| cellardweller08-20-04, 10:24 AM | I am about to start on a side-project to produce a general purpose Pitlording program to help with running fights. I'm just starting the initial design and I want input from the CoCo community. My question to you is, If you had the ideal software tool for pitlording CoCo fights, what would it do? Here's some ideas I had off the top of my head to get you started: - Track positions in 2d or 3d - Determine Cover and LoS - Track rounds, Spells, hp etc - Be able to handle custom maps - SRD quickfind - Format fight in vB Code - Produce a "map image" showing movements throughout the fight. Coding is expected to begin in 2 weeks. |
| Moherajikuyx08-20-04, 10:30 AM | :-O what a task! Compliments cd! My suggestions, in order of importance (as I see it): 1 autoroll reactive hide & silent (with the link to krisinchico roller) 2 randomize guessed position (from a <20 succesful listen) ^ basically, a place with the auto generated links for the online roller would be enough 3 give a way to decode some crypted strings to hide memmed spells on the boards? Highly opinable... |
| Druid Roxors08-20-04, 10:33 AM | Add: - Roller - Output file. (You download the fight and load it in your computer (that has your program installed) so you can get several images of the same fight or check validity of the rolls.) And I think this is going to be an excelent addition to the CoCo. Thanks alot for giving us some of your time to develop this project!! :) |
| Caterane08-20-04, 11:56 AM | As for cover and LOS I can help. I posted this program (made for CoCo) some days ago but no one commented it!! CoCo Cover and LOS program (www.sebastian-sutor.de/coco/start.html) Please check it out and give some feedback!! |
| LLMadCow08-20-04, 12:14 PM | @Cellardweller - Awesome, dude! Input 1. Area Spell Tracking - Entangle, Obscuring Mist, Wall of Fire etc. 2. I would prefer 2d with Elevation markers. 3. I am sure I have more ideas, I will reply again tonight. |

| SnarkHunter08-20-04, 02:11 PM | Cat I don't use it often because its not compatible with Fire Fox, and I dislike Internet Explorer greatly. |
| Caterane08-21-04, 09:31 AM | Hm, Firefox has no ActiveX. That makes it secure but limits its options. Why not go over to Mag's and try it from there? |
| Magagumo08-21-04, 11:56 AM | Cause I believe I'm the one who introduced Firefox to Snark, andunfortunately dislike IE as much. Now that that is stopping me, I just haven't taken a look at the program yet... |
| Battousai200508-21-04, 07:32 PM | I love this idea. It's not so much that similar systems are hard to find, but one tailored specially for pitlording use in COCO would be very, very welcome. Callardweller, good luck. I hope this turns out well. It will certainly be welcome in my eyes I like the above ideas. Here are some more. -Status monitor and modifyer. Ex: reminders that entangle grants dex penalties and needs concentration check DC 15. -Ammo counter. Enilias only has so many arrows. With, what, 4 attacks a round? Kinda hard to track, no? Otherwise, for other ideas, I recommend taking a look at DMGenie for ideas. I used it for a while but got fed up with the enter gladiator, movement, enter rolls, blah blah blah. |
| Caterane08-23-04, 03:44 PM | The coolest thing would be to copy/paste the tactics into the program, hit [OK] and get the fight with positions, rolls, and everything. Include a typo and grammar program (not necessarily for me, right MB ;)) and a german-spanish translation matrix. Other useful options would be: "CoCo Advertisment Pop ups throughout the Web", "Dispersing Battousai's signature", and "Blocking Jindl's IP" LOL |
| SnarkHunter08-23-04, 04:31 PM | Yeah but then we'd just spend all our time screaming at CD that he programed it wrong . |
| Beldin09-06-04, 02:34 PM | 1. autoroll reactive hide & silent 2. randomize guessed position 3. rolls saved online on a die roller are the most important; the ... take 10 rule would be no more and a pitlord could finish a Kiri fight in less than a day! |
