Familiar: Gakhnalak has chosen not to summon a familiar.
Armored Casting: Can cast sorcerer spells while wearing light armor without an arcane spell failure chance.
Improved Darkvision: Base 60', improved to 90'
No light sensitivity: As an orc paragon, Gakhnalak has overcome his racial sensitivity to light.

Trip. Kill. Destroy.
Cast Shield against melee or magic missiles, use Prot. <alignment> against summons, Reduce Person if an archery duel is unavoidable, and Enlarge Person if an extra melee/tripping boost is needed.Born of the Burning Fang tribe of orcs, Gakhnalak always knew he was destined for greatness. He was strong, fast, skilled, and even smart (for an orc). He mastered the arts martial at an early age, and even demonstrated a talent for magic. Unimpressed by the paltry tasks his tribe attempted, he abandoned them in search of greater glory and power. He considers himself the greatest of all orcs (in potential, at least), the mightiest race in the world (again, in potential), and holds all other races, especially half-orcs and elves, in great contempt.

The pain of the burning lava was unimaginable. Gakhnalak could feel his skin blistering and popping, his blood boiling, his muscles searing. The elf lay in the lava, his body a ruin, but laughter on his lips... then suddenly, the pain was gone. The elf screamed and was consumed in the flames and vanished. He was replaced by another foe, and another, each one dying in fire that the orc somehow knew he was creating. At first, he exulted in his power, but then the feeling was replaced by emptiness, then regret, and finally by deep sorrow. As the last opponent shrieked her death, the orc felt tears welling up in his eyes at the unnecessary and painful death....

For what must have been the dozenth night in a row, Gakhnalak sat bolt upright in his bed, sweat dripping off his muscled body. He reached up to his face--yes, the tears were there, too. Good thing no one was awake to see him in this state of weakness--and that orcs' eyes were naturally red already.

This could not go on, the orc decided. This kind of weakness was unacceptable, and had to be stopped at any cost. He dressed, gathered up his weapons and traveling gear as quietly as he could, and left WAR's guildhall.

At first, Gakhnalak wandered aimlessly, lost in thought. He had tried solving the problem on his own, but that clearly was not working. But who could he go to for help? Certainly not anyone at WAR; he couldn't live that down. Nor could he approach a stranger--even if they understood and were sympathetic, the experience would be too humiliating. The Burning Fang orcs of his homeland would also denegrate him for his weakness, especially from a so-called "paragon" of the race. Such thoughts were simply not appropriate for a real orc....

That last thought stopped him in his tracks. Someone who is not a "real orc," but knows them... someone who understands what it is to be a misfit such as I.... Gakhnalak realized that he did know someone like that. There was a half-orc female raised in his tribe, a woman named Enkatha, who, unlike most half-orcs, never made any effort to fit in. She seemed to be a spellcaster of some sort, although she neither worshipped the orcish gods nor had the use of arcane magic. She was clearly quite mad, but orcs sometimes came to her for advice, which was often sound (when they could figure it out).

If anyone would understand Gakhnalak's problem and be able to help, it would be Enkatha. He immediately began the long trek to the hills of his homeland, hoping that she would still be there, or at least that someone would know where to find her.

A Matter of Dogma

As Gakhnalak journeyed through hills and countryside, a dark storm approached. Just before being overtaken by the storm, a thick fog bank engulfed him. The fog was so thick that Gakhnalak could not hope to continue his journey for fear that his next step might be the first in a long journey down the edge of a cliff, or into a river of some sort. He journeyed a bit further and found a cave. At last, refuge!

He waited for what seemed like hours, and finally the rains came. With them, the fog lifted and he could better view his surroundings. Before him stretched a large valley that he had never before seen in his life. The rain came down in a torrent, but the sun still lit the valley up, making it seem almost cartoonish in the nature of the bright greens and blues that reflected up at Gak's eyes.

He decided not to heed the rain, though it was coming down in thick sheets, and walk into the valley before him. He spotted what appeared to be a small village on the far side of it...perhaps he could find lodging, or at the very least some elfmeat to put out of its misery.

As he came upon the town, he heard the shouting. The townspeople had gathered on one side of the small hamlet, and they were coaxing along a young bonfire. As he came closer, he noticed that in the center of the soon-to-be blaze there stood strapped to a large wooden pole a female with strangely greenish skin...

A bonfire, when the rain is coming down in sheets? Those are some pretty impressive survival skills....Taking advantage of the torrential rain, the orc took a detour through a side street to try to get a closer look at the captured woman. Wouldn't it be just his luck if she happened to be the very half-orcess he was looking for!
I'm assuming it is, because otherwise there's no reason for Gakh to care.
Cursing his luck, Gakhnalak took an appraisal of the situation. How he intervened depended on the number and armament of the townsfolk. If he might be able to beat them in a fight, he would make the attempt; if not, he would have to try to find a diplomatic solution, somehow.

Not all is as it appears ;) We're going to have to assume Gak has some feelings for his own kind left-> Any orc/half orc would do, especially when persecuted by non-orcish peoples. (at least by my assumptions-> if you desire to RP him as more cold-hearted, there is still room in this adventure for that)

Gakhnalak came to the edge of town and as he stepped past the first building the rain stopped. He looked around to make sure he had not been spotted, and in the process of doing so he noticed that the rain had indeed not stopped. Taking a examining step backwards, he found himself in the rain again. He stepped forwards once again and the rain was no longer present.

Shrugging this off as not important to his own interests, he moved closer to the bonfire to determine the military status of the farm folk. One of them was dressed in fine nobles robes, and had a small contingent of guards around him, all armed with short swords are their waists. At this short distance, Gakhnalak could easily see that the bonfire he thought he saw before was merely some sort of witchcraft-> for the half-orc was not herself burning alive just yet. The guards held torches, and now Gakhnalak could even make out what was being said....

The Noble appeared to be in the middle of some sort of speech. ...you are hereby condemned to burn until dead for the heresy of preaching a doctrine which includes non-existant beauties in the chaos that surrounds the one true God, Zo.

Another person, less lofty but with just as many guards(indeed-> Gak had not spotted him before because he appeared to just be another member of the crowd), suddenly spoke up as well. "I, Grandedar, also hereby pronounce you guilty of heresy, for you have not kept silent of your belief in a all-powerful law that exists to split the chaos that exists in the supreme Zo's absense!"

The woman looked down at the two, seeming almost on the verge of laughing despite her most precarious prediciment. "Fools! Do you not see that your enemy is sentancing me to death for supporting your own claims? Are you so daft as to be only able to kill me in agreement, instead of ripping each other apart through disagreement? If I am guilty of anything, it is being of a split mind...I have spoken nothing more than anything either of you would agree with"

The noble in the fine robes spoke up in response, though his voice did not betray any emotion in the slightest.

"You speak both truth and untruth, woman. We are not in agreement of your death, for each of us has a different reason for demanding it. Were we to agree of such things for the same motives than you would be correct indeed! We would have to burn ourselves. However, I daresay that I myself am far too bright to suffer such an ill-suited fate."

The one in tattered rags spoke up. "I hear nothing from your lips but the tattered lies of order and reason. Fear not, though: The chaos from beyond will soon come to alleviate you of your pain. Fires burn on both sides of the great expanse to the afterlife, after all, and all we do now is bring you to the gateway."

With all of this being said, the villagers gave out a shout. They began to throw timber onto the ground below her, where the imaginary flames lapped at her feet...the flames themselves seemed almost in agony at their inability to burn.

Gak, of course, notices that there are two religious extremes present here. He spots the noble, the priest in tattered rags, and each of these fellows has four guards apiece.

They are all stark mad, Gakhnalak realized. But I'll be damned if I let another orc suffer the way I suffered, especially here, away from the Nimbus.

Figuring that a little intimidation might go a long way here, Gakhnalak quickly ripped out a scroll and chanted from it, doubling his size. Clutching a second scroll, he stepped up and boomed, "Stop! The life of this one belongs to me! If she is to suffer a painful death, it will be by my hand and mine alone!" He began to walk briskly but calmly toward the pyre.

The locals collectively began to lift their gazes to meet that of the Orc's, and began to move aside. The priest in tattered clothing immediately began to smile and proclaimed in a loud voice, "Blessed be my might Zo, who even in this hour of certainty has seen it right to sow his wondrous chaos!"

He then looked to his counterpart with a look of victory in his eyes. His counterpart looked at the Orc with a sour look on his face. He tapped the long staff he was weilding on the group once and a sound similar to thunder echoed below him.

"You are wrong my friend, I'm afraid. This is merely an example of how truely in tune with the law Zo is, for he has allowed me to forsee such an event taking place. I have, of course, prepared accordingly...."

At this point, the wooden platform that the man was standing on lowered rather quickly into the earth. Soon after another platform, made of metal, came up out of the earth with a hideous monster on top of it. The beast looked around it until it laid it's eyes on Gak & it howled in anger.

I'll post Gak's knowledge rolls after work. If he doesn't have any knowledge, feel free to post some basic tactics.

He has Arcana, which covers a lot of bases. I'll probably start off with that Shield scroll, though.

After seeing the beast fail to break free of its shackles, Gakhnalak takes the opportunity to give himself a bit of magical protection from his scroll. Then he draws his guisarme, roars his defiance, and moves in for the kill.

Rage and go for the trip. If it fails and I'm counter-tripped, don't drop the guisarme just yet; the AoO for closing will give me another chance. Then I die, most likely, but if I can't pull off a trip given 2 chances at +17 vs. +12, the dice gods have it in for me anyway.
