| SavonDrake01-18-08, 10:37 PM | Well, to put it bluntly... I need help :( I have the roles of 18, 17, 16, 16, 15, and 14. I want to get a good class to optimive my options and I need some help with a few things. -Edit- Forgot to say, Savon Crestfallen is a Factotum -Edit- 1) Role Placement: I know that my 18 will be INT and 17 DEX, but I need help with the rest, please help. 2) Race: I am looking for a race that gives me a +4 INT without Level Ajustments, if I cannot get some help with this, I will be a Sun Elf or Fire Elf, but still need te help on desideing. 3) Outside Battle: I am stuck between the chous of being the knolage fountain or a peace maker, need help with that. I have already made my mind for In Battle, but I need some help with the Put of Battle. 4) History: I know no character is fully compleate without a history, I am finding it hard, however, to find a good outline for my character. He was one of thoughs kids who spent almost all day inside the library. Thats it for now, thanks in advance for all the help. |

I want to get a good class to optimive my options and I need some help with a few things. 1) Role Placement: I know that my 18 will be INT and 17 DEX, but I need help with the rest, please help. Wizard, the dex will help you with AC, and the int with your spell casting. (Core) Warlock, there are plenty of inovations that are not saves or sucks. (Complete Arcane, but any book with magic in it will help you) Beguiler. The skill monkey caster, with int for casting. (PHB II) Rogue: Get something or another to get that extra point of dex, and tada! Warblade: Meleer that can be made into a dex monkey and uses INT (Tome of Battle) Swordsage: You might need a boost of WIS, but you could probably swing it 2) Race: I am looking for a race that gives me a +4 INT without Level Ajustments, if I cannot get some help with this, I will be a Sun Elf or Fire Elf, but still need te help on desideing. ...I doubt atht +4 INT without any LA is going to exist. I don't know of one off the top of my head. 3) Outside Battle: I am stuck between the chous of being the knolage fountain or a peace maker, need help with that. I have already made my mind for In Battle, but I need some help with the Put of Battle. That depends on your class. Take a class with extra skill points, and now you can convince, intimidate, or what have you. 4) History: I know no character is fully compleate without a history, I am finding it hard, however, to find a good outline for my character. He was one of thoughs kids who spent almost all day inside the library. Then how did he get the high DEX? the stats are best left to the CharOP boards, but if you decide on a class, it might help matters a bit. A Dex/INT monkey leaves a bunch of options. |
| SavonDrake01-18-08, 11:11 PM | Thanks, but I did forget to put something didn't I, man I am stupid ^^; The character class is a factotum. But basicly I was hopeing for some advice for the placment for the 16, 16, 15, and 14. And, I guess thats ok for a +4 int races, I was hopeing for one. I'l just go with the fire or sun elf. For the skills, I was thinking of the "knowlage" skills because I have the highest INT even without the fire/sun elf race. ^^ But thanks for the help, I was hopeing you could help with a story base, but thatnks for your help. |
| ObscureInfo01-18-08, 11:17 PM | With stats like that, you could be anything. Really. Paladin, Monk, Wizard, Druid, Fighter, Rogue or Bard. Why do you need such a high Int? Especially when you haven't decided on the class. +4 Int racially is unheard of. There might be a race, but it most definitely has a LA. If you want to be the fount of knowledge, go with Wizard or Bard. But if you want to go peacemaker, go with Bard or Cleric. If you wanted a cool character concept, instead of Wizard, go Bard. You have sat around the bars and inns of the coastal town you grew up in and learned all about faraway places and people and monsters. So instead of Books, your guy is the man of a million stories. Don't worry so much about perform and other bardic music abilities, focus more on the spells and skills. |

Con being one of the best things you could have and STR being the carrying copasity, some have +4 in there without a LA. |
| I_roll_ones01-18-08, 11:31 PM | Strength however, is vital to hit things and you can take a lessened CON if you have enough AC. Casters frequently pick one or the other. Also, +4 to a stat is more then -2 to two others. I'd just pick one with +2 INT, it's really the best you'll get with no LA. Sun elf works well, I don't know about the fire elf. (Don't know what they are) Factorum, however is not my strong point, as I don't really know anything about them. But since this is a backstory forum, can you give the fluff for your character/class? As for forgetting to put down class, everyone forgets something like that once in a while. |
| SavonDrake01-18-08, 11:41 PM | Ok, I am thinking of a +2 Dex and +2 Int with a -2 Con and -2 Str with Grey, or a +2 Int and a -2 Con with Sun, I am thinking of the Grey Elf. And, well, My character was a book worm at youth, dering his transition He ether ran out of books to read, of read/did something that his village/town didn't appreceate so he was banished, his deity is one of knowlage. Almost forgot the Class, and name (again) His name is Savon Crestfallen, (before he started wondering, his name was Savon Dreamblade) and he is a factotum, the "jack-of-all-trades" As people say. (Also, you dont know me, 9/10 of the time, I forget something importent.) -Edit- Worked on My guy some more, desided that he was bannished (far as I got from background) But he was given some tools to hunt and servive on his on for a bit untill he got to a diffrent city/village. | Terjon of the Blue Rose01-19-08, 07:50 AM | I think he needs help from both. Here's a suggestion on background. Lemme know close or far I came to your intent. Savon was born into a city of the wealthy and privledged. The whole of its populace was centered around serving a select few but the constant flow of coin kept all in good stead. The nobles and merchant lords who passed through treated the people with respect and dignity and in return were treated as respected members of the community. Savon like many yearned for the day he would be treated as they were. Others had reached great status through service but he wanted his due now. He had seen others who were young and yet could afford his city's luxuries. The powerful and able bands of adventurers who would spend coin like they were on the brink of death had just return from such. He saw all they had and wanted it himself. And so he studied. Savon studied while the other children were learning the lessons of their fathers and taking up trades that would, in time, earn them their own place of respect and wealth. It didn't matter the subject it only mattered that he could use it to show his use to one of the travelling bands who would rest in his city. Stealth as he crept through the libraries into forbidden stacks of lost knowledge. Magic from anyone who knew even a little. Swordplay while feigning to be the adoring fan of some "hero" who was passing through and had done nothing of consequence. For almost 5 years Savon studied. His studies came with their own cost. He was shunned by much of his community. He was seen as a loafer, unwilling to put in his own hard-days work. They came to ignore his voice and eventually his person. In this town service was the path to greatness and he refused to be a servant. When he left not one person he knew mourned. Not one save the adventurers he travelled with... |

No, No, I need help desiding the bacjground, and every person knows that the more you know the charachter, the better the background, so I gave you the stats to help me with a good backqround. But man thats a good background, thanks for the help. I wish I was as good as that. Hey, before I can call it quits, can you give me some help finding storys background, like they have in PHII? |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose01-19-08, 09:11 PM | Story's background? |
| SavonDrake01-19-08, 09:44 PM | Story's background? Sorry, I ment background Body, like in PHII Also, I talked to my DM about it, sence I am forbiden to have to much knowlage at the begining of my adventure. I am thinking maybe the village elders or city consule wiped out his memory so he doesn't have the knowlage that no on is to have. And that brings to mind something, insted of boccob as my deity, its ganna be Verca (secrets). The book, and my DM, side I could use him if I am a nuetral, so I an't ganna be law anymore either, seeing as how he doesn't see knowlage as good or evil. Also, he dusn't think being a factotum will be a good Idea being the fact that 4th editions coming out soon and they an't ganna have a factotum as a PH class and doutfully will have it in any book before Forgoten Realms 4.0 |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose01-19-08, 10:41 PM | Don't recall the background body out of PHB2 but the background still works even for a simple rogue/skill monkey. As for no knowledge if 4.0 still has knowledge skills you may want to ask your DM what knowledge you can't have. If its as simple as no Knowledge (local) you have travelled far enough that you only have a passing knowledge of the area you are in (or maybe he's got a campaign set in a isolated area you;ve never heard of). If he's restricting all knowledge skills then I don't know what he's thinking. Try asking for as much as he can tell you without giving up his plot. Mind wipes tend to become a focus for characters. Amnesia leaves them wanting to know who they were and more or less eliminates the need for an extensive background (or at least anything past waking up not knowing who you are). |
