

I was going to say Ahh! Real Monsters, but I did not want to sound too pun-ish. ;)

Sadly, Ickis is the closest thing that I can find to a dromite without copying straight out of the xphb, something I would rather not do. You won't have to worry about Cliche suddenly quadrupling his size and scaring little kids, however.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/ickis.gif

"Sorry I scared you! Let's go!"
And with that, the odd duo of the shifter and the dromite set off... with the dromite in the lead, skating along the ground ahead. After a bit of travelling along the road, Dameon notices that the subtle mist that surrounds the bounds of Gladius is no longer present, an appropriate cause for anxiety or discomfort.

Cliche continues scurrying on along the road until he comes to what appears to be a tomb built into the side of a hill. There are two figures standing outside it. One appears to be a halfling, and he is sharpening a knife. The other is a stout figure who is sitting on one of the rocks writing on some parchment, or so it seems.

At their approach, the halfling sets down the sharpening stone, stands up, and speaks "Hey Crom, look at that pair," and the dwarf stops writing and looks up. He mutters something to himself frustratedly and puts away the parchment he was writing on, and then stands up...

We were trying to recover the gauntlets, as they would make a swell addition to our displays at the museum, as well as for our research upstairs... recently, however, we've run into some trouble, there is a restless spirit in there that has awakened... and it is... angry... Still, there was a tangible prize here, he could help these people and and he did not wish to be haunted by any given event. "Sure, I'll do it ... just tell me where to go and what I can expect. Why is the spirit angry, though? Are we stealing from it?"

Nah, don't sweat it.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon rushed forward, picking up speed with every step. With every step he hoped harder and harder this would not be a large mistake, that it would help him, the ghost, and the personal missions he was devoting himself to. In mid-rush he leapt up high, his glaive held above his head with both hands gripped firmly on his weapon. As he felt the wind rush past his ear on his descent down he drove down the polearm hard upon its target. He nearly shut his eyes against the assault, but kept them open wide enough to be aware of whether he scored a vital hit for not. Closer to the ghost now, he felt its chill and it rattled him internally, forcibly making him remember all of the bad memories of his past. He did not think it was the honorable warrior's intention... [Dameon advances 30 ft and attacks, Attack (miss chance passed (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=174508)) 14. Dameon and the ghost trade blows repeatedly... Dameon grits his teeth in frustration each time the head of his glaive passes harmlessly through the ghost's armor and frame, as the ghost's initial blow left quite a bloody impression. Growing deperate, both of them continued the dance, consumed by their adrenaline wrought furies. Metal blade met metal haft, blocking sharp head, parrying each thrust, though some were simply ignored as they passed harmlessly through the ghost's body.
Dameon found he was able to score a hit, sending the ghost flying through a pillar. The end of the glaive wobbled, echoing in the sudden silence at the battle's tentative rest... Dameon crept over to where the ghost floated, prone, paying homage to the fallen spirit, hoping that the ghost would be able to pass on now that he was defeated... Suddenly an armored arm swung out from within the pillar, its blade attempting to penetrate the barrier of force that surrounded Dameon. Dameon turned, as if in slow-motion, his reaction to turn and jump away from the sword. The illuminous body that lay on the ground faded away, leaving a scant pile of dust, a trick of the undead that Dameon's inertial barrier had thwarted. Dameon laid a counter blow down into the back of the ghostly warrior, hoping he could end both their torments before this spectre could do too much harm... The ghost's next sweep sent Dameon's glaive spiraling away across the room. As Dameon attempted to retrieve it, the ghost swung thrice, determined not to let Dameon get the glaive back. All three times, the sword came to bear against the inertial barrier that had become Dameon's livelihood.

Dameon frantically scooped up the long pole arm, and suddenly he was knocked into the pillar, breaking it into several chunks of rock instead of passing through like the ghost apparently had. There was laughter coming from all sides, suddenly, as a hundred or more luminous shades appeared laughing, amused at their evident leader's fury, a fury that had perhaps not been awakened for a thousand years. They clapped a tumultous and spine-tingling clatter as their ethereal bones echoed against each other, obviously trying to unnerve Dameon. As the ghostly knight's sword was about to come crashing down, Dameon thrust the head of his pole arm forward, felt it connect instead of pass through, and the blade, poised in the air, preparing to come perhaps to deliver yet another breathstealing blow, fell from those shadowy opaque hands and clattered to the floor. The ghost fell from where it was impaled upon the end of the glaive, breathing heavily...

There was a loud cheer for the victor from the crowd that closed in around him as he stood now over the fallen ghost.

By doing what many could not you have released me, and should I persist in this world or the next, our services shall be yours should you come to know true darkness...
The ghost's final words echo in Dameon's mind as his armor and body fade away to the Ethereal plane, and then a chilling exhaling of breath is heard, and the sickly pale green ghosts all around all bow their heads and moan...

They stop moaning and resume their positions at attention. One of them steps forth, and bows to Dameon.
"We were the loyal servants of Aoth the Achos, Protector of these lands over two ages ago... As he said before he passed on, we shall serve you should true darkness come to know you. This is our purpose for persisting from hence forth, and thus should you need us, we will know... The gauntlets that you seek are on a pedestal that is at the end of this room... and you shall also have his sword, the Achos'myr. This will be the sign that we shall avenge our great leader by our service to you in your time of need... Until we meet again, Dameon Leonne..."

And with that, all of the surrounding ghosts fade away, their essences seem to whirl around the room at an incredible speed, and eventually the swirling aether draws itself into the blade of the sword that lay upon the ground at Dameon's feet. Dameon picks up the sword and stows it in cloth. He then approaches the end of the room opposite from the entrance, where there appears to be a stone altar that appears to be a burial casing that was covered in shadow until Dameon was told it was there. The gauntlets he is in search of lay upon the altar...

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDemeon, sweating and breathing hard after the touch with Death and one of its own, leaned on his glaive as he dared to count the number of fractures along his entire body. He would live.. he had to.

"Aoth the Achos," he repeated, sensing importance and prestige with that name, as if it werethe name of a king. He made a point to look it up later, but for the time being he leaned against the rubble caused through his involuntary collision though solid stone. "Oi... knocked me for a loop. I look forward to seeing you again, noble warrior," he murmered, channeling sincere divine prayer into the ghost's departure.

He looked ahead, once his divine prayers had re-invogorated him, and saw the pathway ahead. "The pained servants of the king.. his blade, Achos'myr," he said to himself. He thought about this, and it reminded him of his own troubles. Eager for revenge and a chance to make a true difference himself, Dameon could understand their plight, and thus held sympathy and acceptance for their offer. "I will take this service with honor," he affirmed, "For the king ... for us ... may we strike against the darkness." He slashed the air horzontally before him, getting a firm feel for the Achos'myr. He then returns it reverently to a binding in cloth and stowed it on his back. I doubt my self-worth for the blade of a hero, he thought to himself, as he walked forward towards the guantlets and reached cautiously for them...

Dameon picks up the gauntlets, hoping to himself that they aren't trapped. They are not, as he is able to pick both of them up. They do not weigh as heavily as gauntlets, which is odd considering their appearance. When Dameon puts them on, he is surprised at the difference when he now moves his fingers. Picking up the Aoth'myr, he also can feel that he has more control over the blade's destination, though he is not quite sure that this would make much of a difference in battle.

Exiting the crypt, he sees that the two from the museum have built a campfire and are cooking an evening meal. They both look over at him as he comes through the door, covered in dust and cobwebs from the aerial trips he took.
"What was all that racket down there? Is the spirit gone? Did you find the treasure?"

When Dameon doesn't respond right away, the halfling gets up.
"Ah, you recognized me, eh? Very well then, I suppose there is no way that you are going to simply hand over all your valuables, including those gloves you found down there..."

The halfling draws his rapier.

I'm sorry but I can't afford to have this quest continue like this. If you don't respond within the next day or so I am aborting this. When you do respond, respond with a tactical post against two adversaries, the halfling with a rapier, and the dwarf he is camping with. Again, I'm sorry, but this is rather silly.

My apologies. I've been out all weekend. It is rather bad of me to be ruining this for you. Sorry again. Please don't abort. :(

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon looked up in surprise. "Oh? So you're not an archaologist for the museum? What of Cliche and the others? Was all this just a ruse?"

He looked over the halfling and noted the dwarf beside him. "Lovely. Both of you ... At least that answers my question somewhat."

He took a firm stance. "You know what? This just hasn't been my day for doing people favors ... whenever I try to do something nice, somethign bad seems to happen. I come for a drink, and my bartender get shot. I get asked to do a simple clean-up, and this guy from a crook organization my brother's part of tries to kill me. I meet this cray lady, then Cliche, then you goons.. I try to do you guys a favor to help everyone, and I end up having to fight this ghost. I meet the ghost and he's a nice guy, but I gotta do him the favor of sending him to the afterlife ... which almost kills me too... and now I gotta deal with you guys.... Yep, just not my day, ya know?"

He graspd the hilt of Aoth'myr. If destiny has a hand in any of this ... now is the time to find out, he thought, drawing forth the blade and holding it on edge to the two of them. He lowered the tip of the blade down and slowly scraped a line down on the floor. He then stepped back and looked seriously at either of them. "I'm warning you ... you tread up on the honor of Aoth the Achos and his land. He once protected them from those of wicked heart ... you know, the kind you seem to be ... and I will uphold that tradition this final time, for his sake. Cross that line, and it will be over for you... so turn back NOW." As he said this he emphasized the last command, hoping the vertically-challenged duo might release their holistic greed. He also fired up a powerful psionic aura around him, increasing his emanance, and openly displayign his determination.

I'll be around to post, but you can NPC me as I will start with these buffs: Start by adjusting away from danger, drawing/casting Divine Favor, then adjusting/drawing/manifest Animal Affinity, and applying it to Intelligence. Next, adjust away from danger/threatened area, and draw/cast Alter Self into the form of a Minor Zorn (Small Size (+1 Size to Attack/AC), +12 Natural Armor, Base speed 20, Burrow speed 20, Bite (2d8), 3 Claws (1d3), +4 to Spot and Search, All Around Vision). Meld my armor in the new form and my weapons. Then attack the closest foe with Charmed (+4 Cha for 1 minute) Divine Might (+5 dmg for 1 turn attempt). For RP, Dameon does not actualy change shape, but rather manifest shinging golden armor onto himself.

It's all good... I was just panicking, like I always do :)

"Heh, we all have bad days now and then... That little bugger ran away once he figured out that all we planned to do was rob you fools once you had gotten the treasure out of the tomb. In a world such as this, you can't trust anyone. Let this be your reminder..." The halfling speaks to Dameon as if he actually intends on teaching a lesson, though it does not matter, as by this point Dameon is too angry to care. Gold magical armor appears as he prepares to battle once again. The dwarf and the halfling look bewildered, the Aoth'myr seems to be... laughing... a creepy sound comes from within the sword, and then subsides, leaving an even more eerie silence as Dameon walks towards the halfling, whose rapier quivers as it is pointed toward the shifter. As Dameon approaches, the halfling reacts just in the nick of time, feinting to try to throw Dameon off-balance. Instead, he finds his back turned to Dameon himself, and swings back wildly, desperately at the imposing figure, and completely misses. Dameon slashes the halfling brutally, but does not hit him very hard, toying with the halfling. The dwarf yells loudly and frantically as his beard and hair all catch on fire, and he sends a ray of fire at Dameon that badly burns his entire body, searing flesh and bone, leaving Dameon stunned in disbelief.

"Got ya, now gimme de treasure! There's more where that came from!" the dwarf yells loudly, beard and hair still burning..

The halfling just attacked, so he bases you. The dwarf is 15 feet behind him and 1 square to the left.

Ouch, that Scorching Ray hurt, but wait, I have the Gloves of Dex +2 on, so my Touch AC should be 14 now (18 dex), so it should miss. Thank Aoth if it does!... Also, don't forget the 5 extra damage to the Halfling from my Divine Might. C'mon online roller, don't fail me now with that damage ...

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpg Dameon held his side against the unexpected magical ray from the dwarf. "Damn... good shot.... Hold that thought," And with that he took a step back and then faded away from the visible spectrum. Moving quickly to try and recover, Dameon set his sights on the dangerous dwarf next. "I told you guys not to cross the line ... now why did you have to go and ruin everything? You are NOT getting this treasure and I will may you pay for your treachery and greed!"

Adjust back, draw/cast Invisibility from scroll. Assuming I go undetected next, adjust again, draw/manifest ML2 Vigor. Then move next to the dwarf while drawing my wand. Next, base the dwarf, and strike him with another Divine Might, Attack 17 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=177847) (+2 attack and vs his Flatfooted AC if I am still undetected) and 16 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=177848) possible dmg. If my invisibility ends prematurely, or I get the feeling they can see me, draw/cast Mirror Image from a scroll before drawing the wand or attacking.

His roll was a 20 though, so even with the correct touch ac it still hits... he doesn't have too many of those though, so you should be okay. I will be able to post tomorrow...

Dameon draws and casts from the newly procured scroll of Invisibility, disappearing.
"Aw, come on, that's cheating!"
"Well then tek'niklay ah'm cheatin' as well!"
"Shaddap! Let's kick his arse!"
"I don't have my scrolls with me..."

The halfling steps back and seems to be waiting for something after Dameon disppears.
The dwarf casts a spell at the place where Dameon was when he went invisible, and it covers the square behind it where Dameon moved to after he went invisible, but Dameon is easily able to keep his footing.

Drawing his glaive now, Dameon moves around the greasy area and sneaks up on the dwarf, who has a dismayed look on his face at not seeing any results from his casting of Grease. Dameon stabs him with his glaive and the dwarf goes down screaming. The halfling turns around, a look of horror on his face. He then tries to run away, but instead slips and falls on the greased area. Dameon laughs at him, knowing the halfling has learned his lesson.
"I help now!!!"
A voice is heard from behind a rock. Cliche, still glowing a bit, jumps up on top of it and sends a ray of fire at the poor halfling, now on fire and unable to stand up. The grease ignites around him, and he eventually stops struggling to get up.
"Yay! I win!"

Nicely done. Questlog will be updated once I tabulate everything. Dameon finds whatever rewards from the quest total in the loot he and Cliche get to sort through.

Caster Level Check (1d20+1=15) (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=178312) passes

Thanks for a Quest well done. :)

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpg"Cliche!" Dameon exclaimed, "Wow, good timing... Thanks for that aide. I'm glad they didn't get to you." He dismissed his golden armor, testament to his inner draconic powers, and turned with a smile to his short friend. "That was really close, I got really worried for a minute there... I wonder what these guys are really about..." and with that Dameon knelt down rifled through the pockets and packs of the treacherous duo, hoping to find some clue as to anything deeper than their greed, or perhaps somethingf of value they previously picked up.

He looked over to Cliche again, "This has been a rough day, ya know? What do you say we head back to the tavern and get some drinks? On me."

Cliche helps Dameon search through the possessions of the fallen. They find papers and notes from an actual museum, but there is no telling whether or not they are valid.

At Dameon's offer, Cliche's dromite antennae perk up.
"Sure! Just keep those Glo-Potions away from me!!!"

The two head back to the tavern where this all began to find the smell familiar to those of gladius - a saffron aroma caused by the travelling cloud of the Nimbus. Sure enough, the bartender was cleaning the tables as the patrons revelled in their own affairs. It was as if nothing had happened at all. Upon seeing Dameon, the bartender nodded gratefully, for nothing had evidently been taken and their business appeared to be intact. As the bartender was doing this business away from the bar itself, a keen eye could detect a glamered individual behind the bar pouring drinks for bewildered customers, as objects such as flagons, mugs, pitchers, and taps were moved by an unseen force. Evidently the wizard who created the Glo-Potion, the bartender's brother, was taking over at the bar while his brother socialized for a bit.

Cliche ran up to the bar, followed by Dameon who was just entering the tavern.
"Hey! Rezzi! Got anything new?!"
"Here you go, try this. It isn't as potent as the glo-potion, and should be a fun treat," a voice from where the drinks are poured says as a small-sized flagon is filled without aid of visible hands and floats over to settle in Cliche's chitinous hands. The dromite takes a long draw of it, and foam begins fizzing out of Cliche's mouth.
"Whooooooaaaaaahhhhoooooaaaa! It's fizzy!!!" the dromite states as he falls off of his stool and is soon covered in bright blue foam that bubbles. Onlookers laugh to themselves as another has fallen for the famous Fizzler.

"What would you like to have, kind sir? It's on the house," the voice speaks to Dameon, suddenly closer than where it had been coming from while serving Cliche's drink.

http://www.geocities.com/luken55/Characters/Dameon2.jpgDameon looked over to the frothing Cliche and threw up some eyebrows, finding it both hilarious and strange. THIS is all he wanted to do when he went in for a drink. The entertaining ambiance, the interesting people, the time to himself. He looked about, slightly touching upon all of the crazy things that happened to him today, but he conlcuded that Life was simply funny like that.

He looked over to empty space where the voice was emanating, "Ah ...hm. Not what Cliche's having, sorry. Just a plain water for me, thanks." He grinned sheepishly. He still was never the type to drink much besides water. After all, which he did not expect anyone else to know, his and his family's origins from the desert lands still molded their view on many things. Water, an incredibly precious resource, was something they drank solely with reverence and gratitude. However now, in a city where such liquid, and better with wine, ale, and beer, his nature of drinking only water was likely something he nor his family would never drop.
