The reason is that about every character concept has already been used and every new toon is a copy of a toon that already existed. - So the COCO can still be used to teach game-rules but can no longer be used to test different builds against each other. - I suggest to either a) decrease the credits needed to create ECL creatures or to b) allow other WotC material, like for example the new Players Guide to Faerūn or the Complete Warrior. - I think that the skill credit lowering would provide several months worth of experiencing new monsters. As we teach DMs the rules here, experiencing monsters with class levels would be perfect. That experience can directly be used in our campaigns at home. - If we include other WotC material, this would lead to a mass of Prestigeclasses and new feats/magic items. This would be alot more work for the pitlords, but provide for more usable toons. It would allow to test builds, Prestige Classes and magic items of the different settings in which players really play - not only core classes. This would benefit players more than DMs. 2) COCO-system: We should find different ways of checking the toons before the fights. This takes too much time from the pitlords and makes pitlording a strain on ones time. For example, i always checked every character intensely and often found errors (by the finding of which the players of the characters were helped), but this always took 2-4 hours before the fight. And these were only lvl 2-5 characters. If we really want to stay core, i suggest using one electronic freeware utility. The standartised charactersheets would help in checking. Also, most of these softwares don“t allow many errors to happen, like wrong skill point calculation, wrong hit point calculation et cetera. This would negate 90% of the errors in the character sheets and give the pitlords more time to run fights. A suggestion would be the RedBlade generator. It is easy to use and supports the Core Rules without further configuring. http://www.dark-legacy.com/redblade3e/3.5e/ |
