The granite halls were filled with exotic plants, the aroma of incense filling the room. The lights were dimmed, and the dark warriors of Gladius sat around a large table. Virgo stood at the edge of the table, and spoke aloud, "You have all been invited here for a purpose. You are people of power, and rightfully deserve that power. I have brought you here to make sure that power is achieved. The fruits of Gladius are ripe for the picking, and with the strength at this table we will take it. The balance of power will shift, and in a short time we will own Gladius." "This building is the headquarters of the E.H.T.C., the East Habari Trading Company. And while it does reputable business here, it will be merely a front for us to infiltrate Gladius society in every way. If you choose to have a permanent spot in this table, you will no longer be alone. You will be an army! The weak-willed idiots who run this city have no right to influence Gladius. IT IS NOW OURS!!!! Destiny is no longer able to sway us. The Market, the Church, the Colisseum....our "workers" are already placed within them, building an informational network. Nothing and no one will stop us. You will achieve every dream, every desire, if you put your skills on the table for one cause." The powers of darkness seemed to grow as each person put their hand on the table, making the E.H.T.C. boardroom the fastest growing powerhouse in Gladius. A dark wind now fills the streets... |
| Sindorin05-04-05, 08:31 PM | At one crest of the table sits a woman whose innocent beauty denies her long years of deception and seduction. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"I kind of like the idea of this city being our little playground. I'm in," she said with a playful smirk on her face. She continues, curiously, "what exactly do you mean 'every dream and desire'? Is this even possible?" |
| Megrim_Lord05-04-05, 08:42 PM | The orc sitting at the direct center of the tables left side slowly moves a chain through his hands and back around his waist. He wonders for a moment how he should present himself here, and after a few thoughts he realizes it is probably still prudent to play the ignorant barbarian, since no matter who the others are he still runs the risk of facing them in the arena. "Trokk want smash Gladius, Trokk want kill all, take weapons, run arena, you say Trokk can do all that? Yes, yes, let us see what this fool has to offer me... |
| Arstimis05-04-05, 11:07 PM | En'Sidious Nite walks into the boardroom. .oO(Looks like home, or at least what i made to be my home) Nite didnt come here so he could be part of a greater power that would rule the city. Nite came here to get valuable information that he could get no other way. Nite sits in a chair alone, looking around at the others as they devise how they will take over. En'Sidious Nite has his own plans forming themselves in his mind, but he will play along with there game for now, till he gets what he needs |
| Iced05-05-05, 10:47 AM | A shimmering falls away as a dark small gnome steps out of nothingness and takes a pull from a wine cup. Looking around the room he nods his head in amusement, "I cannot see how you can expect to overrun Gladius with these." he says mockingly indicating the remaining Gladiators present in the room. "Pray inform me how this alleigence will benefit me or I may have just wasted a valuable day of testing a new spell of mine!" Seeing Trokk across the table in the shadows Griff gives a hearty and slightly insane laugh, "Of course I could always use an alternate subject..." |
| Sindorin05-05-05, 12:36 PM | Va'ria quietly sits at her place at the table, regarding the insidious gnome coolly. Her eyes begin glowing blue as she looks over at him. His magic is simply childsplay compared to my own now after the training I have endured from Tair Malek... She waits calmly for her questions to be answered by Virgo, or some other member of E.H.T.C., or perhaps even by the other attendees of this meeting themselves. |
| King Uther05-05-05, 02:13 PM | Virgo sees some uneasiness and confusion among the assembled, something that could make everything fall apart before even beginning. His eyes glow redder, hinting at his demonic possession... "You must see the scope of what I am asking. I am not asking you to work for me, but to be apart of this boardroom. I am giving you license to do anything you please, for now you have both the number of people and financial backing to pull it off." Someone shouts from the crowd, "But what can we do?" Virgo replies coldly, "Are you that blind? Hmmm....perhaps I will open your eyes. Argreos Myrthra, the secretary of trade and commerce under Rito Maya, is about to have a grave accident. After his unfortunate demise, I will take hold of his office, ensuring the foothold we will have on Gladius. If we can take hold of one, two, three political offices, then the populace will have no choice but to accept our subtle will. Any other questions?" |
| Huan05-05-05, 03:08 PM | A dark-haired swordsman watched the miasma of corrupt and evil characters, like a predator silently appraising potential prey. He leaned against the wall, in one of the shadier corners of the room (though there were many things shady in the room), while puffing slowly on a long pipe and otherwise keeping to himself. He was summoned here as well, and for now he bided his time and waited to see the clencher of this gathering. He noted the speaker, Virgo, but still said nothing, still choosing only to evaluate the entire situation with his hawk-like eyes. He wanted no hassle, and preffered that this was not all a waste of his time. He did, after all, have important personal matters to attend to... the man's offer was indeed tempting ... but like all things Nell knew not to take it as face value. He weighed the opportunity's risks and judged its potential in terms of raising him to his goal.... again, he waited... |
| Salzorin05-06-05, 12:00 AM | The slender figure in the back, clad in makeup, a star under one eye and a tear under the other, cracks a smile from cheek to cheek. He had come in late but had managed to catch the bulk of the conversation. Jumping away from his patch of wall, he follows into a series of acrobatics and a large flourish that leave him hanging down from the chandelier overhead... "Such sullen, sad, and somber faces I see before me. Afront we grandstand with such serious and grave expressions. Let us end this masquerade and let our true smiles show... after all, we gather here, not to mourn, but to rejoice. All of us here have so much to gain and nothing to lose. Lift your glasses on high for a union that shall benefit us all, and to the man at the end of the table who had the sense to suggest it." He drops to the table on one knee in front of their host and bows theatrically... "I will listen to any man that would offer me amusement... and you, oh gracious host, seem quite the funny fellow." Raising up, he hops down from the table, settles into an empty seat and rests his legs upon the table. "Perhaps before we ask what exactly you can do for us, you would have us know what exactly it is we can do for you?" |
| King Uther05-06-05, 02:57 PM | Without hesitation Virgo kicked the hidden switch on the table Hisoka was standing on, and the table flipped under, leaving Hisoka subject to gravity. With inhuman quickness he landed on his feet, and a set of stairs leading down below the E.H.T.C. sat before the group. "Follow me." One by one they entered the dark chamber, fully unaware as to what to expect. Torture devices.....vials....achemical machines.....these things were everywhere. Virgo led them to yet another secret door, flipping the book named The Inner Demons to trigger it. "Such irony," he thought. The chamber opened to reveal a large machine, built from pure adamantine, that centered around a small piece in the middle. Virgo pulled a severed Xeph eyeball from a small bag on his belt, and laid it softly in the center piece. The machine came to life, and an image showing the streets of Gladius appeared. "This is Zasko Kesferon. I severed his eyeball in the arena, and unbeknownst to him I can watch everything he does. There are others as well. This machine is our key. The ability to predict our opponents without fail. This gift is mine to you. This facility is as well. Spell research, weaponsmithing, potion brewing(I intend to use funds to fill this with good community stuff later) are all at your disposal." The room began to change. Images of everyone's goals and dreams filled their minds, the rise to power, the influence and prestige, gold and eternal life. All the tempting things life has to offer and more. This illusion was draining on the demon, his strength was still weak. It stopped abruptly. "Your dreams is what I offer. Nothing more, nothing less. The only sacrifice I ask is the sacrifice others will have to give. There will never be a chance to oppose us for our enemies will die before we are even discovered. Now all we need is a name for this Council of Evil..." |
| King Uther05-06-05, 04:23 PM | After performing this deed, Virgo disappeared, leaving his new colleagues with much to discuss and think about... OOC: On to the assassination. |
| Arstimis05-06-05, 06:12 PM | Nyte leans against the wall in the back listening. He kneels down and begins to write something on a parchment. Nyte wraps the note around the shaft of an arrow. He pulls back and and releases the arrow. Nyte's shot flies true, through the crowd and right at the head of Virgo. Virgo dissapears right before it hits him. The arrow hits with a thud against a wooden rack and the note unravels like a banner for anyone to read. \\\\\\\\______________________________| ////////'''''''''"""'''"""''"""''"""''"""""""""""""""""""""""""| Official Name: The Enlightened Ones |
| Sindorin05-06-05, 07:39 PM | http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"Well then... it looks like we're on our own..." Quickly skimming the note as it is passed to her, then passing it on, she seems to think quietly to herself. Whoever the parchment gets passed to will notice a glowing runic "V" next to "Illusive Takeover". Va'ria's choice is evidently contradictive of her prohibited school... |
| Megrim_Lord05-06-05, 07:46 PM | Trokk takes one long, sharp fingernail and jabs it into his forearm, then uses it to write a large bloody T next to The Council of True Power. |
| Arstimis05-06-05, 07:51 PM | "Anyone Can add thier own suggestion..you dont have to just use mine" Nyte says plainly |
| Sindorin05-06-05, 08:51 PM | http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"True," Va'ria replies, "but a name for such a group is not extremely important due to our subtle nature in business. Perhaps we should pick a name that does not address our business, so as to not arouse suspicion." |
| Arstimis05-06-05, 10:44 PM | "Possibly." Nyte adds another suggestion to the list The Enlightened Ones. |
| Sindorin05-07-05, 11:42 AM | http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"Brilliant! I love it!" Va'ria exclaims as she looks over Nyte's new suggestion. She then gestures again to change her arcane mark to the new choice. |
| Iced05-07-05, 12:34 PM | Enlightened... I like it! Griff grins evily in the gloom. |
| King Uther05-08-05, 07:13 PM | Virgo returns triumphantly, placing Argreos' signet ring in plain sight. They were surprised how quickly he returned. "You see........step one is complete. Argreos is dead, giving me opportunity to take his place. But to truly engage the forces of good here, we will need more influence, more power." Virgo noticed the names list, eyeing them carefully. "The Enlightened Ones? That is a perfect name, an ironic name. Almost like a charity. I like it." And with that the Enlightened Ones(assuming everyone else accepts) began to plan for the future.... |
| Snommelp05-09-05, 01:36 AM | "Interesting place you have here. I hope you don't mind, I let myself in." A rather large hobgoblin walks slowly into the room. "You work quickly. I've hardly been here a day, and already I have been invited to join this group of yours. Be cautious, hasty one, or you might just invite the wrong person. I suppose I'll have to stick around, see if I can enlighten this group which wants to be called the 'Enlightened Ones.'" Concluding his speech, Gablim Utye sits down on the floor, making himself comfortable. |
| Arstimis05-09-05, 06:53 AM | "Very well, Virgo. Who do you want me to kill first?" |
| Sindorin05-09-05, 12:48 PM | http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"I want to kill someone too. I will be back later." With this, Va'ria stands and leaves through the door, heading towards the camp of the Elven Contingent from Talltrees... |
| Malither7605-09-05, 02:01 PM | hum, all so eager to kill this must be the place. these words are heard from rear of the room were no person had been noticed but now you can see what wishes to be seen as a fit looking elven man steps forward drawing back his hood and revealing his face. My name, well thats not important now is it, you can call me The Shadow, or just Shadow or whatever as long as your paying me. And I got to admit thats one thing I do love about you evil craving bastards, you usually pay better than the good guys. If you choose my company to be accepted here than I kind of like the sound of the Enlightened Ones as well, but a name is just that, no fear in a name, fear only comes from power. The shadow walks to an empty chair as long as there are no objections to him being here and has a seat. So now before we all get too eager here lets think of whom we can take power from. |
| Snommelp05-09-05, 02:34 PM | "Thinking can come later. Right now I want to see how that elven lady that just left is faring." Gablim walks up to the machine and begins tinkering with it. "How does this blasted thing work? Bah! Forget it, I can learn how her fight went by word of mouth." Gablim turns back around. "This diversion has lost my interest. You now have my attention again, Shadow. Who do you wish to take power from?" |
| Sindorin05-09-05, 02:59 PM | Va'ria returns to the boardroom, looking a bit singed. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"Wow, that was quite a shock, and I'm still laughing about it... Hmm, this nimbus thing is nice. I should be skipping about the Nine Hells about now. And all I wanted was to ask Uhmentarymster if he needed any work done. He always insists that we have sparring matches, he never wants to go for coffee or to the theater or anything." Va'ria seems to ramble on and on. She then sits in her original chair and stares at the ceiling. "Pretty owl... why did it claw me?" she says to no one in particular. |
| Malither7605-09-05, 11:59 PM | who do we take power from indeed is a proper question, but not one of my concerne, see I am here strickly because I like money, that is what is power in the end. So its not for me to decide who the Enlightend Ones wants to take down as long as I get paid for doing my part its all gravy after that. Shadow leans back props of his feet and cleans under his finger nails with an arrow he has been playing with. |
| King Uther05-10-05, 11:46 AM | Virgo places a piece of parchment on the table, listing targets viable for both killing and assimilating. "There are still many who need to die, and many who need to be "Enlightened." List of targets for whom death awaits(Preliminary list. Suggestions will be added and later put up on the first post): 1. Captain of the Gladius Border Patrol 2. Captain of the Gladius "Crimson Guard." (Elite Task Force) 3. Captain of the Gladius "Iron Guard." (Police) 4. Secretary of Agriculture 5. Secretary of Domestic Affairs 6. Secretary of Defense 7. Secretary of Gladitorial Affairs 8. Klaus Orepha, Arena judge who favors good Gladiators List of targets to be added to our numbers: 1. Gladius Thieves Guild 2. Bandits of Luna Marsh 3. Mercernary Group "The Dark Eight" 4. "Circle of Decay" Evil Druid sect 5. Clerics of Hextor "We can start here. The list will grow, as will our army and the dead who would've opposed us." OOC: These will make great assassination missions, although some will be too high CR for now. The groups to add are also of the same type of mission, where you must defeat one of their members to convince them to join, etc...If we put our minds together we can make a huge list of targets. |
| Arstimis05-10-05, 12:14 PM | Nyte looks at the list of names. His eyes looks over each one and studies it, like he would be studying his victim. In the blink of an eye Nyte pulls an arrow out, twirls it around his fingers and slams the arrow head into 'Secretary of Agriculture'. A name appears in the place of where it said the 'Secretary of Agriculture.' "Perfect, just who I thought. This deadman thought I looked funny and laughed. We will see who gets the last laugh." |
| King Uther05-10-05, 12:17 PM | Virgo notices the name shot, and calls Nyte and Baelin to him. "If you are to kill the Secretary of Agriculture, you will first need to kill the urban ranger Guirdo Fairnell, who has been investigating us already. We must not be discovered before the time is ready. Guirdo is the Secretary's dog, and he should die like one. If death finds him your rewards will be great. Your skills for subterfuge do not go unnoticed. Will you be the hands of death that strike him?" |
| Arstimis05-10-05, 05:09 PM | Virgo notices the name shot, and calls Nyte and Baelin to him. Will you be the hands of death that strike him?" "A Dog?! That is it, you're kidding right. No matter, let me go get a bone and I'll prove not all dogs go to heaven" |
| Malither7605-10-05, 05:47 PM | Well, I take it your the one in charge here then, or at least the one I should be seeing about my payment, thats plenty enough for me. I know others gain power through my actions but thats the way of the world, as long as I'm getting my piece its gravy to me. So let us be swift in our actions and further raise power for old Virgo and the group as a hole. says The Shadow as he raises a glass of wine to toast the futur of success for the Enlightend Ones. |
| Snommelp05-11-05, 02:04 AM | Ignoring the Shadow, Gablim peruses the list. "I am too new in town to know any of these people. Just give me a target and some time to study him. If I find him worth the effort, he will be... disposed of." |
| Malither7605-12-05, 03:15 AM | well Nyte my friend looks like we have a job to do. The ranger can't be too much of a threat for ones of our skill and cunning so let us be quick about this and be in and out. The Shadow stands securing all his gear and ready to move out. |
| Arstimis05-12-05, 06:06 AM | Nyte walks out with out a word. He only nods to show that he was listening |
| King Uther05-16-05, 12:07 PM | After Nyte and Shadow's return, Virgo greets them as they enter. Then they present evidence of death. followed by a brief description of the encounter. "You have exceeded my expectations. With stealth and skill you killed 2 enemies of the Enlightened Ones, a deed that will not go unrewarded. (This is where you earn 750gp) Here is your payment. Soon it will be said that when you shake hands with death, the darkness will take you. I believe that together you both could kill anyone. An assassination duo wandering the streets. A little scary, no? But you will need a name to go with that fear. And a symbol. The Hands of Death.....yes. Nyte, you are the left. Shadow, the right. Together you can strangle the life out of any living being. Your symbol: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y226/Arkazzan/death.gif It is an ancient glyph meaning death. Rejoice, for soon you will strike fear into the hearts of all those who believe good triumphs, because with you......it won't." |
| Arstimis05-16-05, 12:07 PM | Nyte walks in from a short, but satisfying trip. Shadow walks in beside him. They set the heads down on the table as they walk in. That was very enjoyable. Now who wants to be the Secretary of Agriculture?, Nyte says with a grin. |
| Arstimis05-16-05, 12:15 PM | Also, after that satisfying kill I think I'd like to attempt at increasing the ranks of the Enlightened Ones. How would you like me to "convince" the Bandits of Luna Marsh to join? |
| Malither7605-16-05, 01:54 PM | ah Virgo, your words are kind but your money is all the better thank you my friend for the transaction, Nyte and I had a blast, I don't think it could have went much better, was like shooting fish in a barrel. We could increase the numbers, but why not just pay them a visit and mabie get them working for us with the illusion of acceptance, I think we can make them see our side of things.. What do you say Virgo should we go shake things up? Or do you have another target ready for us? |
| Malither7605-16-05, 01:58 PM | Just to verify, we sold everything and we split even for 1375 each right. |
| Arstimis05-16-05, 06:16 PM | Just to verify, we sold everything and we split even for 1375 each right. Yes, i verified that in the mini-quest thread. Those were along the same lines I was thinking Shadow. As you may see, I am not the best talking negotiator, so I have other things to do negotiating for me, if you know what I mean.Nyte grins |
| Arstimis05-16-05, 08:58 PM | Well, I hear they are having an election for the secretary position we cleared out. If we want to presence to seep in we are going to have to win that. So i suggest we nominate someone, then all of us vote |
| King Uther05-17-05, 12:31 PM | OOC: Do you guys want a real quest or mini? If you both have 3 credits, a real quest for Baelin and Nyte would be awesome. "Yes....the Bandits of Luna Marsh do need some.....convincing. We must build an army, one big enough to rival Gladius' own. If you both succeed, and I am sure you will, the reward will be substantial." |
| Malither7605-17-05, 02:22 PM | OOC: I'm good on credits and I think a 3 week quest would be fun, though I'm good either way so I will let Artimis decide. Well they will all soon learn how I love to talk, and can be quite convinciable. |
| Arstimis05-17-05, 05:27 PM | (OOC: Why not.. i have 4 credits and cant thing of anything else to use them on :) Then let us go. The Hands of Death have yet another mission whose success is inevitable |
| Malither7605-17-05, 11:48 PM | OOC: ok King were in shoot me a pm if we are doing this, thanks again for running the quest there fun. Well Virgo my friend I'm sure you have people to manipulate and things to do, so I won't bother you too long, but I don't like sitting around so were we going next? |
| King Uther05-18-05, 12:17 AM | "There are a group of bandits, numbering in the 30s, who have taken residence in Luna Marsh, to the East. Their leader, the Barbarian Iagras, refuses to listen to reason, while his son Cortithan, would gladly join our cause. It will take time to prepare, but Iagras must die. There is no way around that. I know you both will not disappoint. Here is a token I have taken from one of Gladius' important figures, Jindl. If it is found on Iagras' body, then surely they will have no choice but to do our bidding. You will be paid well. Now I must take my leave....I have an election to rig." |
| Sindorin05-18-05, 02:06 AM | http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"Oh boy, I just love a good election-rigging, and I am honored that you all would have me fill the slot of Secretary of Agriculture. Before you do this, Virgo, is there anything that you need me to do? I've never been one for sneaking and killing, but I have other potent weapons at my disposal..." |
| Arstimis05-18-05, 12:00 PM | Ok, Everyone here is going to need to vote for Va'ria if we want her to win Its not really a bad thing of Jindl wins. It would give me someone else to play with. But it would be a big waste of time that me and Shadow have already devoted to opening this position. |
| Sindorin05-18-05, 02:02 PM | http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"That's true, it is not a horrible loss if I do not get elected, but it sure would be fun... I have an idea! I am going to go to the Brotherhood and see if I can get them to vote for me! I'll be back later, gents." With that, Va'ria leaves to go talk to a few of her friends at the Brotherhood of the Arcane Order. |
| King Uther05-18-05, 04:14 PM | "Wait, Va'ria. I do have something you could do for me. There is an information network throughout this area detailing important dealings of inscrutable characters, so that they can be monitored and stopped if needed. An old Blue by the name of Wu Fi'ithis is one of their contacts, a wizard of moderate power. He was a witness to the assassination of the Secretary of Agriculture, and it would be best if he never got to speak. He lives in a wooden cabin by the river. Please deliver this to him." Virgo hands Va'ria a dagger with a wooden handle, scribed upon it a symbol for Jindl of the High Forest. "With this we can kill two birds with one stone. Cast suspicion on our enemies, as well as eliminate a threat." |
| Sindorin05-25-05, 02:38 PM | Va'ria returns from visiting Wu'fithis. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Sindorin/Variasmall.bmp"That was a fun little trip... Virgo, I did as you ordered, and Wu'fithis is now dead with Jindl's dagger bloodied and next to his burned body - they won't be able to discern what exactly was the cause of death, everything will appear as if Wu was Entangled and that Jindl threw Produced Flames at him..." |
| Iced05-26-05, 01:09 AM | Coming into the entrance to the E.H.T.C. Griff speaks, "Is Trokk here? I was wondering if he'd like to join me in some elf and pixie slaying with Nyte and Baelin?" |
| King Uther05-26-05, 01:20 AM | Virgo, pleased at how his evil brethren have spread their influence locally, sits quietly in the dark in his office reading a note. "As the Secretary of Trade and Commerce for Gladius, you have been cordially invited to attend a meeting to discuss movements concerning bandit raids on caravans and other trade issues." These meetings were notorious for being all about how to do things without force. The collaboration of different cities to defend the trade routes is a wonderful idea, and has reduced piracy by 40%. Diary of Virgo Arkazzan: Step 2: "I will dismantle the collaborative agreement between Gladius neighbors, to allow myself the control of all Trade in the region, convincing the Council that investing in more troops to defend Gladius trade interests will bring a safer trade partnership with all of Gladius and its neighbors. And this is where we begin to truly take over..." |
| Iced05-30-05, 03:10 AM | A commotion is heard overhead and several men in the garb of the city watch are hurled down the staircase that leads to the E.H.T.C.'s headquarters. An inhuman cry of hate rips the air as two more guardsman are hurled down the hallway to land heaped next to the wall. Blood pools around their deformed body parts and the markings of a large swod can be clearly seen. A voice hisses from the shadows and The Watcher makes himself noticed. "I believeee that theree iss a creaturee up therre thattt hass the powerrsss to summonn the entiree city guardsss yesss. Itt would be prudenttt to stop himm before the archmagggesss are calleddd." The watcher glides toward the secret door, and as if he knew it was there all along, opens the entrance to the E.H.T.C. several minutes later, a bloody, but unwounded Gurvix is led to the cells beneath the E.H.T.C. under the influence of a potent sleep spell courtesy of Griff Mythal. The guards are disposed of quietly and the strange orc placed in a cell of non-detection. The Watcher is nowhere to be found... |
| King Uther06-07-05, 12:27 PM | Activity within the E.H.T.C. has queited down a little since the army has grown, but time was of the essence and things needed to get done, or undone. Ensidious Nyte and Baelin "Called Shadow" were called to the middle chamber. "You have proven you are among the best of assassins. Now that you have shown your skill, there is somewhat of a challenge. The Secretary of Defense, who is out visiting the outer rim of the Gladius posts, must be replaced. He is in the midst of trying to increase the amount of police patroling, as well as stricter laws to prevent gambling. If we can fill that position, then we may prove invincible. I know the both of you care less about the details, and more about the gold. This will be your payment." Virgo shows them a large amount of gold, numbering at least 10,000. |
| Malither7606-07-05, 01:43 PM | What, restricting gambling I never heard of such a thing, with no gambling then there would be no games for me to cheat at.. Well if the gold wasn't enough this certanly will make it more fun to hear him die.. consider it done Virgo. Shadow ducks out to go make preperations, and gives Nyte a nod, you know were to meet, I will see you there...oh just one more thing VIrgo, this secretary guy. Is he human and what about his henchmen any idea? |
| Megrim_Lord06-07-05, 04:03 PM | A chill wind blows about the meeting place. Windows shudder and floorboards creak, and there is a loud bang as the doors are thrown open. Through the portal walks a deathly looking elf, his faded gray skin wrinkled and appearing almost decayed. His amber eyes are sunken though eerily intimidating, and his once silver hair has lost all it's sheen and become nearly white. Directly behind him is a stone faced elven warrior, who appears youthful and vigorous, the polar opposite of the man in front of him. Trembling outside the doors is a cadre of 15 kobolds, all silently watching the decrepid old elf dressed in flowing black robes. The old elf groans, sounding a bit like a zombie, and then speaks in his dark and gravelly voice. "I... am Vetrinus Taleshire, a traveler from afar, these are my... associates. I have gathered from local sources of information... though mostly pieced together by myself... that is is a place that... caters to individuals who are... shall we say... free, of moral burdens. I would like to offer my... assistance, to this group, in exchange for information and membership into this place. Given my power I think, that this is quite fair... what says the leader of this organization?" |
| King Uther06-07-05, 04:13 PM | Sizing up the elf, Virgo considers his proposition. "The air around you screams. That enough allows you entrance here. You will find it....most accommodating. I am Virgo Arkazzan. I am the proprietor here." Virgo looks at him a bit more, guaging his strength. He then walks up to whisper. "I can see your old soul, and the evil marks upon it. Does it crave more? For soon Gladius will be a gaping maw, waiting to bite the head off of all that is good. Vetrinus, your services are both wanted and needed. Perhaps in turn my spy network can give you all the information you need." |
| Sindorin06-07-05, 05:13 PM | As Virgo walks up to whisper with the newcomer, Va'ria spins around in her chair clapping happily, "Yay, another elf,, and all the cute little ones that come with him! Do they perform tricks?" She gets up and begins dancing around the room. |
| Iced06-07-05, 05:21 PM | A howl erupts from below drowning out some of Va'ria's last words. There is a sound of clashing metal and a petrified scream before another man is hurled from below. Gurvix strides forth from the bowels of the E.H.T.C. the chains that had bound him trailing behind along with pieces of concrete from the wall. Blood coats his hands, and he licks them in appreciation before recognizing the presence of others in the room. Seeing the elves, his eyes fill with burning hate and he gives a hearty warcry. "Why have I been brought here?! Speak quickly elf, your ancient and decaying life depends on it..." grasping a torch holder from the wall he advances using it as a dagger... |
| Megrim_Lord06-07-05, 05:24 PM | "Three... Magic Missile, Shield, and dying" |
| King Uther06-08-05, 10:39 AM | "HALT!!!!!" The voice moves through the room, paralyzing everyone within it. "Hold your tongue, Gurvix, for there are many worthy of death in this metropolis. Your anger fuels you, and rightly so. You have been brought here for the opporunity to show others your pain, your anger. And have that opportunity you will. But don't dare show that anger here! This is a place of secrecy, of hidden strength. If you want revenge on those who've betrayed you, then stay. If not, you are free to leave." Virgo steps out of the doorway, knowing Gurvix cannot refuse the chance to settle up. The destructive orc would prove very useful... |
| Huan06-08-05, 11:02 AM | A dull as an ordinary picture on the side of the wall, Nell peeled himself off and approached Virgo. "Though this is a secure facility, there is no gaurantee the security of the city will not eventually find out. I suggest making a move to place a hand inside the guards of this city at once. They have grown lazy, letting the abundance of gladiators be the vigilante peacekeepers. As such their idleness may allow them more time and curiosity to turn an eye on any suspicious events and ... murders. I do not suggest merely murdering the aged captain of the guard of this city, whom I hear is on his way out of position anyway. No, I suggest a more ..." and Nell's physique suddenly changed to match Virgo's perfectly. It was as if twin brothers were standing side by side, or Virgo was looking into an invisible mirror... "...subtle approach.... I will replace the captain of the guard in this city and disguise myself as him. Once that is done, I will ensure all cases pointing to EHTC are diverted and sidetracked to red herrings." He turned to leave, nonchalant as always, reverted back to his 'normal' look of an Elan, and said, "I will make a move once I have prepared and gathered enough information on police HQ... " |
| King Uther06-08-05, 11:22 AM | Virgo looks at his duplicate and smiles. "I am delighted to meet the new Chief of the Iron Guard. Your ingenuity is to be admired, Nell. I wish you much success at your new position." |
| Sindorin06-08-05, 03:36 PM | Stopping in mid-dance at Virgo's sudden exclamation, Va'ria gets down to the ground, crawls back to her chair, muttering to herself. She then opens up a satchel that is lying under the chair and withdraws a crystal ball the size of two fists. With a wave of her hand and a short incantation, the ball begins floating a couple inches from the surface of the table as she sits in her chair and gazes into it. |
| Arstimis06-08-05, 06:45 PM | Nyte slings his bow over his back, looks at Shadow and nods, following him out. |
| Iced06-14-05, 07:03 PM | Letter to all members of the E.H.T.C.: War is brewing outside the city of Gladius, a horde of enemies lies in wait outside the walls in preparation to strike. Fellow members of the E.H.T.C. this is wonderful news! Indeed, this war could be a boon to our organization. With proper planning, and coordination the E.H.T.C. could become the sole provider of food and heavy weapons to the the city of Gladius! The E.H.T.C. is growing, already we have established partial control over Gladius. It is time now to expand our influences outside of the city. In order to carry out our plans within Gladius, we must look without for further financial backing. There is a merchant that we have contacted by the name of Abiti Havas. Your mission will be simple: rondevous with the merchant in the city of Greensbough. From him you will obtain his letters of trade and transit. There is a shipment of "acquired" goods bound for the coastal city of Fisher's Cove. You will after acquiring the letters of trade, "convince" this trade caravan to travel to Gladius. Use any methods nesescary to ensure that these goods will be delivered in good condition. You are working under a four week time frame my friends, it is essential that we recieve these goods before the four weeks are up! If the caravan is late, the E.H.T.C. will have to find an alternate, and most likely costly route to smuggle the goods into the city. This mission will be dangerous. Due to this fact, and also due to the exceptional risk involved in this endeavor, the E.H.T.C. will offer payment upon the sucessful completion of this mission. Be warned that any loss of cargo will also reflect on your reputation as well as your payment. Good Luck my Fellows! |
| Deadly Assassin06-18-05, 01:37 AM | Niccolo, new to Gladius and looking to get his hands on some more gold and more power, wanders into the building after finding a note someone had slipped, unnoticed, into the rogue's pocket. I'm looking for Virgo...Does anyone know where I can find him? Not receiving an immediate answer, Niccolo sits down at a shady booth in the corner, takes out his knife and whetstone and begins sharpening the blade. |
| King Uther06-18-05, 07:39 PM | Niccolo sat patiently, waiting for anyone in the room to answer. A voice popped out of the shadow in the corner. "You shouldn't throw names out like that. It can get you killed." A taller elf walked slowly forward, playing with a dagger in his hand. On his right and left, a half-orc and human. "Today is one of those days." The elf lunged forward, but Niccolo reacted quickly and without hesitation plunged a dagger into his stomach. The elf's pain-stricken face was more than enough to make him smile. As a team the other two moved, trying to flank Niccolo. As the half-orc ran around the table, a large hand was seen hanging onto the table, lifting an even larger body into the air, where a powerful half-giant leg was forced into the half-orc's throat. The half-orc dropped immediately. The human, now alone, stopped advancing. So did Virgo. He looked at Niccolo, looked at the human, and stepped back. Seeing his chance, the human tried to catch Niccolo off-guard with his short sword, but with fast reflexes Niccolo dodged to the side, grabbing onto the human's throat from behind. He made eye-contact with Virgo, right before he broke the human's neck. "Do not worry, they cannot die here. You have earned your place. Follow me." |
| Deadly Assassin06-18-05, 08:01 PM | After cleaning his blade on the dead elf's clothes, Niccolo picked up his whetstone and put it and the dagger away and turned to follow Virgo. |
| Sindorin06-18-05, 08:17 PM | Va'ria sits in her chair, stunned at the altercation that has occurred right here in the conference room. Boys will be boys, she thought to herself. She continued to gaze into her crystal ball, fascinated by the swirling clouds within, but not seeing much else. How pretty... |
| Luni06-18-05, 08:56 PM | The door opens, and a new figure enters the room. She pulls back her hood, revealing her tattooed head. She smiles, and takes a seat. "I hear you are planning to change the current power system in this city. I admire that. You should really invite someone who has the power of the divine though. I can provide you with an army of the dead. Not now, but soon. Also, you seem to have a few underlings who speak too much. Trust me, when I say the dead tell no tales." "The people of Gladius will also need religious guidance. Especially after you take over. My name is Ariel." She then waits, seeing just exactly who is in charge, and who is more than what they seem. |
| Deadly Assassin06-18-05, 09:12 PM | After following Virgo for a while, Niccolo comes across a group of people, all who seem to be doing their own thing. However, Niccolo senses there is a loose bond between them. |
| King Uther06-18-05, 09:27 PM | "Hmmm...an army of the dead? Now you have my attention. The dead do not talk, eat, sleep, or complain. But they do fight. Ariel, your aura says you serve and deal death. Do not be surprised, I know who everybody is. It is a......priority to know as much as you can. If an army of the dead is what you offer, then I offer you whatever you wish. For there is nothing I cannot give you." |
| Deadly Assassin06-18-05, 09:41 PM | Turning to Virgo once more, Niccolo replies. And what services do you require of me? I can go convince anyone you want to join our little...group. Or I can eliminate targets you wish to see removed from power. I await your orders, sir. With that, Niccolo sits down in the chair next to Va'ria and begins sharpening his knife again. |
| King Uther06-18-05, 09:47 PM | "Hone your skills, for soon enough your services will be required." (OOC: Basically you do what you want. If you want to go on a quest, PM me and we'll work out a good storyline for it. As time goes on there will be opportunity for you to engage in guild wars and the like. But for now our goal is to get more people and groups to join, and kill those who oppose us. And have fun doing so.) |
| Deadly Assassin06-18-05, 10:43 PM | Alright then, I'll do that. Niccolo put his stuff away, got up and began to leave. Just before exiting, he turned back. Oh, and I can bring in people you may want to...talk with. With that, Niccolo turns and walks off, hood up and head down. |
| Deadly Assassin06-19-05, 08:00 AM | An elf walked into the building and waded through the...unimportant...poeple, as she saw most of them, and made her way to Virgo. Seeing Virgo was just finishing up some business, the elf, N'rik Hathindar, leaned over to Virgo and whispered in his ear. I hear this is the place to come if I want to gain some real power in this city. I noticed the list of targets, and surely at least a few of them hae been eliminated or assimilated. Who still needs to be worked? Tell me and I will do it. |
| Deadly Assassin06-20-05, 10:20 AM | Sitting down in an empty chair, N'rik waited for a replay. |
| Iced06-27-05, 11:27 PM | Just a note to all members, there is a campaign going on for ELC3 Characters who are also members of the E.H.T.C. if you're evil, this is the place to be! Items, xp, gold, RP, etc. PM me if you're interested! |
| King Uther06-29-05, 12:32 PM | The Hands of Death had killed another political figure, this time the Secretary of Defense. Upon approaching, Virgo greets them with Griff and Va'ria. "Jindl is back in town. He refuses to go away. I believe you have unfinished business with him. Finish it. But try not to get caught. He needs to know he has enemies, not who they are." |
| Tellish_of_Ket06-30-05, 10:12 AM | A snort and a neight. The tromping of hooves. The discernable noise of a rider dismounting and approaching. People turn to the door to see who this may be. The city guard? Nah, they aren't brave enough to come down here. The nightwatchmen? No way, they've been paid well and warned. Who then? A gaunt pale figure steps through the door, eyes as white as sheets and whose skin is a dull grey tone. The people draw weapons and prepare for combat...THE UNDEAD! "No, wait. That's no undead. This thing breaths and despite the white eyes, there are visible pupils." Inside The Pale-Riders head, visions of memories from a time long past flash by in his mind. Visions of a great pale horse with glowing ember hooves riding a mere inches above the ground leaving no trace of it's passing. Memories of powerful gladiators of the past slain by his hand. The Harvester to name one. But where and why? Somehow, The Pale Rider no longer feels the power coursing through his veins. He remembers a "glitch" someone in his brain causing his life to be put on hold. Where he once held dominion over the arena and where all who faced him feared him, he now feels like only a shell of his former self. Reincarnation. His spirit lives, but his powers have faded with his old body and must now be re-built. "You better have a good reason for just barging in on us like that, or undeath or not, you soon will be." "I am The Pale Rider. Know me by no other name. Rumours of your petty squabbles and rabble-rousing differences is beggining to spread throughout the city and the relaying country-side. There are greater things at stake here rather than just our dominace over Gladius. We must prepare for war. An all out war. Not from our neighbours. Not from the self-righteous citizens. Not for the hypocratic self-serving do-gooder gladiators either. They come from a far away place. " "Well, c'mon boy before we gut ye...what are ya talkin' about?" "Jindl was not always so weak. Neither was I, neither were many gladiators of the same name that walk today. Everything was re-created. Gladius and all it's citizens were almost completely wiped out. All but a very small handful. The city you grew up in was filled with squabbles as it is now. Everyone interested in their own glory and fame. They all (but a few) ignored the warning signs of the impending invasion. Too consumed with their own stories and greed of conquest that the invasion was upon them with such haste it could not be stopped. Gladius was erased. History does not mention these facts because the few that survived thought it best not to mention this for fear it would paralyze it's new citizens. You see, the gladiators of Gladius were too big for their own britches. No one could put aside their differences to save themselves...good and evil. When the Githyanki came, it was a slaughter. It was too late to raise the defenses. We were slaughtered. Their great leader Winter T'Ok, challenged and slew the both harvesters in the central arena for all to see. The citizens were left without a champions to defend them and those few that did live crawled away never to return. It is said Winter T'Ok followed their damned souls to the Fugue plain where he raged a battle with the Master himself. A rematch from what I understand where from their first encounter (conveniently left out of the history books) when Winter T'Ok forced the Fugue Master to retreat. Oh yes some lived, a few who's names shall not be mentioned here today and even fewer stayed behind. They rebuilt gladius and put all the history back in place as though it never happened and simply "reset" Gladius. The Githyanki are aware of our re-built nation. The Githyanki will come again, and this time they will finish the job if we do not prepare ourselves." "Uhm ya right! BAHAHAHAHAH....BHAHAHAHAHAH! So you propose we ally with the goodies?" "NO, not at all. But while u pursue your own goals, remember this. The less we train, the less we pay attention to small clues and details of their second coming, the greater the chance we stand of being slaughtered once again." "Uhm, again, ye didn't mention a proposal. Unless i'm deaf of course. LOL." "You are not. My proposal is simple. We do what we have to do...we train like no other. Then......WE ATTACK! Strike the first blow. Wound them like they wounded us. Show that Gladius will not take anything standing still this time around and that it's not worth their time to conquer any longer. WE ATTACK!" And with that the crowd grew eerily silent. "For now, we rebuild our powers and our powerbase and in time, i will introduce you to the man who actually runs the show and the most secretive assassins guild that extends FAR beyond Gladius. By the way, he also has killed the Harvesters. muwhahahah" -ToK |
| King Uther06-30-05, 10:31 AM | "He speaks the truth." Virgo walked in, surprising everyone in the room. "This place was once bigger, and it soon shall match its previous size. The githyanki showed no mercy, and killed many innocent. And that is why they will die. Descend upon Gladius? They will never make it that far. I met Winter once, long ago. Next time she will perish. But speak no more of this, lest we invoke the suspicion of our enemies." |
| Tellish_of_Ket07-01-05, 12:46 AM | I see Griff, Va'ria and the Hands are in over their heads. "What? You doubt our own brothers? How dare you." "I do not doubt them. But praise the nimbus. This will be a good lesson taught to them. You do not attack a powerful foe with many weak foes. You overwhelm them with power of your own. Though i salute them for their efforts, they will know defeat before the sun breaks a new dawn. It is not a bad thing however and from this loss they can only learn. Finding out your own weaknesses and shoreing them up is also part of the learning process." "Boy, that's a lot of mumbo-jumbo. You sure you're right in the head?" "I walked Gladius and ruled it's arenas long before you were even concieved of as an afterthought. In this case, i believe my wisdom will supercede your arrogance and i take no slight to your remarks." And with that the pale gaunt figure retires to his room to continue with his arcane studies. -ToK |
| King Uther07-01-05, 11:03 AM | "Halt" The room began to shift in image, as spires of flame began to rise all around, raising the two evil warriors above a pit of lava. "I am more ancient than even this city. I have seen the creation of things and the destruction of many. And while I was sealed away for centuries, that does not make me any less powerful. What I am, that is a secret left for a better time." |
| Tellish_of_Ket07-01-05, 08:38 PM | The Pale-Rider turns to the life-like lava figures and takes a knee. "I understand what you are saying and i shall not push the issue. Oh great spirit, when you are ready to enlighten myself and my brothers, when you are ready to unlock all my memories of what what has transpired in the past, i will be willing and waiting." With that Pale-Rider rises from his knee as the figues sink back into lava (i'm assuming right? If they stay longer, lemme know) and shuts the door behind him. Making preperations to return to his studies and to retire for the evening. |
| Deadly Assassin07-03-05, 12:48 AM | Tapping her fingers on the table, Rick waits impatiently. Well, who's left that we want to get to "join" us? |
| Tellish_of_Ket07-14-05, 07:59 AM | I'm sure everyone has heard the news correct? So, what are we all waiting for? Let's go get 'em boys. uh.er...and girls. Letter to all members of the E.H.T.C.: My friends, War is brewing outside the city of Gladius, a horde of enemies lies in wait outside the walls in preparation to strike. Fellow members of the E.H.T.C. this is wonderful news! Indeed, this war could be a boon to our organization. With proper planning, and coordination the E.H.T.C. could become the sole provider of food and heavy weapons to the city of Gladius! The E.H.T.C. is growing, already we have established partial control over Gladius. It is time now to expand our influences outside of the city. In order to carry out our plans within Gladius, we must look without for further financial backing. There is a merchant that we have contacted by the name of Abiti Havas. Your mission will be simple: rendezvous with the merchant in the city of Greensbough. From him you will obtain his letters of trade and transit. There is a shipment of "acquired" goods bound for the coastal city of Fisher's Cove. You will after acquiring the letters of trade, "convince" this trade caravan to travel to Gladius. Use any methods necessary to ensure that these goods will be delivered in good condition. You are working under a four-week time frame my friends; it is essential that we receive these goods before the four weeks are up! If the caravan is late, the E.H.T.C. will have to find an alternate, and most likely costly route to smuggle the goods into the city. This mission will be dangerous. Due to this fact, and also due to the exceptional risk involved in this endeavor, the E.H.T.C. will offer payment upon the successful completion of this mission. Be warned that any loss of cargo will also reflect on your reputation as well as your payment. Good Luck my Fellows! |
| xanadu07-17-05, 07:30 PM | Tapping her fingers on the table, Rick waits impatiently. Well, who's left that we want to get to "join" us? "Just sitting there on your fat ass playing with your fingers isn't going to command any respect, let alone entice others to join," came a commanding voice from a mysterious female figure from across the room. Donned in overly large black robes to disguise the claws and other features of her draconic heritage, the figure moved forward... |
| Deadly Assassin07-18-05, 12:18 AM | "Just sitting there on your fat ass playing with your fingers isn't going to command any respect, let alone entice others to join," came a commanding voice from a mysterious female figure from across the room. Donned in overly large black robes to disguise the claws and other features of her draconic heritage, the figure moved forward... Fat? Ha, you must be talking about someone else. Unlike a lot of other women, I do not go about my days thinking I am eternally fat. I know that I am in shape, and a lot of dead men think I am their god because of my looks. And if no targets have been presented to me, how am I supposed to eliminate them and, thus, gain respect? Lastly, who said anything about anyone joining me? As much as I know that two heads are generally better than one, I do know how to do things by myself. |

"Silence," the figure uttered as she raised one of her arms. "You do not sit around and wait on your fat ass like a schoolgirl at a dance hoping a boy approaches. Do something useful and hunt down someone on your own initiative and prove yourself worthy," the 1/2 dragon said in a haughty tone as she walked away from the seated elf. |
| Deadly Assassin07-18-05, 04:35 PM | "Silence," the figure uttered as she raised one of her arms. "You do not sit around and wait on your fat ass like a schoolgirl at a dance hoping a boy approaches. Do something useful and hunt down someone on your own initiative and prove yourself worthy," the 1/2 dragon said in a haughty tone as she walked away from the seated elf. Who do you think you are, trying to order me around? You know nothing of me or how I work. I do not just kill randomly, as you suggest I should. That usually leads to snags-complications-which in turn lead to trouble. For instance, say I go out one day and see you walking along a dark alley, and, not knowing it is you, stab you in the back. What then? I have just killed a member of this group. Who says that I myself won't be slain for that mishap? No, it is better when someone presents a target. That way there are no mistakes, the elf responds. |
| King Uther07-20-05, 12:31 PM | "Silence," the figure uttered as she raised one of her arms. "You do not sit around and wait on your fat ass like a schoolgirl at a dance hoping a boy approaches. Do something useful and hunt down someone on your own initiative and prove yourself worthy," the 1/2 dragon said in a haughty tone as she walked away from the seated elf. "Power. Do you feel it? Coursing through your draconic blood? That is a gift meant only for the deserving. Strength and prowess unmeant for mortals, but given to them nonetheless. Do you use it fully?" |
| King Uther07-20-05, 02:07 PM | Political Power of the E.H.T.C.(Also in the first post): Members in Army 1. The Bandits of Luna Marsh(Ensidious Nyte and Baelin "Shadow") 2. The Gladius Clerics of Hextor (Virgo Arkazzan) Political Members 1. The Secretary of Commerce and Trade(Virgo Arkazzan) 2. The Secretary of Agriculture (Va'ria Theladrais) 3. The Head of the Iron Guard (Nell Leonne) |
| Altaris1307-21-05, 11:14 AM | The steady, measured tread of booted feet can be heard long before Aeryn himself appears from the hall. Aeryn's military training is immediately apparent in the near-march of his step, the wiry frame of his body and the rod-straight severity of his stance. A dark eyed gaze surveys the room, noting first the exits and potential obstacles before approaching the table. He address the room and those gathered, allowing his voice to drift across the conversations without bellowing. "Hail. I am called Aeryn, I have been summoned to serve the Glory of Hextor! I seek the ancient one, the one called 'Virgo.'" His voice is a harsh rasp, probably due to the nasty scarring that decorates much of his throat and the left side of his face. Aeryn turns to Draconis Regina, the soldier offers a slight bow from the waist, one hand upon the hilt of his rapier, right hand over his heart in a gesture of respect suitable to a stranger of unknown station. Standing straight, Aeryn addreses Regina in the wyrm tongue, his voice carefully neutral. "My lady dragon, direct me to the Secretary of Trade that I might bend knee in service." |
| King Uther07-21-05, 06:24 PM | A half-giant stood in the dorrway, watching the swagger of the militaristic human. "If you are so adamant about joining, then prove you have skills we need. And don't wory about kneeling. While I am the figurehead here, we are a council, each with there own strengths who have bonded together to enforce each other. If you wish to sit in the boardroom, you must pass a test." Basically do a Mini-Quest or Quest, and you are art of the "boardroom." You'll still be a part of the guild nonetheless, but the real "members" will be the ones who have done something for the cause. |
| Altaris1307-22-05, 10:21 AM | The soldier about-faces to see who is adressing him. Aeryn nods in understanding of the half-giant's words, and yet still offers him the same bow from the waist, one hand on hilt and the other over his heart. "Hail, Virgo, and well met. A test? Diplomacy is not my strong suit..." He says with a bit of a smile. "To speak plain, I am soldier-born but touched by faith. Though I have not the power of the gods, Hextor guides my hand. How may I serve the needs of this 'enlightened' company?" As he speaks, his gaze will meet the half-giants just long enough to be respectful before glancing about the room. |
| Pittbull07-22-05, 12:53 PM | A grey-dwarf enters the halls of the trading-company, looking around and then heading towards Virgo. " Hey big-guy, you look like the boss here! Is it good place here to get some special informations?" |
| Deadly Assassin07-22-05, 01:10 PM | Yelling began to arise, and soon the reason was apparent. An orc, or rather, a half-orc, carrying a greatsword over his shoulder, was roughly shoving people aside. When he got to the table, he looked around. Dropping the sword onto the table with a great thud! he spotted Virgo and intorduced himself in a deep voice that carried through the whole building. I am Skez. What do you need me to do? Whose head needs to be removed from its neck? |
| King Uther07-22-05, 01:21 PM | "Settle yourselves! There are some things you need to know before you proceed." The room began to darken as the walls faded away, revealing a hell-inspired landscape, complete with flames and tortured souls. Virgo turns towards the Duergar, nodding in approval of his professionalism. "You can find out anything here, grey dwarf, so long as you return the favor. I respect a direct approach done in a professional manner. You'll have my attention in a moment." He then turned towards Skez, with anger in his eyes. "Do not dare enter like that again! Without first introducing yourself you are likely to find a quick exit to the underworld! Power is a gift, and if you do not use it with discretion then you may find you lose it. This is a place of respect. We give it and in return get it back. That aside, I can give you work if you want it. I can always use a brute with no conscience. Are you that strong-willed?" The room began to fade back to normal, and Virgo's glowing red eyes replaced with his normal dark green. "Forgive me. Sometimes I lose my patience. Now, Skez, what is it you want?" Our numbers are growing fast. |
| Deadly Assassin07-22-05, 01:32 PM | Unphased by Virgo's show of power, Skez waits for him to finish talking before responding. What do I want? I want work, but know one thing. I do have a conscience, just not one affected by killing, maiming, slaughtering or the like. And I wouldn't mind a position of power in this city, but I can wait for that if need be. |
| Altaris1307-22-05, 01:39 PM | Aeryn watches queitly as things unfold, awaiting the pronouncement of his test. He blinks at the display of power and thinks to himself I'll be there one day, but this is not that day. I have more souls to claim for my God. He nods slightly to himself once things return to normal. I'm game for a miniquest. I don't intend to pitlord any time soon, so a quest is not an option. No credits... |
| King Uther07-22-05, 04:16 PM | I am now keeping tabs on EHTC members gladiator records. The first post now has this same table: Active Gladiator Rankings 1. Willbrock Stoneshaper - 8000[0-0] (Pittbull) 2. Nell Leonne - 4612[7-5] (Huan) 3. Virgo Arkazzan - 3491[4-1] (King Uther) 4. Griff Mythral - 2808[6-2] (Iced) 5. Baelin "Called the Shadow" - 2399[0-2] (Malither76) 6. Ensidious Nyte - 2374[2-4] (Arstimis) 7. Draconis Regina - 1731[2-0] (Xanadu) 8. Niccolo Ferrara - 1400[0-0] (Deadly Assassin) 9. Skez Dreadfury - 1100[1-0] (Deadly Assassin) 10. The Pale Rider - 1098[1-0] (Tellish of Ket) 11. Aeryn Valaer - 1000[0-0] (Altaris13) 12. Ariel the Fallen - 891[1-2] (Luni) |
| Deadly Assassin07-22-05, 05:05 PM | In that case, you forgot Rick's loss, Uther. :P  |
| xanadu07-22-05, 05:33 PM | "Power. Do you feel it? Coursing through your draconic blood? That is a gift meant only for the deserving. Strength and prowess unmeant for mortals, but given to them nonetheless. Do you use it fully?" "Yes power," Draconis nodded her head, "I feel it but the current governmental structure of Gladius prevents me from using it as I would wish. I am glad we see eye to eye on this. What shall you have me do to extend ETHC's rightful power over the unlawful existing Establishment?" |
| King Uther07-23-05, 01:20 AM | @ Deadly Assassin I didn't see her listed in the characters thread as active. |
| Pittbull07-23-05, 06:57 AM | Virgo turns towards the Duergar, nodding in approval of his professionalism. "You can find out anything here, grey dwarf, so long as you return the favor. I respect a direct approach done in a professional manner. You'll have my attention in a moment." Seeing the change in Virgo's eyes impresses Willbrock, sometimes it takes a little, until people show their true side, he thinks. "I can wait! My name is Willbrock Stoneshaper, let's discuss my issue, after your buiseness." |
| Deadly Assassin07-23-05, 09:04 AM | @ Deadly Assassin I didn't see her listed in the characters thread as active. She's not, but then again, neither is Niccolo, or Skez, for that matter. |
| TelinArtho07-26-05, 01:55 PM | Sometime in the night, painted upon the side of a building, two buildings away from the EHTC, is a palm and a man standing upon it. In the background is a strange runic gate which seems to fortell of things to come forth. The man is holding in one hand a stone and in the other a flail. His facial features are blank, but for a sinister sneer across his mouth. |
| nightbanegod07-26-05, 05:10 PM | as the rather scrawny yet strangly tall elf enters eyeing the motley asembly of faces in this "Guild" with contempt, Dalamar ponders the posibilites, recognizing almost imediately the aura of power surrounding Vigro...Perhaps i have come to the right place he thinks to himself. "My name is Dalamar Ohmsford, and i care little for the power struggles of the guilds or politics ... i have no love except for "The Art". are you able to help me in my pursuits or not?" Thinking over his comment ... and knowing there nothing else to be said on the matter,he proceeds with a delicate gesture and a few words of "The Art" the air shimmers in front of him and a pathetic Baatezu(lemure) appears. The anguished expresion on this creatures face alone tells how much it loaths each and every person present ... but none more than its summoner yet again... "Fetch me a chair, slave..." Dalamar says in the language of the great wyrms. The pathetic Devil is naught but helpless to comply, and content with his "Flexing", Dalamar seats himself awaiting an answer... |
| King Uther07-27-05, 09:57 AM | Virgo turns towards Willbrock, addressing him politely and with respect. "Now, what is it I can help you with?" Afterwards, Virgo turns towards Ohmsford, and with a simple answer seats himself. "Yes." |
| Pittbull07-27-05, 11:59 AM | @KU: Willbrock will offer his service to the E.H.T.C. in exchange for some information, I like to do a Quest with him, but not in the next two weeks. If you have something suitable, just call. Thanks! You must be Virgo Arkazzan! I heard a lot of you. I'm new in this town and need some help in my own business. Where I come it's usual to offer you own service in exchange for the other's and I hope your willing to make a deal. My honor commands me to make the first step, so do you need any helping hand? |
| TelinArtho07-27-05, 12:01 PM | A man in cleric's robes descends into the darkness of the EHTC. Fresh from his defeat in the Arena, he appears determined and angry. Silently he chastises himself for not being patient with his summoned armies and that he will never falter again. He looks up, suddenly aware that others are looking at him in the room and summons a hawk to sit upon his shoulder, a twisted hawk with feathers the color of fire and eyes that burn with a cool knowledge. He has it fly about the room once or twice and after about 1/2 a minute it disappears, leaving nothing to indicate where it once was. I am Kraegin, student of Villik Baskia and follower of Denth the Summoner. Denth has requested I serve the needs of the Enlightened Ones, and so I am here. Before I produce something for this belly however, I am looking for information - for other followers of Denth. Has anyone heard anything? Kraegin will be seeking to go on a quest in short order to find other followers of Denth (not to get them as cohorts or anything, just to find them and spread the name of Denth). Any questlords who would be available in a week or two? Kraegin sits among the others in the room, staring at a plain wall. He has plans to scribe Denth's symbol there - but first he must find out if Hextor is willing to play a secondary role... |
| Altaris1307-27-05, 12:10 PM | Aeryn follows in the Cleric, having left for his battle in the Arena. His eyes are slightly glazed from the recent defeat, death, and subsequent resurrection by the Nimbus. The scarred and soldierly fellow stands off to the side, his eyes watching the others. His questions from afore remain unanswered, and so he remains quiet. I will be given a task in time. Many are coming to this guild, many dark hearts greedy for power. I will ease my feet among them, and pit fight until my skills are needed. |
| King Uther07-27-05, 12:24 PM | "Halt Aeryn. If you need a task, sit down with me to discuss it. There are many things to be done yet still, many hearts to darken further." Virgo sees his enthusiasm, and decides to put it to use. Any who want a quest or mini-quest, it is as easy as asking. There are infinite good people to kill. PM me and we'll see what happens. |
| Altaris1307-27-05, 05:29 PM | As only a man of discipline can do, Aeryn halts and turns on a his heel at the Secretary's command. "I hear, and obey, Lord Secretary." His eyes glitter with the memory of defeat, and the need to prove himself. "I recall noticing a paladin patroling the... less savory parts of the city. He was human, and typically arrogant of the self-righteous. Unless you have a particular task in mind, I would seek your permission to remove this eventual thorn before it can seed and grow." |
| Deadly Assassin07-27-05, 10:38 PM | Waiting for a reply, Skez thudded down into a chair. So, ladies and gent's, what is the big plan for this city? |
| King Uther07-28-05, 12:40 AM | "Fine. We have enough people. For those who have not seen the vision, I will show it to you. This city was built by those who took what they wanted. Now it is ruled by a bureaucratic department of sedated morons who deserve nothing more than to lose their precious city. We have all the power, and slowly we will integrate ourselves into every facet of Gladius society, so that when we strike it will be swift and unstoppable. If you stay by my side all of your ambitions shall come true. All of them are within your grasp." Virgo waits patiently, allowing everyone to swallow that before continuing. |
| Altaris1307-28-05, 11:21 AM | OOC: *idly wonders if he can assassinate Saya's new pet raptor...* :D IC: Aeryn remains standing where he was, absorbing the truth of Virgo's words. "This city is fat on on its own success. The guards are weak-willed and easily bought. The citizens are blinded by the glow of Gladius's beauty. So long as we are careful in our planning, precise in our execution, and reserved in our excess, then we shall come to rule this city with an iron fist, and all show know our power. By Hextor's will! Aery's eyes glow with the glory he envisions, a raptorous faith pervading his being. |
| Deadly Assassin07-28-05, 04:44 PM | Well, I can help take out someone, or someones, if you need, granted, stealth is not my strong suit. I'm more of a "go in guns blazin' and blow everything up when I'm done" kinda guy. Anything you need done? |
| nightbanegod07-28-05, 05:42 PM | "Ahem, guns blazing?", dalamar begins to ponder the lack of finesse..."With the apropriate payment in gains in "The Art", i would be willing to accept most any task, and i assure you *Guns Blazing* is NOT the only way things get done. Perhaps if there is a position in which i would be able to regulate the flow of studies in the arcane or a postition requiring less military action i could fill... however my duties to any politics comes last to my studies." |
| King Uther07-28-05, 06:30 PM | "Dalamar, if study is what you seek, then I do have a job for you. The Arcane Brotherhood is both troublesome and now weakened. We need a spy, one who would fit in perfectly and could infiltrate the vast information network they have. What do you think?" |
| nightbanegod07-28-05, 07:02 PM | Lips curling at the meer thought of the posibilities..."Ineed, i do believe that you have found a most suiting excersize of my skills. When will i be joining my new found allies, and to what extent should i destroy them? or perhaps you would rather i rule them like the master i am? OoC: i got a one week family reunion coming up this saturday where ill be gone till august 7th...IN VEGAS!!! but in any event i doubt ill be able to post in that time frame. however if i can ill let ya know, if so i would be ready to mini quest (seeing as i have no credits for a full blown quest that i would prefer) immediately. |
| King Uther07-28-05, 07:53 PM | In order for a guild to be official, it has to have requirements. I just made them. They are very easy, and designed to show true allegiance. If you look at the first page, you'll see that in order to be an "official" member, a miniqeust or quest for the guild must be completed. Plus every quest or miniquest done further enriches the storyline of theguild, as well as Gladius as a whole. If you have any questions about any of that, my PM box is always open. By the way, our powerlevel is significantly above any guild ever created here. |
| Altaris1307-29-05, 09:20 AM | That's cool! And from what I've seen, it is because of your dedication Uther. |
| Iced07-29-05, 10:52 AM | OoC: Yeah Uther you'vre really made this whole thing fly with everyone. Anixx sreides up to the table. Though of smaller build and less muscular than many of the orcs here, he still radiates an aura of confidence as he strides through the room that makes everyone stand away from him. His armor seems to shine even in the shadows, his sword gleams, and his whole being seems to be infused with divine energy. He halts before Vigro and turns to adress the entire room, "The tides of war are turning here to Gladius, I have seen and I know that this city will be hard pressed by enemies on all sides, enemies from without, and enemies from within. Our newest enemy is clever, he will attempt to corrupt and turn the politicians of the city against eachother. Civil discord will allow them to take Gladius. This must not happen. Already we have gained power, we have gained allies, now is the time to call upon the clerics of Hextor and the bandits of Luna Marsh. We will need the strongest of our magics which makes Dalamar Ohmsford's task all the more important. We must replace the politicians and call all the aid we can to ward our home and save Gladius!" |
| Deadly Assassin07-29-05, 11:52 AM | "...and i assure you *Guns Blazing* is NOT the only way things get done." Hmph! Did I say that was the only way to do things? No. I said that's how I do things. I'm not built or trained for stealth, but I can keep a secret even unto death. |
| nightbanegod07-29-05, 03:32 PM | Hmph! Did I say that was the only way to do things? No. I said that's how I do things. I'm not built or trained for stealth, but I can keep a secret even unto death. with a sly grin..."Alas, i mean no offense... directly...i am just of a more methodical and calculated mind and prefer to handle things meticulously. it is how I do things. |
| King Uther07-30-05, 02:10 AM | Iced does have a campaign for the members here. We should get that going soon if you guys are game. Also, for future reference, I would like you to put the name of the character in the title of the post, so it is easy for any reader to pick up. "The tides of war are coming. Slowly, true, but they are nevertheless approaching. The "heroes" here are taking care of much of it, just as they should. Simply put, many of this "threat" will be useful to us as our enemies numbers will surely falter. But nonetheless we must protect Gladius, for in the end it is ours. And protecting it ensures status as heroes, giving us all the more clout to succeed." |
| Iced08-01-05, 12:28 AM | Anixx turns to Vigro and gives a respectful nod, "Wise coucil indeed Vigro, we must turn our enemies against eachother, whittle away at their strength, and when the time comes to strike, our foes will already be defeated. The threat approaches, this is a delicate time indeed. If we falter now and draw undue attention we may be drawn into open warfare, and that would prove the slow destruction of all our goals. Our long-term planning and meticulous preparation must come to fruition as flawless as the dam that holds back the sea." |
| Iced08-01-05, 01:20 AM | OoC: Anixx will miniquest for the E.H.T.C. the week after next to gain full membership. Any ideas on the quest goal? |
| xanadu08-01-05, 12:58 PM | The half-dragon walked in with dark robes covering her non-humanoid features and confidently proclaimed, "The miserable Klaus, the referee who was utterly ungrateful towards our kind and cheated us constantly, is no more. His timely death will mean our gladiators should now have a fair fight." She then laughed and remarked, "Ha! This is not good enough! We need to corrupt the judging so it favors us!" |
| King Uther08-03-05, 01:23 AM | "You have done well Draconis. You deserve a seat in our dark council." Virgo smirks a little, as the dark deeds of his peers will echo for all to fear. I will do a MQ for anyone that wants to gain full access to the guild. There are actual RL advantages, such as when I picked up Ariel's fight this week. I, as the guildlord, will try to be available at all times for the characters who are a part of this. So far I have Dalamar, Anixx, Aeryn, and Rick wanting to do a Q or MQ. Anyone else? |
| TelinArtho08-03-05, 12:54 PM | @KingUther - I sent a few PMs yesterday to confirm my quest with Kraegin. Sorry to be a nag, but I want to make sure I start this week (or at the very least get paired, since he is listed as going on a quest currently). |
| Malither7608-04-05, 04:24 PM | A hooded man walks in a little out of breath, Stupid mages, why couldn't he just had some fighters for guards.. He looks around and gathers his thoughts..Virgo... what have you done, I go on a few jobs, been gone for about a month and look at all these new faces, well done my friend The man walks over to a chair and sits. Still no word from Nyte huh, oh well, looks like the Right Hand of Death is all that remains... so is there anything pressing that I have missed or need to know about, looks like the guild grows on and many new faces here so thats a positive. He leans back in the chair, streching out and relaxes |
| nightbanegod08-09-05, 12:17 AM | Walking in with a cocky and smug air about himself reminiscing about his most recent arena fight"As much as i detest the brutishness of this arena combat, I did rather enjoy singeing that half-pint fighter. Now, perhaps we could get on with this business of affirming membership or somesuch. I would prefer to perform some task regarding an addition to my spell book. On the other hand , if you wish to expedite my infiltration of this so-called "guild" of magi, i would be compliant, However, I do have my priorities..." Again summoning the same poor demon to do his bidding, Dalamar seats himself..."...And do make your decision of my proposal in a timely manner, seeing as i have business of the mercantile to conduct before i set off to areas of Gladius unknown." |
| King Uther08-10-05, 02:52 PM | I'll give you some roleplay soon, Dalamar. The standings have been updated. We have grown to a power level of 103! |
| Luni08-10-05, 03:31 PM | Ariel comes in and say, "I am sorry for the lack of help I've been to the E.H.T.C. so far. I shall return in a few weeks. And after saying that, she leaves. Ariel will return in a few weeks. I am currently working on a couple quests I want to take her on. As soon as I am done with the quests, she shall come back. |
| nightbanegod08-10-05, 04:40 PM | "Sigh..." Dalamar patiently waits. All the while being amused by his familiar pecking at that poor wretch. Smirking in draconic "... indeed, from now on i shall call you wretch!!!", with a grotesque contortion of its face, the Baatezu vanishes as its summoning spell expires..."Hmm, Untill next time, Wretch" |
| Tellish_of_Ket08-10-05, 06:23 PM | Let us not forget that there is also a campaign for us members waiting to go. Missions Abroad (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=447228) For one, i've been waiting for 2 months to go on it...lol. -ToK |

| Tellish_of_Ket08-15-05, 12:57 PM | Did i hear properly that Missions Abroad is ready to begin soon? Who's all going? -ToK |
| nightbanegod08-15-05, 04:32 PM | well i would like to sign up Dalamar up for missions abroad but i dont have any credits... any helpers? |
| Altaris1308-15-05, 05:25 PM | Hey ToK! I sent a PM about joining this too, but I (also) don't yet have the credits. |
| Iced08-16-05, 01:32 AM | hey apply characters in the thread if you're interested |
| nightbanegod08-16-05, 05:13 PM | @ iced do we need credits to get into your missions abroad and/or will there be exceptions? |
| King Uther08-17-05, 12:35 AM | 5 credits will be the cost, as per all campaigns. Being the father of the guild, I will be willing to help you out if you meet me halfway. It doesn't take much to earn 2-3 credits. |
| Altaris1308-17-05, 06:52 AM | That'd be awesome Uther! I've got 3 credits as of this week, so if we wait a week or two I should be OK to pay myself. |
| Tellish_of_Ket08-17-05, 09:30 AM | @ICED Hey, i see you have DA's character there as ready to go. He hasn't been around in almost 3 full weeks. Last i heard he was having problems with comp and work, so unsure if you might wanna look for a replacement for him. -ToK |
| nightbanegod08-17-05, 03:47 PM | well i plan on trying my hand at running arena fights and en mass so i should be able to throw together some credits but i might not be able to do much postings next week ... ill try tho... |
| King Uther08-18-05, 06:56 PM | In the light of new guilds arriving soon, I ask that anyone with an active character they like to stay here. We have a unique storyline shaping up, and as the weeks go by we will get closer to a goal. The main objective is clearly a takeover of Gladius. Not necessarily in the violent overthrowing of the government, but by taking over every facet of Gladius society. |
| Altaris1308-18-05, 07:03 PM | The only place Aeryn is going may be retirement. But I'm keeping him here. Can I make him inactive & continue membership? I am still undecided about him though, b/c I do want to continue working with and for the EHTC. |
| nightbanegod08-18-05, 07:04 PM | "Whats this? New guilds you say? Perhaps i should pay them my respects and burn them down while they sleep... Perhaps..." Consider Dalamar in for the long haul |
| King Uther08-18-05, 07:06 PM | Well, retired characters will still exist here, but I prefer that if you don't want to play Aeryn or like a different build then consider adding him as well. |
| nightbanegod08-18-05, 07:22 PM | :D nothing like adding new characters to the guild to pump up your official power rating right? |
| Altaris1308-18-05, 09:42 PM | I had thought of bringing in a new PC here. But I like the character. His build just seems... weak... You know, all those crazy one-shot kills PCs are stomping me a mudhole. |
| nightbanegod08-18-05, 10:01 PM | dude ... anyway you look at it ... 6 HP is 6 HP :weep: |
| Altaris1308-18-05, 10:05 PM | dude ... anyway you look at it ... 6 HP is 6 HP :weep: :heehee Wrong PC Nightbane. Mini has the 6hp. I am perfectly willing to wait until she is ECL 5 or 6... Then we'll see just how truly nasty Minesbiggerinyers will get. Aeryn is the one I expected to perform better (freaking bounced checks & freaking dice gawds!!!) :D |
| nightbanegod08-18-05, 10:27 PM | (freaking bounced checks & freaking dice gawds!!!) :D i hear that brutha!!! |
| Emrys Donovan09-05-05, 02:45 AM | A tall, figure walked into the building, his face obscured by the low hood of a cloak. However, twin points of light could be seen from under the lip of the hood and, though the pricks of light didn't move, one could sense the man was scanning the room. As he walked, the jingling of chains could be heard. Some of the more timid patrons of the building edged out of the newcomer's path as he made his way to the table. Throwing his cloak behind his shoulders and lowering his hood, the man revealed himself. He was big for a human, and very tan. His head was bald, and a pagan cross was emblazoned on his chest. After everyone had stopped what they were doing, he addressed them in a deep, gutteral voice. "My name is Maximus Steelfist. I prefer to be called 'Maximus' or, if I get to like you, just 'Max.' I am looking for a job. Previous experience has me leaning towards a bodyguard or escort of sorts, though I will do anything to gain political power. Are there any requirements to join this...table? If so, tell me now so I may complete them and bring to their knees those that do not deserve to wield true power." After his introduction, Maximus went over to a wall and awaited a reply, examining his chain as he waited. |
| nightbanegod09-05-05, 03:59 AM | stumbling into the room with a look of absolute irritation, the elven mage mumbles a few words and with a wave of his hand a lemure appears."FETCH ME A CHAIR!!" demands the mage. The throughly anguished devil complies. "When i get my hands on that boy...trying to take my gold...probably had a hand in that cat attacking me...*mumble mumble*. Sure, i can prove my vast superiority in that wretched arena, even slew two people simultaneously i might add, but that cat gave me a harder time than i would have liked!! eyeing the lemure in front of him, and noting that it was still there, remembered his recent advancements in "the art" in draconic he says"And where were you when i needed you, you little wretch. I should expect you to cower and not show when my life was in danger. Know this, you will suffer for your insolence. sneering at the lemure, Dalamar waved his hand and the creature vanished. It was about then that he remembered the creature could only show itself when he summoned it. Hmm, he thought to himself, perhaps the creature could suffer anyways for my troubles and perhaps my amusement. Remembering where he was, he quickly gathered his composure and cast a simple spell *mending* the damage to his robes and wiping any grime from his face. "Ahh Virgo, my good man, I thought i might find you here. Perhaps you would be interested to know that, so far, i have successfully gained entrance to the Brotherhood and expect to be rising in rank there in the near future. And on another note, i would like to know if you, perhaps, have come across any information regarding a wizards library that i might be able to *aquire* in the interests of furthering my research? I would be most appreciative with my talents." this is where i begin fishing for a Quest to go on that would let me aquire a spell book of various spells that i would not find in the PHB or DMG or SRD since they might come from other source books. please? |
| King Uther09-05-05, 11:38 AM | You would need to ask Cat first about that. |
| Emrys Donovan09-11-05, 04:36 PM | A small figure, draped in a cloak and capped in reddish-brown hair down to their back, walked into the building. The person was obviously female, but her face was obscured due to the fact that she had her head down. Sitting down in a vacant chair, the woman lifted her head, revealing her stunning features. She was clearly a half-elf. She had the pointy ears, the angular face, and the stunning beauty. However, she wasn't pale like her elven family; her skin had a fair, even tan. Placing her bow upon the table, her green eyes glittered like emeralds as they scanned the room, glancing at those seated around the table, settling on the hulk of a man who seemed to be leading things. |
| Emrys Donovan09-13-05, 08:19 PM | A silky voice issued from the slender woman now seated at the table. All the eyes in the room, especially those belonging to male specimens, turned towards the girl. "Hello, my name is Kristina Blacke. How may my services be of use to you?" |
| Sindorin09-13-05, 09:39 PM | Even as Kristina offered her services to the occupants of the room, energy began swirling in a far corner of the room, which was unoccupied. To those who had experienced death within the city of Gladius, there became a dominant smell of saffron leaves as a misty greenish-gray smoke began seeping from a crack that had appeared in the ground. Slowly the gas seemed to thicken, until it began taking shape as a beautiful slender elf with fair skin and jet black hair. Those who had been with the East Habari Trading Company would recognize her and likely fear her. Those who had not been with the company until now would recognize her as the one elected as Secretary of Agriculture. If one had not been in Gladius long enough to witness this as well, the reaction of her appearance by others would be warning well-enough. Va'ria was in love with Virgo Arkazzan, madly in love with him... until the day he killed her. She had not wished to be resurrected by the Nimbus for some time... until now. Her closed eyes now opened, and she surveyed the room, coldly. She had fortunately been clothed in death, so she reappeared clothed instead of nude. "So many new faces... are any of them for killing?" She speaks, walking over to the newcomer and past her, around her, looking her over and sizing her up as Kristina sat in the chair in which she had appeared... "Are you the one he replaced me with? Or are you another one of his mistresses that he never told me about? It matters not. Simply tell Virgo that Va'ria was looking for him. Tell him that I have something for him, will you please?" She says and asks this of Kristina, bending low and close to the side of her face, where Va'ria then gives her a silent and quick kiss on her temple. The touch of her dark lips sent a chill through Kristina that would have convulsed her briefly had the room not already been dank and somewhat cool. "I imagine one of these blokes that I haven't seen here before will likely be more than eager to help you get started here. Welcome to the East Habari Trading Company..." Va'ria then presses a switch that is on a wall where a torch is mounted, and a door that was previously hidden opens, through which she then disappears... |
| Iced09-13-05, 10:20 PM | Va'ria quietly sits at her place at the table, regarding the insidious gnome coolly. Her eyes begin glowing blue as she looks over at him. His magic is simply childsplay compared to my own now after the training I have endured from Tair Malek... Griff Mythal slides back to his earlier position in the shadows and allows his wand hand to slide out of the ready position. Va'ria has returned. This is indeed an occurence of some import. Griff smiles grimly. I wonder if she will want those spellbooks back now? It has been long since she plied her powers here, and she has not come to know of my growing skills. Once she counted me weak, a memory that I still hold. Once she dismissed my powers as youthful confidence, no longer. Now is the time where Griff Mythal will prove his true mettle. Va'ria will come for me, and when she does, I will be waiting. Griff silently turns upon the great table that was the center of the first exploits of the Enlightened Ones and silently sweeps down the passage to his quarters. Indeed, I shall be waiting... |

"I do not know who he is, but I certainly have replaced no one, and am surely no one's mistress but Death's alone. I am new to this...place...and am merely looking for an outlet for my...skills. But yes, I will pass the word onto this Virgo for you." |
| Emrys Donovan09-14-05, 06:05 PM | Getting up from her chair, Kristina walked over to the half-giant, Virgo. "I assume you are Virgo. I have a message for you from Va'ria. She told me to tell you she was looking for you and has something for you." With that, Kristina turned on her heel and promptly returned to her seat, idly checking the stringing of her bow. |
| Iced10-05-05, 07:21 PM | The servant padded up to knock lightly an the door to Anixx's quarters holding his customary candle and flagon of wine. Hearing no response from within, the servant knocked once more a trifle more forcefully. Maybe he hasn't heard me, the chambermaid thought, but even with the more insistent knocking no stirrings came from inside the chamber. Frowning slightly, the Chamber servant called softly, "Master Anixx, I come bringing your candle and beverage for the night. Shall I return later sir?" Not a single sound emerged. Frowning more deeply, the maid set down the flagon of wine and reached forthe handle of the door. Turning the ornate knob, she opened the portal and beheld a gruesome sight. Candles flared about the room. An altar set in the center pulsed with its own inner light as it dripped purple radience that spread like fog over the entire room. Grinning skulls stared from corpses that were just beginning to lose their flesh and rot. Yet, something was amiss. The torces that should have warmed the room from their wall brackets flamed as eagerly as ever, but from the room issued a deep penetrating cold. A cold that seemed to wrap around the hapless chambermaid and hold her rooted in terror. The candle dropped from shaking fingers as she stumbled from the room with a cry, slamming the door and running as fast as she ever had in her life from Anixx's chambers. She didn't see the grinning skeletons outside the doors in adjacent alcoves grin as the resheathed heavy swords, nor did she see the flaming skull that appeared soon after her departure. A grinning apparation that surveyed the room from the altar before disappearing with a whoosh of disturbed air. All was silent in Anixx's spell chamber, all was still, and all had ceased to live. |
| Emrys Donovan10-24-05, 04:25 PM | From Carrying Your Own Weight (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=510941) "Well, while I was...persuading...Shigou Aram Tinito to join our cause, a band of orcs attacked. I killed their leader, but never saw what happened to the rest of them. They may have been just another band of orcs, but then again, they might not have been. Either way, if what's left of them could be tracked down, we could try to convince them to help us by attacking the city. In the confusion, we could snatch what remains of the city. What do you guys think?" Maximus looked around at the other Enlightened Ones for opinions. |
